Chapter 4

It was late at night at the pokemon center as the girls were in their room. Rachel was sleeping peacefully until something woke her up and saw her little sister and Kairi watching tv.

"Hey," the blonde-haired girl said softly, stretching as she sat up. "What's going on?"

"Oh, sorry we woke you up, Rachel. Me and crystal were just watching this match that's happening right now," Kairi said.

On TV, there was a battle going on where it was a 3 on 3 for the trainer to be one of the Master 8 in the Coronation Series. The trainer Thomas was facing the Kalos region Champion Jason, ranked number 5 in the Master Class. Unfortunately it was now 3-2 losing his first pokemon and now was using Cloyster verses Jason's Hawlucha on the water battlefield.

Rachel moved to sit beside her friend and sister. "Looks like we tuned in at just the right time," she said.

"Thunder Punch, let's go!" Jason called out

Hawlucha stood proudly as one of his fists becomes surrounded in yellow electricity accompanied by yellow sparks and he rushed towards the water/ice type.

"Quick, use Withdraw!" Thomas yelled.

Cloyster clamped his shell shut and his shell glowed red and protected himself from the Thunder Punch as it landed. "If you haven't noticed, my Cloyster has a hard shell. I bet he barley felt a thing ," Thomas said with a smug look.

Jason smirked. "Is that so? Hawlucha, Thunder Punch back to back!" He commanded.

Hawlucha stood proud again as now both fists become surrounded in yellow electricity accompanied by yellow sparks now and he started repeatedly punching Cloyster's shell to wear down his endurance as the Bivalve pokemon is taking a lot of damage from the electric type attack.
Thomas grew a bit worried at seeing Cloyster taking a lot of damage despite using Withdraw. "Alright Cloyster, dive underwater quick!"

Cloyster jumped into the water avoiding another Thunder Punch and readied himself to launch his attack.

"Quick use Spike Cannon!" He heard his master say.

Cloyster came out of the water behind Hawlucha and closed his shell, starting to glow white before firing multiple white spikes from the shell.

"Hawlucha, dodge it and use High Jump Kick!" Jason said.

"Hawlucha!" The Pokemon said before he quickly dodged the attack and jumped from platform to platform avoiding the Bivalve Pokemon's attack.

"Wow, talk about quick! Hawlucha dodges Cloyster's attack even though there's not many places to move on the battlefield!" The announcer said.

"Well, what did you expect?" Kairi asked with a smirk.

"Jason's going to win!" Crystal said excitedly.

"Well, it's still anyone's match," Rachel said. "But from what we saw before, Jason has a way of pulling a win out of the bag."

On screen, Hawlucha dodged the last of Cloyster's Spike Cannon and sprung forward towards the water/ice type as one of his legs glowed orange and he kneed Cloyster in the face with the fighting type attack when the bivalve Pokemon opened his shell.

"And Hawlucha lands a super effective High Jump Kick, but it looks like Cloyster can still battle after all those Thunder Punches and that High Jump Kick. Talk about a strong defense!" The announcer said as the crowd looked to be on the edge of their seats.

Thomas stood tall. "We're not done yet. Cloyster, use Giga Impact!" He said.

Cloyster's body became surrounded in an invisible energy. A bright flash of yellow light appeared in front of its face and faced the opponent. He then shot himself at the Wrestling Pokemon as an orb of light purple energy with spiraling light yellow streaks around it appear around his body.

"Quick, use Flying Press!" Jason called out.

Hawlucha quickly jumped out of the way as Cloyster slammed into the platform, creating a cloud of dust. Soon, the dust disappeared and he saw his opponent and flew over him, becoming outlined in an orange energy and he started diving towards the Bivalve Pokemon.

"Cloyster, counter it with Aurora Beam!" Thomas said, but he saw Cloyster not moving until he saw why.

"Uh-oh, it looks like Cloyster's horn is stuck in the platform after using Giga Impact, leaving him as a sitting Ducklett for Hawlucha's Flying Press!" The announcer said.

Soon, Hawlucha's Flying Press connected and created a large cloud of dust. When the dust cleared, it showed Cloyster knocked out.

The Drone Rotom spoke up. "Cloyster is unable to battle."

"And with that, Thomas is down to his last pokemon while Jason has all 3 of his pokemon, however it looks like Hawlucha's taken a lot of damage from both Araquanid and Cloyster," the announcer told everyone.

"Cloyster, return!" Thomas said, holding out a Lure ball before pulling out a pokeball. Go Carracosta! He said as he tossed the pokeball up and out came the Prototurtle pokemon.

"And Thomas' last pokemon is Carracosta, an ancient pokemon from the past ready to rumble!" The announcer announced.

Jason saw how exhausted Hawlucha was from battling and winning both against Araquanid and Cloyster and pulled out his Great Ball. "Hawlucha return," he said before looking at the ball. "Great job Hawlucha, get a good rest."

He put the Great Ball away before pulling out a Pokeball. "Alright. time for an epic showdown. Kabutops, go!" He said as the shellfish Pokemon came out.

"Jason's second pokemon is Kabutops; looks like it's gonna be a fossil showdown folks!" The announcer said.

"Alright Kabutops, use Mud Shot!"

Kabutops opened his mouth and fired multiple light blue energy balls at Carracosta.

"Carracosta, escape underwater and use Hydro Pump!" Thomas said.

Carracosta jumped in the water and avoided the ground type move as it hits the platform and swam fast around Kabutops and jumped out of the water, opening his mouth releasing a powerful blast of water, landing a critical hit on Kabutops.

"And Carracosta dives in the water and lands a powerful Hydro Pump, a great strategy that been used throughout this entire battle to avoid and deliver attacks!" The announcer said.

Thomas looked at his opponent cockily. "How do you like that? Hard to hit a target underwater, huh?" He asked.

Jason smirked back. "Well I hope you have a backup plan, because I'm ending this game of hide and seek. Kabutops, in the water!"

Kabutops, having recovered from the Hydro Pump, dove in the water. "Now use Aqua Jet and get Carracosta out of the water!" Jason continued.

Kabutops' body became surrounded by water and he shot himself like a rocket and slammed into Carracosta, launching both pokemon out of the water. "Quick use Ice Beam on the water!" Jason said.

Kabutops opened his mouth as a light blue ball formed in front of his mouth, which fired light blue beams from the ball at the water, freezing it solid and landing on his feet while Carracosta fell on his shell on the ice.

"What a unique strategy! Kabutops froze the water leaving Carracosta nowhere left to hide, ending Thomas' strategy!" The announcer said in surprise.

Thomas glared "Then we'll just attack head on. Carracosta, use Superpower!" He cried out.

Carracosta's appendages became surrounded in an orange aura and he started running towards the Shellfish pokemon. However, now that the battlefield's been changed to a land based one, the Proroturtle pokemon was very slow on land than in the water and Kabutops dodged with ease being faster than the other water/rock type.

"Alright then, use Hydro Pump!" Thomas cried out.

"Dodge, then use Mud Shot!" Jason said.

Carracosta opened his mouth, releasing another powerful blast of water at Kabutops, who jumped and dodged the attack before opening his mouth and firing multiple light blue energy balls again.

Thomas panicked. "Dodge it, quick!" He said.

Unfortunately, Carracosta was too slow and got hit by the ground type move multiple times.

"And Kabutops' Mud Shot connects this time. It just goes to show you how one little change can affect everything!" The announcer said.

"Let's wrap this up. Liquidation, lets go!" Jason said.

Kabutops started running towards the other water/rock type as the scythes on his forearms become covered in water.

"Use Focus Blast now!" Thomas said in a panic.

"Block it, Kabutops!"

Carracosta put his appendages together in front him and formed a light blue ball of energy in between his appendages and threw it at the Shellfish , seeing the Focus Blast coming his way, split the attack in two with Liquidation avoiding the oncoming attack as it hit the platforms behind him as Liquidation hit hard. After a moment's pause, Carracosta fell forward, knocked out.

Drone Rotom spoke up again. "Carracosta is unable to battle, which means the victory goes to Jason, the Kalos region Champion. As a result of today's battle, there has been a change in the World Coronation Series rankings effective immediately," it said before flying off.

"What an amazing match!" The Announcer said. "Despite Thomas' strategies to win the match, Jason overcomes and counters them and wins a decisive 3-0 win against Thomas and remains as one of the Masters 8 in the World Coronation Series!"

The crowd went wild at that and Crystal jumped up with a cheer before her cheer was interrupted by a yawn. Rachel smiled.

"Let's get you back on the dream cloud, kiddo," she said, guiding her sister back to the bed and tucking the child in. "Sweet dreams, sis. See you in the morning."

"Night, big sister," the little girl said before falling asleep.

Kairi was about to head back to bed when she thought of something. "Hey, Rach, back at Professor Birch's lab, you mentioned something about Deoxys helping you guys," she said. "How did you meet Deoxys? I heard they're rare."

Rachel smiled. "My uncle rescued one of them when it landed in the forest," she said. "He helped it recover and Deoxys stayed with us a bit until he was fully recovered to go back home." She paused and smiled. "One thing I remember is that he was super gentle for a powerful alien. I hope he's doing well."

"I'm sure he is," Kairi said before both girls got into their beds and were soon sound asleep once more.
