Pokemon: A Journey Of Friendship
Rachel smiled as she woke up for the day, getting up and dressing fast before taking out the Ultra Ball she had and pressing the button on it. A Zubat came out and flapped around with a happy squeak. "Hey, Sky," the girl said. "Today's the day."
The Pokemon squeaked and she nodded. "Crystal's tenth birthday," she elaborated.
Rachel was seventeen years old and her little sister was now old enough to start her Pokemon journey. The older girl had promised her little sister that when she turned ten, they would go together. This promise had come from when Rachel had turned ten and Crystal was three at the time and both were living with their uncle, who had taken them in when the girl's mother dropped them off and never came back.
Now was the day and the blonde-haired girl smiled at Sky, the Zubat she had rescued from some bullies a year ago. The bullies had been being mean to the Zubat and hadn't taken care of it and Rachel had witnessed the abuse and saved the Pokemon, rushing it to a Pokemon Center where Nurse Joy looked it over and had come into the waiting room with upsetting news.
"Zubat has a massive ear infection," she had said. "Even if he is released, someone will have to keep up with his treatments until the ear infection is gone."
Rachel had at once stood up. "I'll do it," she had said. "If Zubat's willing to come home with me, I'll take care of him."
Charles had agreed with his niece and when they saw Zubat, the small bat Pokemon moved his wings to hug Rachel's hand, which told them he had chosen her.
Now a year later, the ear infection had cleared up and the girl named him Sky, catching him in the Ultra Ball her uncle had given her as a birthday gift on her tenth birthday, saying she could use it for her adventures, but she waited to use it and was glad she did.
Just then, a knock came at the door and she turned to open it, seeing a Hariyama on the other side and she smiled. "Hi, Hariyama," she said. "Is Crystal up yet?"
A giggle reached them and the Pokemon lifted up one hand, revealing Crystal was upside down with him holding her legs. "Do it again, Hariyama!" The little girl said happily.
"Hariyama!" The Pokemon said before gently swinging the little girl in his hand, making sure she didn't hit her head as she laughed happily.
"Wheeee!" She exclaimed.
Rachel chuckled. "Silly girl," she said as Hariyama stopped swinging the girl and the older girl reached towards her sister, tickling her sides, making the girl squeal and laugh. "It's someone's birthday today," she singsonged.
"MIHIHIHIHIHIHIHINE!" Crystal managed to laugh out, squeaking as the Hariyama playfully poked her belly button before lifting her so that she was right side up and setting her down gently on her feet, hugging her to his side as she recovered.
The blonde-haired girl smiled. "You've always taken good care of us, Hari," she said, hugging him. "We'll miss you, big guy."
"Hari," he said, hugging her too.
"Girls! Breakfast is ready!" Their uncle called out to them.
"Coming, Uncle Charlie!" Rachel called back.
"Coming!" Crystal called back too before the two headed to the dining room.
Charles looked up as his nieces came in. "Today's the day, isn't it?" He asked.
They nodded. Rachel was wearing a blue t-shirt with black jeans and black sneakers while a blue bandana was tied in her hair, which was up in a ponytail. Crystal wore a kelly green t-shirt, purple jeans, and blue sneakers while her light brown hair was in a ponytail too. The man smiled. "I'm going to miss you girls, but I know you'll be alright," he said. "Crystal, I expect you to listen to your big sister."
"I will, Uncle Charlie," she promised.
He nodded and turned to Rachel. "And I expect you to watch over your little sister," he said.
"I will, Uncle Charlie," the older girl promised as the sisters hugged him before the doorbell rang and a Dusclops went to answer it, letting in the person, who smiled.
"Kairi!" Rachel called out happily, running to the other girl, who ran up to her and they hugged each other. "You ready, sister?"
"Ready!" The other girl said. She was wearing a light blue shirt with a fairy type symbol on it, a blue jean skirt with a water logo, sneakers from one of the fairy type gyms in the area, and a blue sweatshirt that was the same color as the reflection of a pool of water. She had a dive ball in her hands and she opened it so that her Pokemon Alcremie came out. This unique Pokemon had purple ribbon candy on her, making the blonde-haired girl smile.
"Hey, Alcremie," she said. "Are you excited too?"
"Cremie," the Pokemon said, nodding.
"Has your uncle given Crystal her surprise yet?" Kairi asked with a smile.
"Not yet," Rachel said. "In a few moments."
"Hey look, a battle!" Crystal called out suddenly, pointing to the T.V.
The group looked to see on the screen was a battle for the title of Champion Master in the Kalos region where both sides are able to switch their pokemon. The trainer having his Drapion out took a direct hit from an Energy Ball from the Champion's Torterra who was a young man with a black jacket, jeans, a red shirt, black spiked hair, green eyes, and a black hat with an Eevee on his shoulder.
"Hey, look. He's got an Eevee," Kairi said.
"Cool," Rachel said.
The announcer's voice came on then. "And Torterra's Energy Ball scores a direct hit on Drapion. Both sides have taken damage but it would seem Drapion is in far worse shape than Torterra!"
The owner of the Drapion, River, nodded. "Drapion, use Sludge Bomb!" He commanded.
The scoprion-like Pokemon did so, firing balls of sludge at the turtle-like Pokemon.
The other trainer, who's name was Jason, smirked. "Alright Torterra, use Iron Head!" He said.
Torterra started charging towards Drapion as his body became surrounded by a white aura, making him seem black on white.
"Holy cow!" Rachel said in shock. "That's a strong aura for Iron Head."
"No doubt he has worked with his Torterra on that manuever," her uncle replied.
Soon, the poison type attack made contact but just simply bounced off Torterra, having no effect and the turtle soon slammed into Drapion, sending the Orge Scorpion Pokemon back feeling the full power and strength from that attack.
"Drapion!" River exclaimed in shock, both from seeing sludge bomb have no effect and the counter attack.
"Amazing! Jason used Iron Head as both a defense and an attack seeing poison types have no effect on steel types!" The announcer said.
"Let's wrap this up; use Earthquake!" Jason commanded.
Torterra's front claws glowed white and grew larger as he got on his hind legs and slammed his front ones into the ground, sending a wave of energy into the Earth underneath the Poison/Dark type. Drapion was caught in the ground type move as the energy burst upwards and it was engulfed in the explosion.
Silence filled the area and the house. "Whoa," Kairi said in surprise.
"Wow!" Crystal exclaimed in awe.
When the dust cleared, it showed that the ground was destroyed where Drapion had been and the Poison/Dark type was laying there unconscious and defeated.
"Drapion is unable to battle. Torterra wins!" The referee said.
"And with that, the challenger is down to his last pokemon in this 6 on 6 champion title match, can he stage a magical comeback!?" The announcer asked.
"Oh, boy. This is the big one," Rachel said. "This could go either of their favors."
"Very true, my dear," Charles said.
"Torterra, return," Jason said, pulling out his Pokeball and returning the Grass/Ground type to it. "You did a great job, Torterra; take a good rest." He then put the pokeball away and pulled out a dusk ball "Alright, let's go!" He tossed the dusk ball and out came Gliscor.
"Ah, a Gliscor," Charles said with a smile.
"Whoa," Rachel said.
"Okay, we got to see how this ends," Kairi said.
"Yeah!" Crystal said excitedly as they sat down to watch.
"And Jason's sixth pokemon is Gliscor!" Said the announcer.
River returned Drapion to his pokeball. "Alright then. Abomasnow, you're up!" He said, tossing the ultra ball and out came the Frost Tree pokemon.
"And the challenger's sixth pokemon is Abomasnow. Normally a pokemon like Gliscor would be at a disadvantage against ice types but as we all know, the Kalos Champion has overcome type disadvantages many times before in the past, so will the challenger be able to defeat Jason's Gliscor or will this be the end?"
"Alright let's make this quick, use Ice Beam!" River called out.
A light blue beam formed in front of Abomasnow's mouth before firing light blue beams from the ball at Gliscor.
"Dodge it and use Rock Slide!" Jason said.
Gliscor dodged the ice type attack and was now in the air, creating multiple gray rocks with white outlines and sending them flying towards Abomasnow.
"Quick, counter it with Ice Shard!" River cried out.
Abomasnow opened his mouth and inside his mouth glowed light blue and he shot out multiple blue shards of ice from his mouth at the incoming Rock Slide. The two attacks collided and caused a huge explosion and a large cloud of smoke in the air.
"Alright Gliscor, time to disappear and then use X-Scissor!" Jason said.
Gliscor flew into the smoke, ready to strike.
"And Gliscor flies into the cloud of smoke ready to strike; question is where will that attack come from?" The announcer asked.
"Abomasnow, keep a close eye on the cloud of smoke and get ready to use Wood Hammer!" River said.
Abomasnow nodded as the dark green part on his arm glowed turquoise and became surrounded with a green aura, which took the shape of a stump, ready to strike. A few second went by before Jason smiled.
"Alright Gliscor, strike now!" He said.
Gliscor flew out of the smoke at great speed as his claws glow light blue and swiped them in an 'X' formation, creating a light blue 'X' in front of him flying straight towards the Ice/Grass type who was looking in a different direction for his opponent.
"Abomasnow, on your left!" His trainer called out.
The Pokemon looked to his left, but it was too late as X-Scissor landed, creating a bit of damage.
"And Gliscor lands a super effective X-Scissor!" The announcer cried out.
Though he got hit by the bug-type move, Abomasnow managed to land Wood Hammer, sending Gliscor flying before he could regain his focus and start flying normal again.
"But Abomasnow lands his Wood Hammer as well, who knows how much damage Gliscor took from that attack!" The announcer said as the crowd was on the edge of their seats.
"Alright Gliscor, it's time we finished this; use Guillotine!" Said Jason.
Gliscor flew towards Abomasnow with both of his claws glowing light blue, ready to use the one-hit knockout move.
"Quick intercept that Guillotine with Ice Shard!" River said.
Abomasnow looked up and opened his mouth again, firing a barrage of Ice Shards at the Fang Scorp pokemon, who dodged multiple shards until a few landed, canceling Gliscor's Guillotine and he was soon hit with multiple shards of ice before landing on the ground creating a cloud of dust.
"Abomasnow's Ice Shard finally connects as Gliscor was hit with that super effective Ice type move, but is that it for Gliscor?" The announcer said.
"Alright, we did it, Abomasnow!" River cheered.
Jason chuckled and smirked. "I think you should take another look," he said.
"Huh?"
Everyone looked to see the cloud of dust disappear and Gliscor standing there completely fine.
"Whoa! How did he survive that?!" Rachel asked. "That should have stopped him cold."
"He's still going!" Kairi said with a smile.
"I don't believe it! After taking that barrage of Ice Shards, Gliscor is still standing but how much did that supper effective move really do?!" The announcer asked.
River was starting to get a bit frustrated. "Use Wood Hammer now!" He exclaimed.
Abomasnow jumped up as his arm was surrounded by a green aura, taking the shape of a stump again, ready to strike.
Jason nodded. "Alright Gliscor, dodge then use Fire Fang. Let's go!" He said.
Gliscor sprung up in the air as the Wood Hammer missed and hit the ground where he was a second ago. He then started flying towards Abomasnow as the inside of his mouth became covered in flames, ready to use the fire type attack.
"Quick! Use Ice Beam now!" River cried out.
Again, a light blue beam formed in front of Abomasnow's mouth and it fired another round of light blue beams from the ball at Gliscor again, but the flying Pokemon dodged it and then bit down hard on Abomasnow's arm, causing an explosion before flying back from his opponent.
"Gliscor's Fire Fang scores a direct hit, with an added effect that has Abomasnow wrapped in flames!" The announcer said as the crowd watched in stunned silence.
All the damage Abomasnow took and the status effect of the burn was too much for the Frost Tree pokemon and it fell down, unconscious and defeated.
"Abomasnow is unable to battle! Gliscor wins, which means the match goes to Jason!" The referee said.
"And there you have it, folks! After an intense battle and defeating only two of his pokemon, Jason once again defends his title as Champion of the Kalos Region! The announcer said as the crowd went wild.
Crystal cheered. "He did it!" She said.
"Whew! My heart nearly stopped a few times," Rachel admitted.
"Definitely a match to remember," Kairi said.
Charles smiled. "Crystal," he said. "Are you ready for your gift?"
She nodded and he handed her a great ball. "Your Pokemon is inside," he said.
She opened it and out came a Sawk, one of the young girl's favorite Pokemon. "Sawk!" He said before bowing to the little girl, who bowed back and then hugged him.
"Awesome!" She said before hugging her uncle. "Thank you, Uncle Charlie."
"You're welcome," he said with a smile.
The girls were soon ready to go and waved goodbye to their uncle and the Pokemon with their uncle, as the man ran a sanctuary for Pokemon, so the girls had been helping him and been around Pokemon for years. They then turned and looked towards the west. "Here we go," Rachel said.
"Together," Kairi said.
"Come on!" Crystal said excitedly as they headed off, Sawk traveling beside her as Rachel's Zubat came up to her and she pulled out something that looked like a cup with no handle strapped to a belt and she put it on so that the cup was at her shoulder.
"Here you go, Sky," she said as he settled down to rest.
Alcremie went back into her ball and the three girls continued down the path, ready to experience a journey they wouldn't forget.
