Episode 7: Dark's zone's dirty trick! Pretty Cures to the rescue!
"Saki! Breakfast!"
Saki woke and jolted her head up by the sound of her mother, off the table as saliva ran out of the side of her mouth and onto the table. Surrounded by homework and books covering the whole the desk she sat infront. She nudged her eyes as she yawned and looked at what was before her. She gave a nervous frown as she said 'oops' loudly to herself. She must have dozed off, when she pulled an all-nighter, when she was trying to do her homework. Again. Looking at the clock above her bed, she bit her lower lip in shame; 7:30. Possibly three hours ago she dozed off.
Her mother hated it when she did it; she always, and repeatedly, told her that kids needs plenty of sleep. When she first did this, she always went to school looking like a zombie. Few weeks later when she kept doing that, making it a daily routine, she looked fresher than sleeping for ten hours. The same went to her sister; well, instead of studying, she played video games all night.
Saki, ignoring the books and all the trash on the desk, fixed her hair, ran with her fingers on her neck short red hair when she saw herself on the mirror with bed head. Since she slept while studying, she didn't have to dress to her satisfaction.
As she descended alongside the stair, Saki took the opportunity to fix her white shirt, which was attached to a red wine vest, which was wrinkled and unsymmetrical. She lifted her eyebrow when she heard slashing, someone talking during the fight. Recognizing the noises, she rolled her eyes as she stepped off the last step but stopped near Kazumi's room.
As she opened the door, the first thing she saw were people in heavy shining armor, two females and two males fighting with ugly green species that were a meter taller than the humans, swinging their weapons towards the heroes. Saki approached towards her older sister and came across a black box with silver ring and the disk drive had silver ring with green shaped 'x' that stretched out at the ring, where below stood 'Xbox 360'.
"Hey Saki~"
"You're still playing that stupid game? Have you been up all night?"
"Maybe! AH! I'm dying I'm dying! Heal Morrigan Heal!"
"You're playing mom's old Xbox 360? You know we have the newest one, Xbox XXX?"(1) Saki said and pointed at the slim blue box with the same logo and that ring with green shaped 'x'. But there was no disk drive but some cards on top of it.
"Yeah, yeah I get it that the graphics are better but look at those old ones! I mean, look at the differences!" Kazumi pointed at the TV. "Imagine, people back then thought this was amazing. You're just too stupid to understand."
"Why you..." A vein appeared on the side of head. She proceeded to go back the TV, before Kazumi could react, the TV screen went black.
"Wha-?! NO! Saki! I was almost finished with the main quest!" Kazumi turns over to Saki to attempt to take back the AC adaptor with no vail.
"Well too bad! It's your own damn fault! Besides, you have training with Jigorou! "
"Heh? Why? I dun wanna!
"Well you're gonna! You've been inside for 3 days straight playing that stupid game!
"HEY! This 'stupid game' is utterly AMAZING!" Kazumi felt a tag from her feet but reacted quickly and grabbed the TV table.
"Come on, onee-chan, you are going outside after the training. Maybe visit To-nee?" Saki smirked as she knew that her sister could never resist visit her childhood friend. But Kazumi put up a different face then she usually would. Saki felt her sister loosen her grip as she could easily at that point pull her from the TV. Saki put her feet down as Kazumi landed on her knees.
"Onee-chan?"
"You're right. I have to visit Tomo to apologize." Saki wanted to ask more but a thought hit her that she might've had an argument with Tomo. Again. It was rare for them to fight, ever since they met in kindergarten years ago they had only fought twice. Saki just smiled, confident that their disagreement will end easily. Kazumi smiled back as she put her arm around her sister's neck, now grinning.
"Girls, get your butts in the kitchen!" Their mother abruptly interrupted their moment, but the sisters just grinned at each other.
Ding dong ding dong
Shizuka pulled her finger back after ringing the doorbell. Automatically, she looked around, only to see Kazumi's father's car and car garage, a reel mower on a uncut grass, probably was the children's jobs but got too lazy to do it. Shizuka heard a footstep approaching the other side the door. As the resident opened the door, Shizuka pulled a smile on her face. The girl also pulled a smile after she saw Shizuka and opened the door wider.
"Shizuka-chan!" Saki said energetic. Shizuka closed her eyes with an awkward smile; being energetic must have run in the family. "H-hello. My, how informal…a-anyways, is Fujimura-san here?" Saki stepped back to let Shizuka in.
"Yes, but Onee-chan is in the backyard." Saki gestured her to follow her as she did. She noticed that their mother was sleeping on the couch, bubble coming out from her nose as her mouth was opened. Like mother like daughter. Shizuka smiled.
"Now why on earth is sh-" Before Shizuka could continue they had already reached to the backyard. An old man stood on the middle of the backyard as Kazumi was few feet away from him, wearing her judogi. Shizuka couldn't help but stare, wondering what the heck was going on. Saki just smiled as she turned her attention to Shizuka.
"That's Jigorou (2) He's Onee-chan's judo teacher outside the school. He's been teaching her since she was four. He's teaching her to control her anger, since whenever she loses a match she'd lose it."
Kazumi ran towards Jigorou as he still stood still. She grabbed his blue judogi's collars; she put her left foot where his was and swung the other foot ahead his as she used all the strength on her foot to make him fall (3) but not avail, he was stiff as a board. Now was his turn; The old man pulled Kazumi's judogi towards him as he put his feet behind her feet and then his next feet to the same position as his hips moved to the left and the man threw Kazumi over his shoulder. Kazumi landed on the grass as she slapped her hand with a thud. (4)
Kazumi slammed her fist again on the grass as she grunted and gritted her teeth. Jigorou shook his head as he clicked with his tongue and paced around his student. Anger; the most flawed personality considering that the person wants to learn martial arts. Kazumi wasn't always angry for no reason; she'd lose her temper to Mepple and her little sister. And if someone were to harm her family and friends, she would really blow.
"Kazumi, you have to learn to control your temper!" Jigorou suddenly said.
"Anger makes you blind. If your family was to be murdered and you were to face the murderer, your emotions start to overwhelm you. Anger. Sadness. You begin to lose focus, your mind will get clouded which makes you forget all your training. As Zhuge Liang quoted;
'Those who are skilled in combat do not become angered; those who are skilled at winning do not become afraid. Thus, the wise win before they fight, while the ignorant fight to win." He lectured as Kazumi rolled her eyes.
"Yes, yes, yes, I've heard it a million times!" she hissed as she stood up and dusted off. "Do not take that tone with me, child! You have mastered nearly everything, except for the anger and finding your Neijing. (5)"
"I've been searching for my Neijing for ten years! I'm starting to doubt these methods."
"It requires patience, child, and can take up to your whole life. It can even appear out of nowhere during your daily life."
"Yukishiro-san!" Kazumi ignored her teacher and turned her attention to Shizuka and Saki, waving them. The scowl of Kazumi's teacher made Saki bit her lower lip. He seemed like he was starting to lose patience with her sister. Kazumi however ignored her as she walked with Shizuka, leaving Saki to talk to the old man. "Don't you think that was rude?"
"Jigorou is a crazy old man, believing the old Chinese ways of victory. He's been like that since grandpa met him. He had to 'train' me before the competition tomorrow. Load of cr-"
"W-w-what if you stop and try the method?" Shizuka interrupted.
"I tried that once five years ago." Kazumi averted her eyes from Shizuka. "And it failed miserably." She whispered as stared at the floor. Shizuka averted her eyes from Kazumi too while thinking of something to talk about something else.
"A-a-anyways, I was wondering if you would want to go to the mall with me? I need some school books I could not purchase last month." Shizuka awkwardly changed the topic. "Yeah...'bout that...I need to go to Tomo's place to...apologize. Maybe Saki wants go with ya?"
"Sorry, Shizuka-chan, I promised my friends to hang out with them. See ya!" With that, Saki slammed the door behind her, causing their mother to scold her, unknowingly that Saki was already gone. Kazumi turned over to her friend.
"I'm sorry, Yukishiro-san..." Shizuka took a deep breath as she closed her eyes, feeling the tears starting to form in her eyes. "Alright...we will see on Monday." Shizuka turned towards the door at the same time Kazumi extend her hand at Shizuka's arm but her hand went down instead. Before Kazumi could say anything, Shizuka was already gone.
After explaining yesterday how and why Shizuka and Kazumi got their powers yesterday, Hikari decided to go home as she literally felt dizzy during their explanation. It didn't mean though that she didn't believe them; Hikari herself had been getting flashbacks about two teenagers' girls each dressing in white and black as they posed. She felt like she had seen them before. No, she felt like she knew them as friends. Hikari knew only two; her old classmates from Junior High School. Those two magical girls had the same hair color as her old friends. Something came to her mind about the two young girls she saw transforming before her eyes. Especially on that green haired girl, her surname sounded so familiar…Yukishiro. Yukishiro. Yukishiro.
There are a lot of people in Japan that have the surname Yukishiro but Hikari only knew one person, or to be specific a girl that has that surname, besides Shizuka. Hikari snapped her head up as if she got an idea. Two possibilities for her; maybe she should… no it'd be illegal…yet her curiosity was getting to her. She took her thin blue jacket as she ran outside. Though it didn't last long as when Hikari was at the corner, she saw Shizuka stomping and kicking stones that were in her way. Somehow, Hikari hid herself, she wasn't sure why. Maybe because she was planning on spying them. But why not ask the question…? Hikari closed her eyes tightly; scolding herself. It'd be easier to ask. Hikari turned her eyes back to Shizuka. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to ask now, considering Shizuka's mood.
"Hikari-popo?" She hadn't noticed that Porun tagged along with her. She picked his cellphone up to face her. "What is it, Porun?" She asked with sweet voice, hiding her thoughts.
"Why are you following that girl-popo?"
Hikari averted her eyes from him as she tried to find anything to lie to him. But it was difficult to lie to that cute face.
"I…I was about to buy milk but…I just noticed that I didn't need it. I just happened to bump into Shizuka-san. Do you want to go home and play with Shiro-chan?" Porun bounced in his cellphone as he repeatedly said 'popo' Hikari smiled; her kitten and Porun had been playing together and became friends instantly. Though, Shiro-chan feared him but with few sniffs and withdrawn it took him few minutes to befriend him. Hikari returned where she came from, thinking of trying tomorrow.
Kazumi walked silently towards Tomo's house, not saying a word to Mepple, even though he tried to provoke her. It was making him worried when she didn't budge. She stopped when she was near Tomo's house, hesitating. What should she say? Apologize for breaking a promise with her and promise that she would spend equally time with her as she did with Shizuka or hang out with her and Shizuka. She was just afraid that she'd yell some more, jealous over their friendship. Though, Tomo was never the jealousy type but after she had broken her promise, a new personality illuminated inside her friend. She held her hand up, with her hands clenched, and knocked on the door. Few seconds passed before the door opened and a middle age woman, familiar face to Kazumi, few of her hair had gone grey and the lines between her mouths was visible.
"H-h-hello, Tainaka-san." Kazumi started to break the silence. "Kazumi-chan, you sure have grown much." Kazumi sighed; Tomo's mother didn't have good memory but remembers her life up to last year but not last week.
"Miss, you just saw me last week."
"Oh my, how clumsy of me." The woman laughed.
"A-anyways, is Tomo home?" The woman's face dropped as she looked down.
"Kazumi-chan, due to all the fuss I had forgotten to tell you..." Was she talking about the fuss between them?
"Tomo is missing." Kazumi felt her heart skip as she widened eyed. She didn't want to believe it but it was making all sense; Tomo had been skipping classes for a week and she never saw her when walking to school and back home as their homes were close to each other. Kazumi started to mutter to herself, blaming herself, thinking that Tomo had run away home because of her. She fell down to her knees as the woman caught her in her arms.
"Th-this is my fault…" Kazumi muttered as the woman tried to calm her down.
Mepple tried to call for Kazumi after visiting Tomo's house but Kazumi blocked her surroundings. She dragged her feet's back home but changed her mind, as she didn't want her family to worry about her, go to the park. She dragged her feet back home but changed her mind, as she didn't want her family to worry about her, went to the park. But she stopped when she saw a familiar shoe, scowling.
"What do you want!" Kazumi hissed.
"I'm sorry for meeting you to apologize!" Shizuka replied sarcastically as she threw her hand to the side.
"Just go away! It was a mistake to become your friend!"
"Do you think I wanted this…" Shizuka extended her hands out. "This power…?
"I never asked this! I never asked you to be my friend and I never asked you to be my partner!" Kazumi widened eyed as she stepped back few millimeters as she felt her heart skip and broken.
"Why don't you just go back to Tainaka-san since you two are sooooo close?! And don't come up with the stupid excuses like "I'm your friend too' I've been observing you two during our 'pointless' hangout!" Kazumi's anger started to boil as she snapped.
"Fine! If you want to be alone for the rest of your lives, so be it!"
"Fine!"
"Fine!"
Kazumi said the last time as she turned to her heels and fast paced without turning her back. She was stopped by a phonecall, Shizuka turned her head curiously towards Kazumi.
"Hello?" Kazumi tried to sound calm. "Kazumi-san?!"
"Aiko-san? What's wrong?" Shizuka stopped, to be sure if everything was all right, though she didn't know that Aiko. "Is Saki sick?" the girl asked frantically. "No, she was going to meet you guys." Kazumi heard Aiko tell her friend what she said before turning back to her phone. "Saki hasn't arrived and she's two hours late. It's so unlike her."
"Have you tried to call her?"
"We did, but she never picked the phone up. We are so worried that something had happened." Now Kazumi was starting to get worried. She hung Aiko up before dialing Saki's number. After few beeps, a woman voice took over as Kazumi hung up. A hit thought hit her; what if it was the same kidnapper that took Tomo away? Paranoid, she started to run but stopped when Mepple struggled.
"It's near, mepo- it's near- mepo!" with Mipple join him. Now Kazumi was getting worried that the Dark Zone had done something to her sister. She clenched her cellphone tightly in anger as she clenched her teethes as well. Kazumi looked over to Shizuka, who was still standing, befuddled, few meters from where she stood where they had their fight. Kazumi bit her lower lip, embarrassed.
"Yukishiro-san…Saki is missing and may be in serious trouble. Please, you have to help me find her…" Kazumi's tears started to form.
"Please…." Shizuka approached Kazumi who hung her head down. "I'll help you…but after that, we end our friendship." Kazumi nodded in agreement, as she muttered 'thank you'.
Saki felt woozy as her head slumped around as she heard someone telling her to wake up. The voices appeared clearer as did her vision. She jumped a little from the chair when she saw a muscular man infront of her.
"That's her?" another voice asked, behind him. "Shut up! I'm certain that it is her. I have never been wrong." The woman behind him scoffed.
"Ha! Except when you are always so arrogant and certain to take down the Pretty Cure but kept getting beaten by them." The man infront of her attacked the other man as he threw punches at her. While the two fought, an ogre would look at Saki with drool dripping down his mouth, holding a club. An orc came between them.
"Stop it, you fool! Focus on taking the Pretty Cures first before killing each other!" A deep voice cut in, there was an obvious accent in between.
"Yes, General." The unknown man answered as the cat walked away and gave a tch. (6) "I do not take any orders from unworthy. I like to work alone." The cat said calmly as it smirked.
"Have you ever taken the Pretty Cure on your own, Tomyo?" the General smirked cockily at the red cat. "I did successfully take a hostage of Cure Black's friend." Cure Black? Pretty Cure? What was going on?
"W-who are you…" Saki asked weakly. The bear approached to her. "Well, well, it is awake."
"Move away…"
The General pushed away. He suddenly smiled when he got a close and clear look at her. "How much you have grown. You will be the perfect weapon of destruction." He touched her as Saki tried to withdraw her head.
"That…creep!" Kazumi stood up, ready to jump down off the roof to take the three bad guys down but got hold down by Shizuka. "Fujimura-san, we have to plan a strategy to save Saki-san."
"Screw that, let's beat them up! No one touches my sister!" Shizuka once again had to hold her down. "How are we going to take them down?" Kazumi stopped. "We transform…"
"What?! Are you crazy?!"
"Do we have any other choice?" Kazumi asked. She was right; they couldn't just call the police, the couldn't get the authority to help them. Shizuka closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "Let's do it…"
With a flash of a light, that attracted the three guys. The General looked behind him as he nodded when a shadow climbed up the walls. Black and White jumped down the roof, but someone had grabbed their feet's, making them fall clumsily. The shadow landed perfectly on the ground as it approached them. "Haaaa, this is always my favorite part!" the light illuminated, showing a woman with cat ears attached to her red hair. She wore a bell that dinged every time she moved, wearing a hakama, shitagi, and geta. Her tail was divided black and red, two of them.
An orc, a bear woman, and a man approached them too, they stood up in battle stance. The bear extended her hand towards them as black aura circled his hand, making the Cures fall, unconsciously. "Hey, hey, can I eat them?"
"Do not leave a single trail of their existing." The Ogre smirked. Before he could bite White, two yellow stuffed animals attacked her face as she stood up. Saki widened eyed, not believing what was happening. A stuffed animal attacking a cat like creature. Two magical girls saving the day? The General cursed under his breath. The magical girls regained conscious as they stood up, holding their heads with their hands. After a thought hit them what was going on, they held their hands to attack. They extended their hands, but nothing came out of it.
"Because your feelings are unbalanced, your powers won't work-mipo!" The girls looked at each other, not knowing what they were going to say each other. Without a warning, the General, with a speed of light, punched White, but Black took the blow for to White's surprise.
"You did hurt me but…I won't ever forgive myself if you got seriously hurt. And to be honest; All these days, even though we addressed each other's surnames, I still considered you as my best friend." Black smiled at her. White hung her head.
"I'm so sorry…I've enjoyed our time together these past days too. With you, my worries have lifted from my heart, I feel easy with you and I can be myself. I am so sorry!" Tears dripped down.
"So, whaddya say, shall we kick their butts…Shizuka?" Black smiled as she extended her hand to her. "You first…Kazumi." She took her hand and nodded.
"Together we are strong!" the cried in union as they attacked them as Mepple and Mipple smiled to their ears. They first attacked the fox but the kasha appeared behind them with a staff to smack them, but Black deflected her attack. Black saw a red ball, just sitting there wondering why it was there. Thinking not anymore, she took it and threw it behind the kasha as the kasha ran after it. "Cats…so easy…" Black smiled. Saki, meanwhile, tried to untie herself, but the chair rocked and she fell backwards as everything went black.
"Black thunder!"
"White thunder!" White and black thunder struck on their hands as they hold it above their heads.
"Our beautiful souls" White spoke
"Shall crush your evil heart." Black finished. They squished the hands tightly as they continued.
"Pretty Cure Marble Screw!" the thunder increased, but the dog smirked and vanished as the duo along with The General vanished along. A clink sound would be heard as a colorful stone drops down the floor. White didn't waste any times and picked it up, exanimating it before putting it into her pouch.
Kazumi and Shizuka left Saki on the sisters 'doorstep while she was still unconscious. Kazumi was holding onto that kasha that was quiet due to the fact she was given catnip, so she was sleeping around her arms. Nagisa opened the door when she heard a knock and gasped when she saw Saki unconscious and took her in immediately. "Mom…" Saki said as she was placed on the sofa. "Rest, my dear." Nagisa ran her fingers around Saki's hair to comfort her.
"Mom…I saw…Pretty Cure…"
The kasha was tied after she woke up from the catnip, averting her eyes from the cures. "So... what are we gonna do with her?" Kazumi asked. "Should we turn her to the Queen?" Shizuka asked.
"Just…kill me already…" the kasha said. "I have nothing to live for. My fri-" the kasha couldn't finish as tears formed. "I have nothing. Everyone…has abandoned me…" Kazumi and Shizuka looked at each other, worried. Dorosu and Nugi had abandoned their companion to their dismay. But what did she mean everyone? Shizuka kneeled to the kasha's height.
"What's your name?" She asked gently. The kasha was confused when the cures was suddenly so gentle. She narrowed her eyebrows as she looked at them with stingy eye. Or…
"The name's Tomyo. I'm a kasha who take the sinners to hell and sometimes I like to…eat the corpses. I can help you to foil O-Yama-sama's plans." Tomyo smirked.
Tomyo is an OOC character of mine, her name means "Eternal Flame" Her past will be revealed of course :)
Please tell me how this chapter was please!
1. A personal joke about two things; I apologize in advance, but I think that youngsters nowadays only depend on the graphics of video games and second, I prefer my old childhood games, PlayStation 1 and 2 and original Xbox (does Xbox 360 count, I was 18 when I got it) 3rd, the way Microsoft name their console is ridiculously funny.
2. A reference to Kano Jigorou, the creator of judo.
3. Osoto – gari
4. The technique is called Tsuri – Goshi
