Buck was rushed through the hospital doors and there was doctors waiting.
"What have we got?" The doctor said
"29 year old male, gsw to lower abdomen and deep head laceration on left hand side. Cuts and bruises around the body" the paramedic explained as they passed him over, "severely tachycardic, and low bp. In and out of consciousness."
"Okay, we got him from here"
As they wheeled buck through the door, they entrance doors opened and the whole team ran it along with Athena and other officers.
"Evan Buckley, where is he?" Bobby asked
"He's being taken care of. He's in a serious condition"
Everyone stepped forwards and the doctor ran out from behind the desk, "you need to let them do their jobs and you can wait in the waiting room and we will update you as soon as we know anything"
They gathered in the waiting room and sat down and chimney paced up and down, "chimney why don't you sit down" Bobby said
"I can't"
"Look, let them do their job and wait some news" Athena said
"LIKE YOU'RE DOING YOUR JOB!" Chimney shouted at Athena
"Woah chim" Bobby said
"NO NOT WOAH. WE'RE ALL SAT HERE WHEN MADDIE IS STILL MISSING AND HE COULD BE DOING GOD KNOWS WHAT"
Athena stood up and walked over to chimney, "we have hundreds of officers out there right now, updating me every minute about what is happening. There is no point in you guys being out there as you'll all be running around the street getting lost. We are going to find her but the best place for you to be right now is here waiting for buck to pull through" she put her hand on his shoulder and he sat down in the chair rubbing his head.
Athena left to make some phone calls and everyone waiting for some news.
Maddies POV
I was staring out the window, "I wonder if anyone found his body. I wouldn't want him laying out there in the middle of no where" I said
"Maddie"
"What?"
"I'm sorry ok. I want us to be together"
"Where are we stopping?"
"I don't know yet. I'm thinking"
" I saw a sign for a campervan park a couple of miles up" I said
Doug carried on driving and we saw the sign again and he took a left into the park and he drove right to the bottom of the park and parked up behind a big trailer.
I sat in the seat and he turned and brushed the hair out of my face, he rubbed the bruise and patted my face, "I want us to be a family again Maddie, you and me and we can have a baby"
I turned away she faced the window and closed my eyes and went to sleep. I heard him take the keys out of the ignition and put them in his pocket.
Nobody's POV
Back at the hospital the doctor walked out,
"Family of Evan Buckley?"
Everyone stood up and he chuckled, "big family"
"Yeah we're his family" Eddie said, "how is he?"
"he's in surgery. It might take a while. The bullet entered his stomach but there wasn't an exit wound. We saw some internal bleeding which they are trying to fix. He also has a head injury that needs stitching up" the doctor explained
"Okay and he will pull through?" Eddie asked
"We are hoping so but he lost a massive amount of blood. We will keep you updated"
Everyone waited around and Athena had left shortly after to join the search for Maddie as it was now coming up to 24 hours.
The next morning
Maddie woke up and Doug wasn't in the car. She looked around and couldn't see him anywhere and she started to search around the car. She couldn't find any keys, she opened the glove box and found paperwork and in between them there was a phone. She opened it up and dialled 9-1-1.
"9-1-1, what's your emergency?" She said
Maddie whispered, "hello, my name is Maddie Buckley. I've been kidnapped by my husband"
"Maddie, it's sue"
"Oh thank god"
"I'm going to patch Athena in" sue said
"Hello?" Athena said
"Athena, it's Maddie"
"Oh my, where are you?" She asked
"We're in a trailer park just past San Diego. I don't know the name but we've been here all night. I don't know what his plan is but I think he's gonna-"
The door flew open and Doug threw Maddie out the car and she rolled down a hill. She still had the phone in her hand and then she let go and it was just in front of her. She tried to grab it when Doug stood on her fingers and they cracked. She screamed in pain and Doug kicked her in the stomach flipping her over.
"Doug... Doug please"
"You bitch. You ruined it, we were gonna be a family"
Maddie sat up and Doug punched her in the face twice. She looked up and Doug got down on top of her. He put his hands round her throat and she tried to push him off.
"Doug..." she strained, "I love you"
"You don't. You're just saying that"
"I made a mistake. I was scared. Let's just go"
Doug got off Maddie and left her laying on the floor and he took a couple of steps and picked up the phone,
"Hello 9-1-1?" He said
"Doug?" Athena said
"I suggest you stop looking for her."
"Just let her go"
"She's my wife"
"Look she hasn't done anything wrong. Just get out of there and leave her behind" Athena said
"I promise you now. If you don't stop looking, I'll have no choice and trust me. It will take you longer to identify her then it would be to find her"
Doug threw the phone at the tree and it smashed to pieces. He walked over to Maddie and grabbed her foot and pulled her up the hill, she was barely conscious. He got her to the car and shoved her in the back. He drove off but as he drove out he saw two police cars turning in. He looked at the signs and saw one way for San Diego and one for LA and he thought that they would be looking passed San Diego now so he started to drive back towards LA.
Back at the hospital, the doctor came to update the team, "buck is out of surgery and he made it through"
"Oh thank God" Bobby said
"He's got a long way to go but he's out of the woods for now"
"Can we see him?" Eddie asked
"Two at a time" the doctor said walking away.
Eddie and Bobby were the first two to go and see him. They walked in and sat down next to buck either side. Buck was laid in the hospital bed with a bandage wrapped around his head.
"Look at his bruises" eddie said wiping a tear from his eyes
"They will heal Eddie, it will all heal" Bobby said
"I can't believe this is happening, I don't even know what to tell Christopher"
"Chris will understand, he's a smart kid"
"Yeah he is but he loves buck. He's already lost so much and buck can't be another person. Buck is the only person I've soon Chris get close to since he lost his mom and I don't know what he would do if he lost him"
"You've got to be positive Eddie"
"It's not just Chris I'm worried about. If buck wakes up and Maddie isn't here, he's gonna panic and I can't help but think-"
"Eddie... they will find her"
"I hope so"
Bobby stood up and looked at buck, "I'm gonna go out there and see if anyone else wants to come in. You staying here?"
"Yeah I am" Eddie said as Bobby left.
Everyone came in and out all day but Eddie stayed and wouldn't leave. Buck was his best friend and didn't want him to be alone when he woke up. About two hours later, Eddie was asleep in the chair with his feet up in the bed when he felt a shake. He rubbed his eyes when he woke up and saw buck looking at him,
"Buck?" Eddie said getting up,
Hen popped her head in and said she'd grab the doctor. Eddie looked at him,
"How are you feeling?"
"Tired...I.. got shot?"
"Yeah they got the bullet out"
"Maddie?"
Eddie sat down and looked at buck, "Eddie, tell me"
"They haven't found her yet buck"
"How long has it been?"
"About 24 hours"
"24 hours" Buck threw his head back in the pillow, "she's dead isn't she"
"Buck, you can't talk like that. They are going to find her and she is going to be ok"
Bobby came in and smiled at buck, "there he is"
They sat down to talk to buck but he wasn't really talking. He was just staring.
"Buck?" Eddie said
"Who found me?" He asked
"A couple were driving past and they called 9-1-1"
"And I got shot?"
Eddie looked at Bobby, "yeah, we spoke about this"
"Oh yeah. I remember"
Buck carried on staring, "buck?"
"What happened?" Buck said
Bobby stood up, "I'm gonna go talk to the doctor for an update" Eddie nodded at him
"Is Maddie going to come visit me?" Buck asked
"Yeah she will do"
The doctor came in with a nurse, "hey buck. How are you feeling?" The doctor asked
"I'm.. tired"
"Can you tell me the last thing you remember?"
"I was getting ready for work, I spoke to my sister Maddie and then I left the house and I... I... I" buck stopped talking
"Buck?" The doctor said, buck just looked at him zoned out
"Let's get an urgent CT" the doctor said to the nurse and she quickly left
"Doc, what's going on?" Eddie asked
"This could be a delayed reaction from a head injury but the CT will let us know" nurses rushed in and pulled buck away on his bed.
Buck had his ct and they brought buck back,
"May I speak with you outside?" The doctor said to Eddie and Bobby
"Sure" Bobby said
"What's happening?" Eddie said
"The ct didn't show any bleeding or anything like that but it's possible the head injury has caused buck to develop amnesia"
"But he remembers who we are?" Bobby said
"Yeah he knows certain things but she's struggling to put together recent memories"
"Will this change?"
"It could be permanent. It could also get worse before it gets better" he explained.
"Okay thanks" Bobby and Eddie went back into bucks room and he was laid in the bed
"Hey, have you got my phone?"
"It's dead buck, but they found it"
"I just want to call Maddie and tell her what's happened"
Eddie sat down next to buck and looked at him, "buck, we just spoke to the doctor and he said you were suffering from amnesia"
"Amnesia, so I can't remember?"
"Yeah that's right, you got shot. You know that right?"
"Yeah?" Buck said
"So, you were shot by Maddies ex husband Doug"
"Doug? He's miles away"
"He came back and he took and Maddie. He drove you to San Diego and he shot you"
"So Maddie is..."
"Maddie is still with Doug and the police are looking for her"
"Is he going to hurt-"
"Listen to me buck, Doug loves Maddie and she's trying to go along with it so we think she will be safe for now"
"I remember him. He's dangerous. He threatened to kill her before she left"
Buck was crying and Eddie grabbed his hand, "you are safe now buck and they are going to find Maddie and she will be back with us all soon"
Buck rolled over in the bed and wiped the tears from his face. He curled up in a ball and went to sleep. Eddie watched him sleep and Bobby left to go and update everyone about buck.

Buck woke up in the car and he was bleeding. He wiped his head and looked around and saw Maddie in the front and Doug driving. Maddies head was bleeding.
"Doug please let me look at him, he's not woke up yet"
"I need to get gas anyway"
Maddie opened the back door and crawled in and tapped bucks face, he woke up properly and looked at her.
The rest was a blur for buck and then Doug pulled over again and Maddie got out and so did he. They were both stood on the road and talking and the Doug turned around and shot buck in the stomach, he fell on the floor and Maddie was dragged away by Doug.
Buck laid in the floor for hours and then he got his phone out and spoke to Eddie and Bobby. He listened to what they said but he couldn't stay awake.
Eddie's POV
I dosed off and woke up as I heard buck moving around, he was thrashing around in the bed and he was sweating and whimpering.
"Buck...buck" I said shaking him but he wasn't waking up. I stood over him and shook his shoulders,
"Buck!"
He jumped awake and grabbed my arm. He squeezed and then he let go and looked at me,
"He shot me.. Doug and then he dragged Maddie away"
"You remember it?" I asked him
"I dreamt. Bits and pieces. She was pretty beat up, she was scared but she was being tough"
"She is tough buck. So tough and she will be ok"
Two days later
There was still no word on Maddie and they had been unable to track them is and just assumed they had been hiding. Buck had got a little better and had managed to get up on his feet. He had also get most of his memories back it was just bits and pieces he couldn't put together.
Maddie opened her eyes a little and she could see buildings. They were still in San Diego after hiding for a couple of days.
Maddies eyes were pretty swollen so she couldn't really see, she moved her hand and Doug grabbed it but she pulled away. She carried on looking out the window until they came to a stop. She turned around and look at Doug,
"Why are we stopping?"
"I know you don't want me Maddie" he said
"What are you talking about?" She asked
"You tried to get help Maddie, run away. I killed your brother, what more can I expect"
"I was happy here Doug" she whispered "I was living my life, my brother, my job, boyfriend"
"But you ran away from me Maddie"
"You hurt me Doug"
Doug talked the steering wheel and looked out the window, "I came back here because I thought we could be a family and be together but I know you don't want that anymore"
"Doug..."
Doug reached into his pocket and grabbed a hold of Maddie, he dug a knife into Maddies side twice and she screamed in pain, he grabbed a hold of her and pulled her close, "if I can't Maddie, no one can" he pushed Maddie out of the car and she fell on the floor. She looked up as Doug drove off and she turned around to see the hospital doors.
