"I want gold." Narcissa snaps at the wedding planner. "Do you understand me? Gold."
"There is no need to yell." Remus tries to stop Narcissa, but as Sirius had warned him, the drunker she is, the more unstoppable and hysterical she gets. Narcissa is a notoriously mean drunk. She is even scarier when high. It's a catastrophe when she is both.
"What did I tell you about speaking?" Narcissa snaps at Remus.
"Mother please," Draco understands his mother's need to disrespect her son, but not so much other people. No need to take it out on unsuspecting bystanders.
"Harry would like a simple wedding." Remus isn't deterred by Narcissa's attitude. Unfortunately, his association with Sirius means Remus has had to come in contact with the toxic family.
"I don't care what Harry wants." Narcissa cocks her head to the side, and uses a sarcastic tone. "And what did I say about talking?"
"I care what Harry wants." Remus is here to make sure his boy doesn't get a gaudy wedding. "And we don't need gold trims on our plates, chairs, or walls."
"I…" Narcissa places a manicured hand on her forehead and massages it as if faced with the most unreasonable man on the planet. "I realize that when Sirius got saddled with someone lower in station, we would have problems, but this is truly unforeseen."
"Mother," Draco warns, "Shut up."
"I hope that's the alcohol talking young man," Narcissa smashes the sample plate she was overlooking, breaking it into a hundred pieces.
The wedding planner sobs. "That was an antique."
"I don't fucking care, charge me for it," Narcissa calls out before she storms off, to drink some more, to inject something, possibly to take another pill. Draco doesn't know or care. The best thing about this marriage fiasco is that he never has to see her again.
"You know," Remus turns to Draco, who is trying to finish his third drink, and takes the glass from him, "Pacing yourself is something your mother hasn't modeled for you, but it's a good skill to learn." Malfoys and Blacks have a long family history of alcoholism, drug addiction, and of course, nymphomania. Now that Remus is getting another son, maybe he should work on curtailing and possibly putting a stop to these substance abuse issues.
Draco lets Remus take the glass. He is disappointed that he needs to tolerate yet another bossy omega trying to run his life. He has had enough of that from his mother.
Alphas worship their mothers, and while Lily is deceased, Remus has taken her place. It is clear from Harry's attitude that Remus' opinion means more to him than anyone else's. As far as Harry is concerned, Remus hung the moon and the stars, cured cancer, and had enough time to make the idyllic home for Sirius and Harry.
"You can disagree with some of her choices, you know." Remus is unaware of Draco's inner dialogue. "She is insane, but you have to stand up to her."
"Why bother?" Draco wonders aloud, a little buzzed. "I am out of here in a few weeks. I don't have to care or think about Lucius or Narcissa ever again."
"That is true." Remus nods agreeably. "Now you have to deal with me." He jokes.
Oh yes. Draco has heard horror stories about omegas being catty to each other when sharing space. He used to pray for his future wife, considering she would have Narcissa to deal with. He promised himself that he would take his wife and disappear with her, ensuring that she was free of his abusive parents.
Harry doesn't seem ready to move out at all. He still has a couple of years left of medical school. He is also completely emotionally dependent on his godparents who seem to coddle him every chance they get and then some. Draco can already see his fate. Harry will continue to live a luxurious bachelor-type lifestyle while simultaneously being attached to Draco who will end up being a live-in maid and sex toy. Draco doesn't mind being Harry's sex toy, it's the absolute subservience he has a problem with.
Draco's parents may be abusive psychopaths, but his luxurious lifestyle is worth it. There is no way Harry's strict godfathers will give Draco any of the extravagances he is used to so he might as well say goodbye right now. It's why he doesn't mind the overly excessive wedding. It may just be his last chance to feel rich. He wonders in what way Remus will torture him. However, considering Draco has spent his life with Narcissa, he is well-prepared.
There is nothing Remus can do which can hurt Draco worse than everything Narcissa has done. Over the years, since Draco has presented, the abuse has escalated. Harry is a prince, but Draco is eager to leave his house, period. Even a sub-par alpha would have been acceptable over Lucius and Narcissa's daily abuse.
Nothing Remus can do to him could compare to what Narcissa has been doing to Draco for years. It took him more than two decades to realize that his mother's behaviour is not normal. That parents don't treat their children so cruelly. It took even longer for Draco to stop doing it to other people. Old habits die hard and it's even harder when there are no positive role models to rely on. His parents are deranged, and Severus has been checked out long ago due to extreme pain and emotional issues. Draco is truly and utterly alone.
Remus squints at Draco, intuitively reading his body language. He can tell Draco is a little nervous, he is not sure why. "Something bothering you, son?"
"No, drinking makes me anxious." Is Draco's partially true response.
"Well," Remus stands to go look for Narcissa just as the wedding planner gathers her things and runs out of the room, crying a little because Mrs. Malfoy was extra cruel today. "You can talk to me."
Remus suspects Narcissa has passed out, and he is free to go home for the day and be free of this wedding planning mess until it starts all over again. Typically wedding planning for important families is done months, even years in advance, but Harry had insisted he wanted to get this over with, and Draco had only agreed because he wants to rip the band-aid off.
"Wait," Draco is alone with Remus, so he might as well try. "Can I ask you a question?"
"Sure," Remus smiles amiably. "You don't need the sex talk, do you?" He laughs, wondering if it's okay to joke with Draco. The only thing Sirius had to say about the blond boy is that he is spoiled and kind of rude. Remus can work with both of those. Frankly, Sirius is also kind of spoiled and rude. Being with him feels like being with royalty, but Remus suspects that's more because of his love and worship for Sirius and not because the Black family member is nobility.
"Um, yeah," Draco is drunk enough for this conversation, sure. "I need to ask some questions about sex."
"Oh dear," Remus sits back down. "Aren't you the experienced one?" Remus guesses because considering how beautiful and rich Draco is, he must have men and women throwing themselves at him left and right.
"Not with men, no." Draco got the courage to have sex with a man once, and then Harry decided to be an insufferable idiot.
"Go on," Remus faintly encourages Draco to continue. "They cover this in schools." He is fairly certain. He has no idea what goes on in school considering Harry has been out of junior high for eons now, and Remus much longer. Boy, he is feeling his age.
"I know what goes where." Draco would feel embarrassed, but he knows Remus is not going to like him anyway, considering Draco is stealing his precious boy away from him. Why bother trying to impress him.
"And?" Remus stares at the beautiful boy, glowing in the afternoon light. "Harry's instincts will take over. Trust me." Remus tries not to blush remembering his wedding night. Sirius was an animal.
"Okay," Draco feels himself heat up. "I get that he knows what to do. What am I supposed to do?"
Sirius feels even redder. "Uh, well." He tries to remember back to his first time. Sirius knew exactly what needed to be done, and Remus knew exactly what was expected of him. "Your instincts will also take over." This isn't a friend with who Remus can speak openly and crassly. This is a young man who is marrying the young man Remus raised as his own. "It will be very romantic." He assures. Of course, it's easier when two people love each other and want each other as much as Sirius and Remus, but then again, alpha and omega bonds aren't always based on love. There is physical compatibility involved. Remus knows he is perfect for Sirius. Their bodies just fit together flawlessly, no matter the position, the time of day, or their moods. They just belong together.
"So," Draco is more confused than ever. "Romantic, right." Remus and Sirius fell in love before they discovered they were mates. They don't understand the plight of the rest of the ninety-nine point nine percent of the couples who are mates. They don't understand that Harry will never love Draco. He just has an insane need to save anyone and everyone, including Draco who he dislikes from his inner core.
"Look," Remus clears his throat, "I can't speak for you and Harry but every couple is different, and the chemistry is different. I do know that Harry would rather die than make you feel uncomfortable. I raised him better than that."
"Alright," Draco thought that speaking to another omega would help. His mother is useless in that department, simply telling Draco to lay on his back and spread his legs, and give the alpha everything he needs because it is Draco's sacred duty as an omega. The scary thing is, Draco needs to please Harry in bed because that's just about the only thing he can offer Harry which is of value to the alpha. Harry doesn't care that Draco is rich or beautiful. He does not and will not ever love Draco. He is just going through with this wedding to save Draco's life.
Draco needs to make sure that Harry gets something in return. Even if it is just physical pleasure.
Remus can see that Draco is afraid again. He thinks it's because the young omega is concerned about his wedding night. Remus finds it endearing that the boy wants to please his husband so much. It reminds him of himself at that age, worried about what Sirius will think of him, and if he is good enough. Being an omega is a tricky business. Despite all their years together, Remus still doesn't think he is good enough for Sirius.
"Look," How is Remus supposed to explain to Draco that come the wedding night, Harry will devour Draco. It's just how mating works. "Here it goes," He braces himself for discomfort, but supporting Draco is more important than avoiding an awkward conversation. Having kids means putting their priorities above one's own. "It is much easier to please the alpha." God knows when horny Sirius doesn't care about anything besides being inside Remus.
"I know," Draco remembers his mother's annoying words and thinks Remus is going to say the same. "I have to close my eyes and think of the Queen and let him do what he needs to do."
Remus suddenly understands why Narcissa is always in such a bad mood. She has possibly never had an orgasm, considering how terribly uninterested Lucius is in her needs. "No," He tries not to sound as mortified as he feels. "Your desires matter just as much as Harry's. You are just harder to satisfy."
Draco blinks innocently, looking even younger and more uninformed. "Why?"
"You just are." This is where Remus draws the line or his face will explode. "Harry has to try and make you happy." He stands up because he can't stand any more of this. "Good talk see you tomorrow."
"See you tomorrow." Draco wishes he and Harry could just elope already. This wedding business is starting to make Draco want to run away and die in peace, by himself.
