What if the Digital world faced not a single mastermind, but an entire army that threatened the balance of the Digital Worlds way of life? And what happens when even Jennai, the head scientist of the observers for the Digital world can't save the eggs of the chosen from Piedmon's invasion? Chapter 15: Lord of the Volcano Part 3

Lava Ridge: Volcano Battle Pit

Greymon and Deltamon stood staring each other down and sizing their opponent up. If it wasn't for the constant rumbling of the volcano in the background you could have heard a pin drop in the tense atmosphere of the camp. Seth stood by with his cards on hand should Greymon need them. The Digimon of the camp were both hopeful and scared, hopeful to be freed from Deltamon's tyranny, and scared that he will be harder on them for another challenger fighting his rule after only a day since he became the lord of the Lava Ridge Zone.

Both Digimon begin to growl low in a challenging manner, before going into all out roars as both combatants charge at each other with a fire in their eyes and in their hearts. They collide with a huge gust of wind pushing back all spectators onto their backs or flinging them back a good 15ft in general.

Seth barely holds steady at the titanic clash of two large Champions ready to destroy each other. One ready to destroy yet another annoyance to his rule, and the other ready to free those who are in need of better lives.

Greymon manages to hold his collision by gripping onto the wrists (necks) of each of Deltamon's hands (Mouths) as he does his best to draw upon every muscle in his body to hold the beast there to buy time for Saberdramon to do her job.

Seth thinks hard analyzing the situation, While Greymon can match him for now that's mostly because he is being underestimated by Deltamon. Once he is seen as a proper threat Deltamon will go all out, then Saberdramon will be on a time crunch for her job.

Hearing a loud growl Seth readies his cards as he sees Delatmon has wrenched his arms free of Greymon and smacked him into the wall of the battle pit ready to go another round with the orange Dino.

Greymon grunts after the hit but stands tall and strong, Ugh that actually hurt, but I can at least hold long enough for Saberdramon to do her job so we can make sure this guy has no reinforcements on hand after we beat him. It's taking all my strength and then some to match him, let alone beat him. You can do this Saberdramon we believe in you.

Greymon's thoughts are interrupted by the roar of Deltamon as he begins his next charge, Greymon tenses his body to meet it and hold his ground as long as possible.

Volcano Sky Patrol

(Cue Aurelleah - Daybreaker [Epic Orchestral])

Angemon and the corrupted Airdramon both rush through the sky as Angemon launches out small bursts of his hand of fate beam attack at the elusive dragon.

Airdramon in turn is constantly trying to wipe out the swift angel as he blasts fireballs in retaliation to the golden energy beams he is constantly dodging left and right.

Soon Angemon makes his key move, activating his move, "Angel Staff!" he twirls his staff into a shield in front of him that disperses the next fireball that was about to slam into him.

This shocks the Airdramon long enough for Angemon to fly right into his face with a mighty roundhouse swing of his staff denting and cracking the hard dragon bone covering Airdramon's face.

Airdramon loses 50ft in altitude as he recovers from the harsh hit looking up at the Angemon only to see he has already charged another beam in his hand to fire upon him.

Airdramon gulps in fear as he tries to fly away. But his reaction comes a little too late as Angemon unleashes his attack with a mighty call.

"Hand of Fate! HAAAH!"

The mighty beam of golden holy energy flies forth and completely covers The fleeing Airdramon in his ray as it cries out in pain from the sheer force of the beams energy coating its entire body.

When the attack is finished the Airdramon digitizes and collapses it's form into a burst of 1's and 0's as it's now non-corrupted Digi-egg begins to fall out of the sky.

(End song)

Angemon quickly swoops down and retrieves it and lands on one of the many outcroppings of the volcano. After gently placing the egg down and making sure it will be safe here until he can retrieve it later, he turns his eyes to the rest of the volcano to see where else in this area the enemy lies in wait for him.

Volcano Ground Patrol

(Cue-Log Horizon: Utsukushiki Assassin ost)

The corrupted Tuskmon is still trying to sink his main horns into the annoying opponent he is fighting. All around him the ground and walls of the volcano have been torn up and his body is covered in sweat and gashes from the sharp claws of his foe as the Saberdramon he is fighting now lies hidden in a shadow somewhere nearby.

Roaring out in anger he charges the shadow he last saw her dive into with dark flames coating his main two tusks, "Flaming charge!"

The attack lands and explodes the ground where Saberdramon should have been, only to receive another gash to his back as Saberdramon jumps out from a shadow that was to Tuskmon's right.

"You! Annoying! Vermin!" The Tuskmon barely roars out through a mix of anger, corruption of his mind, and his own originally low intelligence.

Saberdramon lands on a boulder nearby looking at the weakened and panting dino with pity at his corruption from the virus, "I may be a vermin in your eyes, but to me this is necessary to help bring you back to your old self. Now be cleansed! Shadow Talon!"

Saberdramon dives right down into Tuskmon's already weakening back from her previous numerous attacks with her talons now coated in her shadowy blue flames. She connects with the strong back and points her talons at just the right spot to stab right through Tuskmon and land on the other side of him with a clean hole right through his body that leaks out some red 1's and 0's before he explodes into a green and ivory patterned Digi-egg.

Saberdramon puff out some air in relief at the end of the fight knowing she had already dragged it out longer than she should have. Ugh I have got to get more used to fighting in this form! I already wasted 5 minutes I didn't need to trying to weaken him to the point of one good attack being able to finish him off.

She rolls his egg out of the main path she fought him on into a crevice that opened up from their fighting for safe keeping, "I'll be back for you later, for now I have others to defeat."

Corrupted Digimon left: 7

Volcano Watchtower

Klein and Dinohyumon both stare down the corrupted Tyrannomon with eagerness in their eyes as they ready themselves for the coming fight with such a tank based Digimon.

Klein looks to his partner with a grin, "You ready pal? This isn't the simulator anymore, or a spar with Leomon."

Dinohyumon nods with a serious determined face, "Of course my friend, I am ready and willing to join you in the holy art of combat that binds us together as brothers in arms."

Klein looks at him with a confused grin, "Man you certainly matured in this form, but all I can say is," his confused grin turns into a feral smile promising pain to his target, "AGREED!"

Klein has his half plate armor on with a long sword and kite shield in his hands to throw down with this champion (Imagine goblin slayer armor minus the helmet), while Dinohyumon stands ready with his 5ft long cleaver sword in his right hand and his 2 ft long combat knife in his left hand both blades pointed at their foe.

Klein begins to circle left while Dinohyumon circles right as they both prepare to pincer the Tyrannomon between them.

(Cue Sword Art Online- Swordland ost extended)

The Tyrannomon makes the first move against the duo by launching a stream of hot flames at Dinohyumon believing him to be the worse threat of the two.

The flames come flying at the bipedal dinoman who leaps up into the air by 15ft and lands against Tyrannomon's chest using it as a leaping point to jump to another part of the battle field causing the corrupted dinosaur to stumble from the force of the jump.

Klein capitalizes on this distraction from his partner by cutting the back of the knee and Achilles tendon of Tyrannomon's left leg causing the dino to stumble further onto one knee and making him suddenly much shorter than before. This in turn makes an ideal opportunity for Dinohyumon to ump once again but this time activating a signature move of his, "Dino Slash!" this coats his 5ft long cleaver in flames and slashes it down Tyrannomon's chest creating a large gash that spans his right shoulder to left hip.

Tyrannomon leans back from the pain as he begins to roar from the attack just as Klein launches a bola from his shield that wraps around the muzzle and keeps his roar muted and unheard by his comrades.

Dinohyumon quickly capitalizes on this opportunity and activates his other move, "Dance of Blades!"

He spins into a miniature cyclone with the blades all over him cutting, slashing, and gashing all over Tyrannomon's form leaving many red cuts all over him with all of them leaking red 1's and 0's from each cut.

The final nail in the coffin is when Dinohyumon lands from his attack with Tyrannomon about to slam a still working right claw into him to try and crush his foe, only to feel something quickly climbing up his spines.

Trying to tell what it is costs him precious few seconds as he feels whatever it was finish it's climb up his spines and leap off the one on his head and yell out, "TIME TO BECOME EXTINCT!"

As a long sword stabs and hilts itself, into his head from the attack, this causes an eruption of red colored data to spurt from his head as he digitizes and turns into a red and green Digi-egg once more.

Klein pants a bit before whooping in joy at their victory while giving Dinohyumon a huge smile of victory, Dinohyumon simply shakes his head with a regular smile on his face at his human Tamer's antics, remembering that he still wouldn't trade him for any other human.

He picks himself up from the ground and clasps their arms together in victory, "Well met my friend, but we still have a few opponents left to fight against."

Klein checks the condition of his sword before looking back up to his Digimon, "Yeah we do, but hey! We can beat them as long as we keep our combo strong, and our team work swift!"

The Digimon nods in agreement as they hear more roars and a 25ft gout of flame fly up into the air before hearing a roar of pain and struggle follow it.

Klein looks in the direction of the noise, "I think they might need our help soon pal."

Dinohyumon nods with a serious expression on his face, "Indeed let us hurry lest they be left alone should things go south for them."

Right as they prepare to leave they are greeted by another corrupted Tyrannomon with a corrupted Tuskmon as his back up.

The duo look to each other and nod before charging these two new challengers hoping their fellow Tamer can hold on until they arrive.

Volcano Sky Patrol

Angemon hears the roar and sees the flame and starts to head in the direction of the camp before barely dodging to his left as an orb of dark energy flies right at him.

He looks quickly to see who attacked only to receive a huge clawed hand to his body zapping him with dark electricity.

"AAAAAAAAAHHHH!" gritting his teeth through the pain Angemon manages to flood his body with holy energy causing the attack to cease and the hand to retract to it's owner.

Panting he looks up at his new foe while sweating, Damn! A powerful Devimon is here? Usually they are Lieutenants or commanders of squads in the 7 vices army! What is one doing here? Unless…

"Hey! Devimon! Are you the one who corrupted these poor innocent Digimon into your new soldiers?!" Angemon readies his staff and attack while waiting for a response.

The Devimon chuckles a bit before laughing out loud at Angemon's questioning, "HA! You are correct sir! A new virus strain meant for corrupting Data and Vaccine types has given us a new edge against your dwindling numbers! Once it is perfected we shall enslave all of your troops! Even your mighty generals! After all one cannot win a war without an army to help them! Prepare to meet your DOO-OOOOF!"

Right as his speech was ending Devimon received a hard blow to his stomach from Angemon's staff with a holy glow along it causing him to burn from the energy slightly, "You know you aren't the first enemy to say stuff like that to us of the Holy Angel Alliance, and you definitely won't be the last, so prepare yourself to be ended here and now!"

Devimon rubs his stomach in pain and grits his teeth into a snarl while flying full force at the angel.

Both charging up energy attacks of dark and light and with a resulting explosion they begin their fight with the intent of deleting the other.

Volcano Ground Patrol

Saberdramon just finished off an Airdramon with a successful sneak attack when she heard the roar of pain and the flames. She looks toward the camp with worry but remembers she still has to finish up the last of the corrupted Digimon first before she can help her friend and Tamer.

That roar! Could it be Greymon's? … NO! He promised he would be fine and I will believe in him! He is my friend, ally, and comrade in arms! Stopping to think to herself briefly she blushes a bit while thinking more of his form and how he has been there for her for a while now, Ugh! Not the time to think about him like that! I'll sort through these thoughts and emotions after this mission! Not before!

With one more look towards the camp she flies off to the next area that was in need of checking while activating her comlink, "Seth Greymon, if you two can hear me I am almost done with the enemies on the volcano, just hold on a bit longer and I will be there to help shortly."

Cutting off the link she flies even faster as she spots another Airdramon flying towards the camp, no doubt to support it's leader in the fight.

Corrupted Digimon left: 5

Volcano Battle Pit

(A few minutes prior to the flame and roar)

Greymon met Deltamon's charge head on barely grasping the left and right heads to keep them from sinking their teeth into him. Just as he is done meeting the charge and stopping the bites from happening he gets blasted in the face from the middle head with a concentrated energy beam that flings Greymon back into the wall of the battle pit with a resounding boom.

Seth activates a Recovery card to keep Greymon feeling fresher, but while his wounds are healing, his stamina is still lost from the fight.

Peeling himself from the new Greymon shaped hole in the wall of the battle pit he pants lightly still feeling the sting from the blast and the impact despite the healing he just received, "Hoooo boy, you are a tough bastard aren't you?"

Reading himself he hears the deep rumble of laughter from his foe as he prepares himself for anything, "HA HA HA! Indeed! But you are a tough one yourself! Join me and my forces with the corruption! You'll grow much stronger than you are now! And you shall be given half of the volcano to rule alongside me! As comrades! What do you say?"

Greymon looks at him with an 'are you serious look' alongside Seth who is just giving a 'WTF' face as well.

The partners look at each other than back at him before eloquently responding with, "No."

"NOVA BLAST!"

Right before a fireball from Greymon launches and hits Deltamon right in his chest making the titanic Dragon/Dinosaur hybrid be pushed back 10ft from the force of the flames.

Seth checks his Digivice to see the progress they have made against Deltamon seeing his original 100% health is now down to 87%.

Gritting his teeth in frustration Seth gets ready to tell Greymon the next move right as Deltamon roars loudly while releasing a huge torrent of flames from each mouth into the air. Each flame gout reaching 50ft tall at least. "ROOOOOOOOOAAAAAAARRRRRRR! Very Well then! Know that I gave you chance to avoid Deletion and you refused! Now prepare to be destroyed! Maybe I'll consume your human pet there after I am done with you! I can imagine it now! My Left head gets his right arm and leg, my right gets the left arm and leg and my middle head gets his head and torso! MUWAHAHAHAHAHA OOOOOH IT WILL BE SO DELICIOUS!"

(Cue Digimon Brave heart OST extended)

Deltamon would have continued his tirade if not for a sudden feeling of a huge weight being pressed onto him from across the battle pit. He expects to see Greymon angry with him for that and he was ready to capitalize on it since anger makes you sloppy, but what he saw stopped him cold and made him pause in both fear and confusion.

Greymon's pupils had immediately turned into slits in anger at such a claim, first Devimon wanted to capture Seth and force him to be his Tamer, IceDevimon was ready to break all of Seth's bones before eating him, and now this sorry excuse for a dragon wants to rip his tamer apart in such a horrific way? Heck no!

Stomping his feet hard into the ground he lets out an ear shattering roar of challenge at Deltamon while his body is coated in a brilliant orange flame, unknown to him though. Above him on the pits edge was Seth also coated in the same orange flames with his Digivice having turned from its white base, black ring, and blue strap, to an orange base, blue ring and brown strap as a sun symbol was starting to appear on the screen shining dimly.

Both Tamer and Digimon roar their challenge together as Deltamon is having a small panic attack at how he was never told any of this by the one who gave him the bug that powered him up so much!

Use the bug to grow more powerful and take over the volcano: Check

Meet and defeat a human and his Greymon that would be passing through the area!

That should have been easy! No brainier! But suddenly he sees these two are more than meets the eye!

He steadies himself and launches his "Triplex Force!"

The three green energy beams launch forward towards the still roaring Greymon resulting in an explosion.

Grinning at the easy victory Deltamon chuckles to himself before stopping and gasping in fright at how the Greymon was still standing strong. Not only that the flames seemed to have reformed into some sort of transparent metallic arm over his normal left Greymon arm! And he had the metal arm protecting his body as some sort of shield that doesn't even have a dent or crack form his most powerful attack!

"HOW!? HOW DID YOU GET A METAL ARM! NOTHING SHORT OF CHROME DIGIZOID SHOULD BE ABLE TO WITHSTAND MY ATTACK!"

Right as he ended his tirade Seth activated his Speed Boost card allowing Greymon to launch from his place in the pit practically flying at Deltamon with his new transparent metal arm leading with its three long claws out in front ready to pierce through Deltamon.

The evil Digimon barely has time to react by blocking the blow with his own skull arm which does block the blow… by taking all the claws right through its jaw up through it's head resulting in it cracking and breaking into large bone chunks.

Deltamon's eyes widen as he screams in pain shortly before refocusing and launching his cybernetic snake head out in the attack, "Serpents Bite!"

Greymon barely has time to block the bite with his new arm before it is wrenched to the side by the jaws that clamp over it. As both arms move he sees Deltamon has readied his next attack in the shape of a gout of flame that coats Greymon from head to toe, "Dragon's Wrath!" yells Deltamon as he launches the flames.

He ends the attack after 5 seconds of non stop flames expecting to see Greymon heavily burned and weakened. Only when the flames end he sees Greymon is covered in thicker scales and has only taken a bit of damage in the form of some small scorch marks across his body and legs.

Grinning at how Seth activated the Dragon Scales and Barrier cards together. He readies himself as Seth activates a Power Boost card right as Greymon rears his head back with fresh flames dancing in his mouth. He yells out, "NOVA FLAME!"

Right as bright blue and white flames launch from his maw at the shocked and point blank range Deltamon.

The flames meet his hide and immediately there is the smell of burning flesh as Deltamon is starting to cook and burn from the heat of the flames. He roars out in extreme pain as the flames seem to get even hotter the longer they go on.

The flames finally end but not before Deltamon is down to a mere 23% of his health and is covered in 3rd degree burns and his right head arm is so damaged from the heat that it can barely twitch let alone get ready for another attack.

He raises his head to try and launch one more Triplex Force attack but instead is stopped as Greymon is rushing toward him with a fresh dose of the Speed Boost card in his system, and the Dragon Claw boost card coating his transparent metal arm.

With the Dragon Claw card giving him some extra oomph Greymon punches a hole right through Deltamon's torso with lots of red 1's and 0's leaking from the hole as the evil Digimon slumps to his knees.

(End Music)

Deltamon looks to Greymon and Seth as the orange aura from before dissipates from them leaving Greymon panting heavily after feeling all the exertion he did catching up to him. Seth falls to one knee feeling a similar feeling flood his system.

Greymon looks to Deltamon's slowly deleting form as he begins to digitize and revert to a Digi-egg.

"Why?" Deltamon looks up at him slowly, his eyes unfocused, "Why do all of this? Kill the previous lord of the volcano? Power? Land? Turned traitor and joined with the enemy? Tell me!"

Greymon practically roars out the last part as he isn't hearing any answer from his fallen foe until a coughing and hacking weak laugh comes from his kneeling form, "Hahahaha… cough hack… I did this… cough cough… ALL of this… to have… Cough cough… a chance of Digi-… HACK!… a chance at Digivolution… Wisemon, an enemy scientist… said I… had potential… cough cough wheeze!… to Digivolve, but not while I was under the rule of that… pant pant cough… weak, pathetic, Greymon… So I betrayed him! Hahahah- hack hack!… I gained power! I was almost an Ultimate! Then you came along and changed it!… now… cough… without anything left… wheeze pant… I end my legacy here… without any regrets… cough pant… except that I wasn't able to… delete… you..."

Slumping over Deltamon finally succumbs to his injuries and finishes his "death" into a Digi-egg.

Seth jumps and lands in the pit as Greymon reverts back to Agumon. Both partners look to each other then at pity at the egg. They scan it and send it to Holy Angel Palace hoping that it can grow again, into a better Digimon this time.

Right as the egg disappears they are bombarded by all the Digimon who were living in the camp from all sides with praise and cheers!

"WHOOOOOOO HOOOOO!"

"THEY DID IT WE ARE FREE!"

"WE MUST PRAISE THE HEROES!"

"THREE CHEERS FOR THE NEW LORD OF THE VOLCANO AND HIS HUMAN PARTNER! HIP HIP!"

"HOORAY!"

While the cheering continued Seth looks to Agumon who looks sheepish and nervous, "Well well well, promoted to a lord after being a Champion level for only a few days hmmm? Moving up in the world I see."

Agumon scoffs in a good natured way as a ladder is lowered for them to climb up, "Yeah but I will need to appoint someone as my replacement here once we rest up and recuperate, I don't know about you, but I could sleep for at least 3 days after all of that effort we just did."

Seth nods as they finish climbing out of the hole and are hugged, slapped on the back, petted, and bowed to from the celebrating Digimon, some of which hurt since they were from Champions who didn't conform to Deltamon's rule.

As they were getting praised they see a familiar pink bird Digimon flying towards them from a higher path of the Volcano, they both turn in time to get a huge glomping hug from Biyomon as she flies right into them.

"You two are okay! Oh my gosh I am so happy you're both Okay!"

She waits for a response only to realize that both her friends are starting to shake and quiver a bit before she pulls back and sees that they were starting to turn blue from how tightly she has hugged them around their necks.

"EEP!" She quickly backs up allowing them to regain room in their throats to breathe once again.

After taking huge gulps of air Seth begins, "Whew Biyomon! Glad to see you too! How did it go with the mission? Also please remember to never hug us that hard again, after all you are still gaining more strength as we win more fights together."

As the group continues their talks the Digimon around them slowly disperse to repair the battle pit and their camp grounds from all the fighting that has gone on today.

Biyomon sheepishly rubs the back of her head at that but reports while glancing at Agumon as he breathes and smiles at her once he has regained enough of his air, "Well I got as many as I could find but for some reason some of them were already defeated by the time I got there, either some of the Digimon in this camp rose up and helped us while you two fought Deltamon, or we have hidden friends somewhere around here."

Seth thinks on that for a bit before Agumon pipes up, "Maybe that Angemon who was watching us from a distance stepped up to help us in this case? He was there before according to Sorcerymon."

Seth and Biyomon both think a bit and nod at tat reasoning since it does seem to be a good possibility.

"Yeah or you guys had back up in a different way from Sorcerymon himself!" yells out a voice from behind them.

They all turn to see a bruised but smiling Klein and a Kotemon who looks like he could go for a bath and a nap based on the scorch marks and bruises he is sporting.

The original trio pause at the new faces and all ask, "And who the heck are you guys?"

Klein realizes that Sorcerymon didn't tell them about him based on their reaction and begins to explain why he is there,"Well it's a bit of a long story."

Seth answers him at that junction, "We have time and rest to spare, so how about we go find a place for us to set up for some food, naps, and talks?"

Klein laughs at Seth's bluntness and begins to explain how he is another Tamer, he was their back up for this threat at the volcano, and how he is the one who destroyed the watch tower based on the reactions of some of the local Digimon who just noticed their watch tower is no longer standing.

The group talk and get to know each other better while up above them they were unaware of a very important fight that had ended right as they wrapped up their own fights.
