Wolffe paced in the backyard of the house his family rented for the upcoming events. He was supposed to meet his grandfather here as part of the usual rituals. when a family member got married the next unmarried member of the same sex was a part of the rites to show that they had passed to another part of their lives. He didn't ask if it were same ritual for the few girls that the Fetts had but part of him had always wondered.
Chewing his lower lip he wished Lyni was with him and not back at her house getting those stupid gift bags ready. But he also knew that she was really nervous about these events too even if he didn't know all the reasons why. Pacing back and forth he wished he was with her to help, but pushed that aside, her brothers would make sure she was okay.
"I didn't think wearing a trench in the ground was part of the ritual," Turning to the voice he saw Aunt Shakk. No one had ever stopped calling her Shakk Ti despite the fact that she had been married to Colt Fett for years, but none of the famous discipline was shown in her face as she smiled at him. Easily reading his body language she then asked, "What's wrong Wolffe?"
He opened his mouth then closed it again trying to find the best way to form is his question. Finally he spoke, "Aunt Shakk," swallowing hard he continued, "how do you know if you find your intended?"
She smiled at him, "Are you asking because of Lyni?" He looked around again before he nodded. Sitting down on the bench nearby she considered the question, "I believe the answer to that will come with another question." Looking at her solemn nephew, "If she was killed tomorrow, what would you do?"
Sunlight
Strange how the
Sunlight shines so
Brightly when the
Star is so distant
Almost icy cold.
You are like the
Burning flame that
Warms my bones
From the indifference
All others show.
