"Listen to what your godfather is saying, Draco." Lucius looks ready to physically harm his son.

"I don't want to be with Harry Potter." Draco scoffs when both his father and godfather look at each other. "He is a filthy peasant. He does not deserve me." Also, there is the big question as to whether Potter will agree to the mating at all. Draco wasn't exactly someone Harry liked, or even tolerated. In Harry's defense, Draco was a much worse person as a beta.

"Draco…" Lucius looks as if he is in real, physical pain at his son's insolence. "For the love of god…"

"Do you want me to get stuck in a marriage like yours and mother's?" Draco has seen what a loveless union does to a couple of people. His parents are prime examples. They hate each other so much. Considering Harry and Draco hate each other, there is a very real possibility he is going to end up recreating his parents' marriage. He shudders when he realizes that he is an omega, and will therefore be playing the Narcissa role in his ill-fated union with Harry.

"Yes!" Lucius knows he is miserable, and Narcissa isn't exactly the poster child for happiness, even before their unholy mating. Still, better than what Severus went through. Better than death. Lucius is not going to lose Draco because the stupid, insolent child is too disobedient to marry beneath his station.

Draco is worth more to Lucius alive.

"Look," Severus will do and say anything to save Draco's life, and to a lesser degree, spare Lily's bastard son the physical and mental anguish Severus has been living with for what seems like eons. "If you love me, at all, you will meet with the…." He makes a distasteful face, "alpha, and hear what he has to say."

"I know what Potter is going to say," Draco says, annoyed at the very thought of the boy he went to school with for four, insufferable years. He was selfless and nice and refused to resort to Draco's level. Draco hates him so much. Considering Harry's attitude toward him, he hated Draco much more.

"He is willing to give you a chance." Severus pleads with the boy. "Please, don't kill yourself."

"Him?" Draco stands, outraged. "Give me a chance?" He gestures to himself. As terrible as he is as a person, he is a lovely vision. Lucius understands where the boy is coming from. He is a beautiful omega, nobody could deny his undeniable allure. For a brief moment, Lucius wishes he could have the boy for himself, and even considers it, but disregards the thought for now.

Snape, who knows what Lucius is thinking considering how he is looking at Draco, gives his "friend" a poisonous look. Touch him and die, his gaze says to Lucius who narrows his eyes in response. Draco remains oblivious to the exchange.

"Yes," Severus knows trying to appeal to Draco's ego is useless, he must use another approach. "It could be a lot worse." Somewhere in that arrogant fool, is a practical boy.

"How?" Draco and Lucius say together.

"He is not…" Severus finds Harry incredibly ugly because he reminds him of James, the bane of his existence, even in death.

His godfather looks as if he needs help, so Draco obliges. "He is not ugly."

Harry's looks were never the problem. It was his righteous attitude and inability to let things go; his incorruptible moral attitude and his lack of bending the rules. He was a terror as a teaching assistant and refused to succumb to bribes. Considering Draco's net worth, he could have given the bribe of the century, but Harry failed people for not having perfect assignments. People who were Draco's friends, and needed good grades to go to prestigious grad schools to make their mummies and daddies happy.

Harry was gorgeous, however, with tousled hair, and sharp eyes. He had presented earlier than Draco who was busy fucking every girl on campus, alpha, omega, and beta alike. Harry was hot enough that Draco made an exception for him, but it was a no-go. Harry had refused Draco's advances. Draco at first thought that Harry was stupid enough to wait for his omega, but Ginny fucking Weasley had something Draco Malfoy did not. Harry Potter was the only person who refused Draco's advances.

Draco smirks. The dumb boy grew up and is a sensible man. Harry is going to bed Draco, even if it is to assuage his insane moral compass.

"He isn't?" Lucius asks and frowns when Severus elbows him harshly. "He isn't."

"And he is smart." Draco paces back and forth, "Even back then." It was just one more thing Draco found infuriating about Potter. The ridiculous intellect.

"There you go!" Lucius is an excellent manipulator, and if he needs to gaslight Draco to save his useful life, so be it. "You like him, and you are going to be an adequate mate for the poor peasant boy." He claps his hands together, "I am going to plan a wedding, oh…" Lucius braces himself against a pillar. "I will just let your mother do it." Lucius doesn't care for this wedding at all, why bother?

"I am so proud of you." Severus lets his gaze soften after Lucius departs, possibly to negotiate a murder-suicide pact with his wife.

"I will meet him," Draco sits back down. "I didn't say I am going to go through with this mating," He says faintly, "Mating." This isn't a roll in the hay. It's a marriage bond, permanent and ever-lasting. This means no matter how miserable Harry and Draco make each other, they will not be able to let each other go once they mark each other.

"If he ever hurts you," Severus promises, his tone unwavering, "I will kill him, so painfully, he won't know what hit him."

"Yes he will, he aced your classes. He was your teaching assistant." Draco lights up, making Severus feel better emotionally. He is always in constant physical pain due to the tethers of his withered, dead bond with Lily. Something he doesn't even wish on the Potter brat. The funny thing is he feels that bond, even now, in Lily's death. He feels her, and his soul aches for her. He spends hours by her grave, hoping one day he can join her. Maybe they will be reunited in death because life just wasn't for them.

"Hey," Draco gazes at his godfather with concern, "You okay?"

"No," Severus doesn't bother lying to the one person he has left. "I am not, and you won't be either if you say no." He holds up a hand when Draco starts to protest. Draco knows Severus was rejected by an omega, but he doesn't know who it was. Severus never told anyone. "Harry Potter is a good person."

He loathes to admit it, but James' brat would never hurt Draco. Harry was the kind of fool who reported himself to his professors for plagiarism, even accidental plagiarism. He was a terror to all his students as a teaching assistant. Snape doesn't let himself smile at the memory but watching Harry chastise clumsy undergraduate students was his greatest joy. Snape picked Harry as his TA time and time again and was kind of upset when the brat graduated and chose medical school instead of a professorship. Trust James' DNA to kick in just as Snape got himself a worthy protégé.

"I know," Draco remembers Harry ignoring all his jests. He even walked Draco home one night when he was lost and couldn't find his way back from a particularly trashy party. "He is a good man." He never gave Draco any extra grades but always offered to tutor him. Draco never took Harry up on it because he wasn't trying to fucking learn something. He is a Malfoy and is owed everything in life, including good grades.

"He is studying to be a doctor." Severus tries to build Harry up in his head. "He is responsible."

"His godfathers raised him well." Draco can't help but smile fondly. The only person who ever cared about Draco was his godfather and it seems Harry is no different.

Severus can't help but nod. Sirius and Remus are the only alpha and omega pairing he knows who are happy with their union. Maybe their sickeningly saccharine happiness will rub off on Harry and Draco's ill-fated bond.

"He hates me." Draco was horrible to Harry. He regrets what he did, but in his defense, he was young and mostly drunk and high. While students like Harry and his fellow scholarship friends earned their way into the top university in the country, Draco got in because of his family connections. He didn't care enough for grades, his friends, or anyone. He was trying to have a good time before his father sold him to the highest bidder.

Draco thought he was a beta, and surely father would find a rich beta girl to bond him with. He presented in his final year. Just as he was ready to achieve freedom forever, it slipped through his fingers. He was whisked back to his mansion, vanished from the public eye. Narcissa had a field day, realizing she could abuse Draco without repercussions.

Draco hoped for an alpha woman because he used to think he was straight, having slept with many girls in university, he is comfortable with the female gender. Women are thought to be less rough to their omegas. However, alpha females are rare, so Draco prepared himself to be dominated, and roughed up by some caveman. He prepared himself for rape, forced pregnancies, and beatings.

With Harry Potter… Draco's soul lights up at the thought of him. With Harry Potter, Draco is guaranteed personal dignity and respect. He is guaranteed he won't be touched without consent. Hell, he will be free as a bird, even freer than a beta. "It will be okay." He grabs Severus' hand, more for his godfather's comfort than his own. "He won't hurt me."

"No, he won't." Despite being an alpha male, Harry Potter is sophisticated. Severus makes a face because his mind just complimented the boy. Lily chose James because he was worth dying for. Harry has all of those qualities and then some. "And if he does…"

"You will kill him," Draco smiles for real this time. "Is it bad I am hoping he smacks me around a little just so I can enjoy watching you beat him?"

"Don't even joke about that." Severus scolds Draco, his grip tight on Draco's dainty hand. "Please." He tries not to sound frightened for Draco. He had prayed for his godson's safety and prayed for a good alpha for his beloved Draco. It seems the gods have listened, but Harry is still, at the end of the day, alpha, and the dominant gender tends to be unhinged. "Be careful."

"I will." Draco knows if something happens to him, Severus will give up on life altogether. "I won't let him name our child James." He jokes. Harry may accept Draco to save his life but he would never conceive a child with him. Draco doesn't know the story behind Severus' rejection, but he understands his godfather's hatred for the Potter name. It's why Draco bullied Harry so much. He was a stupid, drunk kid and he was trying to avenge and impress his godfather.

Severus tries to hide his disgust at the thought of Harry Potter impregnating his precious godson. He fails.
