Third Person

The blue hedgehog's eyes were still wide and he slowly turned to look at Shadow. Said hedgehog only stared at Sonic with a blank face than left the room. Sonic didn't know what to think. What the heck did Shadow just do? Why did he feel something stir inside him? Why is Shadow talking about this Maurice!? So many questions that aren't answered. But while the blue hedgehog was pondering over his thoughts, someone from inside the blue blur had heard the ebony hedgehog. Maurice was very much confused on where he was and what was happening but hearing Shadow made him want to call out to him for safety. And that is exactly what he did.

"Shadow?" The blue hedgehog jumped when he heard the voice. His fur stood on edge.

"What the..." He muttered as he looked around the room. Where did that voice come from? Who was talking? The room didn't have any speakers so it couldn't have been from outside... So they had to be from the room. But where is the huge question on Sonic's mind right now.

"Shadow, why can't I move my body? Where are you?" The voice called out again making the poor blue hedgehog jump to his feet right off the bed. He had his quills partially raised from being startled so badly and his fur puffed out to make himself look bigger than he was. He looked around with narrowed eyes and in a battle stance. Whoever was in the room should know better than to mess with Sonic the Hedgehog.

"Who's there!? I know I can hear you! Show yourself!"

"... Oh... That's why I can't move... It's you..." The voice said again slightly annoyed on figuring out the situation at hand leaving Sonic very confused on why the voice sounded awfully close but couldn't see anyone.

"Huh? What do you mean 'It's me'? Who are you? Why are you in this room?"

"Because other me. You are controlling my body." The voice really sounded annoyed and also disgusted now as if it didn't like this at all. Sonic couldn't believe what he was hearing. Who the hell was talking to him?! Where were they!?

Sonic placed his hands on his hips as he looked around bored. They wanted to play? He would play along. "Right. Right. I'm controlling your body. Like I believe that."

"Oh so you don't believe me?" The voice said it seemed like this was a game he was going to win. "Fine. Don't believe me. But when you go to sleep, like a good little boy you're supposed to be and stay asleep, I'll take back my body that you stole from me. Then I'll go on my merry way without having to worry about you anymore. I'll take back what's rightfully mine and even kill Master while I'm at it."

"Wait, what?!" Sonic's eyes were wide at that. He thought this was some type of joke... This just went from strange to absolutely creepy in a matter of seconds to him. Take back what's his? Kill!? This wasn't normal even by Sonic's standards. He looked around worried about whoever this was. What did they want with him?

"L-Look, I don't go killing anyone. That isn't what I stand for! That is wrong on so many levels! I don't know why you want me but can't we talk about this? Maybe in a way that won't involve anything related to b-blood? I mean... This could all just be one huge mistake." All was silent for a few seconds until...

"This isn't a mistake. You stole my very life from me! GIVE ME BACK MY BODY!"

"Gah!" Sonic held his ears tightly because the yelling sounded like it was right in his ears...

He slowly moved his hands away when he thought his head would stay intact and his eyes widened when he remembered how close the voice sounded right then... Like it was... Inside him... Sonic's breathing started to get ragged and his eyes were impossibly wide. He wasn't thinking of anything; but how? How? How? How? That's all he could think of. He saw the one-way mirror and went up to it. He knew his friends were on the other side but that wasn't what he was going over there for. He heard of different reflections showing who you are inside. He never saw anyone else besides himself in the mirror. What he saw... He didn't like it. His fur was brown but the biggest thing he could see was that his eyes were emerald green but it turned into a chocolate brown near the middle and eventually mixed together into a pitch black.

Sonic slowly backed away with wide eyes as his whole world felt like it was collapsing. The voice decided now was the time to speak up again. "Now you realize what is happening, don't you? How your entire life was a lie? Let me just say one thing to you Sonic. My name is Maurice. And that's my body you are controlling." Sonic could only stare at the reflection. What everyone else saw and what he saw were two different things. All they saw was a cobalt blue hedgehog with darker than normal green eyes. Sonic saw... Whatever that hedgehog was...

"Th-This... C-Can't... Be h-happening..." He was starting to freak out. To hyperventilate. He looked around the room and didn't know if those were real or an illusion either. How could he tell? His whole life was an illusion. What Else has been fake? He had to get away from everyone. He had to run. Maybe this whole crazy shit would stop messing with his mind. He spin dashed into the robots held neatly on the wall trying to see if there was a way out. He had to get out. This was all too much for him.

Meanwhile outside of the room...

Shadow had just exited the room that was holding the cobalt hedgehog captive. The others wanted to know if there was any change in his attitude or to anything of him at all. No such luck. Eggman had stayed away from the argument the Mobians had now gotten themselves into on what should be done with the cobalt hedgehog. He was reminiscing the times he and Maurice had. He once in a while would look back at the group of Mobians before sighing and rubbing his head. How Mobians which were supposed to have way better hearing than a human like him could ever have go to yelling overtop of one another until they were almost screeching was beyond him. He was pulled out of his mindless observation when he started hearing noise from the other room. Again, how were the Mobians not hearing this and he was? Then again he's not in the current argument... He tossed that thought away and approached the one-way mirror.

He never thought he would ever see Sonic the Hedgehog ever freak out before now... Sonic was always so calm, cool, collected with his feelings. Sonic is happy-go-lucky and cocky with a dash of heroism. So to see that same hedgehog freaking out and succeeding to destroy almost everything - not including the walls - in the room, it made the human worry. He walked over to the door and timed Sonic's almost erratic and unpredictable movements. Almost. The thing he was predicting was when Sonic was facing from the door and how far away he was. It was approximately 5 seconds from each turn and 10 for when he zipped from one end of the room to the next. He was waiting until both numbers aligned with each other. If he was correct, he would have only a 5 second window to open the door, close it again, get Sonic's attention without a possible spin dash to the face and figure out what was wrong to make said hedgehog calm down. The first two things he could push on. Everything after that would work better for someone with quicker reflexes. Like Shadow. But the Ultimate Lifeform was busy at the moment so it was up to Eggman to do the seemingly impossible job. Impossible was never a word that was in Sonic's vocabulary.

Eggman counted down the time he would need to get in the room and close the door. He didn't bother if Sonic was potentially dangerous or murderous right now. He wanted his old friend safe.

Eggman gripped the doorknob and gave it a twist after unlocking it just enough that it would lock after it closed.

Eggman gritted his teeth because he knew that he might not make it out of this alive. He opened the door and ran in.

Have you ever had those moments everything just seemed to slow down? That time had almost stopped because it was like seeing your life flash before your eyes or a moment that could be a major change? That is exactly what happened to our hedgehog and human duo. Just as Eggman ran into the room and the door was almost closed, Sonic had turned in that second and their eyes met. One thing was clear to both. One wanted freedom, the other was blocking that path. Everything seemed to slow down as Sonic took a step forward and pushed himself to start using his speed. Eggman didn't have time for the speedy hedgehog to be in front of the human. Eggman could only take one step back as Sonic held his one hand out. With a force that he could only imagine helped the cobalt one to destroy robots, he was pushed aside and slammed into the adjacent wall. It was thankful Eggman had his huge jacket for protection against hard movements like this otherwise he would have broken some bones from how much force was used. Their eyes met again just as the one passed the other to freedom and Eggman could see how lost and confused the other was. Almost insane if you look at it from the right angle...

But now there was one more problem to worry about. Sonic the Hedgehog took off in a Sonic Boom meaning that finding him could be close to impossible now. And that got the Mobians attention. Eggman drowned out their voices as he could only think about and remember the look in Sonic's eyes. And the colour, how could he miss something like that? He then saw a certain Chaos Emerald just laying aimlessly on the floor. So that's what was stopping them from seeing the different coloured eyes. He then stood up and picked the emerald up all the while ignoring the Mobians as they slowly fell silent when they realized that the human wasn't talking to their demands. They could just barely hear the human as he spoke in a whisper.

"He's in danger... GUN won't rest until he is back in their hands... We have to find him soon..."

The Mobians all then started getting to work one by one. The hunt for Sonic the Hedgehog was on.
