Be mine
This story is following Kelly's and Stella's life. There is no specific time that it's set in, but everything up to the current episode that runs in the U.S. already happened. The COVID-19 pandemic is not present anymore, but it also happened.
I also wanted to add that this is just one part of the story. In here, I'll be taking a close look on Kelly's and Stella's relationship as well as all the relationships from the members of firehouse 51. So Brettsey, Cruz and Chloe etc.
I'm saying this because I'll post a story on Chicago P.D. with a differnet name, and there I'll focus on Upstead and Burzek etc.
I hope you're fine with that and now, enjoy the story! ~D.
"Hey, you done in there?", Kelly yelled from the kitchen.
Stella didn't answer. Kelly rolled his eyes and went on with reading the newspaper. They were supposed to be on the way to their favorite restaurant, where Kelly booked a table earlier this week. It was a surprise for their anniversary.
"Stella are you good? You know, we should get going in the next few minutes otherwise we're going to be late…", Kelly said while getting up from the chair.
He walked over to the bathroom and knocked on the door.
"Come on, I know you look great."
She still didn't answer. Kelly got nervous. She always answers him when he calls her. He knocked again.
"Is everything okay in there? Stella?"
Suddenly, the door opened, and she walked out, with earphones plugged into her ears. She jumped a little when she ran into him and took out her earphones.
"Woah, what are you doing here? I told you to wait in the kitchen."
"You weren't answering me, so I thought something happened. Sorry for being worried", he said, lifting his hands up in defeat.
"Oh, I didn't hear you… I'm sorry. I'm all good, so… You wanna go?"
She smiled brightly at him and a smile appeared on his lips as well.
"Yes, let's go."
Then, they were off to the restaurant.
"Happy anniversary", Kelly said while lifting his glass of wine towards Stella.
Stella smiled and clinked her glass with his.
"I can't believe that it's been three years since we got back together", she said while smiling brightly at him.
"I promised you that it'll work out this time", Kelly replied.
"Yes, you did", she said and watched him closely, "and it's been pretty good so far."
"I'm doing my best, that's what you deserve. No, you deserve even more than that."
She kept her eyes locked on his, waiting for him to continue.
"You deserve the world, Stella", he said.
She looked at him, with her brightest smile on her lips and almost lost it, when she saw how emotional he was.
Then, Kelly waved for the servant to bring the bill. He paid, got up and put his jacked on, ready to leave. She got up too, put her jacked on and took his hand to walk out of the restaurant. They walked over to his car and climbed in.
She expected him to drive back to their apartment but instead, he drove off Roosevelt Road to S Lumber Street.
"What are we doing here?", Stella asked confused.
"Do you trust me?", Kelly asked with a sheepish grin on his face.
"Yes of course, but…"
"Good, then don't say anything. You'll see."
His mysterious answer caused her to regret her response. She trusted him with her life, everyday practically, but they were in the middle of nowhere here and he just kept on driving.
Just as she was about to protest again, he stopped the car and got out. Stella was even more confused now. They were near the St. Charles Air Line Bridge, but there was no building near them, that she knew. While getting out of the car, she spotted Kelly walking towards the river. She followed him and stood next to him. He watched the small movements of the water, without saying a word.
"Now you're scaring me. I know I told you that I trust you, but this is not what I meant with that. Can you please tell me what we're doing here?"
He remained silent.
"Please Kelly, it's getting cold and…"
She gasped when she saw him kneeling in front of her. She covered her mouth with her hand and tried to hold back the tears that were forming in her eyes.
"I meant what I said earlier. You deserve the world Stella, and I want to be the man who gives it to you. I can't give you that right now, but I want to spend the rest of my life trying to achieve that. I want to make you happy, and I know, that I can make you happy. So, my question is: Will you marry me, Stella Kidd?"
And with that question being asked, she lost it. Tears were streaming down her face like waterfalls and a big bright smile appeared on her lips.
"Yes."
He smiled widely when he got back up and put the plain, rose golden ring on her finger.
"Wow", she said while admiring her ring, "it's beautiful."
She looked at him and saw pure love sparkling in his eyes. Then she realized that his hands were shaking.
"Why are you shaking? Were you nervous?"
"As hell. I didn't think that you'd accept right away. I mean, after everything we've been through, I thought, that you might say you need time… But of course, I was hoping for you to say yes."
She laughed a little and threw her arms around him.
"Well, I surprised you then… that's good, you know… keeps our life interesting."
"God, I wish you'd know how much I love you", he said while circling her around in the air.
"I love you too", she answered and pecked him on his lips.
He smiled once more at her and carried her back to his car. He helped her to get in and jumped in as well. While he took his car back onto Roosevelt Road, she admired her ring in the light of the street lanterns. She didn't pay any attention on where they were driving.
When he stopped the car, she expected them to be in front of their apartment. But he drove elsewhere again. This time though, she knew the place.
They opened the door and only a second later, Herrmann jumped up behind the bar and shouted: "Congratulations!"
Then, the lights went on and all of their cheering friends were revealed. They were gathered around the tables and had big smiles on their faces.
"Look at that, Kelly Severide being engaged", Capp said, laughing. "Can't remember we've seen this before."
"Shut up Capp", Kelly answered and shook his hand.
Meanwhile Stella was hugging Sylvie, who was in tears.
"I'm so happy for you Stella", Sylvie sobbed.
"Thank you, Sylvie. But I know that you helped him choose the ring", Stella replied.
"I don't even know what you're talking about."
Her innocent smile was betraying her.
"Don't try to hide it. I mean, you didn't think I'd be confused about you meeting Kelly for Lunch? At 2pm on a Thursday?"
Well, we hoped you wouldn't notice", Sylvie answered, laughing.
"Hey Stella, congratulations on your engagement."
Stella knew that voice, although she couldn't quite make out the person who was talking to her. Then, she saw Hailey Upton walking over towards her.
"Thank you, Upton. I didn't think you'd be here tonight."
Hailey hugged her and smiled.
"Oh, you know, Herrmann was shouting around that drinks would be on the house tonight, so I can't really miss that opportunity, right? But anyways, we've worked together in the past and I see you as a friend of mine, if you don't mind."
"No, of course I don't mind. It's nice having you around and I hope that you'll join us on our next Ladies night… You in?"
"Sure thing", Hailey answered and walked back towards the Intelligence table.
Stella and Kelly walked around Molly's all night, receiving many good wishes and shared a lot of small talk. At the end, they arrived at Casey's table. He sat all by himself, watching his colleagues and friends dancing and laughing.
"Hey, haven't seen you all night, bud", Kelly greeted him and pulled Stella into his lap.
"Yeah, you were busy, I thought I'd wait here and congratulate you when you've talked to everyone."
He smiled weakly and turned his beer bottle between his fingers.
"Okay, what's going on?", Stella asked.
She could see that something was on his mind. When he looked up without answering her, she followed his gaze and saw Brett on the dance floor with Mackey and Gallo.
"You haven't talked to her yet?"
Casey shook his head.
"Hey, I know it's none of my business, but isn't it time to get over Dawson and move on?", Kelly asked carefully.
"You don't have to say that to me", Casey answered, raising his hands in defeat.
"I don't get it."
"I'm ready to move on, I've been ready a long time ago, but Sylvie… She doubts that I'm not in love with Gabby anymore. I told her my feelings are real, but she doesn't believe me. I can't force her to be with me if she doesn't want it."
"Goodness me, Casey!", Stella said frustrated, "Open your eyes! That woman over there is head over heels for you, she's just too scared to accept it. I know that you two would be great together, but you have to fight for her, otherwise she ends up with that Lieutenant. What was his name again? Something with Greg…"
Casey looked at Stella, angst flickering in his eyes.
"You mean… that's a serious thing between them?"
Stella put her hands up in the air, showing ignorance.
"Okay, I know, I'm not the best guy to give advice in terms of relationships but let me tell you this: If I didn't fight for the heart of this wonderful woman, we wouldn't be engaged today. It was the best decision I've made in my whole life. Casey, fight for your girl, before another one gets to her heart."
Kelly nodded encouraging. Stella smiled at him.
"You mean, right now?"
"Yes, go!", Stella ordered.
But when they looked back over to the dancefloor, they saw Brett and Lieutenant Grainger kissing each other…
Author's note: Hello everyone! This is my first ever written One Chicago FanFic, so please be nice. I've done a FanFiction for Mission: Impossible before (How Fallout changed us; if anyone's interested 😊)so I'm not completely new to writing. And I've written a book, but it's in German, because I'm from Switzerland. Which brings me to the point of grammar and spelling mistakes… Please, please, please tell me, if you spot any big mistakes or if you have better ideas for certain words etc. I can only use the Editor-tool from Word and I don't think that it spots all of the mistakes… And another important thing: I don't have specific update times, I'm trying to do it once a week but I'm still in school, so I don't really know if I'll have the energy… And because I live in Switzerland, the time difference is massive, so I'll update during nighttime in the U.S. I hope you're okay with that😊
Reviews are always appreciated, and I hope that some of you like this story.
Anyways, I hope you all stay safe and have a great day! ~ D.
