Meanwhile on the bus ride from Lima to Akron, Quinn had her headphones in trying to drown out everything that was going on around her. She had a lot on her mind and was trying to keep her nerves under control. She knew Sue would look to her to be perfect, especially at a game in another city. There couldn't be any flaws in the Cheerios routine or Sue would read them for filth afterwards calling the team and Quinn as their captain an embarrassment. She tried to stay focused on the game ahead rather than everything else that was plaguing her, especially the big secret she was keeping from everyone including her own twin sister.
It wasn't that Quinn didn't trust Grace to keep her mouth shut. She knew Grace could keep a secret. After all, Quinn's 'Lucy Caboosey' days hadn't ever been mentioned or speculated about. She knew Grace held all the cards to show Quinn wasn't as perfect as she seemed and Grace had never once used it against her. Quinn's worry was the fact of how much Grace couldn't stand Puck.
Unlike every other girl at the school, Grace wasn't under his spell. Many girls found his whole bad boy image sexy, but Grace had always thought he was trouble from the first day she had met him. To Grace, he was the epitome of everything she found wrong with the popular kids. Puck was constantly tormenting the so-called losers and was even the first person in the entire school to give someone a slushie facial, something that made him a McKinley High legend. He also was repeating his sophomore year for the 2nd time, something people tended to disregard thinking he was 'cool' for failing. There were a number of times Quinn had wanted to tell her younger sister the truth, but Quinn was terrified. Grace also tended to look down on cheaters, which Quinn already knew she had messed up cheating on Finn but hearing it from her twin would make her feel that much worse about it.
Unfortunately, the further Quinn carried her secret alone, the more guilty she felt. She didn't know if she could trust anyone with the truth. Her so-called best friends Brittany and Santana wouldn't be much help. Santana was always looking for a reason to take Quinn down a notch and Quinn hooking up with Santana's on again off again boyfriend wasn't something she would take well to. While Brittany on the other hand, would be a lot less harsh and judgemental, she couldn't keep a secret to save her life. Brittany had accidentally blurted out many secrets that people had told her, so Quinn knew there was no way she could trust her with this secret. The only person she knew she could truly trust was Grace. She knew telling her twin had to be easier than admitting the truth to her boyfriend, right? As Quinn tried to focus back on the music, she tried to let her fears subside, but sadly for Quinn, they wouldn't go away that easily.
Grace arrived back home after Glee auditions to change and get ready to meet Quinn at the game in Akron that night. Unlike her parents who barely made any of the girls performances or games, Grace tried to always be there for her sister, knowing how much effort Quinn put into being cheer captain.
Before the drive Grace quickly checked her MySpace as she had promised Rachel she would watch her latest video. She couldn't help but be horrified at all of the horrible comments people had posted on the video, even before she had watched. The top comment was of course from her sister.
Sky Splits: "If I were your parents, I would sell you back".
Grace knew how awful that comment was. It was no secret that Rachel had been adopted by a gay couple, but saying they should sell her back to whoever the adopted her from was a low blow, even for her power hungry sister, especially when now she might be faced with the same reality if she turned out to be pregnant.
Another Cheerio Commented "I'm going to scratch out my eyes."
Then the Cheerios page, which was by Santana Lopez wrote "Please get sterilized."
Grace decided she needed to stop looking at the comments and actually watch and listen to the video. Though Rachel wasn't her favorite person, Grace was always incredibly anti-bullying, so she decided to leave a positive comment to counteract all of the negative ones.
Graceful Dancer: "Great performance, keep it up!"
Grace truly felt Rachel had nailed the performance and felt satisfied as she posted her comment and shut down her laptop before taking the Volkswagen Bug to drive the hour long drive to Toledo, excited to watch the upcoming game.
Santana's phone got an alert on MySpace seeing there was a new comment on Rachel's video but rolled her eyes when she saw what it said. "Ugh take a look at the other Fabray's comment on Berry's video," Santana scoffed as some of the other cheerleaders quickly checked MySpace, all but Quinn who was still lost in her own world, listening to music.
"What is she in love with Berry or something," Heather, another cheerleader, cackled.
"Probably..I mean she's always been so weird and reserved. Repressed almost," Shelby, another cheerleader added.
"You ladies thinking what I'm thinking?" Santana smirked.
"That Lord Tubbington is plotting to take over the world?" Brittany said innocently as Santana laughed, shaking her head.
"No Britt, Britt, I think it's time to stop protecting the queen bee's sister and time to get her to fall in line," Santana smirked as the other cheerleaders murmured muffled agreements but Brittany didn't look so certain about this.
"What if Quinn finds out we're behind it?" Brittany asked, slightly concerned.
"Please, Q won't care. Even if she does it's not like it'll bring her down any. If anything people will feel sorry for her and that equals more votes for her as homecoming queen, which you know is everything she wants," Santana smirked as Brittany nodded, still unsure about all of this and hoped Santana and the other Cheerios wouldn't do anything to mean to Grace.
Later that night, it was time for the Titans' game against the Rams. Grace sat in the crowd ready to cheer on the team as well as her sister Quinn who was leading the Cheerios as they began to get the crowd into the game before it started. The Titans soon ran out as Finn led them as the crowd cheered. The game soon began with the Titans losing the coin toss to the Rams. Things throughout the game didn't fare much better with the Titans quickly getting far behind. Grace bit her lip, nervous that the Titans hadn't scored. She knew the team wasn't the best but seeing them lose so severely was just like another slap in the face for them. The score was 21 - 0 by the time it was halftime.
"Alright ladies, let's give them something to celebrate and show that McKinley High actually has some talent," Sue told the Cheerios.
"You've got it Coach," Quinn said seriously.
"Q, don't disappoint me," Sue said.
"I won't," Quinn assured Sue as the Cheerios began to perform their routine, perfectly in sync which seemed to hype up the crowd. Grace watched cheering them on, enjoying the Cheerios performance, seeing how perfectly her sister had led them. The Cheerios ended posing with Quinn lifted in the center posing with her hands in the air as the crowd went wild for them. Grace gave them a standing ovation, proud of her sister. Quinn smiled back at her twin, grateful that Grace was always there to support her, no matter what.
After the halftime show, the Titans went back to an incredibly lackluster game, not even scoring a touchdown and once again severely losing to the Rogers High Rams, something Coach Tanaka didn't seem happy about. Grace frowned, sad the team lost once again but she was proud of how well her sister had done. Quinn, meanwhile was more focused in her own world, though the Titans had lost, it hadn't meant much to her. She had expected them to lose. She knew Finn wouldn't be happy and she would need to try to get him not to be discouraged. She hoped the loss might keep his mind occupied. She knew she had to start working on their campaign for Homecoming King and Queen which was what she was going to keep herself focused on, rather than her worries and fears about telling Finn the truth. She hoped somehow this was just a false alarm, but was that just wishful thinking? Only time would tell.
