Chapter 10
A bit later, the girls were helping Nurse Joy with some of the baby Pokemon in the nursery. "Looks like you girls have the touch," the nurse said, smiling. "These little ones can be a bit fussy at times."
"Our uncle owns a sanctuary for Pokemon," Crystal said, standing tall with pride. "He's taught me and Rachel all about how to care for baby Pokemon."
"Kairi and I would help them out too," Julie said before chuckling. "Even if Hariyama surprised me that time and I woke up all the babies."
Rachel and Kairi did their best to hide their chuckles. "In all fairness, he thought you were an intruder, but by the time he recognized you, the babies were awake," Rachel said gently.
"Oh, my," Nurse Joy said, a gentle smile on her face. "How did you get the little ones to calm down?"
"Julie came up with the idea to sing a lullaby and a Kangaskhan and a Jynx joined in to help. The baby Pokemon settled down thankfully," Kairi said.
"Hmm, I'll keep that in mind," Nurse Joy said, smiling.
The baby Pokemon were soon sound asleep in the girls' arms and they gently set them down to let them rest, heading out quietly before going to have some dinner. Rachel opted to make some soup and grilled cheese sandwiches, which everyone was looking forward too.
"Let's put the TV on," Julie said.
Crystal perked up. "Can we watch a battle?" She asked hopefully.
"Let's see if one is on," Kairi said, turning on the TV. No sooner had she done so, a match appeared on the screen and the girls sat down to watch while Rachel continued to make dinner, but was listening to the match, which was between the Kalos region champion, Jason, and another trainer, one named Travis.
"This match will be a double battle, you will each choose two Pokemon, there is no limit to the match length, however you are not allowed to substitute your pokemon in this double battle, whichever side makes both of their opponents Pokemon unable to battle will be the winner!" The referee said. "And...begin!"
Jason threw out a Dusk and Friend ball while Travis tossed an Ultra and Great ball onto the field and out came their chosen pokemon.
"Jason will be using Gliscor and Leavanny, while Travis will be using Rhyperior and Mandibuzz!" The announcer said.
"Wow!" Crystal said in awe.
"Both of them have some strong Pokemon," Rachel said.
"Think Jason's going to win again?" Kairi asked.
"He's a good battler," Julie said as they focused on the battle about to happen.
Huh, I thought he would be using some of his heavy hitters like his Torterra or Krookodile. This should be easy, Travis thought to himself before speaking aloud. "Hope your ready for me to wipe the floor with you; I'll beat you using my brute strength!"
"Brute strength alone won't win you this battle; all it will do is come right back at you and cost you this battle," Jason said.
"Oh yeah, try this! Rhyperior, use Hyper Beam and Mandibuzz, use Dark Pulse!"
Rhyperior opened his mouth and fired a dark purple beam of energy with a dark black energy around it at the two opposing Pokemon while Mandibuzz opened her mouth and a light purple orb of energy surrounded in black and purple rings of energy appeared inside her mouth and fired a beam of black and purple rings of energy from the orb inside her mouth at the two opponents.
"And Travis starts out with two powerful attacks, how will Jason respond?!" The Announcer asked.
"Dodge it and Gliscor, use Rock Slide!" Jason said.
His two pokemon dodged the two beam attacks, which created a giant explosion where the two were. Gliscor then flew up and created multiple gray rocks with white outlines and sent them flying towards the rock/ground type and the dark/flying type and they are bombarded by the rock type attack.
Travis saw that Rhyperior needed time to recharge from using Hyper Beam and decided to strike fast. "Mandibuzz, use Toxic on Gliscor!" He said.
Mandibuzz fired a stream of purple liquid from her mouth at Gliscor, who landed on the ground.
"Quick Leavanny, use Steel Wing and protect Gliscor!" Jason commanded.
Leavanny jumped in front of the ground/flying type as the leaves on her arms glowed blue and white and she effectively blocked the poison type attack as it has no effect on steel types and steel type moves.
"Wait, what!?" Travis exclaimed in shock.
"What a clever strategy! Jason had Leavanny use a steal type move to protect Gliscor from that Poison type attack as poison types have no effect on steel types!" The announcer said, making the crowd go wild.
Travis grew a bit upset. "Oh yeah, let's see if your bug can block this! Mandibuzz, fire multiple shots of Toxic at the two!"
Mandibuzz did as she was told, but Jason was ready.
"Here it comes. Show them how fast you are, Leavanny, and use Steel Wing again!" The champion said.
Leavanny stood tall and the leaves on her arms glowed blue and white again and she kept blocking the poison attack as they bounced off her arms with quick precision and elegance, amazing the crowd. Soon Leavanny managed to bounce one of the blasts of Toxic right back at Mandibuzz, who was hit by her own attack and now is poisoned.
"Whoa!" Rachel said, having turned in time to see that. "That was a good strategy."
"What!?" Travis exclaimed in shock.
"Sounds like Travis wasn't expecting that move," Kairi said.
Crystal giggled. "Go, Jason!" She cheered.
Julie smiled. "Jason is known for pulling some surprises out when you least expect it," she said.
"And Leavanny manages to turn Mandibuzz's attack around and poison her instead!" The Announcer said.
Travis saw Rhyperior finished recharging. "We're not done yet. Rhyperior, use Hammer Arm!" He ordered.
Rhyperior ran up towards the two with his hands glowing white and slammed them into the ground where the two were as they had once again dodged the attack.
"Mandibuzz, go after Gliscor, and Rhyperior, use Hammer arm on Leavanny again!"
Mandibuzz started flying after the ground /flying type despite being poisoned and taking damage while Rhyperior's hands glowed white again and he started swinging at the bug/grass type but kept missing as she dodged the fighting type move with style and grace. Then Rhyperior raised both his arms to use Hammer Arm, leaving himself open.
"Leavanny, use Leaf Blade!" Jason said, using the moment to his advantage.
Leavanny nodded and the leaves on her arms glowed light green and slashed at the Rock/Ground type, causing serious damage.
"Wow, Leavanny dodges Rhyperior's hard hitting Hammer Arm with style and grace and lands a powerful Leaf Blade, super effective against rock and ground types!" The Announcer said, making the crowd go wild.
"Try dodging this; use Stone Edge!" Travis commanded.
Rhyperior slammed his hands on the ground, causing light blue rock pillars to appear out of the ground and rush towards Leavanny.
"Leavanny, jump up onto Gliscor's back! Gliscor, take to the air!" Jason commanded.
Leavanny jumped up, avoiding the rock type attack and landing lightly onto Gliscor's back as the two flew up into the air.
"Would you look at that. Leavanny is on Gliscor's back avoiding Rhyperior's Stone Edge. You don't see that everyday," the announcer said, impressed.
Travis smirked, thinking he now had the advantage. "Perfect. Mandibuzz, use Brave Bird. Rhyperior, use Rock Wrecker and strike them both down!" He said.
Mandibuzz started flying towards the two as her body became surrounded in red fire and then the red fire around her body turns into a light blue aura. Rhyperior put his hands together as small chunks of gray stones came out of the holes on his hands and formed together into a large gray rock with a red aura around it.
Jason smirked, getting a perfect idea. "Gliscor, fly straight towards Rhyperior!" He said.
"WHAT?!" The crowd exclaimed.
"What is he doing?! Rhyperior will get him for sure!" Crystal said.
Rachel looked closely and then smiled. "I don't think so," she said. "Keep watching. Jason's about to shock everyone."
"I don't believe what I'm seeing, Gliscor is flying straight towards Rhyperior's Rock Wrecker with Leavanny on his back, what kind of plan does Jason have?!" The announcer asked as the girls focused on the TV, on the edge of their seats to see what was going to happen.
"Thank you Jason, for giving me the win. Rhyperior, fire!" Travis ordered, thinking he had won the battle for sure.
The red aura soon fades and the large Pokemon threw the large rock at the two.
"Perfect," Jason said. "Gliscor, dodge it now!"
Gliscor, seeing the giant rock, spread his wings, dodging the attack as Leavanny held on.
Travis soon realized he had fallen straight into Jason's trap. "Wait, no!" He exclaimed.
Rock Wrecker missed Jason's pokemon, but ended up hitting Mandibuzz, who was still using Brave Bird and following close behind Gliscor and Leavanny. A loud explosion followed and there was large cloud of smoke as Mandibuzz fell straight towards the ground out of the cloud of smoke, knocked out by the super effective rock type attack.
"Mandibuzz is unable to battle!" The referee said.
"I can't believe what I just saw! Rhyperior missed his Rock Wrecker and ended up taking out his own teammate instead!" The announcer said.
"Mandibuzz, return!" Travis said, making her return to the Great Ball.
Jason smirked. "Like I said, that brute strength alone will only come right back at you and cost you the battle," he said as Gliscor landed on the ground and Leavanny hopped off his back.
Travis then got frustrated. "Battle's not over yet. Rhyperior, use Hammer Arm on Gliscor!" He commanded.
Rhyperior's hands glow white once again and he ran towards the other two Pokemon.
"Then I'll just finish this battle for you," Jason said. "Gliscor, use Guillotine!"
Gliscor sprung up into the air, avoiding Rhyperior's Hammer Arm and starts flying towards the Drill Pokemon with one of his claws glowing light blue.
"Quick Rhyperior, use Rock Wrecker now!"
Rhyperior put his hands together again as small chunks of gray stones came out of the holes on his hands and formed together into a large gray rock with a red aura around it and was about to fire at the Fang Scorpion Pokemon.
Jason looked up. "Not so fast. Leavanny, use Energy Ball!"
Leavanny opened her mouth and a light green orb of energy formed in front of her and she fired it at Rhyperior, who was about to fire Rock Wrecker when he got his square in the face by Leavanny's Energy Ball, causing him to miss and fire the giant rock at some boulders instead of the ground/flying type.
Moments later, Gliscor's Guillotine connected as he grabbed Rhyperior's neck and slammed him into the ground, creating a cloud of dust that Gliscor flew out of. When the dust cleared, it showed Rhyperior knocked out from the one hit knockout move.
"No, this can't be!" Travis exclaimed in shock.
"Rhyperior is unable to battle! Gliscor and Leavanny win, which means the match goes to Jason the Kalos League Champion!" The referee announced.
"He did it!" Rachel cheered happily. "I knew he would!"
"Never doubted it for a second," Julie said, gazing at Jason on screen and looking a bit dreamy eyed.
"You like him, Julie?" Crystal asked teasingly.
"No!" Julie said quickly, getting all embarrassed and quickly going into denial. "I just like watching his matches, that's all."
Kairi noticed something. "Hey, take a look at this," she said, pointing to the screen.
The announcer came on and grinned broadly. "And there you have it, our Kalos League Champion has once again showed us why he is the Champion of Kalos and if you want to battle Jason, there will a Junior Cup Tournament here in the Kalos region in Lumious City, where the winner will not only win this trophy but also have the honor to battle Jason as well! All trainers are welcome to participate, the tournament will begin in a few days, so hurry and get registered into the competition before time runs out!"
"Alright!" Crystal said eagerly. "Rach, can we go to that?"
"It would be a great experience," Kairi said.
"Let's see how much the tickets are," Rachel said.
"How about one better?" Came a familiar voice and the four girls gasped in surprise.
"Uncle Charlie!" Rachel and Crystal cried out, running up and hugging their uncle, who chuckled and hugged them back.
"Professor Charles," Kairi said with a smile.
"Hi, Professor," Julie said.
"Ah, Julie, I was wondering when you'd be joining the girls," he said with a smile.
"And I'm glad I did," she said, smiling.
"We just watched a Pokemon battle and there's a chance to meet Jason, the Kalos Champion, in Lumious City!" Crystal said excitedly.
"Well then, I suppose it's a good thing I got you four these," Charles said, holding up plane tickets to Lumious City in the Kalos region.
The girls were shocked and excited. "Thank you so much, Uncle Charlie!" Rachel said, hugging him. "You're the greatest uncle in the whole world."
Professor Birch came up to them and in a few moments, the girls' Pokedexes were upgraded with information on Pokemon from other regions. He even gave them a few evolutionary items and some extra Pokeballs. "Good luck," he said. "And be careful."
"We will," Kairi promised.
The next morning, the girls were up and ready with their Pokemon safe in their Pokeballs as they boarded the plane to Lumious City. "Here we go," Rachel said as the plane got ready to take off.
"This is turning into quite the adventure," Julie said.
"I'm glad you could tag along with us, Julie," Kairi said.
"Me too," Crystal said. "Do you think I can get Jason's autograph when we get there?"
"I don't see why not," Rachel said with a smile as the plane took off into the sky, taking the girls onto the next part of their adventure.

A/N: Just to let you all know, I will be going on a posting hiatus until the beginning of August due to me and my honey being in the process of moving house. Don't worry, I'll still come on to chat and reply to messages. I just won't be posting stories until August.
