Katya felt herself floating through the air, the planet's gravity now fucked even further, and wondered, breifly, how long it'd take her to exit the atmosphere. Luckily a web wound around her waist before she found out, pulling her back down to safety.
"You okay?" Peter asked quickly, to which she nodded, before he leapt back up onto one of the flying pieces of rock, doing his best, from his own suspended position, to web up everyone flying through the air - "I got you! I got you- I'm sorry, I don't remember anyone's names!"
Dr. Strange seemed to have recovered pretty quickly, as he managed to send his own flying web of brightly colored orange ropes to try to detain Thanos, but Thanos was too enraged to keep down for long. The air turned a strange...reflective color? Almost like a mirror, or a heat wave (how hard had Katya hit her head?) in front of Strange, before he shattered it into a million pieces, each of those glass shards aiming towards Thanos.
What followed must have been an illusion strictly aimed towards Thanos, as he seemed mesmerized for a second before absorbing the energy of the broken mirrors the air had turned into into his gauntlet and shooting it back at Strange, who reflected it into a dozen flying pieces, though something in Thanos's face- was it confusion?- told her that he wasn't seeing what she was seeing.
Katya'd managed to crawl her way down the rock Peter'd put her on, closer to the fight, but still behind a cleft of stone. Peter landed beside her shortly after.
"You good?" She asked him, a hand on his shoulder. All he could do was nod at the moment, as he was out of breath, and swallowed.
"Yeah. I think I got everybody."
Thanos whirled around, following the pieces of mirror with his eyes, before out of nowhere- at least, to Katya- orange ropes from every direction shot out to detain him. He broke free of them easily, and grabbed Dr. Strange by the throat. "You're full of tricks, wizard." He grasped the necklace Strange wore in his fist. "Yet you never once used your greatest weapon." He crushed the necklace in his hands, realization crossing his face with disgust. "A fake." He threw Dr. Strange away like a stringless puppet.
Something blue and glowing stuck itself to Thanos's open palm, and Tony followed soon after it. "You throw another moon at me," he snarled, "And I'm gonna lose it."
"Stark."
"You know me?
Thanos nodded. "I do. You're not the only one cursed with knowledge."
"My only curse is you." Tony deployed winged missiles from his back- Katya vaguely remembered him working on the blue prints for those in his lab, what felt like ages ago, when she'd been asking for her suit- and they hit Thanos, sending up a cloud of dust. Tony didn't wait for the dust to clear before flying forward, feet first, aiming his repulsors at Thanos's chest. He managed to blast him back somewhat, before Thanos grabbed him by the head and ripped off his Iron Mask, though it was quickly replaced with a new one. Thanos sent out a blast of purple light which Tony repelled with an Iron Shield, but he was losing purchase on the ground. He flew back at Thanos, and the two men fought in a flurry, until Thanos was on his knees momentarily, Tony hovering in the air above him. Thanos touched a finger to his forehead, and it came away scarlet.
"All that..for a drop of blood." He mused, and sent an uppercut to Tony's head, flipping him backwards, and began to pummel him, punch after punch, into the ground. Katya stood- she didn't have a plan, but she couldn't just leave him there- but Peter's hand pulled her back down.
"What are you doing?" She hissed, trying to break free of his hand.
"Trying to stop you from getting killed." Came Peter's uncharacteristically serious reply.
"I can't just leave him there, I can distract him, or something-'' She glanced back worriedly, to where Thanos had kicked Tony backwards. Tony shot out two bursts of energy from his repulsors, which Thanos reflected with his nearly complete gauntlet, glowing purple. Katya could tell Tony's suit was taking a hit from absorbing the energy- it was degenerating and regenerating almost instantly, but she didn't know how long he could keep it up- until they locked arms. One of Tony's turned into a blade- that was new- and he made to stab Thanos with it, but Thanos grabbed his arm and cracked the blade off like it was made of plastic.
Katya finally tore herself from Peter's grasp and ran forward, no plan, just get Thanos away from-
Thanos used Tony's own blade to impale him in the side, forcing him to his knees. Tony grunted as he fell, Thanos grabbing Tony's head in his massive hand. "You have my respect, Stark." He let go of Tony's head and backed up a bit.
The only thing Katya could think to do was throw herself at Tony's side, trying to stem the blood that was beginning to trail out of the wound with her hands. Tony was almost too distracted by Thanos to tell she was there, and barely acknowledged her other than "You shouldn't-" he grunted in pain, "Be here. Go."
Thanos smiled in amusement. "Touching." He backed up a bit more and charged up his Gauntlet. "When I'm done, half of humanity will still be alive." He took aim. "I hope they remember you."
The next few seconds were a blur. Katya threw herself fully in front of Tony's body, as if she could shield him from whatever was about to happen, but she was pulled out of the way by webbing around her waist as Peter slung by, pulling her up with him and gathering her in his arms. "What are you doing?!" He cried. She'd never heard him sound so scared.
But Tony was still gasping in pain, and if that wound wasn't cared for soon-
"Stop!" Dr. Strange commanded from his spot off to the side. "Spare his lifeā¦and I'll give you the stone."
"No tricks." Thanos demanded.
Wordlessly, Strange held his hand out to the air, where a small green stone materialized. He plucked it from the space before him, and then cast it out, floating towards Thanos.
"Don't-!" Was all Tony could manage, but it was too late. Thanos took the stone once it neared him, and set it into the gauntlet, which glowed with the new, extra power. Thanos raised his arms victoriously for a moment, as if absorbing it himself. Which he may have been, Katya didn't know, she had to get to Tony-
But Peter'd landed them behind a rock and held her fast, both with his own arms and with the help of some webbing around her middle. Maybe if she could find a way to reach one of the daggers stationed in the ankle of her suit she could cut herself free-
Katya vaguely registered Quill coming seemingly out of nowhere again, propelled by repulsors in his shoes, shooting with both of his guns wantonly in the general direction of where Thanos stood- but before any of the shots could connect, Thanos disappeared into another portal, which instantly dematerialized.
Thanos was gone. With the time stone.
There was only one left.
Quill landed in a heap on the floor where Thanos had just been standing but scrambled up. "Where is he?!" He yelled, more to the general populace than anyone specifically. "Where'd he go?!"
Tony'd since pulled the dagger out of his side and began to cauterize his own wound- thank god, Katya thought, and stopped fighting Peter's grasp so fervently.
Quill looked to Tony wildly, his eyes begging for answers. "Did we just lose?"
Tony looked at him for a long moment, but said nothing. Instead, he turned to Strange. His voice was hollow. "Why would you do that?"
Strange swallowed. "We're in the endgame now."
