"What am I supposed to do all day when you are out there saving lives?" Draco wonders as Harry changes into a clean pair of scrubs. Their honeymoon is over, and now that they are properly bonded, Draco feels safe even though Harry is leaving. He knows his alpha will be back because there is a mark on Draco's neck. He doesn't have to like that Harry is leaving, but he sure as hell needs to get used to it. Harry is a busy person, with an important job.

"Well," Harry likes the idea of Draco waiting in his bed all day, his fragrant scent just plain brightening up Harry's life. "What do you usually do all day?"

Draco squints, wondering that himself. "Well, I get up in the morning."

Harry has seen Draco in the mornings. Draco Malfoy does not wake up in the morning. He wakes up at three pm. Five pm if he's taxed.

"I pick out my outfit." Draco looks as if he is still mourning his wardrobe. "That's like a few hours right there."

Harry has seen Draco's outfits. He knows where the time goes. Even as a beta, Draco put extreme care into his appearance. The effect was instant and successful. Draco always looked as if he was walking on a runway. Now that he's an omega, the effect has been multiplied by a thousandth, at least in Harry's alpha eyes. Draco is beautiful.

Draco doesn't notice Harry musing over what he said. "And then I have brunch because I need to eat."

"Obviously." Harry places a kiss in Draco's hair nuzzling it a little. He wishes he could stay home with Draco all day and laze around with him. But the hospital needs him, and Harry needs the hospital. He can't be around so much temptation all day. He needs to work. People depend on him to show up. Harry wonders how mated alphas get anything done. No wonder Sirius doesn't have a job. Also because Sirius is too rich to work. Harry wishes he wasn't so obsessed with being a surgeon and could just be with his mate all day.

"And then it's evening, so I call Pansy." Draco hates Pansy but she is someone he grew up with and she is an omega. She is close to him. Draco wonders if it is normal to hate people one is friends with. As his self-awareness grows, he is starting to notice the differences between him, his family, and normal people and their families.

"I don't…" Harry stops himself from forbidding Draco from speaking to Pansy. He doesn't need to run Draco's life for him. The sultry blond is an adult. Harry's other half, but an adult nonetheless. An omega has enough people trying to run his or her life. Harry is not going to add to that. "I think that's great, Draco."

"And then it's time for dinner." Draco pouts a little when Harry starts to head out of their bedroom. "And then I have to pick out sleepwear."

"You sleep naked." Harry pauses in where he is opening the door.

"Yes," Draco nods sagely. "And then it's bedtime. It takes me a few hours to do my nighttime routine. I need to layer the creams exactly right to look good."

"You…" Harry knows he is late but fuck it. It's not as if the OR can start without him. His honeymoon has just ended but it wasn't long enough. A week, alone, with Draco. His mouth waters a little. He could use another week with Draco, or a month or a year, whatever. "You don't need those creams, Draco." The blond is so beautiful, it's criminal. Perfect hair like an angel's halo, pretty face, long eyelashes, berry lips, legs for days, and the scent. Harry could recite poems about that damn pancake scent.

"And then I wake up, and start all over again." Draco bows his head, "That's my life," a curtain of pretty platinum blond bangs covers his face. He wasn't raised to do any work. He was sent to university because he was supposed to take over the family business. When he presented as an omega, his education was rendered useless because society doesn't allow omegas to work, and Lucius would never give him the business now. Not that Draco gave a crap about his learning anyway. All he's ever wanted is to live an easy life.

"Then do that," Harry shrugs, "I don't care what you do all day."

"You don't want me to be a perfect little housewife?" Draco asks, a little self-conscious. He knows what the expectations are of him. Omegas are expected to keep a perfect home. Draco doesn't know the first thing about cooking, or cleaning, or any of the boring things homemakers do.

"Do you know how to be a housewife?" Harry doesn't even know what that would look like. He knows Draco would look good in an apron because he looks good in everything. That's it.

"No," Draco pouts again, this time, Harry cannot resist the look and approaches the sulking blond, kissing him.

"Then don't worry about it." Harry pats Draco's head again.

Draco nods slowly. "Have a good day at work," He meant for that to sound sarcastic. It comes out sounding meaningful and genuine. "I will be here, waiting for you." He can't help but feel loving and caring toward Harry. His emotions are beyond his conscious control at this point.

"Oh fuck," Harry drops his bag and approaches Draco like a tiger stalking its prey. Pushing Draco on his back, he groans when his mate instinctively spreads his legs, accommodating Harry's frame. "How am I supposed to go to work now?" Harry asks Draco in between kisses.

"Your parents are rich," Draco reminds Harry, wanting his alpha inside of him again. After the intimacy they shared last week, he doesn't want to part from his husband again. "Quit and stay home with me all day." He is only partly joking. He would be overjoyed if Harry quit his job and just spent all his day with Draco, in marital bliss.

"I wish," Harry has no idea how mated alphas contribute to society at all.

"Hey," Draco notices that Harry is going through withdrawal here, and needs to go to work because it's his vocation. "I am not going anywhere." He presses a final chaste kiss to his husband's lips. "Go to work. Your patients need you."

"Really?" Harry blinks as his body finds the strength to part from Draco again.

"I promise," Draco tries to suppress the feeling of loneliness and sadness, knowing Harry will sense his emotions if he is not careful. The stupid alpha will stay home and get in trouble at work because he doesn't have any more vacation days. "I belong to you." He means it with every fiber of his being. If Draco's only value is being a good love slave to Harry, then he will be here waiting to please his alpha after a hard day's work. "Go save some lives."

Harry doesn't want to leave his mate, but work is important. He feels less afraid of leaving Draco here, now that Sirius and Remus are downstairs. "See you later. I love you," he says, feeling proud because he dares to say it out loud.

Draco purses his lips and nods, "I know," he says as Harry starts to walk out, feeling incredibly alone and desolate.
