"So you're an Avenger now," Katya said, almost teasing, as they sat in the corner of the main floor of the ship. Dr. Strange and Tony were still arguing in small mutterings over by the viewport, Tony scanning the controls to familiarize himself with them.
Peter shrugged, but his smile betrayed the casual tone he seemed to be going for. "Yeah, I guess. And so are you."
"Ned would lose his shit."
Peter smiled, playing with a small ball of webbing he'd made that acted almost like a bouncing ball, though it would occasionally adhere to his hand or the floor, and he'd have to shake it free. "Yeah, he would."
Katya was fiddling idly with her butterfly knife. "Where do you think he is right now?"
"Probably hunkering down like the rest of New York. You weren't here, but when I was like eleven the Chitauri attacked New York the first time, and it was …bad."
Katya's mind flashed to the chaos they'd seen where the spaceship had landed- and it was only a few blocks' worth. She couldn't imagine the whole city being attacked that way. "What stopped them?"
"The Avengers. That was the first time they really came out, you know, and that's when they became so famous."
Katya nodded, having seen plenty of Thor action figures in shop windows over the years. It was weird to see Tony in his suit reduced to plastic form. She let out half a laugh. "And now they're everywhere." She bumped her knee with his. "You know, if they ever made Spiderman action figures, I'd buy out the whole store."
"Not before I bought out all the Missulena action figures." He teased back. Katya snickered.
"It was the first thing I could come up with, okay? Missulena is the genus name of the Mouse Spider."
"No, no-" Peter shook his the ball free from his hand before resuming bouncing it. "I like it! It's good. It fits. Sounds very mysterious."
"Well I am very mysterious." She dropped her voice to a low, ominous, teasing tone. "So mysterious, nobody even knows I exist."
Peter opened his mouth as if to say something, but she cut him off. "-And I'd like to keep it that way." She couldn't imagine the pressure of the entire world waiting for her to save them. She just wanted to build Lego and stop muggings.
Peter shrugged, but nodded. "You're selling yourself short, you know."
Katya shook her head. "I don't have super powers."
Peter snorted at that. "You may as well, with how good you are at what you do. No one else has ever been able to lay Spiderman out the way you do."
Katya smirked. "Consistently."
Peter sighed, as if loathe to admit it. "Yes, consistently." He kicked at her foot. "Damn."
From their spot in the corner, they could still see the viewport, and to Katya so far it just looked like a vast expanse of nothingness. She'd expected more stars- like when you see when you look up at the night sky- and there were, and some floating rocks they passed by occasionally, but otherwise it just looked like…nothing.
How long was it going to take them to reach Titan? How far away was it, anyway? How fast were they going? She'd heard of expeditions to Mars and Jupiter and all that from their history lessons…and those took years.
This is a one way ticket, kid. Don't pretend you've thought this through.
"We'll get there soon," Peter told her, catching her attention with a knee bump. It was like he could read her mind- it always was, with them. "This rock thing sounds really important. I doubt they'd just let it float in space forever."
"What's with the rock, anyway?"
Peter shrugged, unsticking his ball from where it'd adhered itself to the ground. "Not sure. Dr. Strange called it the time stone, which suggests it's like part of a set, and we could always ask Mr. Stark…"
They both glanced at the aforementioned man, who was still studying the controls, but his head hung low.
"Maybe in a little bit." Katya suggested. Peter nodded.
"Yeah, maybe a little later."

It became apparent, however, a couple more hours into their journey, that Tony's mood wasn't going to brighten any time soon. After a quick whispered conversation with Peter ("No, you ask him, he hates you less-") which she lost, Katya ventured out from their corner- but not without Peter in tow.
They both stood between him and Dr. Strange, who seemed to be…meditating? For a second before Katya cleared her throat.
This got Tony's attention, though he didn't move. "Yes?"
"Erm, so-" Katya started, dropping Peter's hand and trying to settle herself in what was presumably the pilot's seat behind Tony- which was the size of a small couch, and she sunk in immediately, so she chose instead to perch herself on top. "Peter and I were wondering-"
"What the time stone is?"
Katya was almost relieved she didn't have to finish her sentence. "Yes- What is it, exactly?"
Tony sighed for a bit before turning around, leaning against the controls and crossing his arms. He didn't seem as perturbed as before, though there was definite frustration in his gaze. More…exhausted.
"The way it was explained to me is that there's six stones floating around the universe that correlate with every aspect of existence- Reality, Time, Mind, Space, Soul, and Power- that were byproducts of the universe's creation. This guy Thanos is trying to collect them all-"
"-Like Pokemon?" Peter interrupted. Tony pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Sure, like Pokemon- and if he fits them into this gauntlet he's got, the Infinity Gauntlet, he intends on wiping out half of creation because he doesn't think the universe is…." Tony trailed off for a minute before using air quotes. "Sustainable."
"Blyat." Katya cursed at her knee, "You mean wipe out like…?"
"Kill?" Peter finished for her. Tony nodded gravely.
"Like kill. Although it sounds more like erasure from existence but…same diff, you know?"
"How many does he already have?" Katya asked, her voice quieter than she'd wanted it to be.
"We think four."
"Extra blyat." That was Peter. Katya suppressed a snort.
"Yeah, extra blyat. All the blyat. Which is why it's so important we keep as many as we can away from him."
"And he's-" Katya glanced over at Dr. Strange, who was now muttering to himself in his meditation. "Got one of them?"
"Yeah, I have about as much faith in that as you do, kid. But it's arguably our last hope."
Neither Peter nor Katya could keep their shoulders from sagging slightly.
Then- somehow suddenly, even though they'd all been staring out of it for hours- what looked like a planet popped into view of the bottom left corner of the viewport.
