Harry walked back onto the Grid still feeling sick at the thought someone had gone to the Rehab Centre with the express intent on hurting his daughter. The idea anyone would want to attack Catherine was abhorrent to him but he knew it was a risk the whole team took. He headed into his office, not looking at any of the team as Ros explained what had happened. Catherine was on the way in with Calum and Erin. She was safe but there was more to the reappearance of Peterson than met the eye. Ruth listened intently for a moment before realising Harry had pulled the blinds in the office. Quietly she made her way to her husband.
"Ruth." He paused as she quietly closed the door behind her.
"She's ok." Ruth stated. "Ros just told us she practically saved herself."
Harry smiled slightly, pride at his daughter's action taking some of the fear away. He nodded.
"Harry, she is used to taking care of herself. You know how much she survived in her time making documentaries. She's a sensible young woman." Ruth tilted her head slightly as he poured himself a whiskey. It was then she noticed his hands shaking slightly as he set the decanter down.
"Yes." He sighed, still not looking at her as he swallowed the amber liquid. Ruth stepped towards him, moving the glass out of the way.
"Harry."
"He was going there to kill her."
"Yes." Ruth felt sick as she agreed with him. "Mace and Smithy are dead. We know he works for whoever pays the most. Is there a link between our Catherine and the three dead men? She wasn't even in the UK last time he crossed our paths." She paused. "She was still researching documentaries." She frowned, trying to work out what was going on. Harry closed his eyes as Ruth looked up. It was then she saw how pale he was. It wasn't just Catherine who had been terrified.
"Harry."
"Yeah?" He mumbled as she thought the wall he had so carefully constructed for the rest of the world begin to creep back up. She touched his face as he swallowed hard.
"Come here." She pulled him into her arms, hugging him to her as he buried his face in her neck. Blinking back her own tears she just held him as he clung to her. "She's ok. She's ok." She whispered, her voice breaking as she felt him shaking in her arms.

Catherine rested her head back against the car seat as Calum took her hand. Erin drove at a more sedate pace back to the Grid. Her mind was reeling, thinking about what could have happened.
"He recognised me." She sighed as Erin drove. Calum squeezed her hand. "I hadn't even thought about him since I started working with you. I just. I just don't know how he found me."
"That's what I want to know." Erin stated firmly. She couldn't shake the feeling that someone had told him where Catherine was and why.
"He knew my married name. Called me Catherine Reid. Not Townsend, not Pearce." She paused.
"Townsend?"
"I used my mother's maiden name. There was already a documentary researcher called Kath Pearce when I started. I didn't want it to confuse people. Dad was not that impressed but still." She shrugged. "Peterson took Ruth?"
"Yeah." Calum paused. "Before we started at D. Ros saved the day."
"Sounds like Ros." Catherine paused. "He would have killed me."
"Don't." Calum paused. "Just." Catherine nodded as she looked out of the window, watching the London traffic thin as they headed towards Thames House.
"The kids."
"What about them?"
"He knew I was married. I had a picture on my bedside table. Charlie's last birthday." She began to panic as Calum swore. He had never even considered the man would know about Charlie and Lily. He pulled his phone out of his pocket, speed dialling his sister in law. A few moments later he ended the call.
"Terri has them. She is bringing our two, plus Gracie, Kayla and Nick to Thames House. Graham is meeting us there."
"No." Catherine paused. "Not safe. Its what that scum would expect." She took the phone, called Terri back and began arranging a safe house. Erin smirked slightly as she watched the exchange in the rear view mirror. Catherine ended the call.
"No one is messing with my kids. I'd go down for murder first." She snapped as Calum watched her in awe. "I mean it Cal. He can come at me. But my kids. Nah, not happening." She handed him the phone as Erin pulled the car into the car park below Thames House. She knew exactly how the young mum felt.

Adam stood staring at the man Beth and Dimitri had detailed through the two way mirror. He had barely been back a month when the man had initially come under investigation. He remembered seeing Ros almost catatonic as they rescued Ruth, the bullet she had fired killing Mace instantly. Now he was worried that old wounds would be ripped open.
"Adam." He turned as Ros walked into the room.
"Hi."
"Let him sweat for a bit." She nodded to the mirror. "Catherine Pearce seems to have inherited her stepmother's skill for getting out of trouble."
Adam smirked slightly. Ros, who had once underestimated Ruth was stood there praising her. He turned back to the mirror.
"I don't get it. Mace is dead. Smithy is dead. The link to Nightingale."
"Got to hand it to them. They are tenacious little shitbags." Ros stated. "Harry wants us all in the Briefing Room in thirty minutes. He's going to talk to Catherine first."
Adam nodded. He knew Harry would want to see his oldest child before doing anything else, only this time he didn't know how he was going to separate his role as her boss from his place as her dad. He didn't know if he would be able to compartmentalise to such an extent.
"Ok, how do you want to play this?"
"Let him sweat." Ros stated again. "Then I am going to politely interview him. Care to join me?"
"How could I refuse?" Adam smirked as Ros turned to leave the room. Adam looked back at Peterson once more, knowing that the thick set former civil servant had no idea what he was letting himself in for.
