Bella's Point of View

Emmett's house was even more extravagant on the inside. Very sleek and modern, yet still presented as comfortable and warm. I might even have felt at ease here, if not for the room of vampires, staring at me, expressionless and silent. They stood completely still, like a group of beautiful statues. They didn't even blink. It was strikingly clear that they weren't normal. I couldn't even detect any of them taking a breath. The only comfort was Emmett's big hand, wrapped around mine. Cold and smooth. It was becoming more and more familiar to me.

"I respect your wishes, both of you. I'll do everything in my power to keep you and the fetus safe." Carlisle said carefully. His eyes flashed back and forth between Emmett and me. It was clear he was slightly uncomfortable. Well maybe uncomfortable wasn't the right word. He seemed pensive and concerned.

"Thanks Carlisle, I know this may be asking a lot of you. But this is something Bella feels really strong about. She believes that she can handle this pregnancy and I will put my faith in her." Emmett nodded.

My heart skipped a beat for a second. A smiled brightly, making eye contact with him. His lips twitched, but he remained somber. I knew he was nervous about this decision. He was just as scared as I was. But with his support, I know I can do this.

"I do have some concerns, regarding Charlie." Carlisle continued.

My heart dropped as realization set in. I didn't even think of how Charlie was going to react to this news. He was going to freak out. What if he kicks me out? No. Charlie wouldn't do something like that. He would be disappointed. Which might be even worse, than if he was just angry with me. I didn't want to let him down or add any stress to his life.

"Her condition is very unpredictable; she should be monitored closely. We still don't know how the fetus is going to affect her day-to-day life. Or how fast this is going to progress." Edward spoke up.

Emmett cleared his throat. "I planned on watching over her every second of every day. I'll be there until Charlie tells me to leave. Then just hang out in her room for the remainder of the night."

I raised a brow. "Wouldn't you want to go home and sleep a little? We do have school."

A smirk came to his face. "I don't sleep."

"You don't sleep?" I repeated. "Ever?"

A few of the others exchanged amused glances but didn't comment.

With a chuckle he replied in humor. "No, not at all."

"But you will need to hunt, her blood may not tempt you, but you don't want to go too long without hunting, if not, you may struggle going to school." Jasper said from his place on the other side of the room. He stood rigidly. Mostly turned away from me. His jaw was clenched tightly. Alice stood in front of him, composed, but she kept her sights on him.

Emmett did as well. But not with any signs of hostility. Just attentiveness. He was fully on guard.

"Well, I guess I could switch off with someone, just long enough for me to hunt, then come right back." Emmett said, glancing around the room. "If anyone is willing…"

Edward nodded to him. "All of us are more than willing to help. Whatever you're comfortable with."

Emmett narrowed his eyes slightly at him, but he straightened his shoulders and looked to Alice with a hopeful gaze. "How about it shortie? Will you look after her for me on those days I need to step out for a hunt?"

Alice's face brightened. "Of course, it would be my pleasure."

"So, how are we going to avoid getting Charlie swept into this?" Edward asked quietly, his brows pulled together with a frustrated look.

"You mean I can't tell him about it?" I asked with a frown. "I mean, it's understandable that you feel that way. In regard to your secret. I get it. But Charlie is a cop, he notices everything. He'll notice me getting bigger."

"Charlie deserves the right to know, this would be his grandchild." Esme spoke up for the first time. Unlike the others she kept a warm and joyful expression on her face. She kept watching me, her eyes lingered around my stomach. It was a comfort to know that she had our blessing. She was the first to pull Emmett into a hug and congratulate the both of us. The others had a very different reaction. They were so caught up in the dangers of this pregnancy that they didn't have many positive remarks to offer us.

"That's very true, but it's hard to predict how this pregnancy is going to progress. Today Bella is measuring closer to fifteen weeks. And the point of conception was only two weeks ago." Carlisle said, looking at me with mild fascination.

"Maybe we can create a little story, something solid that Charlie can believe. Something that will allow us more of an estimated window, before Bella gives birth." Edward said, rubbing his chin slowly. "Slowly build on the narrative that Bella and Emmett had met earlier than Charlie was aware of. And had an intimate encounter."

"How could we casually bring that up in conversation?" Emmett scoffed. "Hey Charlie, I impregnated your daughter a few months ago, before she ever arrived in Forks."

I gave Emmett a look. My cheeks warmed, the embarrassment made me hang my head, in an attempt to hide it. From across the room Jasper tensed. Swiftly I watched as he turned and stormed out of the room, slamming the door shut hard behind him. Alice remained with an apologetic look.

Edward pinched the bridge of his nose, appearing irate. "I was going to suggest that perhaps the two of you could sit down to dinner with Charlie. I'm sure he will have a lot of questions for you, Emmett. He will want to know who you are. So, while getting to know each other, mention a trip to Arizona. Bring up meeting her. You don't have to go into detail on anything of sexual nature or a timeframe." He looked at me now. "When Emmett leaves, I can guarantee Charlie will want to know the nature of your relationship. And if you are comfortable with it, give him at least a small hint of the physical connection between the two of you."

I had to admit, Edward's plan sounded like it would be the best bet. There was an amount of time that Rene had left me home alone over a weekend.

"That could work, just don't give any exact timeframe on when the intimacy took place." Carlisle said with a small smile in my direction. Then a thankful nod to Edward.

I nodded, leaning more into Emmett's side, I was starting to feel a little tired. I didn't know if it was because of all the tense conversations I've had today, or if it was just another sign of pregnancy that I would be getting used to. For who knows how long.

Emmett seemed to notice, his golden eyes scanned over my face, before turning back to his family. "I think that's enough for today. We can go over the finer details later. I think it's time for us to get going."

"Alright, I'll just be a phone call away if you need anything." Carlisle said looking at the both of us. "I'd like to see you again on Monday Bella. We will have to monitor your pregnancy closely."

"Okay, thanks, I really appreciate it." I nodded timidly.

"You're a part of our family now Bella and we are delighted to have you… and your child." Esme added with a pleased smile.

Emmett stood up, carefully helping me to my feet. The intense stare he had in my direction made my heart flutter in my chest. He still looked worried. I wondered what he thought of all of this. Was this all too much for him? Was it not worth all the stress? Maybe I was more than he bargained for. We had a lot to talk about once we had some privacy.

As we walked to the door, Alice danced over to stop us. She and Emmett locked eyes for a minute. He gave her one sharp nod. Alice grinned, bouncing to me. She threw her arms around me, hugging me lightly. The embrace was so gentle, it was like being wrapped in a thin blanket.

I was taken off guard, but hesitantly I hugged her back.

"We are here for you Bella, no matter what you choose, remember that." She said quietly.

Her words brought on a wave of emotion. Tears filled my eyes as I hugged her a little tighter. I hadn't expected his family to be so accepting and supportive of my decision. I knew there was a lot of resistance when Emmett and I first arrived at the house. They tried to convince me that terminating the pregnancy was the only option. But the Cullens quickly learned I was a stubborn person. They knew I wasn't going to change my mind on this. But instead of them turning their backs on me and rejecting me, they only offered their support. I will never forget this day.

I found a new family. And learned that I would soon have a small family of my own. Me, Emmett and our baby.

"Thank you, Alice," I whispered back.

As we pulled apart, I took note of Edward now lingering by Emmett. They spoke so quietly I couldn't hear them. Emmett tensely nodded, not replying too much to whatever Edward was saying. But I could tell whatever it was, Emmett was now rattled.

He walked me back to his Jeep with his hand at the middle of my back. I peeked at him worriedly. As we pulled out of the driveway silence fell over us. I waited, hoping he would say something. Anything. But he sat there, still as a statue, his hands rigidly ripping the wheel. His eyes scanned the area as he drove. He seemed to be on high alert. My growing anxiety made me shift uncomfortably in my seat.

"What did Edward say?" I said, finally unable to hold it back anymore.

Emmett didn't look at me, he seemed completely consumed in his thoughts.

"Emmett," I said again, a little louder.

He flinched, glancing at me for a second. "It's nothing,"

"It sure doesn't seem like nothing. You aren't lying to me, are you?"

"Bella, I really don't want to get into it. I don't want to stress you out. It's not good for the baby. Things are stressful enough, not to add anything more to your plate." He reached over, taking my hand. His fingers gently rolled across mine. Cold but calming.

"I think the fact of being kept in the dark about something is more stressful than anything. Come on," I sighed, giving him a pleading look. "Be honest with me. I can handle it."

Emmett looked away from me again, letting out one long breath. "Alright," Reluctance was evident in his shift in demeanor. "It could be nothing, but there is talk of some other vampires. Not in our area yet but heading in this direction. Slowly. Alice has been keeping her eyes on them."

"Why is this something to worry about?" I chewed my lip.

"Just like humans, some vampires aren't good. We don't know if they will be a threat or not. The likelihood of them having a different choice of prey is pretty high."

I already knew what he was referring to. Emmett mentioned briefly that he and his family only drank the blood of animals. It wasn't a popular method to satisfy the thirst of vampires. But it was the most moral. But most other vampires he has come into contact with drink from humans.

I nodded, letting his words sink in. "But it's going to be fine right? If they do end up coming here, maybe we can reason with them?"

"Maybe, or maybe they will just be bloodthirsty monsters. Either way, I'll protect you." His voice was completely serious. But for a moment he cracked a smile, chuckling quietly.

I raised a brow. "What's so funny?"

"In the past I wouldn't have been concerned about a bunch of vampires heading this way. I'd be excited. I'd want to fight them. And prove myself. Prove that I'll always be the strongest. And I do love to fight," He shrugged his shoulders. "But with you in the picture it's different. The last thing I want is for you to be around something like that. Your safety is what matters above it all. You and the baby."

I couldn't help but smile. It sounds like he is really coming around to this baby. He wanted to protect the both of us. I just hope when we do tell Charlie about it, he will come around to this as well.

"I'm sorry, it sounds like I've really put a damper on your life. With Rosalie, and now a baby. Everything is changing so quickly. I'm sure it's a lot on your mind."

"Never apologize for something like that. Every hardship I go through is worth it. I've never been so happy and terrified in my existence." His topaz eyes flickered over to me. "When you become a vampire, everything kind of… goes still. The world keeps turning, time keeps going forward, but you don't. I was stuck in one spot for a really long time. And I didn't even notice how miserable I was. There were distractions that kept me entertained. But nothing gave my life purpose. Not until you."

I swallowed hard as I gazed into his eyes. Butterflies bounced around my stomach. He leaned in, capturing me in a tender kiss that left me dizzy and craving more. We pulled into my driveway; our lips still locked in a passionate kiss. Raging hormones and with quick hands I unbuckled myself and moved towards him. His arms came around me, pulling me into his lap.

I straddled him, letting my hands run through his dark hair. His lips trailed cold kisses down my neck, before returning to my lips. Hunger and tenderness. Urgency and restraint. I could feel a growl vibrating in his chest. Something closer to the sound of a purr.

We broke apart for me to breathe, my forehead rested against his as I tried to catch my breath. He smirked at me, stroking my cheek. "Easy little rabbit, you've jumped into a bear's lap."

I let out a breathless laugh. "Not the smartest rabbit,"

His smirk widened. "What a selfish bear," He slowly pressed his lips to mine again.

The passion, the desire for more, the overwhelming rush I felt, had completely taken over. Emmett carried me to the house, never letting our lips part for more than a few seconds. He walked us up the stairs and into my room. Softly he laid me onto the bed, before crawling over top of me. Carefully he held up all his weight off of me.

I arched my back as his kisses traveled down to my chest. Without another thought I quickly began taking my clothes off. Pausing only for a second to watch his reaction. He eyed me with desire, doing the same. First his top, he whipped it to the floor, revealing his perfect muscular body. He leaned up on his knees, unhooking the belt to his jeans.

I nervously took a few deep breaths as I unclasped my bra. I let it slowly roll down until I was completely exposed. His eyes roamed me for a moment, as if memorizing every curve.

"You are beautiful," He commented, reaching his hand out hesitantly to cup my breast. His hand was so big, I felt a pinch of self-consciousness at how average the size of my breasts was. But the look on his face chased those feelings away. His thumb lightly flicked my nipple. Pleasure traveled through my body as if he had just flipped on a switch.

I laid down, pulling him along with me. But he quickly flipped us, so I was on top of him. He watched me, his hands exploring every inch of my skin. "I'd rather have you on top. In case I hurt the baby."

My heart squeezed at his words, I leaned down kissing him, letting my hands roll along his muscular chest. I was struck with surprise. I couldn't believe I would ever be in this situation again. Naked with a man, that was way out of my league. He was so perfect. I didn't feel worthy. My face warmed as I felt his hand at my backside.

"Are you up for… doing this again?" He asked, his eyes looked a little darker. His jaw was clenched. He was keeping himself under control. Not jumping to the conclusion that I wanted to have sex. But I could see him visibly struggling to resist. His body was hard, I felt his erect between my thighs.

I nodded, slowly rolling myself back and forth against him. "Take me,"

My words barely tumbled past my lips before Emmett ripped my underwear completely off me. His motions were a bit more hustled, frantic to satisfy. I lifted myself to get a good angel, before sliding myself down onto his shaft. My body trembled in pleasure, just at the feeling of him being inside of me.

He started slowly, thrusting up and at the same time I bounced down. A growl rumbled through his chest; he tilted his head back in delight. Arousal bounced between us, the look of pleasure I was bringing him, offered me some confidence. I quickened the pace. His hands adjusted to resting on my hips as he helped me match his bucking.

I moaned lightly, letting my eyes close. Something animalistic and passionate took over. We slowed back down. His hands slid down my back tenderly. Our lips met again. There was devotion and compassion with every touch. It wasn't just sex. For a moment we were one, intertwined. Breathing as one. Everything else in the world disappeared

Enjoying every second. There was no race to the finish line. We explored our bodies. We found out things that we liked. And when I got tired, Emmett took over completely. The pleasure never stopped. I didn't know how much more my body could take. We reached a climax at the same time. He jerked his hips a bit harder, forcing himself inside me as deeply as he could. My toes curled as I let out a groan. My body quivered as I rode the waves of ecstasy.

A look of gratification crossed his face. We both were quiet for a moment. Just the sounds of our heavy breathing could be heard. But not for long. We continued to make love for hours. It was nonstop and I was in my glory. I thought the sex was good the first time, but he had been holding back before. That much was clear. I don't think I'd ever want this to stop. But eventually I just lost all the stamina I had. I needed to take a break. My body was beginning to cramp, I've used more muscles than I've ever used. Not to mention I was starting to get thirsty.

I curled myself into Emmett's side, both of us still naked under the bed sheets. "Looks like the bed survived this time."

Emmett snickered, wrapping his arm around me, his other hand softly traced over my stomach. "I told you, this bed set could handle a tank."

I closed my eyes tiredly, resting my head on his shoulder. "I should get up, but I'm just too tired. My legs feel like Jell-O."

He leaned over and pecked the top of my head. "Tell me what you need, I'll get it for you."

"Just some water," I murmured.

Emmett released me slowly, before getting up in an instant. He had his pants back on in seconds. I could barely catch him doing it. He paused in the doorway, still shirtless. "Do you want a snack, or anything?"

"Nah, I'll probably be making dinner for Charlie soon." I said, looking out the window. The sky was starting to get a bit darker. The alarm clock on my nightstand illuminated the time. Six in the evening. Charlie would be home closer to seven. He mentioned he would be doing a twelve-hour shift today, to make up a call-off of one of the deputies.

Emmett nodded once and made his way out of my room. His absence was missed for only a second. He returned with a bottle of water in his hand.

"Wow, that was fast. There really are some good things that come with being a vampire." I mentioned as he handed over the water.

"That's what I've always thought. There are really more positives to it, then negatives. But that's my opinion. Most of the others don't feel the same way." He admitted, sitting down at the edge of the bed. Watching me.

I took a couple gulps of the water, sitting myself up. "Really, the others don't like being vampires?"

"Well, I don't know for sure, it's not really something they talk about. Other than Edward… and Rose." He said looking down to his hands. "They were the most vocal about their thoughts on being turned."

"So how do you… become a vampire?" I muttered quietly.

He gave me a look. "Why do you ask?"

"It's just something I want to know."

"It just takes one bite. The transition is really bad… really painful. Probably like being forced to walk through hell. The burning… That feeling is something you can't forget." He said, a shiver rolling down his spine. He looked away from me for a minute. "But in my opinion, it was worth it."

I thought about it. There really was no other way to spend forever at Emmett's side. I would grow old. Die. He would remain the same. The thought of losing him was extremely painful. I don't think I could let that happen. Not to mention I would be giving birth to a child, partially a vampire as well. Would they be like Emmett? Would they live forever as well? I didn't want to move forward in life without them.

A/N: Thanks for reading! What do you all think of this story so far? It's been a lot of fun to write. Review, Favorite, Alert. Anything is appreciated.
