Then, as planned, Tony's Iron Suit deployed all of it's thrusters against the top of what had probably once been part of a spaceship, a large, cylindrical thing, and shoved it down on top of Thanos- which, in theory, should have squished him like a bug.
"Piece of cake, Quill," Katya heard Tony boast over comms.
"Yeah, if your goal was to piss him off-"
Suddenly a purple light sliced through the pillar Tony'd dropped on the titan, and it exploded with a yell, freeing him. He then sent the same red light he'd used on Dr. Strange on Tony, sending a flock of shrapnel that Katya swore looked like angry birds off to attack him. As Tony dodged them, flying through the debris, Peter and Katya jumped into action, Peter swinging by and slinging a smack of web across Thanos's face, which he tore off like candy floss. Katya went low, for the knees, just as Drax did the same, with their knives, somehow managing not to run into each other. They barely got a reaction out of him.
Dr. Strange lunged at him with a glowing orange saber, which managed to occupy Thanos long enough for Peter to swing by with another wad of webbing. Dr. Strange was thrown aside, but set up enough portals for Quill to use as leappads towards the Titan, where he stuck something glowing to the Titan's back. Thanos grunted with effort and tried to tear it off, but before he could Strange made another portal for Quill to fall back into, where he stuck his middle finger out at the Titan and yelled "Boom!" before falling through, just as the glowing thing exploded. Katya came at Thanos with both of her guns, but the bullets fell like pellets against the giant's armor. Growling, she re-holstered them and went for her throwing knives.
Dr. Strange started setting up portals for Peter to jump through, where he'd leap, send some sort of punch or kick in the Titan's direction, before disappearing before he could retaliate.
"Magic!" Peter cried, disappearing into another portal.
"More magic!"
"Magic with a punch!"
"Magic with a ki-'
Eventually Thanos caught him by the throat, throwing him to the floor. "Insect." he growled, before throwing Peter off into the wreckage. Oh no he didn't.
Katya made to lunge before a wall of fire sent by Tony's thrusters engulfed the area, causing Thanos to stumble back. The wizard's cloak had since wrapped itself around the Titan's fist, the one with the gauntlet, wriggling to keep it open, but the giant eventually tore it off. He seemed to absorb the fire into his gauntlet and shot it back, like a flamethrower, aiming to decimate the rest of them, before a flying piece of another spaceship-this one active- hit him with a thunk and sent him flying. The moment he hit the ground Katya unleashed a flurry of throwing stars, two of which stuck into his neck- finally, something- but was intercepted by a bald, blue woman with a long sword who planted herself between them.
"Well, well," Thanos announced, as if he'd been expecting this the entire time.
"You should have killed me." the woman growled.
"It would've been a waste of parts!"
The woman grunted and launched herself at him, getting a few good slashes in. Maybe Katya should invest in a sword. "Where's Gamorra?" The blue woman yelled, before being thrown back by Thanos.
Due to this distraction, Strange was able to envelope Thanos's gauntlet hand with glowing, orange rope, pulling him one way, whilst Peter managed to get some webbing around the other side, essentially tying Thanos down. Katya threw herself onto the Titan's back and, bracing herself against the back of his shoulders, sent a hard kick to the soft spot between the nape of the neck and the spine, which would have instantly severed the spinal cord of a normal human- but not only was there armor in the way, this creature was not a normal human, and it seemed to do nothing except make him angrier. She kept trying to kick- "go to sleep go to sleep go to sleep-" she muttered, before being grabbed by the waist and tossed aside like a ragdoll, where she hit the ground, hard, near the side where Peter was struggling to keep his webbing in place. Katya rolled back into standing position, trying to ignore the ache in her back, and sent a grappling hook which dug into the groove between the Titan's hand armor and arm armor, anchoring it, and helped Peter to pull backwards. Peter's Iron Spider legs deployed to anchor himself against the terrain, Quill flying in to shoot something blue and electric that helped Katya and Peter to restrain him. Mantis- the antennaed woman- took the chance to leap onto Thanos's head, pressing both her palms to the side of it, which must have been deploying some sort of …sleeping serum? Something that affected Thanos mentally, as he weakened momentarily.
"Is he under?!" Tony called to Mantis.
"Be quick," she cried, clearly struggling, "he is very strong."
"Parker!" Tony called, "Help! Get over here, she can't hold him much longer."
Peter glanced at Katya before leaping over to Thanos's other side. Katya sent her second grappling hook directly next to the first, struggling to keep her footing as she pulled. Peter and Tony started tugging at the gauntlet, Peter crying out in effort, as Quill flew in from who knows where and landed in front of Thanos, letting his mask down.
"Thought you'd be hard to catch," He taunted. "For the record, this was my plan." He spoke that half a little too quickly. Katya rolled her eyes, still pulling with both her grappling hooks.
"Not so strong now, huh?" Quill continued. Thanos was in a state of semi-consciousness, clearly thanks to Mantis. "Where is Gamorra?"
Thanos was unable to answer anything other than "My Gamorra…"
"No! Bullshit!" Quill yelled, "Where is she?!"
"He is in anguish," Mantis cried. Was she reading his mind?"
"Good!"
"He…He- he mourns."
"What does this monster have to mourn?!" Drax said from…somewhere, Katya was having a hard time keeping track of it all. She struggled for purchase on the ground, and her suit deployed spikes of some kind at the bottoms of her feet, like cleats, which she was surprised existed but was grateful for.
"Gamorra." The blue woman said. Quill's cocky face actually fell, and he turned to her.
"What?"
"He took her to Voromir." The blue woman said, her voice soft. "He came back with the Soul Stone. But she didn't."
Oh shit.
Tony let his mask fall. "Quill, Quill-" he tried to call the man's attention, still struggling with the gauntlet. It seemed to actually be budging. "You gotta cool it now, understand? We've almost got this thing off-"
Quill's face filled with rage and understanding as he slowly began to turn back to Thanos.
"Dont! Don't engage, we're almost there-" Tony cried.
"Tell me she's lying," Quill snarled, "Asshole! Tell me you didn't do it!"
"I…had to.." Thanos seemed to be recovering somewhat from whatever spell Mantis had put him under.
"No you didn't," Quill was on the verge of tears. "No you didn't…" He looked like he was going to leave it alone momentarily, before, with a yell, he started beating Thanos in the face with his gun.
This threw everyone off balance. Tony let go of the gauntlet to try to subdue Quill, Mantis went flying, Peter, who'd almost managed to get the Gauntlet off, lost grip and was thrown aside. All this movement from one side unhooked Katya's grappling hooks and she went flying as well, bracing herself to hit the rocks- surely she was going to break her ribs- but Peter had somehow managed to fling himself in her direction and wrap himself around her, using his Iron Spider legs to form a cage around them so they could roll to safety.
Thanos roared, throwing the rest of their counterattacks aside like flies. Tony managed to engage him with a laser sword of some kind that had materialized from his suit, as Thanos used the power of the gauntlet to pull down the moon, sending it crashing through the atmosphere and into the terrain, blasting everything and everyone aside.
