Chapter 3

-Mystic Falls, Virginia-

Elena walked into the boarding house with a frown on her face. Based on the text she got from Stefan, the situation sounded urgent. The Petrova doppelganger frowned seeing the look on both Stefan and Damon's faces. "What's wrong? What happened?" she asked as fear began growing inside of her. Her brown eyes widened as Damon spoke up.

"I saw Jessica today. From the looks of things she must have been in the same house you were in just a different part," the black haired Salvatore spoke slowly, watching Elena's face morph from surprise to horror. "That's not the best part…from the looks of it…Jessica is a vampire now, and she can walk in the sun. If she is a vampire, she remembers anything and everything she has been compelled to forget." He glanced at Stefan out of the corner of his eye and saw his younger brother stiffen. That made him frown. He mentally cursed as Rose caught onto what he had said.

"You make it sound like the two of you did something to her sister and forced her to forget," Rose said with a wry chuckle. The older vampire frowned as the brothers both gained guilty looks on their faces. She sped behind Elena and pulled her back slightly away from the Salvatore brothers

Elena froze and found it hard to breathe. Her little sister had been used by Damon and her boyfriend. Tears slowly welled up in her eyes as she felt pure, unadulterated rage towards the two younger vampires. "What did you two do to Jessica?" she demanded glaring at them. When they were quiet, she tried to lunge for them but was held back by Rose. "Tell me!"

"I only fed from her and compelled her to forget a couple of times. No more than three times max. That's it," Damon said, speaking up first. He could see Stefan sweating and struggling with whether to come clean or not. His blood ran cold as Stefan slowly began to speak.

"When I….was on human blood before Katherine came to town…Jessica's scent was just too irresistible. However, because of the state I was in, I didn't care what I did to her," his voice broke as he felt remorse for what he did. Tears slowly shone in his eyes as he looked down at his hands. "I took her….multiple times. Each and every time I made her forget what I did to her until the night of the Miss Mystic Falls Pageant. I almost killed her, but someone snapped my neck and saved her and compelled her to forget what I was about to do to her." He looked at Elena to see how heartbroken his girlfriend was. He deserved it after all. He had raped and drank from her younger sister multiple times. "Elena-" he tried to speak but gasped loudly in pain as he felt a stake in his stomach. His green eyes met the angry, brown ones of Elena who backed away and broke into sobs in Rose's arms.

"Get me out of here," Elena said softly to Rose who vanished with Elena in her arms towards Elena's house. The doppelganger sighed heavily as she looked at Rose while tears streamed down her cheeks. "Thank you," she whispered softly to the vampire.

Rose looked over Elena to make sure she was okay. "Do you want me to go back to the boarding house and kill them because I can? I can easily go back there and kill both of them. Do you want me to stay here to keep watch over your house?" she whispered softly. She couldn't believe what Stefan and Damon had done…especially Stefan. Sure she had killed a lot of people over the years as a vampire, but to rape and drink from someone especially a girl who was 15 years old.

Elena swallowed thickly as she pulled away from Rose. "I…I have to tell my aunt. I have to tell her everything. Since you're here, can you help me because I don't think she'll believe me if I am the only one explaining. We have to find Jessica too," Elena said as she began to ramble about everything that she had to do in addition to worrying about Klaus.

Rose caught her hands. "It's okay Elena. I'll help you, but you need to calm down so that we can explain everything without your emotions running high." Rose gave a soft smile to the Doppelganger. She could tell that Elena was vastly different from Katerina. Elena truly was selfless. The 500 or so year old vampire watched Elena go inside and stepped inside after Elena invited her in. She stood back a little as Elena sat next to Jenna and began spilling all of the secrets that she had been keeping from Jenna.

-Near Mystic Falls-

Jessica smiled sheepishly as Luka looked at all the bags she had from the trip that Elijah had her buy. SHe had only wanted to buy a few things, but the Original had her get a few sets of nice clothes as well as a few pairs of nice shoes. She was now dressed in black skinny jeans with two chains on her left side. The jeans were accompanied with a blood red t-shirt that had an image of SpiderGwen on it and a black fishnet shirt with one long sleeve and was under the t-shirt. She wore three inch heeled, black, combat boots with a combination of red, black, and white laces. Her once long brown hair was cut into a short bob at her jaw with three braids on the right side that had small black hair beads holding the braids together. "Okay, don't you dare make fun of me, Luka," she scolded him. "I tried to tell Elijah this was too much, but he didn't listen to me." She paused and bit her lip lightly. "I know your dad made me a daylight ring already, but I was wondering if you could make this anklet into one for me. I would hide it under my jeans meaning that the ring would be a decoy. I ran this idea by Elijah, and he agreed that it would be a good one. I just wanted to ask you if you could do it for me." She didn't want to admit out loud that he was handsome, but she knew that witches and vampires never got along very well. Bonnie and Damon were the perfect example.

Luka blinked slightly as Jessica pulled out a box from a jewelry store and went wide eyed seeing the dainty lapis lazuli anklet with diamonds and sapphires as well to make it seem like it wasn't a potential daylight anklet. He glanced at Jessica and could tell that she was more herself even if he didn't know her very well. "Yeah. I can do that. That's actually a smart idea to have the ring be a decoy." He gently took the anklet and brought it over to the small bedside table where a small trickle of sunlight was. He lightly set the jewelry down in the sun and closed his eyes, muttering softly in Latin for a few moments before he opened his eyes and smiled at Jessica.

The newborn vampire took the anklet and lifted one of her jean pant legs before clasping it on. She fixed her jeans and took off her ring before lightly tossing it on the bed sheets. She swallowed and slowly put her hand into the sunlight smiling as she felt the warmth of the sun. "Thanks Luka," she said lightly and kissed his cheek before she put her ring back on humming softly. "You hungry? I make a mean chow mein," she said as she went out of the room towards the kitchen to see Jonas and Elijah talking. "Sorry to interrupt….I was gonna make some chow mein… Do either of you want any?" she asked lightly as she went to the fridge looking for the ingredients. She gave a soft giggle as Jonas looked like he was caught off guard. "Don't worry. I'm not gonna eat you," she joked and snorted as Luka burst out laughing at what she said and Elijah cracked a smile.

Jonas saw his son laughing and sighed softly. "Chow mein sounds great," he said lightly, seeing the young vampire smile brightly before she began cooking. He raised an eyebrow as she took out the new phone that Elijah got her and put her Spotify on shuffle playing a mixture of music and dancing around as she cooked the meal for everyone. The warlock glanced at his son again. He knew that he had told Luka to get close to the Bennett witch, but he could tell his son was slowly becoming attracted to the young vampire. He felt conflicted. They were magic wielders, and she was a vampire. However, she was different from vampires he had met in the past. She was in control and very meticulous about everything. The warlock had a feeling that if she had been around magic wielders from birth, she would have unlocked magic. He swallowed thickly. He didn't understand how, but Jonas was beginning to see Jessica as a daughter.

-Some time later Mystic Falls, Virginia-

Elena smiled softly to herself as she drank some water the next morning as the lawyer had Jenna officially sign the deed of the house as well as the Lake House. Everything the night before had gone better than she had hoped. Jenna took to everything fairly quickly especially when Rose introduced herself. Jenna mentioned that Jeremy should sign the deed, but since he had already been killed once by Damon, Elena didn't want to risk it. Elena came over to her aunt at the front door as the lawyer left and saw Rose on the patio. Jenna had made the decision that only Rose and Caroline and Jessica - when they found her - would be allowed inside since as of now all invitations had been rescinded. "I know everything that is going on is a lot, Jenna, but thank you for this."

Jenna looked at her niece. "I am still mad that you kept it from me for so long, but I can't fault you since you were trying to protect me. However, we need to find Jessica. Especially if she is a vampire. I want my niece home," she said with new determination. She turned to Rose with a smile. "Rose-Marie, please come in," Jenna said, moving to the side to let Rose in. "Now, how do we find Jessica?" she asked her niece and the vampire.

Rose pondered for a moment. "Damon mentioned that she must have been in the same abandoned house we had been in. That has to mean Trevor knew about her and kept the information about her being there from me." Rose paled slightly. "Trevor must have been the one to turn her," she whispered softly wide eyed in shock.

"That doesn't explain how she got a daylight ring according to Damon. The only witch that she knew was Bonnie, and Bonnie hasn't done a spell like that since Caroline became a vampire," Elena said confused. "Unless Elijah can't be killed by a normal stake, and Elijah knows witches," she concluded, watching realization dawn on Rose's face. "You called Elijah an Original. That has to mean he can only die a certain way, and he didn't die when Damon staked him."

Jenna frowned slightly. "Meaning we have to contact Elijah to find Jessica?" the red head concluded. "How do we do that?" she asked.

"Craigslist," Rose answered and rolled her eyes as both Jenna and Elena snorted at her. "I am serious. My friend in Richmond, Slater, was the one who contacted him." She smiled as her phone rang. "There he is now," she said as she answered her phone. "Slater, I was just about to call you. Are you-"

Slater quickly cut her off. "I'm okay Rose. I am sorry that I ran off like that. I was really freaked out by what happened. I was just calling to tell you that I don't want any part of this anymore. I did do a little bit of last minute digging though. There is a way to stop the ritual. You're going to need the moonstone. Can your friend get the moonstone?" he asked earnestly, sounding almost like his normal self.

Rose frowned at what he was saying. She glanced between Elena and Jenna for a second. "Thank you for the information, Slater, but I actually need something else from you. I need you to send another message to Elijah." she saw the notepad Jenna wrote on. "Tell him that we need to talk to Jessica," she said quickly and frowned as Slater stayed quiet. She could hear someone in the background. "Slater?"

-Slater's Residence Richmond, Virginia-

Jessica looked on in fascination as Elijah compelled Slater. He had told her about his family and even showed her memories. He had told her the differences between himself and normal vampires. She found it hard to believe, but seeing Elijah in action was something else. Her eyes widened as she overheard Rose say they wanted to talk to her. Her hazel eyes met the brown ones of Elijah as she bit her lip lightly contemplating if she wanted to talk to them.

"Is that something you wish to do?" Elijah whispered softly to her.

"Is Rose asking for the Salvatores? Or for my sister?" Jessica whispered back lightly.

Elijah looked at Slater expectantly. The Original listened to Rose's response once Slater asked if Jessica's family was asking or if the Salvatore brothers were asking. He heard Jessica inhale when Rose told Slater that Jessica's aunt and sister wanted to know.

"I'll…I'll contact them soon," Jessica told Slater, feeling conflicted before she stood and walked out of Slater's place to get some air and alone time.
