Director Fury cursed under his breath, shaking his head slowly as he looked at the screen in front of him. "Not again."

Throughout the last few years, Fury had suspected no more invasions of earth—at least in his timeline. Recently, he had relocated the helicarrier to a more subtle location not far from New York City, but more secluded so prying eyes wouldn't spy on them. Below the helicarrier was a vast and empty field where no one would be able to see and spy on S.H.I.E.L.D, giving them the privacy they wanted and needed.

"What are we supposed to do?" Maria asked, looking over the monitors and studying the potential threat. Her brows were knit together with concern.

"We call them in." Fury stated, putting extra emphases on the them. It had been awhile since they had been called in for anything this big, but he knew they would handle it well like they always did.

Maria nodded, showing that she understood who he meant. She then immediately and swiftly walked out of the room. This could end up being something like the invasion from Loki, and the quicker she was, the more time they had to keep the earth safe.

"Sir, the ship is entering the atmosphere."

Fury nodded in the voice's general direction, his eyes still glued to the screen in front of him.

"Where is it estimated to land?" Fury asked.

"I believe within about thirty miles east of us, sir."

"Tell Maria this so that she knows where to send the Avengers."

The Avengers had gotten the call about half an hour prior to them standing in the middle of a field. Not to mention that it was early in the morning and not everyone was in the best of moods, specifically Clint. This morning, Clint found everything quite annoying and decided to complain loudly about it, making sure everyone knew how miserable he was and how much sleep he lacked.

Natasha was watching him as he paced around in the long grasses of the field. First he was walking in circles, then he was pacing normally. He kept this pattern up as he whined about having to wait in the middle of nowhere for who knows how long.

Natasha's ear-com beeped, distracting her from watching a disgruntled Clint. She pressed the button and listened to what Fury had to tell her.

"The ship is through the atmosphere, if you look up there, you can sort of see it. It will arrive in precisely ten to fifteen minutes." Natasha told them, relaying what Fury had told her.

Clint groaned loudly. "All I wanted to do was eat breakfast! That's all! We clearly had enough time if we can stand in this field for like two hours."

"It hasn't even been an hour yet, Clint," Steve said. "Besides, we needed to be ready and here early. This could be another alien invasion of some sorts, so staying in this field for awhile is advantageous; it gets us used to the surroundings."

Clint dismissed what Steve said with a big eye-roll and a sigh, continuing to walk in circles and whining about how hungry he was.

Within ten minutes the ship was more visible. It was massive and blocked the light of the early morning sun. It was covered in all different kinds of mechanical things, all of which were not of earth and hard to describe.

"Here comes the fun," Tony said, his usual sarcasm still intact. His mask fell over his face and he lit his repulsors up.

Steve, who was in a defensive stance, lowered his shield a bit. "They aren't firing at us. Isn't that a bit odd?"

Natasha nodded, stepping up towards Steve. "I wonder if it's even an armed ship. But, I bet it's a trap. It has to be some sort of trick to make us think they're safe."

"I agree with you, Nat. Now lets hurry and get this over with so that I can eat breakfast," Clint said, pulling out an arrow from its quiver. He pulled the bow back, aiming towards the ship.

"Stand down, Clint. What if there is a slim chance that those people on there could possibly be friendly?" Steve suggested.

"Friendly or not, I don't think we should even be out here. It's dangerous and we're down by two men. And sure, we have a Tasha, but what about a Hulk? Or even Thor?"

"Calm down. It's only one ship," Tony said.

"A giant ship," Natasha said dryly, shooting Clint an irritated look.

Everyone quieted down as the giant ship got nearer to land. Its huge engines hissed as all the little rocket things on the side turned off. Finally, it had landed and everything went silent.

"Everyone be on your guard, but don't fire just yet. There could be a chance these people are friendly," Steve said.

Another hiss echoed through the field as the door of the ship opened up. A bunch of steam and fog crept from the edges of the doors, filling the doorway and causing a dramatic and an eccentric scene for whoever was in it.

The door landed on the ground with a loud thud that vibrated through the earth and to where the Avengers stood. Fog and mist began clearing away from the entrance. In the center of the doorway was a tall figure, standing with their arms stretched out to either side of their body. As soon as the mist cleared, crowds of people rushed off the ship, causing the first figure to be lost in the multitudes of bodies that surrounded them.

"What the.." Natasha trailed off, looking at all the confused people. They were dressed in Greek-style dresses and tunic type outfits, though not exactly Greek.

The Avengers watched in confusion and silence as what seemed like thousands of people walked off and into the field. Once the ship had been cleared, the figure who was standing there before was revealed, only this time his arms weren't outstretched. They all gasped in surprise as they saw the god of mischief himself.

"Not him again!" Clint yelled as he got his bow ready.

Everyone prepared their weapons, ready for the fight that Loki would bring. Just when they were about to attack, Thor stepped out and stood next to his brother, putting his hand on Loki's shoulder. They both smiled, looking over the people who were with them. When Thor spotted the Avengers, his face lit up. He said something to Loki, pointing towards his friends and waiving at them. When Loki looked over to see what his brother was pointing to, his face became very pale.

Clint finally broke the silence between them. "Well, are we going to get him?" He asked, putting extra emphasis on the word 'him'.

"Let's speak with Thor first, then we'll see," Steve replied, putting his shield on his back and starting forward towards Thor and Loki.

"Oh brother. Mister goody two shoes always looking for the best in people," Clint muttered bitterly.

After glaring at Clint, Natasha followed closely behind Steve, looked behind her over her shoulder to see if anybody else wanted to come, but no one else followed. She didn't blame them, but somebody had to go with Steve, and that would be her.

"Hello!" Came Thor's happy call. He walked down to them, meeting them at the bottom of the ship's walkway. Loki followed close behind, making sure to stay behind his brother to partially hide behind his back. He didn't even spare a glance at who were approaching him and Thor.

"What's going on here, Thor?" Steve asked, gesturing to all the people and, especially, at Loki.

"Oh, this. I should have probably sent word to you about this. Asgard got destroyed and we needed a place to stay. I decided to come here to earth so that my people could live somewhere safely."

"And what about him?" Natasha asked, pointing to Loki who was looking anywhere but at Steve and Natasha.

"Oh, Loki? He's good now. Or at least I think so. Say hello to our friends, Loki."

Loki ignored him, watching all the Asgardians exploring around the empty field in which they stood instead of doing what his brother wanted him to do.

Thor turned towards Loki. "Brother, you know that we will be staying with them right? They will be providing you safety and shelter so that you do not freeze to death or end up homeless and starving. You will have to speak to them sometime in your life, whether that be now or later."

Loki ignored him still, looking out over the field and the people. Natasha glared at him, though he pretended not to notice her. There was no way she would let that disgusting piece of crap into their home, and she would rather die than live with him.

"Well, where are you going to put all these people?" Steve asked, knowing that Natasha would start yelling at Loki if he didn't change the subject.

"I am not quite sure about that problem yet. I thought that the mighty Avengers would know how to help," Thor replied with a laugh.

"I'm sure I could contact Fury about this," Natasha said, turning to look at the people. "If you want, we could get a team out here to build houses for these people. They wouldn't be the best houses but they would be better than nothing."

"That would be wonderful!" Thor said, putting his hand on Natasha's shoulder. "Thank you, Lady Natasha. You have no idea how much this means to me and my people. They have gone through so much, and they have lost so much. It will be good for them to finally feel safe."

Natasha smiled at Thor in response, turning away to walk towards the others with Steve.

"Thor says he's good now," Steve said, referring to Loki. "And all the people are Thor's people. I guess Asgard got destroyed somehow."

"So can we leave now?" Clint asked, patting his stomach fondly as it growled for food.

"Not exactly," Steve began.

Natasha interrupted him before he could continue. "Thor thinks that he and that slimy weasel of a brother are going to stay with us at Avengers Tower. Thor is fine living with us, but Loki? No."

"Uh, I think not," Clint said in disgust. Natasha could tell he was thinking about when he first attacked New York. "We have to find some way to get rid of him."

Before Natasha could voice that she agreed, she heard heavy footsteps behind her. She turned to see who had approached them.

"I forgot to mention something earlier because I was so happy to see you all," Thor said as he walked towards them. "You will never believe who I have found."

Natasha looked behind him to see who he was talking about. Thor stepped aside to reveal Bruce, dressed in Tony's clothes.

"Bruce! It's good to finally see you!" Natasha said, stepping forward to hug him.

Once she released him from her hug, everyone else gathered around to ask how he was and where he had been, each one either patting his shoulder or shaking his hand.

"I'll tell the whole story once we get back to the tower. I'm starving; it's been a really long, uh, however many days it's been," He said, smiling at everyone around him.

"Well, it's great to have you back Bruce," Steve said, smiling at his friend.

AN: Hi guys! I'm back with another story. It's been awhile since I've written a new story, so I thought I would write this one. The idea for this one has been sitting in my head for awhile now, and I'll try my best to bring what I envision to life.

Updates will be slow, as I am very busy in my real life and I'm updating/rewriting Avengers Academy. But I will try my best to make sure that chapters aren't too super far apart.

Also, a few things to note about this story. This is if Thanos never came to earth. He doesn't exist or something lol. Also, I'm pretty sure there are no huge empty fields remotely close to NYC, but one can imagine. And on top of that, I like Avenger's Tower, so that's where they're living in this story.

If you enjoyed this chapter, please leave a vote and comment if you want!
