Ever since their heart to heart the night before, Quinn and Grace started to grow close once again. Finn had told Quinn that he had to help his mom before school and wouldn't be riding with them. Something Quinn found slightly weird but tried not to question it, which left Quinn and Grace in the car alone.
"So, have you given any thought to telling him the truth?" Grace asked.
Quinn sighed "I know I should. I just don't know if he'll believe me. I mean Puck is his best friend and I did eventually say okay but he wouldn't let up," she said emotionally as Grace shook her head, feeling awful that her sister was in this position.
"I get how complicated this all is but Quinn, I really think it's better if the truth comes from you and not from someone else. I know that's a really harsh thing to say, and I doubt Puck has told him anything but it's better he hears your side of what happened and not just that it happened," Grace said seriously as Quinn sighed, knowing her sister was right.
"Look, can we not worry about it until it's something to actually worry about? We'll find out from the doctor next Friday what's going on when we go. Until then, I just can't think about it," Quinn said seriously as Grace nodded, knowing her sister once again wanted to pretend like her problems didn't exist.
They then arrived at the high school and Quinn parked in her parking spot. "Fine, but I really think the sooner you talk about it, the better," Grace said as Quinn shook her head.
"You just don't get it Gracie," Quinn said as she grabbed her duffle bag "Now if you'll excuse me I have a Cheerios practice to run." She then headed off to the football field as Grace sighed watching her sister leave, wishing she knew what the right answer was to this complicated problem.
Grace headed to the auditorium for the second before school rehearsal for Glee Club. Much to her surprise, there was a brand new member, one she hadn't expected to see in the least.
"Finn? What are you doing here?" Grace asked as Finn got that deer in the headlights look he seemed to get when he was nervous.
"Crap…I forgot you were a part of this club," Finn said nervously.
"Yeah I am…that doesn't explain what you're doing here," Grace said, confused as Finn sighed.
"Look, just don't tell Quinn I'm here okay?" Finn said nervously as Grace was about to say something, rehearsals were about to begin as Mr. Schue took over the floor.
"Alright guys, as you may have noticed we have a new member that's joined us, please give a warm welcome to Finn Hudson," Mr. Schue smiled as Mercedes gave a bit of lackluster applause, Grace gave more of a confused applause, Artie and Tina gave him a kind applause, while Rachel and Kurt both eagerly applauded their newest member, someone who they both had a crush on.
"Hi everyone," Finn said nervously, unsure of how to react to the new surroundings.
"Now, Finn, I was hoping you could take the male lead in our newest song, the finale duet from Grease 'You're the One That I Want'," Mr. Schue said, handing Finn the sheet music.
"Umm, yeah sure Mr. Schue," Finn said nervously looking over the male lead. Rachel, however, was even more eager that she had the female lead.
"Kurt, I know I had originally given you the lead but I promise we'll find another song better suited for your voice," Mr. Schue said seriously.
"That's fine with me Mr. Schue," Kurt said seriously, seeming more intrigued to hear how Finn sang than anything else.
"Alright! Let's get started, Brad," Mr. Schue said, cueing the piano player to play 'You're the One That I Want'.
Finn:
I got chills, they're multiplyin'
And I'm losin' control
'Cause the power you're supplyin'
It's electrifyin'!
Rachel (New Directions):
You better shape up (Doo doo doo)
'Cause I need a man (Doo doo doo)
But my heart is set on you (Doo doo doo, and my heart is set on you)
You better shape up (Doo doo doo)
You better understand (Doo doo doo)
To my heart I must be true (Doo doo doo)
Finn and Rachel:
Nothin' left, nothin' left for me to do (Doo doo doo)
You're the one that I want (You are the one I want)
Finn and Rachel with the New Directions:
Ooh, ooh, ooh, honey
Finn and Rachel:
The one that I wan-
"Oh hell to the no!" Mercedes exclaimed annoyed as the other New Directions looked horrified "Look, I'm not down with this background singing nonsense. I'm Beyonce. I ain't no Kelly Rowland."
"Okay, look, Mercedes, it's just one song," Mr. Schue offered.
"And it's the first time we've been kind of good," Kurt agreed.
"Okay, you're good, white boy. I'll give you that. But you better bring it. Let's run it again," Mercedes said sarcastically.
"All right, let's do it. From the top," Mr. Schue grinned as the New Directions began to run through the song once again, this time without any interruptions from Mercedes.
"Alright guys, that's a wrap. I think this was a really successful rehearsal. This Saturday, we're going to go on a little field trip to Akron to see our main competition, Vocal Adrenaline at their invitational," Mr. Schue said as the New Directions chatted excitedly as Finn raised his hand.
"Uhh Mr. Schue, I don't know if I can go, I have football practice this Saturday," Finn said, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Oh well I want kind of hoping we could do this together as a group, but if you can't get out of football practice, I understand," Mr. Schue said seriously as Finn nodded appreciatively but seemed to want to go with the group rather than go to football practice.
"You guys can head to class," Mr. Schue said as the New Directions gathered their belongings and began to head out of the auditorium.
Grace decided to catch up with Finn who was heading to football practice. "Hey, you never answered my question about what you were doing in Glee Club," Grace said as Finn sighed.
"You're really not going to let this go are you?" he frowned.
"No…because it just doesn't seem like something you would do…and keeping it a secret from Quinn definitely raises more questions than answers," Grace said seriously as Finn sighed.
"Look, I kind of have to be in Glee Club, Mr. Schue found something in my locker and I could've been in detention for six weeks or I could be in Glee Club, so I chose to be in Glee Club. If anyone finds out, people are going to think I'm lame but I couldn't have six weeks of detention on my permanent record, my mom would freak," Finn said as Grace nodded, seeming to understand where he was coming from.
"Your secret is safe with me…but the club does a lot of performances around the school and usually at every assembly including the homecoming assembly next week, so your secret might not be as safe as you think," Grace said as she walked off as Finn looked more nervous than before, would the entire school find out that he was in Glee Club?
Would he have to admit that he had to choose to be in there instead of six weeks detention? How would Quinn react when she found out? Those thoughts raced through his mind as he hoped this could all come to an end sooner rather than later.
