As the afternoon had come along, the students were busy getting ready, Tucker meanwhile was heading down to the Nurse's office to see if he had the antibiotics ready. He looked at his bandaged-up arm as he was ready to see what more he could do to try and possibly slow this infection down. Tucker got into the hallway heading to the office as he had bumped into Rin and Emi who were standing by, they were also on their way to his office.
"Tucker, I saw you managed to arrive. I am pretty happy you arrived." Rin began as she was the most boring out of the two with how she decided to word it.
"Where were you? We were looking around for you on the rooftop for lunch today, but we weren't able to see you?" Emi asked as if she was worried for Tucker.
"I tried to find the library today and I ended up getting lost. I accidentally found the tearoom which had Eleanor and her friends in there. And we managed to find the library together. Are any of you ready for the festival coming up?" Tucker did his best to explain where exactly he was, but he didn't get to see either one of them. Rin and Emi began to think about what Tucker had said about the upcoming festival. Was there going to be anything they would be excited for? Rin began speaking first.
"Well the mural that you kind of helped work on has been completed and I wonder about everyone's reaction to it when they see it. I was satisfied with how it turned out and I bet a few other painters are too. I don't know if Mr. Nomiya would be excited." Rin explained about the mural that Tucker did his best to work on before his arm began to cramp up. Rin began to think about what to do as Emi interrupted them.
"It will be a spectacular day. Might as well try to encourage everyone to not eat the fried food as it would have bad effects on their health including my girlish figure." Emi did her best to explain what exactly was going on. Tucker on the other hand tried his best to think but his arm ended up cramping as it derailed his thought of what he wanted to say, and he was back to square one.
"What do you mean girlish figure? You eat the most out of all of us." Rin added to what Emi was saying. Emi looked at Rin with a defiant yet pretty playful look.
"I have to go on the track everyday for running. It burns a lot of fuel up so might as well take more on." Emi playfully tells Rin about it. Rin then turned back to Tucker.
"The School Nurse told me that the antibiotics have arrived, and he would like to test one of them out. He says he's giving you a concentrated dose of oxygen to slow your condition down." Rin told Tucker about what was going to happen. Tucker nodded as he went off with Rin to the Nurse's office. When they arrived, Rin knocked on the door with her foot before a voice came from the room.
"It's open." The School Nurse would tell them. The two of them walked in as Tucker then sat down on the examination seat.
Katawa Shoujo- Ah Eh I Oh You
"You're back." The School Nurse told them as he was surprised to see Tucker and Rin returning to his office. He continued to speak. "Good news, the antibiotics came and I'm going to see if these will be instrumental at preventing gangrene from spreading to the rest of the body and we can keep it isolated to that spot on his arm. Tucker, can you roll up your sleeve?" He asked. Tucker did so as the School Nurse got a look at the healthy portion of his left arm. The School nurse began taking a bit of the bandage off which exposed the elbow where the soft spot of his arm was. He then got out the needle.
"Will this hurt?" Tucker asked as he was nervous. The School Nurse began to speak.
"Just a pinch mister Kagami." The School Nurse reassured him that it wasn't going to hurt that much, and it was just a small needle being injected into his skin. Tucker turned to Rin as if he was sweating bucket loads.
"I don't know if I can go along with this, I'm scared of needles." Tucker told Rin that his fear was causing him to tense up. Rin began to think of a way to calm her friend down before she slipped one of her feet out of her sandals and handed it to Tucker.
"Be gentle but if you feel pain, just hold it," Rin told Tucker. Tucker nodded as he held Rin's foot with his good hand. The School Nurse found a good place to stick the needle in.
"Hold still." The School Nurse told Tucker. He held his bad arm out while Rin was trying his best to encourage Tucker to to look away. Tucker yelped as he felt the needle dig into his arm for a moment while the School Nurse was injecting the bad arm with liquid oxygen. After a moment or so it was over, and he pulled out. "See it wasn't that bad?" Tucker didn't respond as he was still petrified with fear.
"How often do I need to do this?" Tucker asked.
"About twice a week, I'll send a text to Rin that I would like to see the both of you." The School Nurse told them that was when he needed to see him. He then continued speaking to Tucker. "I didn't know you were afraid of needles but the liquid oxygen is the antibiotic to help slow your condition down and keep it contained to just that one area." He wrapped Tucker's elbow back up with the bandage before Tucker spoke back.
"Yeah, having the fear of getting pinched and poked is something you don't feel comfortable with." Tucker told The School Nurse before the latter opened one of his eyes and began speaking again.
"Don't worry, you'll learn to get used to it. I can have Rin be by your side to help you get over your fear." The School Nurse told Tucker that there was nothing to be scared of and if he needed help, might as well have Rin be by his side. Tucker nodded before he got up and left. The School Nurse continued to speak. "Oh, and one more thing. If your arm begins cramping up, come to me and we'll assess how bad it is. This school is only a few minutes away from a hospital that some of my medical friends work in. Take that in mind." Tucker nodded as he and Rin left the room. They were now going to head back to his dorm.
Tucker and Rin spent the journey talking about various things, how their day was, what went on and various other trivial stuff. They got to his dorm when the door to dorm 100 opened. Out came William as he spotted Tucker and Rin.
"I didn't know you had a friend already." William began. Tucker looked at his friend as he was in a wheelchair and curious to see what he was talking about.
"I'm Rin Tezuka." Rin introduced herself. William gave a bit of a laugh.
"Nice to meet you, miss. Anyway, I digress." William began. "Tucker, how was your day?"
"Nothing too special, just getting ready for the festival coming up. We don't know when it will be but it's going to be something I'd like to see." Tucker explained what his day was. William nodded as he wheeled himself forward a couple inches. "I ran into Misha, and we were talking about this one student who was coming up with theories like how feminists will take over the world or something crazy like that." Tucker also told William that one of the students had set him off.
"Who Kenji?" William asked. Tucker nodded. "Yeah, Kenji is full of crap, I don't believe anything he says." Then the second student stepped out as William continued speaking. "He's always ranting and trying to prove himself but the only thing he's good at proving is that he's a liar. And he's pretty annoying as well." William added.
"It's proof that William hates Kenji. And well I hate him too." The second student told Tucker, he was a tall, lean male student with gray hair and gray eyes. He also had a pair of red gloves on for the time being as he was helping out William. William turned to him before he turned back to Tucker.
"Oh Tucker, I haven't introduced you to my friend. This is Ernest." William introduced Tucker to Ernest. "He's the person who's helping run the student council.
"Misha told me about you Tucker and I realized William is my friend. Perhaps I would best visit you when I wanted to meet you." Ernest began as he shook Tucker's good hand. Tucker nodded a bit before he began speaking again.
"Misha, I didn't know why she was so obsessed with me from the beginning. I mean she's nice but I'm trying my best to get adjusted here." Tucker tried his best to word it. Ernest just nodded.
"Misha keeps tabs with all of the students and she tries her best to get them into the Student Council." Ernest explained why Misha was doing this in the first place.
"I see. I don't think Misha has any malice in her voice and whenever we're alone, just me and Misha, we get along pretty well." Tucker admitted that they were getting along better than expected. Ernest nodded with approval.
"That's good. I kind of wanted to meet you and here we are." Ernest tried his best to word it despite how awkward it was going to sound. "Did you make any more friends?" Ernest asked if Tucker was expanding that list of friends.
"I saw two girls in my last period class, their names were Natsume and Naomi. They asked me to join their newspaper club and I don't know if I wanted to join in their fun. They were also talking about getting a girl with grayish purple eyes into the club…" Tucker also added before he was interrupted by a voice who began to add on.
"You mean Hanako?" The gentle voice told the crowd.
Katawa Shoujo- Concord
The gentle voice belonged to Lilly Satou who had just recently arrived and joined in the conversation.
"What brings you here Lilly?" Ernest asked curiously.
"I was wondering if I can speak to William on certain matters of the festival, I sensed an opportunity to chat with him." Lilly asked if she could speak to William about certain things. Ernest began to think about it and William gave some thought about it.
"Sure, but keep the conversation within my range of hearing, I'm helping William out too." Ernest told Lilly to not go anywhere as he was helping his friend out with his stand.
"So, William, have you begun working on your booth for the festival?" Lilly asked William if he began preparing. William began to think about it before he began speaking.
"Not really, I've just been preparing the juice to sell." William explained that he hadn't been working on anything regarding the festival's booth. Lilly smiled as this presented herself a good opportunity.
"If we shouldn't be rivals, do you want to do a double up booth?" Lilly offered as she would handle the food and William would handle the drinks. William began to think about it as if he didn't know what he was going to do.
"Double up?" William asked. He began to give it some thought while trying to figure out what he was going to do. If it meant being next to Lilly and helping sell their products at the same time or being together but being separate, this could be a win-win for him. "Deal, just give me the details and I can figure out what this will mean for me. I do not want to create unnecessary fights."
"Okay, meet me tomorrow to see how we can plan this out?" Lilly asked if they could get together for the making of their booth. Lilly walked away as she was followed by Ernest. Willian, Tucker and Rin were together before William began to speak.
"I have to get to making more of my drinks, I can't stay out here to chat, see you around." William told Tucker before he headed off back into his room. Tucker turned to Rin as if he wanted to spend more time with her.
"I don't know what you want to do unless you want to go for a walk around to see what plans we have for the festival coming up?" Tucker asked as if he seemed awkward about what he wanted to do next. Rin began to think about it for a moment.
"I don't know exactly but I am pretty busy at the art studio. I have to get going, see you around." Rin told Tucker before she began walking away. Tucker looked at her before he gave a slightful nod.
"Take care." Tucker told Rin. Rin began walking away as someone else had showed up. It was Hisao. Hisao walked up to Tucker as he had Eleanor with him.
"Hey Tucker, how was your day?" Hisao asked Tucker if he had a good day.
"It was good after the tearoom meet up. I ran into two girls who tried to invite me over to join the Newspaper club which I decided to give a little thought about. After that, I went to the nurse's office for my antibiotics and then me and Rin decided to take a nice walk around and we chatted about how our day went. Then we came here, and we got to finally meet Ernest, one of William's friends." Tucker explained to Hisao about his day. Hisao nodded before he began speaking.
"That's good, I had Eleanor with me for the entire afternoon and I don't know why she likes me this much, but I feel like I'm a master of romance." Hisao jokingly told himself. All the girls seem to gravitate towards him. Tucker got a slight laugh out of it.
"I'm just moreover excited about the festival coming up. William says he's making drinks for all of us. I don't know who'll want to love me but my best bet as of this moment is Rin. I'm willing to guess." Tucker did his best to say who was going to love him. Hisao nodded and he began speaking.
"Well then, if you're going to make a bet on who's going to like you or not, you should keep in mind a couple of options. First off, try your best to be there in times of need. If your girl is having some kind of difficulty, try your best to come to something that works between the two of you. Second is trying to figure out what they're into, make trips to get gifts if you found their interests and hobbies. Last thing is don't be an idiot… which I'm trying to learn not to do." Hisao told Tucker about how he was going to win a girl such as Rin over. Tucker didn't think of it for the moment but instead he began thinking of how thankful he was.
"Well, I should say thank you for looking after Eleanor. I was the only person who would usually do that." Tucker told Hisao that he was thankful that he was looking after his younger sister and with that, he shouldn't be so worried about her.
"Much appreciated. I think you should get some sleep. We got a bunch of busy days ahead, so you know what to think ahead." Hisao told Tucker that his thank you was appreciated. He thought he was going to walk off before he remembered something. "I also want to tell you that William, is one to hold card games on weekends for the students in the dorm, everyone is invited unless your part of the feminist conspiracy." Hisao added to the fact that someone was going to be hosting games of cards when the weekend would come. Tucker was grateful for the extra bit of knowledge.
"Thanks again Hisao." Tucker told Hisao before Hisao gave a small smile and he waved his hand.
"Well that's appreciated." Hisao turned and he began to walk away as Eleanor wanted to say a few last words with her brother.
"Well, I guess I'll see you tomorrow." Eleanor told Tucker. She leaned in and gave her brother a hug before she turned and began walking away. Tucker waved goodbye to his little sister before she strode up and caught up with Hisao. Tucker inserted the key and went into his dorm. The door opened and he entered before closing it and locking it behind him. He walked over to the closet and knew he needed to change for the night if he was to get some sleep. Picking out what he wanted, he went back outside and decided to prepare himself for bed.
Hisao and Eleanor were walking along as they were chatting among themselves.
"How is my brother now that you've got to interact with him a couple of times?" Eleanor asked Hisao if he had any ideas on what he was going to think about what Tucker and Hisao were in terms of having a conversation. Hisao began to think about it before he began speaking.
"Well, he's definitely more or less the silent type. I mean we don't hear him for much of the day but when we do, he's one to ask on how you are doing or who he met. I kind of understand the fact that you two are still pretty new to Yamaku Academy so I don't know you two that much but from what I was able to learn from you two so far, you like art and I'm starting to sense that Tucker likes Rin Tezuka is what I am going to bet on." Hisao decided to make a guess with what exactly was going on and what he was betting on. Eleanor looked at him as she wanted to ask a question for Hisao.
"Do… Do you like me?" Eleanor asked. She walked over and held up her two hands, one of her hands had five fingers on it and the other had three. Hisao studied her hands while counting up. By the look of her hands, she had clearly a rough few months. Hisao began to speak.
"A bit." He sheepishly told Eleanor; he didn't know how he was going to proceed with these feelings. Eleanor surely was sweet and a little cute, but he didn't know what he was going to do with her. He began speaking again. "I think you should get back to your dorm and get some sleep." Hisao suggested. Eleanor knew Hisao was leaving the conversation as he couldn't make up his mind. Eleanor blushed a bit as she was left hanging by Hisao.
"O… Okay." Eleanor told Hisao. She began to walk back to her dorm as it didn't help with the fact that Hisao was one of the friends she was trying to know more about. Instead, she was being left to hang as her friend seemed to be embarrassed about it. Hisao turned away and decided to make his way back to his dorm to see what else he could do before calling it a night.
Tucker finished getting dressed for the night and made his way back to his dorm. Did William hold these card games that Hisao was talking about? He needed to figure out more about this. Tucker inserted the key back into his door and unlocked it. He went inside and decided to settle down for the night. He sat at his desk and began to think about something. Thinking about the library, he really needed something to read if he wasn't going to be bored. Too late to go back now and borrow a book to read out of. He didn't know if his friend Hisao had any books that he could borrow and read out of. After sitting at his desk for a few minutes with no thoughts in his brain, his phone buzzed. Tucker grabbed it to see who it was, it was Eleanor, letting Tucker know that she had arrived at her dorm and was going to call it a night. Tucker sighed, at least Eleanor was having more fun than he was. He decided to shut down for the night and headed off to bed. Flicking the light switch off. He hopped into his bed and pulled the covers over him. He didn't know about the festival coming up but it was the one thing he was looking forward to. He decided to fall asleep at once.
[A/N]: This was a short chapter as it picks up the events of the previous chapter as well as some more character introductions like meeting Ernest for the first time. Plus I don't know when to hold the festival that I'm hyping it up to be. There will be more about the cast that I have yet to cover.
I do apologize for taking so long as I just wanted some time to myself as well as the time to rest or I just kept on getting distracted. Other than that, I'm still unsure about the statement I meant inside of the statement I made. I would like to hear your opinions on how it's going so far. We're still on the first act.
