Chapter 11
Luminous City airport, Kalos region...
The girls arrived at the Kalos region and soon were in Lumious City and were amazed at how big the city is.
"Ooh, look at those Pokémon, Rachel," Crystal said, pointing at the flock of Fletchlings flying above them. "And that's a new one too!" She pointed at a trainer walking alongside with his Meowstic.
"Wow, it's like home, only bigger," Rachel said.
"I know, Rachel, It's a variety of new pokemon and pokemon we see at home. Look, it's a Shiftry," she said, gesturing to the Shiftry with his trainer. "A Manectric," she continued, gesturing to a trainer petting her Manectric. "And look, it's a Gardevoir." She gestured to a lady carrying some bags with her Gardevoir following helping out with them as well. "Makes you wonder how many Pokemon are there in the world."
"I can't wait to see the shopping centers here to see what outfits Kalos has, I always loved their styles especially from Valerie's fashion line!" Julie said excitedly.
Rachel chuckled. "You and your fashions, Julie," she said in playful teasing, knowing how much her friend loved to check out the newest fashions.
"Hey, look at this, girls!" Kairi said, pointing to a large TV screen on the wall where a reporter was talking to Jason.
"I'm here with our Kalos Region Champion Jason, Jason with the World Coronation Series coming to an end in a few months from now for the finals to begin, how do you feel?" The reporter asked.
"It's been busy here in Kalos especially when trainers come to battle me for my title or spot in the Masters 8, but me and my Pokémon are ready take on any challenge that comes our way," Jason replied.
"That leads to my next question, the Masters 8 will be full of tough competition, especially since most of them are Champions from other regions including Galar's Champion and current reigning Monarch, Leon, do you think you'll be able to win this year's finals and beat the Unbeatable Champion?"
"Well I'll say this, it won't be easy especially after last year and how tough that was. I've known my friend Leon when I first arrived in the Galar Region and when we started traveling together with another friend of ours during my early years of traveling through different regions, he's always been one step ahead of the game and always has a plan for any opponent he faces. I can't say for sure that I can beat him, but I can certainly try, right Eevee?" Jason asked his Pokemon, who was sitting on his shoulder.
"Eevee!" She said happily.
"But right now though, my focus is on the World Junior Cup happening here in two days," Jason continued. "I can't wait to see the skills and battles that trainers will bring to the battlefield with their Pokémon and I look forward to battling the winner of this tournament and see what he or she can do with their Pokémon, so anyone who wants to enter, I suggest you register now since registration will be closing today. We look forward to seeing you at the tournament, isn't that right, Eevee?"
"Eevee!"
The female reporter chuckled at Eevee's adorableness. "And there you have it folks; that was my time with the Kalos Region Champion, Jason and like he said, registration for the event will be closing today. Coming up next, I'll be interviewing Laverre City's Gym Leader Valrie on her new fashion line coming out this fall so stay tuned for that," she said.
Kairi perked up. "Don't you have a Eevee too, Julie?" She asked.
"Yup," the girl said, pulling out a Pokeball. "Come on out, Eevee!"
Eevee came out and jumped into Julie's arms, snuggling in her embrace. "You're just the cutest little Pokémon, Eevee," Julie said to her.
"Eevee!" The small Pokemon said happily as her trainer started carrying her in her arms now.
"C'mon, Rachel, let's get you registered!" Crystal said excitedly, grabbing her sister's hand and trying to drag her near the Pokémon Center to register. Chuckling, Rachel followed with Kairi and Julie bringing up the rear.
As they walked, Rachel saw some trainers training for what she assumed was for the tournament and saw some trainers with strong looking Pokémon from a Conkeldurr to Venusaur and a Flygon to an Electivire and she felt a little intimidated seeing the competition.
"Hey Rachel, you alright? You look really nervous," Julie said, noticing her friend's nervous face.
"I'm okay," Rachel said. "Just...those are some tough Pokemon. I hope my team can survive them, seeing as I only have Absol and Sky."
"Just try to relax, everything will be fine. Just be yourself," Kairi said encouragingly.
"Well, hello beautiful, I didn't expect to see you here," came John's familiar voice, making the girls groan and glare at him.
"Get lost, loser," Rachel said.
"C'mon baby, you know you still love me, and who's your new friend? She's quite the looker and hot," John said.
"Ew! Seriously?!" Julie exclaimed in disgust. "I think I'm about to be sick."
John smirked and looked at Rachel. "So I'm guessing you're here for the tournament here too, maybe it would be best not to enter since I'm gonna win the tournament, battle and beat the champion and become the new champion here, then you'll come crawling back to me and your pink haired hot friend here, and Kairi too," he said.
"Can I ask why you dated him again, Rach?" Julie asked, recalling her friend once dated the jerk in front of them.
"I thought he was a nice guy, but he turned out to be a pompous jerk," Rachel said. "I don't know what I saw in him back then, but I'm going to teach this loser a lesson when I win the tournament."
John laughed. "You think you can win? A lot of experience trainers are entering this tournament and you just started out; you don't even have a gym badge, so how can you possibly win especially against me?" He asked.
"I don't need a fancy gym badge to put a pompous jerk like you in his proper place," she snarked back, narrowing her eyes.
"Alright then how about this? Let's have a one on one battle, there's a battlefield nearby, if I win either you or one of your friends goes on a date with me tonight," John said.
"And if I win, you never approach me or my friends and sister again," she said. "Oh, and when my sister gets more Pokemon, you owe her a proper rematch."
"Deal, not like it would matter anyway since I'm gonna win just like how I beat your loser sister in a battle before."
A moment later, he was on the ground holding his face as Rachel had slapped him hard across the face. "Don't you ever call my sister a loser again, you jerk," she growled. "Prepare to lose."
They headed towards the battlefield and Rachel pulled out a Great Ball. "Alright, Absol. Let's go!" She said, tossing the ball and out came the Dark type.
"An Absol," John said in surprise. "Alright, I'll admit ,that's impressive, more impressive than that Zubat of yours."
"Don't let Sky's small size fool you," the blonde-haired girl said. "He's getting stronger each day and who knows? Perhaps he'll one day be a Crobat."
"Yeah whatever, I know how to take care of him," John said, pulling out a Pokeball. "Go Magmortar!" He said, tossing the ball and out came the fire type.
Rachel pulled out her Pokedex to learn what she was up against.
"Magmortar, the Blast Pokemon and the evolved form of Magmar. It launches fireballs that can reach temperatures over 3,600 degrees from the ends of its arms and lives in volcanic craters," her Pokedex said.
"The evolved form of Magmar? I've never see one before," Rachel admitted.
"What do you think babe, raised him when he was just a little Magby, pretty impressive as I do say so myself since I am the best trainer in the world," John said, being snobbish and gloating.
"Careful your head doesn't get too big, John," she said. "You'll hurt yourself even harder when you fall."
Crystal, Julie, and Kairi managed to hide their giggles as they watched, rooting for Rachel.
"You know what, I'm feeling generous today," John said. "Ladies first move, dear."
"Don't ever call me that again," Rachel said in disgust. "Let's do this, Absol. Use Shadow Claw!"
Absol jumped forward towards Magmortar as his claw became surrounded by a black aura with a purple outline, which took the form of a claw ready to slash.
John smirked. "Use Focus Blast!"
Magmortar raised one of his arms and his hand disappeared into his arm cannon. An orange ball of energy formed in front of the cannon and he fired it at Absol. The attack landed as the orb exploded causing Absol to slide back taking serious damage from the super effective fighting type attack.
"Keep up the pressure, Flamethrower, go!" John exclaimed.
Magmortar put both of his arms in front of him and fired two red-orange streams of fire from his arm cannons at the Dark type.
"Quick, Absol, use Dark Pulse!" Rachel said.
Absol opened his mouth and a light purple orb of energy surrounded in black and purple rings of energy appeared in his mouth and fired a beam of black and purple rings of energy from the orb at the incoming fire type attack. Both attacks collide creating an explosion. When the dust cleared both sides were still standing.
"Good job, Absol!" Rachel praised him.
"Absol!" Absol said with pride.
"Okay not bad, but you still can't win," John said. "Use Thunder Punch!"
Magmortar started running towards Absol and formed a ball of yellow electricity accompanied by yellow sparks at the end of one of his arm cannons.
"Quick, intercept it with Megahorn!" Rachel said.
Absol's horn glowed green and grew in size and he charged towards the fire type. The two attacks collided and Magmortar's attack was just a little stronger and pushed Absol back, landing the electric type attack and causes him to slide back.
John laughed. "See I told you that you can't win. Why don't you just give up and quit embarrassing yourself?" He asked.
"We're not giving up yet," Rachel said firmly. "Absol, you ready to prove this jerk wrong?"
"Absol!" The Dark type said, standing taller.
John glared at her. "Well then, let me finish this. Use Fire Blast!"
Magmortar raised one of his arms and took aim as his hand disappeared into his arm cannon. A ball of red-orange fire then appeared in front of the cannon and he fired it as it then took a大-shape at Absol.
Rachel saw how carefree he was being and saw a pattern and decided to use it to her advantage. "Absol, jump up and use Razor Wind!" She commanded.
Absol jumped up into the air, dodging the fire type attack as it created a fiery explosion where Absol was and the scythe on his head glowed white and he swung his head, sending out a white crescent blade of energy at Magmortar, who took the hit and catching John off guard as he was celebrating too early.
"Wait, what just happened?!" He asked in shock.
"The tables are turning, that's what's happening," Rachel said. "Use Dark Pulse!"
Absol once again did the attack at Magmortar, the attack landing with a solid hit and creating an explosion.
John was now getting frustrated. "Flamethrower, now!" He commanded.
"Quick, use Shadow Claw!" The blonde-haired girl said.
Magmortar did as he was told, trying to aim the attack, but Absol rushed in quickly with Shadow Claw and he slashed at the Blast Pokemon before the Fire type could launch his attack.
"How are you landing these attacks?!" John asked in shock.
"Easy, I noticed that whenever Magmortar uses Focus Blast, Flamethrower, or Fire Blast, he needs to take aim and fire and whenever he uses Thunder Punch, he's slow running at his opponent and since Absol is faster that him, all he has to do is move around fast so Magmortar has a hard time aiming. And I'm also smarter than you," Rachel said.
"You tell him, Rach!" Crystal cheered.
"Teach that jerk a lesson!" Julie said.
"Show him what you're made of!" Kairi cheered.
John lost it after hearing all that. "WHY...! MAGMORTAR USE FIRE BLAST NOW!" He shouted.
Magmortar did as told, trying to once again land an attack on Absol, but Rachel saw the opening she needed. "Let's end this," she said. "Absol, dodge and use Razor Wind one more time."
Absol jumped up, again avoiding the fire attack as he fired his attack at Magmortar, creating another explosion. When the dust cleared, it showed Magmortar knocked out.
"What?! NOO!" John exclaimed.
"Magmortar is unable to battle. Absol wins, which means the match goes to Rachel!" Kairi said.
Rachel smiled as Absol went up to her side and sat down. "Good job, Absol," she said, stroking his head. "You're getting a special poffin tonight as a treat."
"Absol," he said happily.
"Magmortar, return," John said, making the Pokemon return to the Pokeball. "Anyways, don't celebrate just yet because, I let you win that battle. I just felt sorry for you that's all, babe."
"I'm not your babe, John. You lost fair and square because you couldn't take advantage like you did in the last battle with my sister," Rachel said. "You're a jerk and a loser and you'll be an even bigger loser when either myself, Kairi, Julie, or Crystal beat you at the tournament."
"Yeah, well just you wait until the tournament! I'll show you my full power there, if you can get in that is since registration will be closing soon and...,"
He didn't get to finish his sentence as the girls ran for it, leaving him behind as they rushed to find the Pokemon Center. It took an hour since the city was so big, but the girls finally made it late in the afternoon as they ran through the front door.
"Hello and welcome to the Pokémon Center, how may I help you?" Nurse Joy asked with a smile.
Rachel took a minute to catch her breath. "Hello, Nurse Joy. Can you help me get registered for the upcoming tournament, please?" She asked politely.
"I sure can," Nurse Joy said with a smile. "If you please touch this panel here with your Pokedex."
Rachel placed her Pokedex on the screen and it lit up.
"Rachel from Littleroot Town is now registered to enter the World Junior Cup, we wish you the best of luck," a computerized voice said.
"You're all registered, good luck, train hard and always do your best," Nurse Joy said.
"Thank you, Nurse Joy," Rachel said with a smile.
"You're going to win, Rachel. I just know it," Julie said with a smile.
"If I do, you three are coming with me to meet Jason," the blonde-haired promised.
"You mean it, sis?" Crystal asked, her eyes wide with excitement.
"You bet, kiddo," Rachel said. "Maybe we should try catching a new Pokemon while we're here. What do you girls think?"
"We do have some time before the tournament. We could check out the nearby forest," Kairi said.
The girls decided to use the rest of the day to explore, not knowing that overhead, something was flying towards Earth at rapid speed.
Please leave me and robotman25 a review, but no flames!
