A New Day: Chapter 3
Watching the children play with her open journal in her lap, Kagome sighed to herself. She wished Inuyasha hadn't interrupted her moment with Sesshomaru earlier. It felt like everything was clicking into place, and when Inuyasha came running and screaming it was a rude awakening. The mid-morning sun was warming her cheeks, masking the reaction her wayward thoughts reflected on her face. Next to her, Sesshomaru noticed her fidgeting and could only think of one way to solve it. Slowly moving to write on the side of the empty page of Kagome's journal.
'meet me at the hotsprings, now'
He stood, looking to Jaken, "watch the children, ensure their safety or this one will ensure your demise."
"Yes Lord Sesshomaru." Jaken quavered, scurrying to a spot where he could better watch the children play.
Sesshomaru then walked out of the camp, in the vague direction of the hot springs.
Kagome stared down at her journal, blushing furiously. She wanted so much more than a kiss from him, and she was sure she would not be able to hold herself back if they were left alone long enough. But he was inviting her to be alone with him again, and after he'd confessed his feelings that morning- she could feel the heat from his written word.
Taking a deep breath, she stood.
"hey, Sango? I'm gonna go for a walk, and journal a bit. I want to meditate."
Sango looked at her friend before smiling, "of course Kagome. I'll keep an eye on things here."
"Take your bow, wench," Inuyasha reminded, "don't let your guard down enough so you get captured."
Kagome rolled her eyes, "I'm practicing my barriers, Inuyasha. I'll be fine." Still, she lifted her bow and arrows onto her shoulder, holding her journal in the other hand. She started towards the edge of camp before calling to Shippo, "I'll be back soon! I'll probably take a bath after so listen to Sango, okay?"
"Okay Mama!" Shippo called back before giggling at Rin's cartwheel, "No Rin! Like this!" the kit flipped and tried modeling it for the girl.
Kagome smiled and set off for the hot springs. Sesshomaru was sitting under a tree, writing. He looked up when he felt her at the edge of the clearing.
"You asked me to meet you?" She asked, a little nervous. She'd erected a barrier around the general area, so the camp wouldn't be able to hear or smell anything. The last thing she wanted was Inuyasha and Kouga barging in as she felt herself getting warmer at the thought of kissing Sesshomaru again.
Standing, he locked eyes with her, noticing the spike in her scent as he did. He liked this look on her face; shy, flushed, very much…..aroused.
"I did, and I thank you for coming." His voice was soft, sending heat running through her body.
Kagome's breath hitched and she laughed, "I don't think I have yet." She said softly.
He raised an eyebrow at her, a smirk forming on his face as she blushed darker and stuttered, "that wasn't meant to be out loud."
He offered his hand to her and she took it, moving closer to him. She could smell him now, and she breathed in the no doubt extra-rare dai cologne that smelled uniquely him. Sesshomaru wrapped his arms around Kagome's waist and lifted her close to his face.
"this one will be sure to thank you again, after you've come…mate" his voice was a husk of a whisper, the last word trailing off as a question. He was asking her, right now, to be his mate.
Kagome looked into Sesshomaru's eyes; he was absolutely serious. There was heat in his eyes, but this question wasn't coming from a place of lust. It was love shining through. Kagome's thoughts raced before she decided to answer his question with an action, she leaned forward and kissed him.
Sesshomaru, initially surprised, kissed back with urgency as he turned them around to press Kagome up against the tree. Her arms looped around his neck as his hands caressed the curves of her body. At some point in the morning she'd changed from her pajamas to a pair of shorts and a tank top, with an open button-down flannel on top. The late summer day was still warm enough to have her legs so exposed.
Their kissing started to intensify as Kagome started tugging at the arms of Sesshomaru's haori, breaking their kiss. He gave her a surprised look as she started undressing, before getting into the hotspring clad only in her cloth bra and panties. Lowering herself into the water, she smiled at Sesshomaru, the question in her eyes.
Sesshomaru got undressed, completely, smirking as Kagome's mouth dropped at the sight of his entire body. He stepped into the hotsprings and took her back into his arms, kissing down her body before pulling down the strap of her bra down her arm.
"I want you to take me, Sesshomaru…" her voice was quiet, "I want to be your mate."
He kissed the slick skin of her stomach, "as you wish. Your desire grants mine."
He slid her wet panties down her legs and tossed them out of the water onto their other clothes as Kagome did the same with her bra. Lifting her to sit on the edge of the spring, he stood to his full height and aligned his hard length with her slick opening.
"Say it again." Sesshomaru's voice was gruff with need. His eyes tinged with red as his beast shared control as he settled his hands onto her hips.
"Take me, Sesshomaru." Kagome breathed, his lips crashing against hers as he pushed himself into her. She moaned into the kiss and reveled in the feeling of him as he started pulling in and out.
They kissed as their bodies connected over and over. Sesshomaru broke their kiss to move down her neck, licking where he intended to mark her. As they reached their peak, Sesshomaru moved a hand from her hips to her clit, finding it with ease and rubbing the bundle of nerves- sending Kagome to the stars. As she reeled into her orgasm, Sesshomaru bit down and marked his new mate. They groaned and grunted against each other as Sesshomaru tasted his mate's blood and spilled his seed into her.
As his pace slowed, the two kissed- coming down from their mutual orgasms. Sesshomaru moved back slightly to look at her, and she used the space to lower herself back into the warm water to sit on the underwater ledge.
Sesshomaru sat next to her, studying her face. When she looked up at him and smiled, he took her chin into her hands before saying, "thank you for coming, Kagome."
She laughed, and he closed the gap between their lips once more before they broke apart and relaxed together in the warm hot spring, enjoying each other as new mates.
It was almost an hour an hour of the two of them talking and enjoying each other's company before they reached the conversation of going back to the group.
"I'm just going to tell them. I don't want any secrets. Plus, I'm far too happy for them to not think something happened." Kagome explained, lifting herself out of the hot spring to dry off and get dressed.
"As you wish, mate. Rin will be thrilled." Sesshomaru agreed, following.
"and," she started, pulling her tank top over her head. Her bra and panties had long since dried and she opted to just put the bra back on, stuffing the panties into the pockets of her shorts.
"What is it?" Sesshomaru asked, tying his haori into place.
"I want you to meet my family." Kagome finished, "over in my time."
"Is Inuyasha not the only one who cross over?" he asked
"I think it's more of a…connection thing. And the mating bond is stronger than the beads of subjection, so you should be able to cross over." Kagome thought out loud, "would you want to meet them?"
"I would be honored to meet your family."
Kagome glowed with excitement, "good! My graduation is in a few days so you can come to that if you'd like?"
The two started walking back towards their camp, hand in hand.
"Graduation?" Sesshomaru asked.
"A ceremony to celebrate the end of one's schooling. My formal education is coming to an end."
"This one would be elated to celebrate your education, mate." He brought her hand to his lips and kissed it.
Kagome blushed and the two fell into a comfortable silence as they walked the rest of the way to camp. It was mid-afternoon now, and their group was preparing for lunch. Inuyasha and Miroku were at the pond, fishing. Sango was making rice, and Kikyo was making tea. Rin and Shippo were under a tree, coloring in their coloring books gifted by Kagome.
When the two entered camp, Sango was the first to notice their position. Watching as Kagome released Sesshomaru's hand and walked toward her.
"Hey Kags, how was your meditation?" she asked, stirring the pot of rice.
"Oh, I got a little distracted because I ran into Sesshomaru…" Kagome started.
"yeah?" Sango pressed, "how'd that go?"
"it went great actually, we….mated."
Sango looked at Kagome, surprised, "that's…sudden."
"Good sudden." Kagome confirmed, "I figured since we're going back to Kaede's village tomorrow, I can take him home to meet my family."
Sango reached over and hugged her friend, "I'm so excited for you Kagome! I've seen how he looks at you, you're going to have a wonderful life with him."
Kagome blushed, taking bowls out to portion out the rice, nodding to Miroku as he handed over 10 freshly caught and gutted mid-sized largemouth bass. Skewering them, Kagome lined each one around the fire, turning occasionally so they cooked evenly.
Sesshomaru was sitting next to Rin, watching her color one of the flowers on her page a bright pink. He'd explained very softly that Kagome would be his mate, and her new mother. Shippo, overhearing, smiled wide and listened intently as Sesshomaru explained that her new brother would be Shippo, and any kin he had with Kagome would be her siblings too.
"I know you heard that, Shippo. You are a beloved son to Kagome, and that is important. You will be welcomed as a son."
Shippo smiled before nodding, returning to his coloring until they were called over for dinner. Kagome brought over the rice bowls, with the roasted fish on top, first for the children. She then passed bowls to Kouga, Ginta, Hakkaku, and Jaken, before getting bowls for herself and Sesshomaru. Sango served Miroku, Inuyasha, and Kikyo. As the group settled around the embers of the fire and began their lunch, Inuyasha noticed how close Kagome and Sesshomaru were sitting.
"Kagome, you're basically in his lap? What's the deal?" He asked, taking a bite of fish
"This morning, Sesshomaru and I decided that we'd mate. You remember how you were with Kikyo at the beginning of your mating, don't you?" her voice was casual, showing comfort in her decision.
Inuyasha coughed, trying not to choke on his food at her words. She mated his brother. Of all people! He'd noticed them getting closer over the years, but he chalked that up to Kagome's eternal friendliness.
"Damned wench…" he muttered, breaking the silence. Kouga was sitting mid-bite, his fish stopped halfway between the rice bowl and his mouth. Ginta and Hakkaku snickered into their own bowls.
"Well, congratulations are in order!" Miroku lifted his tea in toast, "to the newly mated!"
Sango, Kikyo, Ginta, Hakkaku, and the children all raised their cups of tea, waiting for the rest of the group. Inuyasha was still grumpily eating, trying to dissect his feelings. Kouga was frozen, in complete disbelief.
Sesshomaru lifted his tea, Kagome following suit, before Miroku announced, "Bonsai!" before taking a sip.
Kagome smiled, she figured her friends would be supportive, after spending many evenings teasing her about the crush that had been building for the last few years. Looking at Inuyasha's face, she sighed, it would just take a little bit of time for him to get over the initial shock.
'Hopefully Kikyo will talk some sense into him,' Kagome thought, returning to her lunch. She didn't want to look in Kouga's direction. He'd gone from his frozen silence to a barely audible mumbling, that was steadily getting louder. It was only a matter of time before he was speaking, and then…..yelling.
