My new story…its Sessh/Kag if you don't like the pairing, don't read the story.

This is a rewrite in order to fit the story as it's been progressing! I started this story so long ago it was time to update the writing, and a recent review I got reminded me of this goal! Thanks OnceUponABlueMoonDream ! Note: we're shifting from the songs, so expect big changes to explain things better.

Bold means a change in location and/ or time or time period. Italics are thoughts or Sesshomaru's inner demon talking, or flashbacks.

Note for this chapter- the bridal/cake shop scene and the tuxedo/flower shop scene are happening at the same time.

Chapter 6: Errands

"Hey man," Inuyasha said after a few minutes of silence in the car, "I saw you gave Kagome your mom's ring."

Sesshomaru nodded, "It aligned with her desires."

"Kagome's or your mom's?" Inuyasha questioned, looking out the window.

"Both," Sesshomaru glanced at Hojo, who was gripping the steering wheel hard, "the priority for this one is to fulfill Kagome's every desire."

Inuyasha smirked, if it were possible, steam would be coming out of Hojo's ears with rage. The ride to the tuxedo shop was filled with quips like this from both Sesshomaru and Inuyasha. Souta and Jii-chan barely noticed, with the former playing a game on his phone and the latter skimming the newspaper.

"Oh, Sakura gave me this for you," Inuyasha passed a folded piece of paper up to Sesshomaru.

Opening it, he examined the careful handwriting of Kagome's mother.

Sesshomaru,

Kagome's asked for some custom formal wear to be made for Shippo. I've already sent over his sizes to the tailor, so they will only need your approval on the exact shades of your House colors. She has also asked the tailor to make you some things, so you may be trying on more than tuxedos today.

Don't be too hard on Hojo,

Mama Sakura

He smirked at the little winking face next to her warning, she was well aware of the boy's affections for her daughter.

"More chores?" Inuyasha asked, thinking about the warning Sakura gave him before he left. He was not to provoke Hojo the way he was used to. So he settled for tag teaming with Sesshomaru, to make Hojo break in small ways.

Sesshomaru shook his head, "She's written to tell me that my sweet Kagome has left gifts for Shippo at the shop we're going to."

"We're nearly there," Hojo's voice entered the conversation, "Who's Shippo?"

"My son." Sesshomaru said, folding the note and leaning forward to put it in his pocket.

"Oh yea, Sakura was saying something about that." Inuyasha confirmed, "Kagome's thoughtful like that."

"You didn't bring your kid with you to come to your wedding?" Hojo's voice was surprised as he pulled the car into a parking spot near the entrance to the shop.

"This wedding is one of two," Sesshomaru explained, "with the responsibilities of the Shrine, and Jii-sama's health, this one wanted two ceremonies so Kagome may have her family and her dream wedding."

Jii-chan smiled at the honorific, "my health is JUST fine."

"Of course old man, but ya know it's a long way back to our place." Inuyasha laughed

Souta laughed at the hint. Jii-chan could never get back to the Feudal Era, no matter how hard he tried. 500 years was simply too far.

"Your kid doesn't have a passport? Not even for special occasions?," Hojo asked, missing the confused look Inuyasha and Sesshomaru shared.

"Kagome said the trip was too short. And they'd get their sleeping schedule all messed up right before they have to go back to school." Souta lied for Sesshomaru, giving an explanation Hojo would believe.

Hojo nodded, unbuckling his seatbelt.

Filing out of the car and into the tuxedo shop, they were greeted by a tall thin man. He reminded Sesshomaru of a tree demon, and when they got closer, the scent confirmed it.

So there are other demons here, Sesshomaru thought, they mute their scents so Inuyasha's nose may not always pick it up.

The man bowed quickly, his brown hair shaking as he moved.

"Welcome, Lord Sesshomaru. My name is Ryoga, I'll be serving you today. We've already got a few pieces for you to approve, if you could, Lord Sesshomaru. Right this way, can we get your party anything to drink?"

Hojo walked at the back of the group, observing how Ryoga tripped over himself to make sure Sesshomaru knew he was there to help. Sesshomaru, Inuyasha, Jii-chan, and Souta were ushered into dressing rooms where grey, black, and navy suits awaited them. It took a little over an hour for them to decide on charcoal grey suits with navy blue ties. Sesshomaru was impressed to see the exact shade of blue for the Western House in the selection of ties he was given.

Ryoga gathered their exact measurements and sent the samples off to the tailor on the second floor of the shop. As they returned to their street clothes, Ryoga pulled Sesshomaru aside and handed him three large parcels.

"This is for the young Lord Shippo," He said quietly of the first. Stacking the other two he finished, "and these two are for you, Lord Sesshomaru. I have chosen the highest quality fabrics."

"You've done well, Ryoga. This one thanks you."

"It's an honor, Lord Sesshomaru," Ryoga bowed again, "I've heard tales of your greatness, to see you connected to a human family dear to this community is a true joy."

Sesshomaru nodded, "The Shikon Shrine truly is sacred."

"More than that, Mama Higurashi and her family are quite respected and cared for. When Kagome was ill for so long, the humans worried so. But us, we knew the legends, and knew we were approaching the time we've only heard stories from."

Sesshomaru nodded again, sending Ryoga away as Hojo approached them.

"We're ready to go, Sesshomaru." Hojo's voice was gruff as he brushed by him.

"Sesshomaru-sama," he corrected, breezing by Hojo and getting back in the car. Inuyasha snickered, getting into the backseat with Souta and Jii-chan. Their next stop was the flower shop.

"How is your wife, Inuyasha?" Jii-chan asked, "we haven't met her but we've heard quite a bit."

Inuyasha laughed, "I'm sure you have! She's good, gramps. You know how women get, wench has secrets."

"Calling her 'wench' probably doesn't help." Hojo grumbled under his breath. His knuckles were almost white with the grip he had on the steering wheel.

"So, Sesshomaru, how much older are you than Inuyasha?" Souta asked,

"I was a young adolescent when Inuyasha was born." He shot Inuyasha a look, "I was almost 14."

Souta nodded, understanding that Sesshomaru was trying to equate himself to a human age. He knew Inuyasha was Kagome's age, a human 19, but didn't realize how much older Sesshomaru was. He must be an incredibly powerful demon.

Hojo was shocked, "You're 33?!"

Sesshomaru shrugged, "Nearly."

"So you were married before? To your son's mom?" Hojo was trying to find anything to like about Sesshomaru. If Kagome was dating a single dad that she'd known for a while, fine. But if she was about to marry a womanizing playboy who probably only wanted a young woman to control, Hojo wouldn't stand for it.

Inuyasha laughed, "Absolutely not!"

Sesshomaru could predict Hojo's train of thought pretty well, it was predictable. He only wondered what his reaction would be if he found out that Shippo was Kagome's son before his, and they had Rin too. And soon, if Sesshomaru had anything to do with it, a new pup on the way. He smirked as he saw the approaching flower shop, what better time to bring up Rin than at a place she'd love. Anywhere with flowers.

Hojo shook his head, trying to clear his mind as they pulled into the flower shop parking lot. This was only getting worse. When they got inside, Sesshomaru could smell no demons. This was a fully human establishment.

"Oh Jii-chan! Hi! You're here to pick out wedding flowers for little Kagome, right? Oh how the time flies!" A plump man waddled out to them happily.

"Hello Daiki-sama," Souta greeted

"Souta! My boy! Come here, I've saved this bouquet for you to give to your Hitomi. And you," the man turned his attention to Sesshomaru, "must be the lucky fella Sakura told me about over the phone!" He stuck out his hand, "nice to meet ya!"

Sesshomaru shook his hand, "Pleasure to meet you. I am Sesshomaru."

"Oh, Sesshomaru! What a classy name! Old world, you know? And I remember you! Welcome back m'boy!" Daiki patted Inuyasha on the back before nodding at Hojo in greeting.

"Follow me, follow me! I know sweet little Kagome loves Gardenias, so I've chosen…" Daiki's voice got quieter and quieter as he walked into another room, expecting the group to follow. They did, half listening to his speech on gardenia types.

Sesshomaru spoke up when he saw a shelf of flower crowns, "can those be preserved?"

Daiki followed Sesshomaru's gaze, "The flower crowns? Oh yes! We put them in a sealed coolbox that you open when you're ready to use it. Do you think your fiance would like one?"

Sesshomaru shook his head, "If only to match my daughter. That's who I was first thinking of."

Daiki nodded as Hojo's eyes widened once again. He had a son and a daughter? His suspicions were confirmed. Sesshomaru was not good for his Kagome. She needed a helpful, sensible man like him, not some rich playboy who probably paid for all of her medical expenses to try and get into her pants. That was the reason, in Hojo's mind. Kagome wouldn't be with someone like this unless she felt indebted.

Hojo nodded, letting the reason calm him as he paid attention to the last of Sesshomaru's sentences.

"...these Roses will make up the archway. The tables will be adorned with moonflowers. The white gardenias will be in both events. Greenery must be tipped in gold leaves."

Daiki nodded as he furiously scribbled notes, "You have a brilliant eye, Sesshomaru. This will be gorgeous. Now, for the suits?"

"These," Sesshomaru picked up a blue gardenia. It was a soft kiss of blue, making the mostly white flower have a silvery undertone, "The bouquets will be these as well, with the ivory."

"Very good, very good." Daiki hurried off, taking a pink, orange, and purple flower crown from the shelf as he went to the back room to start the order. Another man, a little taller but just as kind eyed, shuffled out to greet them.

"My grandson told me you were here, Souta." The old man smiled at Jii-chan.

"Genma, my friend, it is good to see you. We're on for our poker tournament, yes?"

"Of course, my friend. I could not win without you." Genma smiled up at Sesshomaru, "My grandson will deliver your order on the morning of the wedding ceremony, Sesshomaru."

He nodded, "thank you, sir."

Genma shook his head before holding the door open for them, "Anything for the Higurashi's, I was absolutely thrilled to hear that little Kagome was getting married. Such a sweet girl."

"She is, indeed, the best of women." Sesshomaru agreed.

Hojo sighed as he slid back into the driver's seat. He'd decided to daydream that he was running these errands for his wedding to Kagome, not Sesshomaru's. That didn't last, as soon as Inuyasha and Sesshomaru got back in the car, they were talking about Kagome again. Jii-chan must've asked about the food at the wedding, since he and Souta were listening intently to Sesshomaru's explanation.

"Kagome wanted to make sure that everyone could eat so she asked three restaurants to cater the wedding. There will be many options."

"And the strongest liquor!" Inuyasha laughed, closing the car door after Souta got in.

Hojo sighed with relief, at least he had that at the wedding. The drive back to the shrine was mostly quiet, until Hojo broke the silence.

"So Inuyasha," he started, swallowing the distaste at saying his former rival's name, "did Kagome tell you about the party?"

"Yea," Inuyasha gruffed, "And imma go too, just to keep an eye on her, Hobo."

Hojo laughed nervously, "I would've invited you to the last one if I knew you were in town…"

"Well, I came back early to get the wench. Had a feeling she was up to something and Souta tells me that she went to your party." Inuyasha grumbled, knowing Sesshomaru probably didn't know this story.

Sesshomaru held in his discontented growl, "and then?" he prompted Inuyasha to continue.

"She was drunk outta her mind babbling about someone.." Inuyasha started

"Oh look here we are!" Hojo interrupted, pulling into the main house's driveway, "We beat Kagome and Ms. Sakura back."

Right as Hojo finished that thought, Sakura's car came rolling up the driveway. Kagome waved when she saw them filing out of the car.

Kagome buckled her seatbelt as her mother drove off to the bridal shop.

"Hitomi, are you excited?" Kagome asked, "I think since Souta's the ring bearer, you should be the flower girl."

"It's very exciting Kagome!" Hitomi giggled, "I love weddings! I've always wanted to be in one."

Sakura smiled, "I'm excited too. It's such a joy to see you getting married, Kaggie."

"Thanks Mama," Kagome smiled, "I really didn't think it was gonna happen, considering where my life is heading."

"I always knew if you were going to stay over there, it would be for love." Sakura confirmed, pulling the car into the bridal shop parking lot.

"Oh Mama," Kagome sighed, "you're such a romantic."

When they got out of the car, they spotted Kagome's school friends in the waiting area of the bridal shop. As Kagome walked in, a small woman in a black suit dress came from a back room with 5 glasses of champagne and a glass of lemonade. After passing out the glasses, the ladies were ushered into the showroom to start looking for Kagome's wedding dress.

Kagome chose several dresses that were elegant and soft, with the thought in the back of her mind that she may want to bring it back with her to the Feudal Era. Sakura pulled dresses that would make Kagome look like a princess, with big skirts or long trains. Finally, after narrowing the try on pile to 5 dresses, it was time to try on.

The first dress felt so heavy, Kagome didn't even want to walk in it. She felt dragged down by all the heavy fabric. The second dress slid on easily, and she examined herself in the mirror before walking out to show the group.

"Mama, I really like this one," Kagome said as she stepped up onto the platform. The dress was an off shoulder silk and tulle ivory gown, with flowering lace detailing from the corset top down to through the mermaid shape and to the floor. It had a small train, satisfying her mother's desires. It was simple, with a subtle sparkle and it felt like a wedding dress she'd wear. A sparkling veil was secured onto her head, with the longest point ending at the small of her back. The front of the veil was draped over her eyes and settled mid-chest.

When she turned around she saw tears in her mother's eyes.

"Oh Kagome it's perfect!" Eri squealed

"You look amazing!" Ayumi agreed, taking a sip of her champagne, "this is it."

Sakura nodded, "This is the dress."

The silent dress shop owner quickly ushered Kagome back into her dressing room to take her measurements and send the dress sample to their tailor next door. Next up were the bridesmaids dresses. Kagome picked out the same shade of blue as Sesshomaru, recognizing the color immediately. Eri, Ayumi, Yuka, and Hitomi were all dressed in a sparkly halter neck satin dress that flattered each of their bodies. Sakura picked out a black a-line dress that ended at her knees, adorned with silver embroidered flowers along the hem and up the skirt. It was then that Kagome was presented with the dresses she had made for Rin, a silver dress she knew both Rin and Sesshomaru would love, a red cap sleeved tulle dress that would bounce as she walked, and a navy blue dress with the moon phases embroidered in silver on the hem.

"What's your name?" Kagome stopped the woman before she scared away.

"Apologies, Lady Kagome. I am Kasumi."

Kagome raised an eyebrow at the title, "You can call me just Kagome. I don't think I'm a Lady here."

"Of course you are!" Kasumi whispered frantically, "You mustn't say such things my lady. The physical Western Lands may be different now, but it is still the West."

Kagome put a comforting hand on Kasumi's shoulder, "I know my mate will be pleased to hear there's loyalty in this time for him. But please, call me Kagome."

Kasumi sighed, "Alright Kagome." she looked hopeful, "you'll really tell Lord Sesshomaru that I'm loyal?"

Kagome smiled, "of course. You all have hidden yourselves so well in this time I didn't even notice that there were demons living here."

Kasumi bowed, "I'm only half. My father was a demon and his last wife was human. My mother."

"Still," Kagome finished, "I do appreciate your help."

"Of course, La- Kagome." Kasumi bowed away to the tailor, leaving the group to say goodbye and head off to the next wedding errand.

"Okay girls!" Sakura said happily, "Cake tasting time!"

"This is gonna be the best part." Kagome laughed as they drove toward the bakery.

The head baker was waiting for them, bringing samples out as soon as they arrived. They tried so any flavors, but Kagome landed on a subtle rosewater cake with cherry blossom infused frosting, topped with candied cherry blossoms. It looked beautiful and Kagome made sure to take pictures to show Sesshomaru so he could see it before the day. Choosing a crescent moon as a topper, Kagome felt satisfied with her final decision. The cake was loved by everyone, and it was finally time to head home.

Yuka, Eri, and Ayumi said their goodbyes, promising to see Kagome at the party that night. Sakura confirmed the delivery time with the bakery and joined Hitomi and Kagome in the car to drive home.

As they pulled into the driveway, Kagome grinned and waved at the sight of Sesshomaru. She'd missed him. He waved back, smiling softly at her, making her heart flutter.

As soon as her mother parked, Kagome was out of the car and walking toward Sesshomaru.

"Hi Kagome!" Hojo greeted, immediately trying to get in front of her.

She sidestepped him quickly, "Hi Hojo, thanks for driving everyone." she sped up and almost tripped over her feet getting to Sesshomaru.

Before she could fall he caught her in his arms and lifted her into a kiss before setting her on her feet, "Hello, little miko."

Kagome blushed, "Hi."

"This one has missed you," Sesshomaru's voice was sweet, quiet as he lifted her left hand to her lips. It was then that Hojo got a good look at the Engagement ring he was searching for. When he saw it, his heart dropped. He knew Kagome would like a sentimental piece for a proposal; that aligned with her big heart, but the ring was unlike anything he'd ever seen. It was gorgeous, and it reminded him of Kagome. Like it was made for her. He couldn't top that ring, even if he had all the money in the world.

"I missed you too," Kagome smiled, "Did you boys have fun?"

"It was productive," Sesshomaru released her hand and turned back to the car, pulling out the parcels he was given.

"Are those for you and Shippo?" Kagome asked, grinning when he nodded, "Oh good! I have Rin's stuff. We'll look together when we get upstairs, okay?"

Inuyasha followed the family back into the house, leaving Sesshomaru and Kagome to continue their conversation. Hojo was in the kitchen, busying himself making tea for Jii-chan. Sakura was opening the hall closet, pulling out some bags that Kagome would inevitably fill with the children's new clothes. Under his hat, Inuyasha's ears twitched.

That was weird, He thought, I thought I smelled…Miroku? But it went away so fast…

Kagome and Sesshomaru walked hand in hand up the stairs, Sesshomaru holding both of their purchases for the day in his free hand. Once they got into the bedroom, Kagome closed the door behind them as Sesshomaru carefully started unpacking the parcels. In the ones for him, he found a set of silk pajamas, dress shirts, and suit jackets in many neutral colors and shades of blue. On the very top, there was a small velvet box. Inside he found two silver cufflinks, carved into the symbol of the Western House.

He looked up, searching the room for his mate, finding her torso deep in her closet, pulling out a duffle bag.

"We bought so much new stuff, and I know we won't be taking it all back, but we'll definitely need more than my yellow backpack." She explained, unfolding it before meeting his gaze, "what?"

"This is a beautiful gift, mate." Sesshomaru's voice was soft, "you know what I could want among things I never thought I would know."

"Awe," Kagome cooed, dropping to her knees next to him before kissing his cheek, "you're so sweet. I love you, Sesshomaru."

"And I you, little mate," he captured her lips in a kiss.

When they broke apart, Kagome moved to open Rin's package, showing Sesshomaru each of the dresses she picked out.

"She will love those, of that I'm sure."

"And Shippo!" Kagome said excitedly, "look how cute these little suits are! Shippo is going to look adorable in these."

"They are very well made," Sesshomaru affirmed, "detailed."

"I'm glad you like the designs, Mama and I tried to make sure they were good."

"You did an exceptional job. This one has immense trust in your taste." Sesshomaru kissed her again, moving to wrap his arms around her and deepen the kiss. He was pulling her into his lap, thankful for her short skirt, when there was a knock at the bedroom door.

"Mm," Kagome groaned, breaking away, "What?"

"Uh, sis? There's some people here to see you…" Souta's voice was confused.

Kagome sighed and untangled herself from her mate. Carefully getting up, she adjusted her clothes and tiptoed over the boxes on the floor. As she opened the door, a ball of fluff burst into her arms.

"Shippo?!" Kagome was shocked, "What are you…I mean how did you…"

"We're all here Mama Kagome!" Rin giggled, running up the stairs.

Kagome shifted Shippo into one arm as she dropped to her knees to hug Rin. Sesshomaru appeared in the doorway at the sound of her voice, shocked to see his mate hugging their children.

"How did you get here, Rin?" Sesshomaru couldn't keep the shock from his voice.

"The jewel appeared to Monk Miroku!"

"What?" Kagome released the kids and stood. There, at the bottom of the stairs were the rest of her friends. Sango and Miroku were studying the photographs on the wall in the entryway, Kikyo was whispering to Jii-chan about the shrine, and Inuyasha was leaning in the frame of the front door, looking pleased.

"Oh my goodness, Kagome! I never thought your time would look so different!" Sango rushed up the stairs to hug her best friend.

Kagome hugged her back, "I can't believe you're here!"

"It was amazing! We were all just spending some time in Kaede's backyard when a light appeared. It was Midoriko-san! She handed us each a jewel shard," Sango lifted the chain around her next to show the jewel fragment securely encased in a glass pendant, "and told us that it was time for us to meet our family on the other side."

"Wow," Kagome was shocked, "I'm just so happy you're here!"

"I hope we have not disrupted your plans, Kagome." Miroku commented, noticing Sesshomaru's lack of shirt.

"Hmm? Oh, no," Kagome laughed, "we're going to a party tonight. You are definitely coming, we have clothes you can borrow."

"Good idea sweetie," Sakura walked back into the entryway from the kitchen "I've called both shops and added extra tuxedos and dresses to the order, I will make any other alterations on the day of."

"Thanks Mama," Kagome smiled, "We've kinda taken over your house, huh?"

Sakura laughed, "a little. But that's the good thing about the Shrine. The guest house hasn't been used in quite some time. Your Grandpa, and I will be staying in there to let you all stay in the main house together." She turned to Inuyasha, "You and Kikyo will be in Grandpa's room. Miroku and Sango will be in the guest room, and the children will be in my room. Souta will be around, so if you need anything and can't find me, ask him."

The InuTachi nodded, murmuring their thanks as Kagome ushered Kikyo and Sango into her room, leaving Sesshomaru and Inuyasha to get Miroku changed. Her mom took Rin and Shippo into her room to change into some clothes Kagome and Souta wore when they were those sizes.

Once in her room Kagome went straight to the closet, stacking the boxes from that day in the corner she'd put the duffle bag in.

"So who is throwing this party?" Sango asked, "is this a friend from school?"

Kagome nodded, picking through her clothes, "My friend Ayumi. But Eri, Yuka, and Hojo will be there too. Plus, probably a lot of people that I used to go to school with."

"Has Sesshomaru met Hojo?" Kikyo asked

"Does he know about that time?" Sango asked, "that other party?"

Kagome shook her head, "And I'm not planning on telling him while we're here. Hojo feels bad enough and Sesshomaru would probably try to kill him, I told you how Inuyasha reacted."

Sango nodded, "but you should tell him, Kagome."

Kagome sighed, "I know, And I will."
