Short chapter, guys. But I'm also posting chapter five, so you get to read two chapters! Yay!
Chapter 4
A bright light from above him woke Leonardo. He squinted his eyes as he strained to see the commander before him. Erkon smirked.
"Well, good morning. I trust you had a good rest?"
Leonardo grid his teeth. His body ached from the commander and his lackeys giving him a beating the day before. His green body was covered in black and blue bruises and his body was sore. He was still strapped to the chair and had very little sleep. Erkon smirked again as he looked the Turtle over.
"Well, at least as well as you were able? I imagine you're in a bit a pain."
Leonardo remained silent. He wasn't going to give this Triceraton any pleasure in knowing that he was getting on the Turtle's nerves. He turned away. Erkon continued.
"In any case. I'm sure you've had the whole night to think about my offer. I'm sure you're starving, too. You haven't had anything since before you've arrived here at prison, I'm sure."
He grabbed Leo's head, forcing the Turtle to look up at him.
"Have you considered my offer? I remind you that you'll have the chance to see your brothers again and will be allowed to leave this place."
"I already gave you my answer," Leo frowned. "It's still no."
"Really?" Erkon raised an eyebrow knowingly. He must have other 'methods' in mind to force Leo to work with the Triceratons. "Very well. If you insist. I'm a patient officer. I don't mind waiting. But I do wonder how much longer you'll hold out?"
He let go of Leo and turned to leave the room again. "You know, I've always wondered how long a Turtle could survive without food or water. I suppose this is my opportunity to find out."
"You're wasting your time," Leo told him. "I already told you it's pointless to try and make us surrender to you."
"Perhaps, but I have other ways of changing your mind. I'll be back later, with more tools for us to test with." With that said, the Triceraton left Leo alone. Leo shivered. What did Erkon mean by 'tools'?
Leo wasn't the only one who had a hard time sleeping the night before. Donatello was rudely woken up by Commander Jeck.
"Rise and shine, Turtle. I hope you've spent the night pondering over your situation."
As much as the Turtle hated it, he knew his only option in this situation was to do as the Triceratons wanted until he could find away to shut down the whole program. That may take some time, but he didn't want to be tortured by the electric device again.
"I have," Don said. "I'll do what you want."
"I'm glad you see things my way. Wise choice," Jeck chuckled. He turned to his subordinate. "Pair this Turtle up with a harness worker. Preferably someone who has been with us a while."
Donatello was roughly shoved out into the cell hall and taken to the giant bomb outside. He was soon put in a body harness and forced onto a Bosun chair with another alien.
"I hope you're not afraid of heights," the Triceraton who strapped him in teased. He didn't care to receive an answer from Donatello and began hoisting the him and the alien up.
"I guess this means we're suppose to work together," the alien creature said. He sighed and took out some tools from his belt. "Nothing we can do about it, so we might as well make the best of it. Grab your welding tools, this is going to take most of the day."
Donatello followed the other creature's lead and began working. The alien working beside Don was roughly about the same height as the Turtle. He was green and had a long tail, and resembled a chameleon. It was clear to Don that this creature knew what to do, and he wondered if this chameleon was also a master of technology as him. After a few minutes, the chameleon alien glanced over the railing and noticed the Triceraton who hoisted them up was not looking. He turned to Donatello.
"We're okay for now, chap. We should introduce ourselves since I have a feeling we're going to be partners for a while." He then noticed how the Turtle was using the tools and chuckled. "You certainly seem to know how to use those."
"Thanks," Don managed a small smile, feeling a sense of pride. The Triceraton tools reminded Donatello of the human tools back at home he used for conducting his own experiments. "I'm Donatello. But most everyone I know calls me Don or Donnie."
The alien chameleon shook Don's hand with a smile.
"I'm Algernon. Most creatures call me Algae." He explained to Don what section of the bomb they'll be working on for the day as they looked over the blueprints. They began welding and hammering into the structure.
They continued their conversation privatley and Donatello was surprised to hear that the dimension Algae was from contained a planet of Turtles. Don's appearance wasn't anything new to Alage. Algae explained to the Turtle that he also had telepathic powers as well as the ability to shapeshift his appearance into any object. Of course, Alagae was not allowed to use such powers while here at prison.
As much as Donnie wanted to know more about Algae, he knew he couldn't let conversation distract them. Sooner or later they'll get caught talking and possibly punished for doing so.
Don still couldn't believe what he was forced to help construct. A bomb! Of all objects he had constructed before, this one was not a pleasant one. His intellectual brain was being used for cruel and destructive purposes! It disgusted him! He really hoped his brothers were okay and not in any similar situations. After all, what could be worse than this?
And that's the end of chapter 4! Surprise, I brought back Algae! Algae is my favorite side character of the 1987 series and I wish there was more about him. Don't forget to leave a comment and let me know how this story is doing.
