Re:Chapter 1 - Date A Isekai

...what the hell is this?
Instead of waking up to laying down on my nice, soft bed, why the hell am I standing upright in the middle of a FUCKING CRATER?!
Not to mention all of the buildings in the distance. I've never been in a city large enough to have a section of the city with most of the buildings being half a dozen stories tall. Plus, there aren't any near me, the closest ones are about a hour drive, at least.
Looking down, I notice something truly strange. I'm not in my usual sleepwear, a t-shirt and light sweatpants, but am instead covered with some sort of dark red armor. It's covering every part of my body, even my head. My vision is in obscured, due to a visor. Huh, I wonder what the visor looks like from the outside, seeing as how it's just a light tint of grey on it from the inside.
I definitely wouldn't have noticed this if I hadn't looked down.
Speaking of looking down, I take a closer look at my surroundings. The buildings I spoke of aren't all upright. Some are tilted, some missing large chunks and some are mere rubble. As for where I'm standing?
The middle of a massive crater.
It's like I was at the center of an explosion which destroyed this city. I've definitely heard of this one before. Maybe this armor is a result of me turning into a conduit... not.
whirrrrrr
As I ruminate these thoughts, I hear a sound in this distance. A whirring sound, or rather lots of them. Turning towards the sound, I see about a dozen dots in the sky, slowly getting closer.
All of which are headed right for me.
As the dots grow in size, I begin to make their actual shapes out.
"Is that... a bunch of girls wearing jetpacks...?" I mutter in pure confusion.
Each of them are wearing skimpy mechanical outfits. They resemble one piece swimsuits with green-grey mechanical bits covering most of their arms and legs. Their shoulders are covered as well, which combine together to cover their collarbones and neck. The tops of their chests are exposed and a bit of their abdomens are covered merely by a layer of skin-tight material, not hiding anything, but instead darkening what's beneath, like car window tint.
On their backs are four metal 'wings', as well as four smaller ones, two on their legs and two on a headband. They also each carry a light grey cannon of sorts. Or perhaps, a rifle? Or a sword?
Regardless of the impractical armor, they all are floating via thrusters in their wings, all eight of them.
The one I presume to be their leader, a taller woman with black hair tied into a high ponytail and grey eyes, speaks to me. "Spirit. You are surrounded. Surrender now." She orders me.
Spirit...? Hang on a sec. These girls look like...
Oh are they the fucking AST?! Did I get isekai'd into Date A Live?!
Looking through the girls, I only recognize two. Their leader... Ryouko, was it? And over there, practically snarling at me, is Origami.
Mentally shrugging, I decide to mess with 'em a bit.
"Whaddya mean by 'Spirit'? I ain't dead. Last I checked I was still a living, breathing human." I say, causing their faces to be filled with confusion or perhaps shock at my words. "Though, this armor is certainly new." I say, looking down at myself and patting my chest.
Suddenly, a quiet voice speaks out with thinly veiled rage. "Enough games, Spirit."
"Wait, Origami!" Another girl shouts.
As I look up, I find the girl with short, white hair and blue eyes and rushing towards me with intent to kill.
...
INTENT TO KILL?! OH FUCK, SHE'S SWINGING A SWORD AT ME!
Running off of pure instinct, I leap back a few feet, at least, dodging Origami's sword rifle. I certainly couldn't do this before. I've never been agile, nor have I played sports much. Must be a Spirit thing.
Kicking some dust off the ground of the crater, she rushes at me again. Once more, I evade her wild sword swings, each time I get more and more confident and capable. I start dodging each swing by a wide margin with panic in my veins, but after a moment, I begin only moving slightly to dodge, and doing so calmly and confidently.
Despite the intent to kill clear on her face, I can't help but be awed by her beauty. Her skin is pale and blemish-less. Her white hair is in a short bob cut, framing her beautiful face with striking, blue eyes.
She doesn't look like Origami if she was in the real world, but rather just as she does in the anime, the first season to be precise.
The world as a whole almost seems drawn, now that I pay closer attention.
Dammit brain, stop focusing on the pretty girl and keep dodging!
Doing just that, I keep dodging, each missed swing pissing her off more and more. All I need to do now is keep evading and-
click click click click
A series of clicking sounds rings out as the other girls train their guns on me.
Oh, fuck.
Origami, noticing this, moves away from me, ceasing her reckless assault for once. Bullets begin to rain down on me, causing me to dodge on instinct again.
Despite me newfound ability and confidence with dodging a singular sword, my panicked movements and thoughts return as I barely dodge the gunfire. Fuck, these are way faster than a sword!
Suddenly, as soon as I get a moment of breathing room, I get pushed after a fist obscures my vision for but a moment. My body gets sent flying, causing me to roll on the ground a few times, before I instinctually stop in a crouch.
She might be small, but Origami's damn strong. She only comes to my neck, since she's about 5 feet tall.
My armor, however, is stronger. Despite being know d back quite far, I don't feel much of anything from her punch. I feel a slight stinging sensation on my forehead, but that's all.
Damn, I wish I had a sword right now. Maybe something like Sandalphon or-
My thoughts are interrupted by a light and emanating from my right hand. As it dies down, I find myself holding... Sandalphon?!
In my dominant hand is a large broadsword. It's hand guard is golden and it's grip is black. The blade itself is long and wide. It is silver with blue detailing on it. In the center of the hand guard is a blue jewel.
Wait wait wait, how the hell do I have this?! This is Tohka's angel!
Looking up, I find the AST girls surprised somewhat, but ready to attack.
Did I... imagine the sword...? Maybe I can...
A burst of flame engulfs my left hand as the weapon of the Soul of Cinder manifests in said hand. It's made of a dark grey, but the blade twists and becomes red-hot, glowing with a dim red color.
I've played too damn much Dark Souls, so this is only fitting.
Unfortunately, the time for experimentation isn't now, as Origami rushes me again.
CLANG
Her blade and my two blades clash with a loud sound as metal slams against metal. I use my swords to push the white haired girl back, who then catches her footing and swings at me again.
Soon, she rapidly swings her sword at me yet again. Only this time, I'm not dodging, but am blocking instead. Each swing of her sword rifle is blocked and pushed back with decent effort.
Still, she's fast! With each swing, she seems to move faster and faster, drawing from her rage more than anything. I dunno if I can keep this up!
...Now there's an idea! I can practically feel the savage grin on my face.
Sandalphon disappears as I close my fist, then throw it forward.
"POCKET SAND!" I yell as I throw a handful of sand at Origami's face. She flinches back as some sand particles get into her eyes and blocks her face with her arm as she steps back from me. So I CAN make things other than swords. Take that, EMIYA!
Taking the opportunity, I move forward and slam the bottom of my boot into the white haired girl's stomach, sending her flying as she did to me before.
"As much as I'd like to play with y'all, I'd much rather be doing... literally anything else." I say to them as I create a staff on my hand. The dark brown staff has bits at the bottom, making it resemble a key. At the top is a pink ring with a yellow star in the center.
This is Mukuro's angel, Michael.
"FIRE!" The commander, Ryouko, yells. The girls begin shooting at me, but it's too late, I've already used Michael and created a portal and stepped into it, escaping.
Where does it lead? Who knows!
As I step out, I find myself in a dark alleyway. It's still day time, but the tall buildings cast large shadows. Well, I suppose I DID make the portal lead to anywhere.l but where I was.
Shit... what do I do now?
I'm in the middle of, presumably, Tengu City, a fictional Japanese city and home of the story of Date A Live. I'm in said city at an unknown time, at either the start of or before canon, seeing as how Origami's still part of the AST.
Additionally, I've been turned into a Spirit and have an unknown angel that lets me make stuff with my imagination, including other angels.
But on top of all of that, I realize something very important.
I DON'T FUCKING SPEAK JAPANESE!
Then again, the AST girls were speaking normal old English. Maybe I naturally have some sort of auto-translate.
All of these things are good to know, but I what am I gonna do now...?
My thought process is interrupted by a silky smooth feminine voice that sends shivers down my spine. And what she says makes me know EXACTLY who she is immediately.
"Ara ara~"
Oh, good lord.
That, my friends, is the voice of my waifu!
Oh yeah, that definitely confirms it.
I am definitely in Date A Live!
AN
So... I've been busy. Busy writing my Blue Archive story. A bit too busy if you ask me.
I decided to go back and write a new Date A Live chapter, but noticed something...
The story I wrote is... basic. Makes sense, seeing as how this was the first fanfic I've ever written.
And so, I found myself wanting to make it better without getting rid of the old chapters. Y'know, for the memories. And I also didn't want to write this as a whole new story, losing those who were reading this in the first place.
So, I re-wrote this chapter without overwriting the original.
That means that this is the start of some (hopefully) longer versions of the older chapters.
I repeat: The original chapters WILL NOT BE DELETED!
I hope you enjoyed the beginning of these re-writes and look forward to the next!
