Introduction
I've had this idea for a long time, and I've even made an entire (yet vague) storyline in my head. I never wrote it down though, considering myself to not be skilled enough, but eventually I found motivation and began to write it. After getting 1.5 chapters in, however, I realized what I was going for was way too big, and it'd be more fun if I made this spin-off. However, this comes with the side effect of needing background on the lore I have in my head, and while I tried to work everything into the story, some things I'll just have to explain up here at the beginning of each chapter. For example:
Two months is the equivalent of one human year of development. For example, a 6 month old lion would be comparable to a 3yo, and a 2yo old lion would be comparable to a 12yo.
Relationships that are ambiguous in the movies/shows have been changed around in order to fit the narrative.
I've added Kopa to the story to give Simba an extra son.
I also want to mention that while I read the stories here all the time, I have not watched any of the movies or shows in a long time, so expect some characters to be cut/changed a bit in order to both fit with the story and my mental depiction of them.
Lastly, I'd like to note that this is my first time writing a story involving lemons, so any and all feedback is welcomed, and if you have an idea for how a future interaction should play out, just let me know either through a review or PM! That's all for now!

As the sun rose up over the savannah in the early hours of the morning, rays illuminated the cave, and Simba began to wake. After a yawn and a few stretches, he was up and wide awake, so he turned to the lioness lying next to him. He gave his mate a soft nudge, and she slowly began to stir. He watched her as she began the process of waking up, and once she opened her eyes, he greeted her mate with a loving smile, and she returned it. It was little moments like this that could distract him from all his worries. Make him forget any doubts in his mind that he wasn't a good leader or a good father. Make him remember why he didn't mind that she was his sister.
/~/~/~/
He first learned about his twisted bloodline after the defeat of Scar. His promotion to king meant that a lot of things needed to be cleared up, and after a long conversation with his mother, he learned that the royal family came from a long line of direct inbreeding, and that his mother, his father, and Nala's mother were triplets, meaning that Nala was both his half-sister and cousin. As if this gut punch wasn't enough, it was revealed to him that he needed to father the entire next generation, as Scar had banished all other males to prevent anyone from replacing him. Sick to his stomach, he ran away again, and by the time he returned to face the hard truth, it was too late. The pride doubted his loyalty, and the only lionesses remaining were Sarabi, Sarafina, and Nala.
Wracked with guilt after driving off the entire pride, Simba felt an obligation to ensure the continuation of Pride Rock, even if he hated the idea of mating with his three closest family members. But as the days until mating season drew closer and closer, he found the idea less and less disgusting, and even began to look forward to it on some occasions. Desperate to figure out why his feelings were going against everything that was taught to him, he began searching for answers, until he finally uncovered a secret that had been long forgotten. The founders of Pride Rock, a brother and a sister, lacked the natural instinct in most animals that drove them away from mating with family, and were in fact attracted to family instead. He discovered that this trait had been passed down through generations, and had led to the fairly linear family tree. While he still struggled to forget all the stigma against incest that he learned in the jungle, this newly found information helped him to slowly overcome these hesitations, and over time he became more and more open to the royal lifestyle. However, he still had some warming up to do.

"You know what tomorrow is, don't you?" Nala asked.
Simba said nothing, only nodding in response. According to Pride Rock tradition, the last step for a lioness to be fully mature in the eyes of the pride, she had to be "Marked by the King", typically on the day she turned 3.5 years old. Simba knew this very well, and when the three lionesses in his life showed signs of pregnancy, he even looked forward to the tradition, and having extra lionesses to mess around with. But that all changed after the birth of his cubs. As soon as he looked at his children, he hated knowing that eventually he'd have to mate them, and he resented the fact that he had looked forward to it. So he forgot about the tradition. Any time he thought about it, he'd bury it deep within his mind, trying to forget his eventual fate. It had worked for a long time, but something had changed over the past six months.
As his daughters each passed their 3rd birthdays and began to finish their development into adulthood, he couldn't help but notice how attractive they had become. Before he even knew it, the cubs that he had sworn to protect and raise became appealing adults. Despite the fact that this tradition had been carried out for generations, he didn't know if he had the heart to do it. And as the months turned into weeks and eventually days, he didn't know what to do. Nala could sense the trouble behind Simba's eyes, so she motioned for him to follow her out of the den and into a more private area.
"You know," she began, trying to rationalize the situation for him, "you impregnated your own mother. How is that more justifiable than just mating with your daughter for a tradition?"
"I- I don't know," he replied, struggling to express his feelings to his mate. "I think it might be the fact that I had to do it to ensure the survival of the pride? I'm not sure."
"You have to do this for tradition. Is that much of a difference?" she asked, calmly. She wasn't upset with her mate. In fact, she was sympathetic. She was aware that he was raised completely differently. Taught that the very basis behind the Pride Rock royal family was all wrong. Unnatural. But she knew that he needed to hear her side of things, otherwise he would never be able to justify what he needed to do over the next few days.
"Well- maybe it's because I wasn't raised with my mother. I ran off one day as a cub, and came back as an adult. It probably made the process easier for the both of us."
"I didn't have a father, yet I'm still willing to fulfill my duties, despite not having someone to show me it was acceptable."
Simba had totally forgotten that the queen had similar responsibilities, and that Nala would need to mate with Kion and Kopa to conclude their journey to adulthood as well. From this point he struggled to come up with any responses. Every time he thought he had something, he would realize his hypocrisy and stay silent. Eventually, after several failed arguments, he finally thought of a solution.
"I'll speak to my mother about this. Her father was still king at the time of her Marking, right?"
Nala nodded, and with that, he went back into the den, looking for Sarabi. Nala was happy with this solution, and she hoped that hearing a first hand perspective would convince him to go through with Kiara's Marking.

Simba scanned the den, and noticed that his mother had woken up while he was talking with Nala, and had been patiently waiting in the den, so as not to interrupt the conversation. When he saw her waiting by the entrance, he asked if she had heard what they were talking about.
"No, I didn't," she responded, "but I have a guess."
"I wish to speak with you, Mother," Simba replied, not wanting to acknowledge the fact that his worries were noticeable to his mother as well.
Silently, he walked out of the den, and his mother followed. As she walked out, she glanced at Nala, who was walking back into the den, and the two exchanged a nod. The mother and son duo walked all the way down the rock and out into the grassland below, slowly distancing themselves from the den. Once Simba was determined that they were far enough away from the den, he began to speak.
"Mother, I am worried about tomorrow. I know I've managed to forget my teachings from the jungle, and learn the ways of the Pride, but I'm not sure if I can mate with my daughter. I've watched her grow. I've raised her. I don't know if I can mark the little cub I promised the world to."
Sarabi thought about her son's words for a moment, and then began to formulate a response. "She isn't a little cub anymore though. You have to realize that she's grown as a lion, just like you. Tell me son, honestly, do you find her attractive?"
Simba hesitated for a moment. He knew his answer, he was just ashamed of it. However, he knew that in this conversation, the truth was needed. So he spoke just one word:
"Yes."
Sarabi nodded, already knowing the answer.
"So you're a true royal. There is no shame in that," she responded. Before Simba could object, she continued. "Tell me son, when did you begin to find her attractive?"
Once again, Simba wished he didn't have to answer, but he knew deep down that this conversation needed to be had.
"I started to notice a minor attraction to her shortly after her 3rd birthday. At first, I ignored it, but as the weeks passed I knew I was beginning to find her attractive, and that there was no way to escape it."
Once again, Sarabi already knew the answer. She just wanted to hear it from her son, hoping that saying his feelings aloud would help him. She had heard all she needed from him, and began to tell her story.
"You know, I felt the same way about you," she stated, much to the bewilderment of her son. "When I first birthed you, I too, thought there was no way I'd be able to mate with my son. Even at the time you disappeared, I still had these thoughts. I kept telling myself that you would grow, and eventually we'd both be ready, but I could never fully rationalize it. When you came back to us, you were nearly fully grown, and I began to realize how much you had matured. Seeing you all grown changed something within me."
She paused for a moment, just long enough for Simba to process her words, and then continued again.
"While I hate the fact that I wasn't there to watch you grow, I think it helped me accept my feelings and responsibilities. You didn't have that luxury with Kiara, or anyone else. You didn't get to see them just appear before you, all grown. You had to watch it, not noticing a change until it was too late. But if you stop thinking about Kiara as the cub she once was, and start noticing her for the lioness that she is now, you won't have any troubles."
This really got Simba to think, and he was beginning to feel more comfortable. His mother was making good points, and he was now willing to let her finish.
"While in the jungle, you were taught not to mate with two groups of people, correct?" she asked.
"Yes. I was told to never mate with family, and never mate with cubs," he responded, not knowing where this was going.
"But here," she began, "you are in fact encouraged to mate with family, but you are still told not to mate cubs. Do you know why that is?"
Simba remained silent, so she continued. "Despite how unnatural it may seem to others, we can mate with each other because family members can consent. Cubs cannot. The fact that you didn't have any sexual feelings towards your daughters until they were close to being totally mature is perfectly natural, and is in fact a great sign."
Simba was finally starting to get it. His daughters weren't cubs anymore. They were lionesses, and he needed to start treating them as such. He still had one more question, however, but he waited for his mother to conclude.
"If you had an attraction to them before they were mature, you would've been sick, and needed help. Maybe to others, our attraction to each other is a sickness, but at least we have the ability to consent."
He stayed silent for several minutes, digesting everything. Her words echoed in his ears, and he was beginning to think. Once again, he tried coming up with counter-arguments, but failed. His mother had finally broken him, and he was able to get rid of most inhibitions he had left. But there was still one thing he needed to know.
"But how did you feel, while you were maturing?" he questioned. "Did you have the same attraction to your father as he did to you? Does Kiara feel the same way about me?"
Sarabi paused, not expecting another question. But she didn't mind. In fact, she was happy that he seemed to accept his own feelings, and was now only concerned about his daughter's.
"If Kiara's feelings right now are anything similar to how I felt then you have nothing to worry about. Similarly to how you started feeling an attraction to her when she was 3, I started developing feelings for my father at 3. Of course, I had thought that my father was good looking before then, but I never really had sexual feelings for him until around my 3rd birthday. Once again, similarly to you, it was subtle at first, but I realized my feelings the more that I matured, and by time that my Marking Day had arrived, I had already been looking forward to it for a month."
This surprised Simba. He had been so focused on his own feelings that he never stopped to consider that maybe Kiara felt the same.
"You really think that she's excited for her Marking tomorrow?" Simba wondered aloud.
"I know so," she stated with confidence. "When we get back, pay attention to the way she looks at you, the way she moves around you. She's very attracted to you, and she's accepted that. All you need to do is accept the fact that you're attracted to her as well."
Simba smiled, and thanked his mother for her help. Her words had made him finally accept his role as King, and he no longer dreaded Marking Kiara. In fact, he looked forward to it.
As the pair turned around, Simba noticed that they had been walking away from Pride Rock the entire conversation, and now there was a considerable distance between them and the den. A smile crept across Simba's face as he came up with an idea. All the talk about his sexual desires and mating had him horny, and with the distance they had built up, there was plenty of privacy.
"Say," he started, turning to his mother with a big grin, "before we head back, why don't you help me practice my marking abilities."
"With pleasure," she responded.

Well I bet you all can guess where the next chapter will be going :) I hope all of you enjoyed the first chapter, and any reviews are welcome, as long as you keep it polite. This next chapter will be my first time ever writing a lemon, so if any of you wish to help with the process, just PM me and we can work it out there.
For those of you wondering what the original story was, I basically just found a way to make every single (named) lion related by blood, including the Outlanders and members of the Tree of Life. In this story, all the lions are insanely horny, so most of them attempt to mate with every single lion/lioness available. As you can see, this would be much better as a series of one-shots, rather than a story, so I modified it a bit and made this story instead. However, if there is eventually enough interest, I might write it someday. For now, however, enjoy this story, and don't be afraid to give suggestions, as I'm always down for some help!
That's all for now! I'm really proud of myself for finally publishing a story, and I hope to see you all in the next chapter! (Also I apologize if there are any errors in the story. Normally I would proofread it before publishing, but at the time of publishing this it's very late and I'm too excited to delay release. Hopefully this doesn't become a habit.)
