happen this New Years, and Tohru can't wait to see what.
The last day of the year has come, and they are doing their New Years cleaning. While Yuki is helping with the cleaning he damages the door him and Kyo to get into a fight. When Tohru finishes fixing the damage Shigurae comes by desperately needing to use the toilet, but unfortunately it is closed for cleaning, and Hana gives him a lecture for disturbing her while she is working. When Shigurae gets to his office to find his frantic editor waiting for him, and he tries to lose her in the chaos of New Years cleaning. His editor corners him in the kitchen eating a snack, and he pulls a trick on her before running off. While this is happening Uo says.
"Tohru maybe you better go on, and do your shopping." Uo
"Oh good idea." Tohru
"Shopping, but you'll need someone to carry your things. I'll go to...oh Tohru something's come up you'll have to find someone else to go with you." Shigurae
Shigurae's editor is dragging him as Shigurae says this. He is in his office with his editor, and she is trying to get him to write the rest of his book.
Tohru and Yuki are shopping, and Yuki says.
"So Miss Honda what are you going to make?" Yuki
"New Years cakes." Tohru
"Uh New Years cakes?" Yuki
"Uh huh I just hope I picked out ingredients that everyone likes." Tohru
"Shigurae, Kyo, and I will be going back to the main house tonight. I'm sorry I really should have explained earlier it's sort of a Soma family tradition. I uh...I guess it was just such an obvious thing to us that we'd be going that we completely forgot to mention it." Yuki
"That's alright…" Tohru
Before Tohru has a chance to finish her sentence her cellphone rings, and Tohru answers it saying.
"Hello." Tohru
"Hey Tohru it's Sakuya." Sakuya
"Hi Sakuya." Tohru
"Tohru do you have any plans for New Years?" Sakuya
"No I don't." Tohru
"That's great! There's a New Years party being held at White Water Hot Springs. Would you like to come?" Sakuya
"A New Years party at White Water that sounds like so much fun I'd love to come. In fact I will even bring the New Years cakes I was planing to make with me." Tohru
"Awesome I can't wait. Misono will pick you up in two hours. The party will be going on until the third so make sure you pack enough to last until then." Sakuya
"Right see you soon." Tohru
"See ya bye Tohru." Sakuya
"Bye Sakuya." Tohru
Tohru turns to Yuki, and says.
"We should go. I need to get ready." Tohru
"Sure." Yuki
Tohru looks behind them, and when she sees two little girls running on a collision course with Yuki she says.
"Oh Yuki behind you. Look out!" Tohru
Yuki transforms, and Tohru ends up carrying him home in her pocket.
Shigurae teases his editor some more, and then they eat dinner. After dinner Shigurae plays one last joke on his editor, and Uo walks up to her saying.
"Hey. The writer guy asked me to give this to you." Uo
Shigurae's editor opens the package Uo handed her, and sees the already finished manuscript. When she realizes what happened she says.
"You mean it was finished. Why didn't he just tell me?" editor
While this is happening Tohru finishes up the dishes, and puts the final touches on the New Years cakes. Hana and Uo leave, but then Yuki and Kyo decide not to go. Tohru walks into the room after packing, and Shigurae says.
"Oh Tohru It's terrible. Neither one of these two wants to go with me back to Soma house." Shigurae
"Dammit quit whining. You're supposed to be an adult." Kyo
"Um you're not going back?" Tohru
"I haven't been to that place in four months. I'm not going to go just because of some stupid New Years thing." Kyo
"I had my reasons for leaving home. They'd seem almost meaningless if I went back tonight." Yuki
"Why do you have to be like this? You've both gone every year before now haven't you. You see New Years is a big night for the Soma's. It's the one holiday were the entire extended family gets together to celebrate." Shigurae
"That does sound big!" Tohru
"Just getting through the introductions can be an event in and of itself, but I'd have to say the real highlight of the evening is the Zodiac Banquet, and it's probably the most important part of the Soma New Years celebration. As the name might imply it's a banquet that only members of the Zodiac are allowed to attend. The Zodiac member of the New Year performs a dance. This year it's Momiji's turn, but nothing can compare to the beautiful dance Yuki did three years ago." Shigurae
"I wish I could've seen it." Tohru
Yuki throws three slices of pickled radish at Shigurae, and says.
"I told you never to talk about that." Yuki
"Right." Shigurae
"It all sounds so wonderful a Zodiac Banquet just like in the old folk tale." Tohru
"It doesn't matter to me. It's not like I can even go to that stupid Banquet anyway." Kyo
"Why not?" Tohru
"It's been a long standing rule that the cat is not allowed to attend. I guess that's in keeping with the folk tale as well isn't it." Shigurae
"I'm sorry, but with that being the case why don't you come with me and Kuro to the New Years Party at White Water Hot Springs?" Tohru
"You're inviting me?" Kyo
"Yep. You can come as my guest." Tohru
Kyo smiles, and says.
"Ok fine." Kyo
"Excellent. Kuro go get our bag. Kyo we're going to be there till the third so you need to pack for a three day holiday. I'll go get the New Years cakes, and meet you outside. Yuki please go with Shigurae we'll be fine." Tohru
Kyo runs upstairs to pack, and Yuki says.
"Alright Miss Honda. Have fun at the party, and keep Kyo out of trouble." Yuki
Kyo walks outside bag in hand just as everyone else gets there, and the two groups go their separate ways.
They arrive at the top of the drive, and Tohru sees Misono waiting there for her. Tohru smiles, and says.
"Hi Misono. Have you been waiting long?" Tohru
"No even with directions from Sakuya it still took a while to get here. Who's this?" Misono
"This is Kyo Soma. Kyo this is my friend Misono Arisuin." Tohru
"It's a pleasure to meet someone Tohru considers family."Misono
"Uh yeah hi. Are we going to the party or are we going to stand here talking?" Kyo
"Hmm." Misono
Tohru, Kyo, and Misono get in the car, and drive to White Water Hot Springs. When they get there Tetsu takes the boxes of New Years cakes, and puts them away for later. Lilac comes up to Tohru, and says.
"Tohru um who is this you brought with you?" Lilac
Before Tohru has a chance to say anything Kuro says.
"This is Tohru's cousin by adoption Kyo Soma." Kuro
"You won't mind if I confirm that before he is introduced to anyone else?" Misono
"No of course not. Go right ahead." Kuro
Misono nods, and goes off to the side to make the necessary calls. After making the necessary calls Misono comes over to them, and says.
"Everything checks out. Enjoy the party Kyo Soma." Misono
Tohru smiles, and takes Kyo into the room being used for the party. Before they enter the room Tohru makes it clear that everyone in the room knows the secret so he can relax and enjoy himself. Kyo nods, and they enter the room.
While they are enjoying the party Kyo crashes into a beautiful girl, and is rather shock that he didn't transform. Kyo calms down, and helps her up off the floor. Kyo introduces himself saying.
"I'm Kyo Soma." Kyo
"Clarissa Cain pleased to meet you." Clarissa
"So Clarissa how are you enjoying the party so far?" Kyo
"I'm having a great time, and so I'm happy my master brought me along." Clarissa
"Who is your master?" Kyo
"The Mother of Wrath. I heard that you're The Saint's cousin." Clarissa
"Huh?" Kyo
"Tohru Honda. What you didn't know she's called that?" Clarissa
"Um no why is Tohru called that anyway?" Kyo
"Because of her ability to forgive someone no matter what they have done to her." Clarissa
"Yep sounds about right. Tohru is also very insightful in regards to other peoples feelings." Kyo
"How did you...I guess you would know that since you're her cousin. Can we talk about something else please?" Clarissa
"Sure, I guess." Kyo
Clarissa smiles at Kyo, and the two of them dive into other topics of conversation. Everyone in the room can tell how well suited they are for each other, and are glad to see that they are getting along good. Tohru feels bad for Kagura, but is glad Kyo found someone who makes him happy.
A while into the party Tohru remembers her conversation with Hatori, and it makes her wonder if anything can be done about that. After much thought Tohru gets an idea that might just work. Tohru walks up to Lilly, and says.
"Lilly you're a powerful psychic right?" Tohru
"That's right. Why do you ask?" Lilly
"Do you know very much about the Soma Dragon?" Tohru
"Yes I do know quite a bit about the subject. Is there something your friends should know about?" Lilly
"No, no it's just that I met him." Tohru
"Tell me everything." Lilly
Tohru goes on to tell Lilly all about her meeting with Hatori, and by the end of the tale Lilly is wondering what could have happened to cause things to change so much. Lilly gets a pensive look on his face, and says.
"That's not how the Soma Dragon is supposed to be." Lilly
"Really! Well in that case can fix it?" Tohru
Lilly thinks about the question, and comes to the conclusion that he can indeed restore things to how they originally were, but he must know for sure that this is what his friend wants to do saying.
"I can restore Hatori's Zodiac form to what it should be, but doing so is irreversible. You have to be absolutely sure about this before action can be taken." Lilly
"I'm sure. Hatori's embarrassed by it, and he doesn't deserve that after everything that kind man has been through." Tohru
"Alright Tohru give me the address for the main Soma estate, and I'll take care of it." Lilly
"Thanks so much Lilly." Tohru
"It's my pleasure to help a friend." Lilly
Tohru smiles, hands him the paper Hatori gave her, and goes to visit with her other friends. She might even take a bath later.
Meanwhile at the Soma Estate Shigurae and Yuki are enjoying the New Years celebrations with their family, and Yuki finds that he wished he could have gone to the New Years party with Miss Honda too. On the other hand it is nice to celebrate with his relatives, and he is glad that Miss Honda invited Kyo to the party so he can enjoy New Years like the rest of them. Shigurae told him about the the look on Akito's face when he told him that Kyo has gone to another celebration instead of coming here to celebrate with the family. Yuki knows that there will be consequences for this action, but Yuki can bring himself to care about that. When they get home Yuki is going to ask Miss Honda for all the details about the party, and then he will get to share in the fun even a little bit. Momiji comes up to him, and says.
"Yuki is it true that Kyo went to a New Years party instead of coming back home?" Momiji
"Yes it's true, and I'm glad he did." Yuki
"You're glad he skipped the Soma Family Celebration. Why?" Momiji
"This way Kyo gets to actually have fun instead of being excluded from stuff, because he is the cat." Yuki
Momiji smiles at Yuki who says.
"Sorry I guess Miss Honda is rubbing off on me a little bit." Yuki
"Don't be sorry. I think that it's a good thing that you and Kyo are getting along better." Momiji
Yuki smiles at Momiji, and the two of them go back to enjoying the celebrations.
Shigurae heard the entire conversation between Yuki and Momiji, and he agrees wholeheartedly with Momiji's assessment of the situation. Shigurae finds himself hoping that one day Kyo and Yuki will be friends, but he wonders what would happen if that hatred between them were to disappear what would take it's place. Shigurae knows that having Tohru around is doing wonders for their relationship, and he knows that Tohru's presence will facilitate that very thing. Shigurae is happy that his decision to hire Tohru as their live-in house keeper has done so much good for his family. Tohru really is a blessing to their house, and speaking of that he will have to tell Tohru about the adoption after New Years. Shigurae also hopes that someone has warned Hatori about the consequences of trying to erase Tohru's memories, and thereby preventing him from throwing his life away. Hmm Perhaps that is why Sakuya went with Tohru to her meeting with Hatori. If that is indeed what happened it would definitely a relief that one of his oldest friends is safe from that horrible consequence.
Momiji is glad that he got to meet and become friends with Tohru, but it's sad that she had to go through some of the same pain that they had to go through. Momiji is thinking about what Tohru told him, and finds himself wanting to meet this Jekylland Licht Todoroki. Momiji wants to meet the man that has captured his friends heart, and on that note he'd kind of like to see the weapon that she used to fight his kidnapper. Momiji would also like to meet Lilac, and maybe they can be friends. Tohru has opened up a whole new side of the world that they were unaware of. That being said Momiji realizes that it would not be a good idea for them to involve themselves in fights between vampires, and they should leave it in the hands of experts. After New Years Momiji is going to find some way where he can meet Licht in a friendly setting, and then he will hopefully be able to be friends with him like he is
