Chapter 12

That evening, Kairi and Julie, along with Crystal were looking for Rachel and they finally found her in the computer room. "Hey Rach, what are you doing?" Kairi asked.

Rachel jumped, startled as she didn't expect them. "Sorry Rach," Kairi apologized. "Anyways, what are you doing? It's almost like midnight."

"Looking through data," Rachel replied.

"Data? Data on what?" Julie asked.

"On John, if I'm gonna put him in his place in the tournament I need to be ready; take a look, girls."

The girls looked to see John's profile with his battle records, pokemon, and badges listed there. "So apparently this is who he'll be using in the tournament," she continued as the computer showed data on Gallade, Magmortar, Salamence, Electrode, Swampert, and Honchkrow.

"Those look like strong Pokémon, sis," Crystal said.

"You have a strategy on how your gonna deal with any one of them? Cause it's singles during the tournament then the finals will be a two on two battle," Kairi said.

Rachel sighed. "Nothing yet, but I just got do some more research then I might be able to come up with a battle strategy," she said.

"See I knew you were still interested in me, babe," came John's voice and they were surprised to see John on the other side of the computers, apparently eavesdropping on them.

"Go away, you big meanie!" Crystal said angrily.

"Yeah. Get lost," Kairi said.

"Anyways, what are you doing here, besides being a creep stalking girls?" Julie asked.

"Just doing a little research of my own like Rachel," John replied.

"You better do more than a little, because when it comes to battles Rachel is no push over," Kairi said firmly.

"Yeah, my big sis is gonna beat you!" Crystal said.

John laughed. "I wasn't looking at Rachel's data; I was looking up Jason's data and it's very interesting to say the least, you girls want to take a look?" He asked.

Though they disliked John, they were very curious and decide to take a look and come over on the other side to see what John was seeing.

"Apparently before becoming champion, Jason's been to other regions in the world and competed in many different events and tournaments, from Alola to Galar then Unova, Kanto, Johto, Sinnoh, then Kalos and he's even been to a region called Paldea for a bit too," the young man said.

"And why are you looking up the places he's been too?" Kairi asked curiously.

So I can see what Pokemon he has, duh. Apparently he has a variety of Pokémon he's caught from all different regions before becoming Champion. He pulled up another tab that shows his pics and information of all his Pokemon he had "And a lot of strong ones too.

"Wow, I've never seen a lot of those pokemon before," Crystal said.

"That's because a lot of them are from regions not native to Hoenn, stupid," John replied, finding himself on th ground as Rachel smacked him hard.

"Don't you ever say that to her again," she growled angrily.

John rubbed the place where Rachel smacked/hit him. "Well anyways, it won't matter anyways, my Pokémon can take out every single one of his Pokémon in one shot since I am the best trainer in the world," he said, being braggy and snobbish.

Don't be so sure," Rachel said as she tried to focus on something else." "With an attitude like that, you couldn't even beat a Sunkern or Magikarp in a battle."

Kairi nodded and John laughed." Yeah, right,"He said, getting up to leave. "Besides if you think a skilled trainer like me doesn't stand a chance against the champ, then what makes you think you have any chance at all having barley any experience in battle," he said as her words came right back around. "You'll just get swept and embarrass yourself in front of thousands of people and be a laughing stock, Night ladies," he said, closing the door behind him.

The girls saw how nervous Rachel was. "Rach? He's just bluffing, right?" Julie asked.

"I don't know, Julie," the blonde-haired girl said. "John may be right for once in his life."

"But sis, you've got a strong team too," Crystal said. "You got Sky and Absol. They're both very strong and they won't give up."

"She's right," Kairi said. "Don't give John's words another thought, Rach. Let's get some sleep."

Rachel reluctantly agreed and the girls fell sound asleep.

The next morning, the girls woke up to find Rachel gone from her bed and they found her in the computer room again, this time watching a video and there were many books around her as well. If they didn't know any better, the girls would have assumed the blonde-haired girl was working on a thesis for college instead of studying Pokemon moves and trainers.

"And that's River's third Pokémon down! Torterra manages to take Seismitoad's Hammer Arm and lured him in for a close range Leaf Storm taking Seismitoad out of the match! River is in a tough spot right only having three of his Pokémon left while Jason has all six of his Pokémon still, managing to counter all of River's strategies so far!" The announcer in the video said.

"Sis?" Crystal called out.

Rachel yelped in surprise, having been so engrossed in the video that she hadn't heard them come up to her. "Oh, hey, girls," she said. "You scared me."

"Please tell us you haven't been here all night on the computer and at least got some sleep?" Julie said.

"No, I got some sleep, just woke up a few hours ago, I was trying to figure out what to do for a strategy to use in the tournament," Rachel admitted.

"Any luck?" Kairi asked.

"No, I've looked up everything on battling and looked up videos of battles as well, but I'm coming up with nothing...ugh!" Rachel slammed her head on the keyboard, obviously tired and a little cranky.

"Come on, you need a break and to relax a bit," Julie said. "Let's go get some breakfast. I hear the hot chocolate here is really good, as are the pancakes and waffles."

A small smile came to Rachel's face as she realized what her friend was doing. "You had me at hot chocolate," she said. "And you're right. Maybe I'm overthinking all this and letting John's words get to me."

They went and enjoyed a wonderful breakfast, to which everyone felt better and they decided to take a walk out of the city and down a route to get their minds off the tournament and to see what new Pokemon lived in the Kalos region.

In the forest They saw some new pokemon they've never seen before like a flock of Fletchlings flying above to some Combees and Flabébés of different colors moving along in the forest.

"Wow," Kairi said as a Flabébé with a red flower came up to her. One with an orange flower came up to Rachel and one with a yellow flower went up to Crystal. One with a white flower went up to Julie and the girls giggled.

"They're so cool!" Crystal said.

"Perhaps one of these can be one of your next Pokemon, Crystal," Rachel said.

"That would be so awesome," the little girl said.

"I could definitely see you with one of these as your Pokemon," Julie said.

Kairi pulled out her Pokedex to see what it said. "Flabébé, the Single Bloom Pokemon. Flabébé can pick the color and shape of the flower they desire and the crown around their head is the pollen of their chosen flower. This pollen is known to be good for healing," the Pokedex said.

"That really is cool," Kairi said with a smile.

"Hey you, yeah, you four."

The four turned as the Flabébés moved away and saw a girl who wore a neon green t-shirt with white jeans and black shoes approach them. "Have you four seen any Beautifilies around here?"

"Beautifilies? I didn't know they live here in Kalos," Kairi said.

"They don't. Beautifilies, Dustoxes, and their pre-evolved forms aren't native to the Kalos region, but apparently their have been rumors there was one around here," the girl said.

"Really? Rachel, do you think we'll find it?" Crystal asked, wanting to see a Beautifly.

"Perhaps we will," Rachel said, curious to see one herself.

"Listen here you four, that Beautifly is mine so you better stay away from that Beautifly if you know what's good for you!" The girl said.

"And just who do you think you are to boss us around?" Julie asked angrily.

"Yeah, your attitude stinks," Kairi said.

"I'm Annabelle, and I'll say it one last time; that Beautifly is mine!" The girl said.

"Listen here you, what gives you the right to tell us what we can or can't do! I say whoever finds that Beautifly first has the right to catch it fair and square," Julie said, to which her friends nodded in agreement.

"Says who, pinkie? Just stay out of my way and keep away from that Beautifly or else!" Annabelle said, walking away.

"Well, she's charming...if you like rude people," Rachel said sarcastically.

"She's mean," Crystal said.

"I hope she doesn't find that Beautifly cause I would feel so sorry for it to have her as a trainer," Kairi said.

"You and me both," Julie said.

The girls continued walking down the route, enjoying the nature until they saw a figure in the shadows that looked like a person and curiously Crystal walks up to the mysterious figure. "Ummm, excuse me, are you okay?" She asked, gently tapping the person on the shoulder.
The figure turns and they could then see in the light that it wasn't a person but a Pokemon instead and both Crystal and the Pokémon got spooked.

Rachel pulled out her Pokedex to see what Pokemon it was. "Vespiquen, the Beehive Pokémon, and the evolved form of female Combees. Her body is a hive and she raises her offspring with the honey gathered by the Combees," the computer voice said.

Rachel ran up and gently pulled her little sister away from the Vespiquen, who was ready to attack. "We can handle this girls; it's 4 against 1, right?" She asked.

Suddenly about 100 Combees came hearing their queen call for them and the girls pale slightly at the massive horde.

"Umm, Rach, I think we need a new plan…RUN!" Kairi screamed.

The girls began running for their lives as the horde of Combee chased after them. After awhile, the girls finally manage to escape the swarm of Combee and were now trying to catch their breath.

"Okay, new rule. Be very careful of what we approach in the forest," Rachel said.

"I'm sorry," Crystal said, almost in tears.

"It's okay, kiddo," her older sister said gently. "I know you had good intentions."

"Hey, where's Julie?" Kairi asked, looking around.

Their friend wasn't with them. "She's gone!" Crystal exclaimed in horror.

"We must have gotten separated form her while running from the Combees," Rachel said before pulling out one of her Pokeballs and tossing it up, releasing Sky.

"Zubat!" He said before looking at his trainer.

"Sky, can you help us find Julie?" Rachel asked. "We got separated from her as we were escaping a horde of Combees."

"Zu, Zubat," Sky replied, taking to the skies to try and find Julie.

Meanwhile...

Julie managed to escape the Combees and caught her breath. "I think we lost them, girls…..Rachel? Kairi? Crystal? Where are you girls?!" She panicked at seeing she got separated from her friends. "Oh, no."

She then took a deep breath. "Okay, calm down," she said, breathing out slowly. "I just have to find them again."

Julie began walking, keeping her eyes open for any more Combee and other Pokemon. As she was looking around, she heard a cry and followed it to see a beautiful butterfly Pokemon trapped in a net and it was stuck. "Whoa, is that what I think it is?" She asked as she pulled out her Pokedex to see.

"Beautifly, the Butterfly Pokémon, and the evolved form of Silcoon. Beautifly is recognized by its distinctive colorful patterns on its wings. When flowers are in full bloom, Beautifly fly about, gathering pollen," the Pokedex said.

Julie looked at the movesets for Beautifly and was shocked. "Whoa, those are the moves that this Beautifly knows!?" She said in surprise.

The Beautifly looked up at her, looking afraid. "Hey, it's okay," Julie said gently. "I'm not going to hurt you."

She saw an oran berry bush nearby and grabbed a few, showing them to Beautifly, who grew curious and stuck out its tongue to taste the berry that Julie carefully crushed in her hand so that the Pokemon could drink the juice. The Beautifly calmed down after eating the berries and Julie carefully lifted up the net, setting it free. "There you go," she said.

"Beautifly!" The Pokemon said happily, nuzzling the girl's hands in thanks.

"You're welcome," she said. "Hey, would you like to be my Pokemon? I promise you'll be well treated."

The Beautifly nodded, allowing the girl to catch it before the Pokeball registered the catch and Julie let her new Pokemon out, to which Beautifly nuzzled her new owner's face happily. "Welcome to the team, Beautifly," she said.

"Julie!" She heard someone call out and saw her friends coming up to her. "There you are! We've been looking all over for you."

"Hey, girls," she said. "Look who I found."

Crystal gasped. "She's so pretty!" She said.

The Beautifly went up to Crystal and let the little girl pet its head. "I think it likes us," Kairi said as Beautifly flew up to her and she gently pet it. Rachel smiled as the Beautifly came up to her and she gave it a gentle pet.

"How did you find this one, Julie?" The older girl asked.

"She was trapped in a net and scared. I fed her some berries and got her to realize I just wanted to help," Julie said. "After that, she let me catch her."

"Which means she's yours, fair and square," Kairi said.

"Hey!"

The girls turned to see Annabelle running up to them "I thought I told you to stay out of my way! Let's go Clawitzer!" She said, pulling out a Dive Ball and was about to throw it.

"Now listen here you, I already caught this Beautifly, so why don't you take a hike and beat it!" Julie said.

"You what!?" Annabelle asked furiously before getting a devious idea. "Alright then, how about this? Let's have a one-on-one Pokémon battle and the winner gets to keep the Beautifly."

"And why should I agree to something like that when Beautifly is with me?"

"Should've figured you would say that. Only a coward would say something like that."

"What did you just say!?" Julie asked in anger.

"You heard me. You probably suck at battling and know you would lose to me, so you chickened out because you're a pathetic trainer, pinkie," Annabelle sneered.

"If you think I would lose to a brat like you, then you've got another thing coming. Fine, I accept your challenge!" The pink-haired girl said.

Beautifly grew nervous and hid behind Kairi, who nodded. "Don't worry, Julie's going to win," she said reassuringly.

"No one's taking you away, Beautifly," Crystal said.

Rachel stepped up to be referee. "This battle is a one-on-one battle. The trainer to win gets to keep the Beautifly. If the trainers are ready, select your Pokemon," she said.

"You're going down, pinkie. Clawitzer, go!" Annabelle tossed the Dive ball and out came the Howitzer Pokémon.

"Who's that Pokémon?" Julie asked, pulling out her Pokedex, which began to speak.

"Clawitzer, the Howitzer Pokémon and the evolved form of Clauncher. Clawitzer can travel at nearly 70 miles an hour when it propels itself by shooting water from the back of its claw. Their enormous claw can also launch cannonballs of water powerful enough to pierce tanker hulls."

Julie put her Pokedex away as she saw her Beautifly in front of her, apparently changing its mind about being on the sidelines and wanting to battle. "You want to battle, Beautifly? Alright, Beautifly, go!" She said.

Annabelle laughed. "This should be a piece of cake. Clawitzer, use Crabhammer!"

Clawitzer's big claw became surrounded in water and charged at the Bug/Flying type.

"Dodge it quick!" Julie said.

Beautifly flew up high in the sky as she dodged Clawitzer's Crabhammer, the attack missing her.

"Try dodging this, use Water Pulse back to back!" Annabelle commanded.

Clawitzer aimed his large claw in the air and fired multiple blasts of water at Beautifly like a cannon.

"Dodge them all, then use Gust!" Julie said.

Beautifly managed to dodge each blast of water with grace as her wings glowed light blue and she started flapping her wings at high speed releasing a powerful gust of wind, the powerful gust of wind hitting the water type as he started sliding back a bit from the Gust.

"Good job, Beautifly!" Crystal cheered.

"Don't let that little bug push you around, use Aqua Jet!" Annabelle commanded.

Clawitzer's body became surrounded by water and he shot himself like a rocket through the Gust and slammed into the Butterfly Pokemon, stopping her gust and causing her to crash into the ground.

"Beautifly!" Rachel cried out, worried the attack did a lot of damage.

"You're finished! Water Pulse!" Annabelle said, thinking she was about to win.

Clawitzer aimed his large claw at Beautifly, about to fire a blast of water at her.

"Quick, use Stun Spore!" Julie called out.

Beautifly quickly managed to get back in the air and flapped her wings, releasing sparkling orange powder from them. Clawitzer was about to fire until he got hit with the large cloud of sparkling orange powder, paralyzing him and stopping him from attacking, albeit briefly.

"If you think you can beat us with simple moves like Gust and Stun Spore, then your even dumber than I thought. Finish this with Aqua Jet!" The now-angry Annabelle said.

Clawitzer managed to move and attack as his body became surrounded by water again and shot himself like a rocket towards Beautifly, ready to finish this.

Julie smirked. "We have a few tricks of our own that will take you down. Now Beautifly! Use Electroweb!" She said.

"Electroweb?" Kairi asked in surprise. "Isn't that an electric attack?"

"Yes," Rachel said, also stunned.

Beautifly fired a stream of yellow electricity from her proboscis at the incoming Clawitzer. Soon the tip of the stream of yellow electricity opened up and expanded forming a circular yellow electrical net.

"What? Electroweb? No way!" Annabelle said in shock.

Unable to dodge, Clawitzer hit the Electroweb with his Aqua Jet full on and got trapped in the electrical net, struggling to get out and getting electrocuted as well taking damage from the supper effective Electric type attack.

"Now for the grand finale. Use Solar Beam!" Julie commanded.

Beautifly wings glowed yellow as she gathered sunlight and a yellow ball of energy formed in between her antennae and fired a bright yellow beam of energy at Clawitzer, who was still struggling to get free and he got hit, creating a large explosion from the super effective grass type attack. When the smoke cleared it showed Clawitzer freed from Electroweb but knocked out from the Solar Beam.

"Clawitzer is unable to continue! Which means Julie and her Beautifly are the winners!" Rachel announced, grinning hugely.

"You did it, guys!" Crystal cheered.

"Way to go!" Kairi said happily.

"Clawitzer, return!" Annabelle said, making her Pokemon return to his Dive ball. "That Beautifly knows Electroweb and Solar Beam I'm gonna get that Beautifly for myself if it's the last thing I do and none of you can stop me!"

She pulled out a large net and ran towards the Beautifly, swinging the net trying to catch her, but misses as Beautifly flew back towards Julie.

"Hey, leave her alone!" Julie said angrily. "I won fair and square. Beautifly is mine and you can't have her!"

"Who asked you, pinkie?!" Annabelle said, running towards them again.

Beautifly fired another Solar Beam at Annabelle, stopping her cold. When the attack finished, the girl was covered in soot from head to toe and her net turned to ash, to which she ran away, scared.

"Serves her right," Rachel said with a curt nod.

"She totally deserved that for being a cheater," Kairi agreed.

Crystal nodded before grinning. "Plus, Beautifly chose Julie," she said. "She made the right choice. Julie's better than that mean girl."

"Beautifly!" Beautifly said in agreement as the girls agreed too.

Alright, everyone! robotman25 and myself are pleased to announce this story is one year old! :) We are surprised, but happy and as a result, we have a special contest we are holding! :)

The contest is: Guess what Rachel's next Pokemon is going to be! :) Don't worry, you'll be given two hints and you'll be allowed one guess. Whoever guesses right will have their OC and three Pokemon of their choice featured in a chapter in this story! :)

Now, for the rules:

1. To make it fair to everyone, this will be a one-time winner deal. If you do win and get a chapter, then when robotman25 and myself do another contest, we ask that you allow someone else the chance to win. We want to be fair to everyone and we will be keeping track of the winners, including guest users. We will announce the winner or winners in the next chapter.

If there is more than one winner, each winner will get a chapter with their OC and three Pokemon of their choice, but once again, this is a one-time winner deal. Please be considerate and fair to others.

2. No NSFW for the story! This story is for everyone, so please do not ask for any NSFW stuff for your chapter. If you do, robotman25 and myself will disqualify you and the chapter will go to another winner. If you are uncertain about what NSFW stuff we mean, you can message me or robotman25 and we will reply. Guest users: you can leave questions in the reviews and either myself or robotman25 will reply in the reviews.

3. If you do win, your OC will be allowed to have three Pokemon from any of the known regions. This also includes the regions in the new Scarlet and Violet games. :) You may also pick what town your OC is from.

4. No obscene words or language, spoken or on clothing. Again, this story is for everyone. Please be considerate.

5. If you want, your OC can have one Legendary/Mythical Pokemon for their team of three. The Legendary/Mythical Pokemon robotman25 and myself will allow are the ones in this list:

Registeel, Regirock, Regice, Latios, Latias, Darkrai, Heatran, Shaymin, Cresselia, Kubfu, Urshifu, and Zeraora.

Again, only one Legendary/Mythical for your OC's team of three.

6. Last but not least, because your OC will be featured in just one chapter, they cannot be a gym leader or champion. They can be a trainer, a merchant, or anything else, but not a champion or gym leader.

Now, when we say champion, we mean like the big league championship. Your OC can be a tournament winner to win badges or ribbons, whichever you choose, but no big league stuff. We are trying to be fair for everyone.

And now, here are your clues for what Rachel's next Pokemon will be:

1. The Pokemon will be a water-type.

2. The Pokemon is from the Kanto region.

Leave your guesses in the comments. Guest viewers are welcomed to guess as well. The winner will be announced in the next chapter. :)

Good luck! :)

And please leave robotman25 and myself a review, but no flames!
