Author's Note: Here I find myself taking a detour from the next book to really change things around. I want to remind people that this is an AU and there are some inconsistencies from the book to aid in my story telling. I appreciate any reviews. Thank you!

Chapter 46: Professor Umbridge

He wasn't supposed to be here. So much for spending time with his godfather; whatever was going on in the ministry prevented him from moving with Sirius as they had planned. No matter how much papers were pushed and more files were sent, the process had stalled. No one was happy in this manner and Sirius had sworn up and down the Ministry demanding to return Harry to his family. Harry was appreciative that Sirius was trying, but it seemed that for some part of the summer he was stuck once more with his Uncle.

Summer was absolutely awful. It was so hot and he did nothing but lay outside hoping to just get some fresh air before being stuck back in this hovel of a room. No one had sent him letters, not a single person. He only got a little note on his birthday of chocolates from Hermione and Ron but that was it. It had stung most that Angel hadn't sent a single thing. Not even during his birthday.

He had spent a whole week wondering if she had been forced to stop contacting or worse: if she was angry at him. He briefly wondered even if she had been disappointed in how he had ruined their plans of spending their summer with Sirius, but even that didn't make any sense. After all they had been good right before he was allowed out of the hospital wing. His only complaint was that they never got the chance to say goodbye to one another. There were no promises of letters but he had assumed.

"Damn it" he muttered.

His thoughts were interrupted as he heard some booming in the kitchen. Sitting up, he wondered what kind of trouble was coming his way.

Another letter was sent back. What was wrong? Angel couldn't help but be frustrated as Fortis once again brought the letter back that was supposed to be sent to Harry. Was he mad at her? Impossible, they hadn't really fought at all. Or spoke even. She frowned as she lay down on the deck. This didn't make an ounce of sense. Sure they hadn't had any promises of writing to one another, but this was just getting disrespectful.

'What if he's bored or thinks you're clingy?' the darker part of her mind asked. She shook those thoughts away. She was not about to play pity party.

"Why aren't you swimming?" a soft voice asked.

Looking up from where she laid down, she saw her mother looking down at her. Her mother's expression was one of amusement. Crushing the letter in her hands she shoved it in her purse before getting up. Her mother shook her head at her daughter's oddness and kissed her forehead.

"You should be enjoying the sun, not waiting for a boy to respond you know" she teased.

Angel's cheeks reddened and made a noise of annoyance at her mother's comment.

"Why would you possibly think it's a boy, mother?" she asked.

"Because" Narcissa smiled, "no one sends an owl at two in the morning to deliver a letter only to be angry to get it back. Make sure your father doesn't notice, he'll have a fit"

Both women laughed and Angel shook her head.

"It's no one"

Narcissa hummed. "Well this no one must be really special to catch your eye. Have fun darling but when it gets serious, please let me meet him before your father"

Blushing she laughed and agreed to her mother.

The sun was out on the island of Capri and her mother was right. She should be enjoying her summer. Harry would send her something when he was better. She wouldn't be angry especially with what had happened. So instead she kissed her mother and ran towards the edge only to dive off, successfully scaring her friends. This was what summer was about, the sun and the fun under it.

So Dumbledore hadn't allowed anyone to send him anything. Harry should have known. It had taken a Patronus to have him have something be explained to him. The fact that his friends had kept him in the dark had angered him more than anything. He couldn't help but wonder if Angel had been in on it, only to shove those away. It was clear that the people that knew where in the building. He didn't regret yelling at Hermione and Ron for their betrayal. That was how he saw it. After everything he went through, they had left him out for his safety? Stupid. It was probably Dumbledore that had kept him at the Dursley's instead of Sirius'. He felt his face burn in anger.

He felt Hedwig coo and rub her cheek against his own. He closed his eyes and let out a deep breath. Everything was overwhelming him and he just wanted to know everything that was going on. Why did this have to stay in the dark? The Order? He was being followed? He just wanted everything to be normal again.

He heard a knock on the door and he simply ignored it. He didn't want to talk to anyone.

"Harry? Come on open up" Sirius said.

Immediately Harry got up and rushed to open the door. As he did, he felt himself being pulled in a hug and he hugged back. He had missed him so much, the broken promises were still painful but he was glad his godfather was okay.

"Are you alright?" Both asked at the same time only to laugh.

"Merlin Harry how you've been?" he asked. "Have you gotten taller?"

Harry frowned and shrugged. That was enough for Sirius to close the door and lead them both to sit down and talk. He waited patiently for Harry to speak. He was getting better at this parenthood thing even if they were rare instances he was given the opportunity.

"I've been miserable. No one has written to me, only vague things and well…why was this kept for me?" he asked. "Not even Angel has written to me" he blushed mentioning her in her father's presence. "is she on this?"

Sirius shook his head and ruffled Harry's hair.

"I doubt she is. Dumbledore has been very controlling on what goes to you and what doesn't. So I can't answer that."

"Can you send a letter to her?" Harry asked, "tell her I haven't been ignoring her or anything and not to be mad at me? I know my letters would be intercepted if Ron and Hermoine's were."

"I'll try Harry" Sirius said smiling.

"What's going on in the order? Ron and Hermione haven't said anything"

"Yeah well Mrs. Weasley isn't allowing them to be in anything that has been done. So it's not their fault in that sense Harry. Their parent's decided that, but you on the other hand…let me tell you."

"It's not down for you to decide what's good for Harry!" Molly interrupted angrily. "You haven't forgotten what Dumbledore said, I suppose?"

Sirius turned to face her and got up. His face passive but his eyes said more.

"Which bit?"

Mrs. Weasley placed her hands on her hips and glared.

"The bit about not telling Harry more than he needs to know." Placing heavy emphasis on the last three words.

Slowly people began to form behind Mrs. Weasley to watch what was going on. It was almost embarrassing how shameless they were about watching the tennis match that was happening. Harry simply stared between the two.

"I don't intend to tell him more than he needs to know Molly" said Sirius, "But as he was the one who saw Voldemort come back" he ignored the way people flinched, "he has more right than most to-"

"He's not a member of the Order of the Phoenix!" she screeched, "He's only fifteen and-"

"And he's dealt with as much as most in the order" Sirius calmly replied, "and more than some"

"No one's denying what he's done!" Her voice was slowly rising even more. Her first trembling, "but he's still-"

"He's not a child!" Sirius interrupted impatiently.

"He's not an adult either!" Mrs. Weasley said, the color rising on her skin. "He's not James, Sirius!"

That felt like a slap in the face for Sirius. How dare this woman think that that's how he thought about his godson? As if he was reliving what he had with his best mate. It was his turn to clench his fists.

"I'm perfectly clear who he is, thanks, Molly" He said coldly.

"I'm not sure you are!" she continued, "Sometimes, the way you talk about him, it's as though you think you've got your best friend back!"

"What's wrong with that?" Harry interrupted.

He didn't understand why Mrs. Weasley was so judgmental about all of this. Wasn't it a good thing he and Sirius got along?

"What's wrong Harry, is that you are not your father, however much you might look like him!" Her eyes still boring into Sirius, "You are still at school and adults responsible for you should not forget it!"

"Meaning I'm an irresponsible godfather?" Sirius demanded to know, his voice rising.

"Meaning you have been known to act rashly Sirius, which is why Dumbledore keeps reminding you to stay at home and-"

"Dumbledore has nothing to do with this!" He said loudly.

"Arthur!" Mrs. Weasley said turning to face her husband angrily, "Back me up!"

Mr. Weasley looked caught off guard and merely lowered his head cleaning his glasses and refusing to talk.

"Personally" Remus cut in. He ignored the looks he was getting from both parties in this argument hoping that they would be backed up. "I think it is better that Harry gets the facts – 'not all the facts Molly, but the general picture- from us, rather than a garbled version from….others"

"Well!" Mrs. Weasley took a deep breath. She looked around the table for support only to receive none, "well…I can see I'm going to be overruled. I'll just say this: Dumbledore must have had his reasons for not wanting harry to know too much, and speaking as someone who has Harry's best interests at heart-"

"He's not your son" Sirius interrupted her softly.

That was a slap in the face for Mrs. Weasley. She flinched as if she was struck and her face began to turn purple.

"He's as good as" she said fiercely, "who else has he got?"

"He's got me!" Sirius' raised his voice, "He's my godson, he's my responsibility and as soon as this all ends he's coming with me!"

Harry's eyes brightened at the thought of finally being able to spend time with his godfather.

"Yes" Her voice was so cold, "the thing is, it's rather difficult for you to look after him after being locked up in Azkaban isn't it?"

"I'm acquitted!" Sirius screamed in return.

"Molly, you are not the only person that cares for Harry," Remus said sharply. "This is enough arguing. Sirius sit down, Molly, go cool off. Harry is old enough to decide for himself"

"I want to know what's going on" Harry said immediately, "And for the record Mrs. Weasley, I care about you to, but if I could, I would be with Sirius in a heartbeat"

The room went quiet and soon enough the explanations began.

….

"They just get away with everything don't they?!" Lucius' drawled annoyed as he removed his cloak.

Narcissa, Draco and Angel were having an afternoon luncheon by the villa when Lucius popped in surprising them. Angel had known that he had a meeting with the minister but she had no clue what it was about.

"What's wrong darling?" Narcissa asked.

"Harry Potter" he said annoyed as he sat down to join them for breakfast.

"What happened with him?" Draco asked acting as if he wasn't interested.

"Well" Lucius began, "it seems that the boy used magic in the muggle world. Now he had a court date and was acquitted. Quite biased if you ask me"

Angel almost choked on her drink at hearing that. Was this the reason why Harry wasn't allowed to answer her letters? She stayed quiet and heard her father explain everything. Her eyes stared intently as he spoke and took it all in. Her thoughts soon got distracted as she saw an owl flying into her room.

"May I be excused?" she asked politely, "I want to make sure I'm properly packed for school tomorrow"

They let her go and she rushed off only to find an owl she didn't know. It didn't matter because the small owl left her the letter she was most interested in opening. As she took the letter she noticed that it wasn't from Harry, but from Sirius. She slowly read what was going in and smiled thinking that of how her boyfriend managed to convince her father to write something to her. She didn't bother answering back knowing it would be useless, but hearing that Harry was fine calmed her down considerably.

"Now to pack" she muttered to herself.

…..

Goodbyes were always hard but there was a definitely change this year. For one thing Sirius proudly lead Harry to the train station. He purposely made a good show of giving Harry advice and hugging him and being overly careful as a 'good/smothering' parent should. Every time he did, Mrs. Weasley would grow redder and redder. It seemed their argument wasn't forgotten. It was a good feeling to have him hug him goodbye and promised him to write.

As they got in the train, Harry sighed in relief and turned to his friends.

"Shall we go find a compartment?"

Both Ron and Hermione exchanged looks.

"Er-"

"We're-well-Ron and I are supposed to go into the prefect carriage" she said awkwardly.

Ever since they were named prefect there was awkwardness. For one thing Hermione had thought that Harry had been the one named prefect only to realize it was Ron. Both knew that Ron didn't deserve it, and Harry was bitter. This was something he really thought he was going to get. Now Ron looked guilty not bothering to look at him.

"That's fine" Harry said shortly.

"I don't think we have to stay there the whole time" she said quickly, "Our letters said we just get instructions from the Head Boy and Girl and then patrols"

"Yeah see you later…"Harry trailed off.

Ginny looked enthused to have Harry all to herself and Harry then remembered it would just be the two of them. He looked awkwardly as she looked excited and quickly grabbed his hand rushing to try and find a compartment. He looked awkwardly as people looked on. He hoped he could have seen Angel but she was nowhere to be seen.

"The compartments are full" Ginny complained.

"We'll find a spot" Harry said looking around.

Seeing one compartment that was half open, he pushed it only to be surprised to find what he saw.

….

Angel was not going to spend her time in a compartment with just Crabbe and Goyle: she refused. Everyone had been surprise when Pansy and Draco were named Prefect, especially on Pansy's case. She had been very excited and immediately rushed off with Draco whose swagger was obvious. They hadn't even said bye.

So much for being friends no matter what year they were. This reminded Angel about how she was younger. Blaise wouldn't be in the compartment after he got a girlfriend and she refused to be with the two idiots just stuffing their faces.

So there she was, searching for compartments. Walking through the train she ignored the way that people stared.

"Need a seat?" someone said.

Turning her head she saw Luna smiling brightly and Angel couldn't help but return the smile. The girl was odd, but she did genuinely like her. Shrugging she dragged her bags into the compartments. As both girls moved their bags to the appropriate space they sat down and relaxed.

"How was your summer?" Angel found herself asking politely.

The moment the other girl began to open her mouth and speak about odd things Angel began to tune off. There were times were she was unsure what language Luna was even speaking, but it didn't matter for the blonde kept talking. Their conversation was interrupted as the door opened.

"Do you mind if I-oh" the boy said nervously.

Angel looked surprised at how Neville had changed so quickly in over the summer. The once pudgy boy had slimmed down considerably and while his geeky nature was definitely present she could admit he looked cute in his own way. She raised her brow as he looked a bit nervous.

Neville wasn't sure if he was more nervous about the odd blonde girl being in the compartment or Malfoy. But the way Angel looked amused he knew that perhaps it was definitely Angel Malfoy that was scarier.

"Oh Hello, how are you?" Luna chirped.

"M-may I please si-"

"Just sit down Longbottom. People are staring"

That was what he needed and he immediately closed the door behind him and put his things. He wasn't quite sure who the blonde was, but the way she stared at nothing was a bit daunting. Interestingly enough Angel seemed unfazed and opened a book only to start reading. Was this supposed to be the whole ride? Oh Merlin.

"Don't you remember her Longbottom? This is Luna, Luna, this is Longbottom," she murmured waving her hands towards each other and not bothering to look away from her book.

"Hello Longbottom, nice to see you again!" Luna chirped cheeks warming up.

"Neville" he interjected immediately feeling the waves of embarrassment falling on him. "Just Neville works"

"He's always a bit odd Luna, don't mind him" Angel said.

He looked affronted only to see her lip twitch in amusement. He never did understand her. But as Luna giggled and looked at Angel fondly he wondered just what went on with the two girls. Ravenclaws and Slytherin rarely interacted. Everyone knew that they had the other houses as rivals and typically ignored the rest. But as Luna began to play with Angel's hair and put flowers, he had to admit something was odder.

"Must you do this Luna?" Angel asked lifting her gaze up only to have a daisy tucked in one of her curls.

"Yes! The beauticoles feed from the sweetness of flowers! So it's most important to keep them alive"

Angel looked at Luna oddly if only for a second before shrugging and signaling her to continue. The girls had written to one another more than anyone else this summer. It seemed that while her and Pansy had gone on a break, Luna managed to weasel her way to become a trusted companion. Luna always prided herself in taking care of her friends and Angel was definitely her closest in the school. And while she might not be seen to the same merit on Angel's perspective, she didn't really mind.

"So tell me about yourself Neville? What did you do this summer? What brings you to this compartment?" Luna asked politely with a flower sticking from the top of her head.

"Um…the compartments are all full?" he said nervously, "How do you two know one another?"

"Class"

"Friendship" Luna said in a singsong tone.

Angel nodded and continued to read. It seemed that she had left the other two to make conversations on their own. It suited Luna just fine as she began to prattle along.

"How do you and Angel no one another?"

"Well.." Neville began.

Angel's brown eyes slowly moved from her book to stare a Neville as he began to explain. She didn't have to say much to make him fear her.

"She…well…really the other Malfoy…well…and Harry…and..yes" he mumbled unsure of his own answer.

Luna looked confused only to decide to take the book away from Angel to properly explain. The thing about Luna was, that while she seemed like an airhead, she was definitely interested in learning about everything. She ignored the sound of protest from Angel and looked at her patiently.

"Well Luna" she said annoyed, "Neville is constantly teased by my brother for…obvious reasons" she added pointing to Neville in general. "and he and Harry are friends"

Luna and Neville both shared a look. So it seemed both knew about what wasn't usually spoken. They supposed it was a good thing that they had one another in moments like this and to see their friends had confidants too.

"Lovely" Luna said grinning. "So he knows about the lovebugs?"

Neville looked confused only to have Angel blush and nudge Luna earning a giggle from the blonde. Nodding Luna clapped her hands and smiled even wider.

"Oh good, then we can all be friends...you will be nice right?" She asked the brunette.

Angel rolled her eyes and nodded.

"At least for the train ride. And only because my brother isn't here. Do you understand that Neville? Is that clear? The moment my brother comes back you're on your own"

"Crystal" he mumbled.

Slowly they began to chat about everything and nothing. Most of the conversation came from Luna and Neville only for Angel to interject her opinions here or there. She didn't mind staying in the background, especially as Luna was practically dancing in her seat. She knew that she had been hurt for Neville not remembering her since she harbored a crush on him from last year. Still, she was stronger than Angel gave her credit for and took advantage of the second meeting to build a proper foundation.

Neville couldn't help but notice how calm Angel looked and her sparks of humor here and there showed more of her personality. She was an interesting contrast to Luna's sweet, yet odd personality. Their chatter had earned a laugh from Angel, especially as she'd heard a bad joke from Luna. In their giggles they had failed to notice the door open. But as the door hit the wall the trio turned to see Harry and Ginny.

Immediately the compartment grew tense. No matter how warm Angel was to these two, her disdain for Ginny would never disappear. She hated the girl. In her first year she had caused the misfortune that had nearly killed her. She had caused her to deal with lots of nightmares that took a long time to heal. Her second year the girl became more insufferable and only stuck her nose at the most inopportune moments. But the biggest problem she had with Ginny, was the fact that she had her sights on Harry.

Angel wasn't insecure…at least not anymore, but the thought of having Ginny be so close to Harry and his friends and be welcomed did make her feel less-than. She could never be able to do that. She knew the girl had been after Harry since before she had met him, Harry had told her as such and at the moment as she grabbed Harry's hand…well it wasn't making her any happier. Her face sobered up and both girls glared.

Harry hadn't meant to interfere with the happiness that had happened in the compartment. Neville's voice had been the only reason he'd been okay with opening it. But the fact that Luna and Angel were there too…well that had changed everything. The first thing he noticed is that she had red flowers in her hair and Luna was putting them on. Secondly he noticed her gaze wasn't even on him but rather Ginny. Next thing he noticed where how her eyes trailed from Ginny's to Ginny's hand that was firmly grabbing his wrist. He pulled away as casually as possible and mumbled something about sitting down.

Luna made sure to move over and squeeze by Neville and dragging Ginny with her. This caused a bit of a scuffle as everyone awkwardly landed in their positions. This left Angel and Harry sitting across from the other three.

Awkwardness. This is what this was.

"Well.."

"Um…"

"Isn't it lovely outside?" Luna said smiling, the only one seemingly not caring.

"What are you doing here Malfoy?" Ginny snapped.

The other three flinched at her tone. Angel tried her best to look innocent and not show her own burning anger at this situation. Instead she grabbed her book and turned the pages nonchalantly, it was only a minute before she answered.

"I'm guess I'm sitting here"

Ginny slowly began to turn red and sputtered.

"You damn well know what I meant Malfoy. These are my friends, and what gives you the right to make them uncomfortable and-"

"Am I making you three uncomfortable?" she asked the others in a cool tone.

Neville immediately shook his head a bit unsure as to why he was nervous. Before this whole situation they had been just fine chatting amicably. Harry immediately did the same because he didn't want his girlfriend angry and Luna looked surprisingly affronted.

"I was putting flowers in her hair actually. Her hair always looks nice with red. And she is my best friend"

Angel looked at Ginny triumphantly.

"We don't want you here!" her voice got sharper. "you belong with your people and Harry" her hand once more went to grab his, "doesn't need another spy here to see what ways he can be made fun of. Now leave"

Angel considered fighting the girl right there and then, but instead she simply got up and stared down at the redhead.

"Angel please don't go! Ginny you play nice. Oh Angel please" Luna pleaded.

The boys awkwardly stayed quiet, and slowly Angel's temper was rising. Now only did Weasley come and interrupt their conversation but she was pushing her out. Before she could curse the living daylights out of her the door opened and Daphne Greengrass was there.

"Angel! I've been looking all over for you…"her voice trailed off seeing the situation.

"Did you get a compartment?" Angel snapped.

Daphne nodded confused. Satisfied Angel slammed her book shut and got up. She shuffled in front of Harry basically ignoring him, only to turn around and glare right at Ginny.

"I'm leaving now, be sure to suck the life out of this compartment Weasley, as you always do." She smirked,

"Oh Luna…get my things once we get to Hogwarts. I'm not going to get near Weasley and her germs."

Slamming the compartment door shut, she smirked hearing the shriek of annoyance from Ginny. As Daphne grabbed her hand they continued to talk.

"What were you doing in there?"

Angel sighed.

"I was talking to Lovegood before everyone else shuffled in"

"Weird"

"Absolutely. Now let's get candy and catch up" Angel suggested.

Both girls began to chat and thankfully the compartment situation was left behind them.

….

This was unexpected. Despite the history of Hogwarts and the DADA position, no one had expected a ministry worker to take the position as professor. Dolores Umbridge: the woman was stout, had a sense of uptightness about her in the way she stood. A chatty thing based on the way she prattled on into Dumbledore's ear. Her outfit was a hideous shade of pink, and she looked like those typical nans. But the thing that made Angel uneasy was her gaze.

Despite the warm sayings and need to speak about everything, there was no sincerity in her eyes. They were dead: like shark eyes. Those eyes gazed throughout the classroom and lingered longer on Harry. Or…at least Angel firmly believed in this.

The idea of her teaching made her think about what her father had said. In the moments of her being distracted by the owl, she had sworn she heard him talking about the ministry and some plans they had. It seemed that now they were coming to fruition.

"Seems you have Umbridge first period" Pansy commented looking at Angel's schedule.

Angel groaned and nodded knowing that this was definitely not going to be fun. Especially once the chatter began around her. It seemed that fifth years were now going to have OWLS meaning that they had less time for her. But the only thing that stuck out about that was that Harry was one of those fifth years. And it was hard enough not being able to really contact him because of Dumbledore, now exams were coming in their way. She couldn't be selfish though; she knew that these exams were important. She promised herself to try and meet him after the end of the day.

First day of classes signaled Angel going back to a routine. Her first period was the one she wasn't quite sure about: DADA. While Pansy had prattled on about how a woman in pink was in no way a harmful person, Angel wasn't so sure. For one thing the woman had yet to send a syllabus of any kind, the books had yet to be purchased and she was skeptical for a hideous pink woman like her could do this.

Walking into the classroom, the first thing Angel noticed was the garish thing on Professor Umbridge's head that could vaguely be called a bow. It was hideous. It was large and tilted to the side to seem fashionable. She felt a bit ill just looking at it. She wore a pink cardigan to match the colored bow and a paler pink dress. Her heels were…of course pink and she couldn't help but think that this had to be some joke. At the moment she would have taken fake-Moody over this woman.

"I wonder what her favorite color is?" Luna murmured beside her only to earn a snigger from Angel.

"Well, good morning!" She said brightly as the whole class had finally begun to settle down.

"Good morning" people mumbled.

The woman began to tut at the tone of their voices. As it they were supposed to be enthusiastic to having another new professor.

"I'm sorry I couldn't hear that. Good morning class!"

"Good Morning Professor Umbridge" The class said more of a chorus. The enthusiasm was absolutely fake, but she took it.

"Now, please put your wands away and sit up straight."

Professor Umbridge seemed to ignore the fact that many looked at her completely confused. What was defense against the dark arts without a wand? Reluctantly many put their wands away, wary of what was to come. While in their four years they had a variety of different teachers, their wands were always out and ready to fight.

"Good" she chirped, "Now..if you open your desks you will find the book designated for this class. Based on the history of this classroom, we find that the inconsistencies in teaching methods have put you behind. Next year you will have your OWLS so I plan to prepare you for such a time. Now open your books to page fifteen where you will read 'Basics for Beginners'."

As she signaled them to read, Angel looked confused at the fact that they had a book in front of them. Seriously? What was a book going to teach her to actually use a spell? She wondered if this was how the rest of the year would go. Despite her wariness she did as told and opened her book. She put on her reading glasses and began to read as if she was taking it all in, but in all honesty this was all malarkey. Her eyes went back to the book and she reread the part that simply said how to hold a wand properly. This curriculum was for fourth years?

Luna said her hand up high, and she definitely got Angel's attention. For one thing Luna's back was rod-like, with one hand forming a fist that lay firmly on her lap, the other hand was shot up straight waiting to get the attention it sought. Her blue eyes were staring straight at the professor in front of them and she barely blinked.

Angel stopped staring at the boring pages and stared at her friend who was determined to get the attention from Professor Umbridge. Slowly more students began to pay attention to the Ravenclaw and Professor Umbridge was forced to answer her.

"Are you struggling with a passage dear?" she asked, her tone overly sweet and condescending.

"No" Luna replied immediately, "but-"

"Well it's reading time. If you have any other question we can talk after class"

"Are we only going to be reading?" Luna asked completely ignoring the suggestion.

"And your name is?"

"Luna Lovegood"

"Well Miss Lovegood the purposes of this class are marked clearly on the board so-"

"Are we going to use our wands this year?" Ginny called out from the other side of the classroom.

"Students raise their hand when they speak in my class. Miss-"

"Weasley" Ginny replied her hand shooting up in annoyance.

"You will use your wand when I feel you are ready to take on such a task"

"So is that a no?" Astoria called out from the back, her hand already up in the air in annoyance.

Angel slowly raised her hand and Professor Umbridge immediately looked at her before ignoring her hand. This was not what she was expecting. Tapping her foot on the ground she refused to lower her hand. If Luna could ask questions, and Weasley, and Greengrass, she was allowed to ask too.

"If those are all the questions"

"I have a question actually" Angel said getting up from her seat, her hand still in the air before anything could be said against her. "Are we learning any defensive spells? Anything useful?" she added.

"Did I call you Miss-"

"Angel Malfoy" Angel replied coldly. "If you have time to answer the other's questions I can only hope you will answer mine"

Her chin was held high waiting for the woman to answer her damn question. There were many things she could tolerate, but being ignored…that was not going to happen.

"Miss..Malfoy are you an educator? Are you a Ministry-trained expert?"

Angel wasn't going to answer instead waited for the woman to answer her question. She crossed her arms and waited. Never in her life had she been one to say anything, but this was ridiculous.

"I see how badly things have been run in this school" Umbridge said, "you have been exposed to irresponsible wizards…especially dangerous half-breeds" she sneered.

"If you mean Professor Lupin," Angel began, "he was the most qualified of them all"

"Half-breeds should not teach" Umbridges' voice got louder, "Sit Miss Malfoy right now"

Angel refused.

"Sit or I will be forced to give you detention."

Luna grabbed Angel's arm and forcefully sat her down. Angel's gaze never wavered from the stout woman in pink. How dare she talk about Professor Remus? He was a great person and in her mind the best professor she had ever had. While before this she wouldn't have cared what others thought, the idea of putting a man like that down…this woman was not going to do. As she lifted her book back to her face she ignored the gaze of the woman. The battle was lost, but not the war, that much was for sure. This was going to be an annoying year.
