Lucy sat at her kitchen table with Alex, she told him everything about her day, excluding her crying with Natsu, she wasn't too sure how she felt about that.
Alex listened carefully to everything Lucy said, she talked about Natsu, the boy he had met at his restaurant around a year ago. "Seems like he's a good one." Alex thought as she continued to ramble.
"so you wanna hear it?" Lucy asked him
"Huh?" Alex said, so much for listening as he had completely zoned out.
"I said do you wanna hear the song Natsu and I wrote?" She repeated
"Yeah of course!" He watched as she opened her iPod to play the video and then suddenly got up. "I think I'll just play it to you instead of making you listen to the video because the quality is pretty bad." Lucy walked over to her piano bench and waited for Alex to follow. She took a deep breath and started to play.
Alex was entranced the entirety of the song, Lucy had a beautiful singing voice, he sighed once she stopped playing.
Lucy looked up at him with concern, "what's wrong? Do you not like the song?" she asked.
"No! not that at all, its just one year of piano lessons with you and I still can't play." He pouted. Lucy laughed.
"Don't worry big brother, it takes time, I'm sure you will get the hang of it soon." She said to him cheerfully. Alex returned a smile before his changing his demeanor to a serious one.
"Hey CeeCee, you be careful okay?" He said to her in a tense tone. "I know you're excited about your new school and friends, but please be safe. The scariest people hide behind the kindest smiles." He said to her in a tense but caring tone.
Lucy knew exactly what he was referring to, a shiver travelled down her spine, suddenly the room felt 10 degrees colder. She subconsciously rubbed her back, where some of her biggest scars were. She knew Alex was not saying it to be rude, but after hearing what happened to her the months prior to their meeting, he was terrified of anyone ever hurting her again.
*Flashback*
Lucy walked down the road, it had been a week since she left her home and was struggling to find any stability in her life. She had run out of money and was standing outside a café, hoping the smell of the food would be enough to satisfy her empty stomach. That's when she saw him. He was tall and handsome, wearing a pair of jeans, a crisp white shirt, and a pair of triple white Jordan one Mids. Lucy averted her gaze from the boy as he walked towards the café, she looked terrible, wearing week old clothes, her eyes had terrible bags from the lack of sleep and she looked deadly pale from the malnourishment. She stared at her shoes waiting for the boy to pass by, to her surprise he didn't.
"Hey pretty lady, what's your name?" The handsome boy asked Lucy. She looked up to him in surprise
"Me?" She asked while pointing at herself.
"Well yeah, do you see anyone else around." He said arrogantly.
Lucy blushed, "My names Lucy, may I ask yours?" She responded.
"Lucy how beautiful a name, my names Laxus, wanna join me for a coffee." He said extending his hand to hers. Her nodded her head with a hopeful smile. Her mother told her when she was young that there would come a day that she would find her knight in shinning armor, and that he would save her in her most trying times. Lucy looked at Laxus and smiled, her knight had finally come to save her from her nightmare.
This was far from the reality though, after their coffee date Laxus offered to let her stay in his apartment. "A beautiful girl like you shouldn't be left to fend for herself on the streets, you will be safe with me, I promise." He said as he showed her around his place. His house was nice, it was a bit out of town, but she didn't mind. Unfortunately, the nice Laxus she was falling for wasn't who he turned out to be. After 2 weeks of living together was the first time she would come to realize this.
It was 11pm, Laxus was out drinking with his friends as Lucy tidied the house, she had cooked dinner hours before and left his plate in the microwave for him to have once he was home. Lucy had just sat down as Laxus slammed through their front door.
"Heyyyyyy Lucyyyyy." Laxus slurred. Lucy looked at him with concern, he was absolutely sloshed.
"Hey Lax, dinners in the microwave, I'm gonna head to bed okay?" She said with a smile as she stood from the couch. Laxus quickly grabbed her arm aggressively and spun her to face him.
"Bed? Why would you go to bed right now when I literally just got home. Wow I give you all this and you don't even want to spend time with me, how selfish of you." Laxus spat at her, his demeanor had done a 180, he went from a goofy drunk to a mean ass within seconds.
Lucy stared at him; her eyes wide with shock. "I'm sorry, I'm just really tired, I didn't mean to be rude Laxus." She said looking at her shoes, she felt terrible for upsetting him.
"Its fine I guess." He stared at her lips lustfully, "But you will have to make it up to me." He said with a mischievous grin, Lucy's stomach formed knots. He leaned down to kiss her, aggressively, he grabbed her waist and forced her closer to him. Lucy replied to his kisses, not wanting to upset him. It wasn't until he tried to slip his hand under her shirt that she pulled a way.
"Sorry Laxus, its just I'm not ready for that yet you know?" She said kindly to him. Lucy had only had her first kiss before Laxus, she didn't want to rush anything else, she wanted to make sure she had found the right person before giving herself away completely.
Laxus stared at her, he saw red. He slammed her into the wall behind them, her head bounced off the wall and she saw stars.
"You little bitch, the least you could do is sleep with me to thank me for all I've done for you, but you're clearly to pretentious for that." He growled at her. Lucy trembled underneath his gaze; her head pounded.
"Laxus, I-I'm sorry, I just-"Lucy stuttered as her struggled to find the words. She was cut of by a brutal slap to the cheek.
"You are a filthy little useless bitch; I'm leaving to find a real women who can please me since your fucking worthless." He glared at her menacingly before grabbing his car keys are storming out of the house.
Lucy stood there frozen, her knees gave out and she fell to the ground. Her hand rubbed her bright red cheek. She began to cry; she was absolutely terrified. She knew she should leave but felt paralyzed. She sat there for hours in complete and utter shock, until sleep finally over came her.
Laxus would spend the next week profusely apologizing, he ravished her in expensive gifts and promised to never drink again. But that wouldn't be the end of it. The week after he would punch her so hard, she eye would swell shut. Despite this, Lucy stayed with him, she had convinced herself that his outbursts were her fault. She thought she could change him, until one night…
It was mid July, Lucy was coming home from a late-night walk, she left Laxus a note saying where she would be going and that she would be home in an hour. She walked up the steps to the house and heard the sound of a girl laughing.
"Laxus, I'm home." She yelled into the dark house, "Why are all the lights off?" she asked herself. She heard the sound of a woman laughing from the upstairs bedroom, she followed the sound of the voices until she was at her and Laxus's bedroom. She slammed open the door and her heart broke.
The lights were off, the first thing she saw was the fireplace, there was a nice fire burning so bright it lit up the room. That's when she saw them; there in the bed laid a barley dressed women straddling Laxus. The girl screamed and jumped off him at the sight of Lucy.
"Who are you?" The naked lady asked lucy, she clearly didn't know Laxus had a girlfriend.
"I'm his girlfriend, who are you?" Lucy snarled back.
The girl quickly threw on her clothes and ran out of the house, leaving an angry and betrayed Lucy. Tears threatened to spill over as she looked at her boyfriend.
"How could you?" She seethed.
"Me? How could I? What did you expect Lucy, I have needs you selfish bitch." He yelled at her. Laxus rose from their bed and got close to her. He towered over her.
"Why can't you just respect my decision?! Why is it so hard to understand I want to wait?" She yelled back.
"Lucy, you better shut up…" Laxus said with a warning. His eyes narrowed and his hands bawled into fists.
"You don't get to tell me what to do, you don't get to talk to me like that after YOU cheated on me you whore." She screamed at him, she wasn't crying anymore, her mind was flooded with rage.
Just like that, Laxus snapped. He beat Lucy black and blue. But he wasn't done there, he picked up the fire poker and burned Lucy's back. It burned threw her shirt and seared her skin. Lucy was barley conscious when he caried her to the bed and assaulted her.
When Lucy came to it was the next day. She managed to pull herself off of the bed. It was covered it blood, she looked down at herself trembling; she was naked, covered in bruises, at least one of her ribs was cracked, and her back burned like the fire of seven suns. she slowly put on a shirt off of the floor and looked around. The house had been emptied out. Laxus had taken the little money she had left, most of her jewelry, and everything of value from the house.
She packed the little amount of things she still had and fled the house. She spent the next month and a half back on the street, constantly watching her back, fearing for the day he would return.
"Yeah Alex, I'll be careful, don't worry." Lucy said with a weak smile.
