Other Jeff Tracy 2004 POV
Jeff was well on his way back to Tracy Island in Thunderbird one. He did not feel the need to follow his boys to the hospital to drop of their rescued oilrig workers. He trusted his boys. Jeff relaxed in his chair having cleared the typhoon with his machine's fast engines. This was a tricky rescue. Dangerous even. But no one else had the resources they had. Jeff was so glad that international rescue could help people in dangerous situations and that they really make a difference. It was too late for his beloved wife. But they could save someone else and their family from that fate. It had to be worth the risk of operating an international rescue organisation with his sons. Speaking of sons. Scott had just called in and confirmed the drop off at the hospital went well.
When he heard his second oldest son, Virgil, request all their attention via the communication system he was curious. Especially when he started off sounding nervous for some reason. Jeff and his son responded to Virgil to let him go ahead with whatever he had to discuss.
Virgil cleared his throat and started speaking "Hey guys and dad! Well done today! You remember our stragglers that we picked up from the water that weren't included in the personnel list.".
Virgil stopped long enough to hear different affirmatives from his family and continued "Well, we have a bit of a mystery on our hands. They are only teenagers. The younger of the two we picked up was drowning. Full on heart stop and not breathing. I managed to get him back with the help of his brother who was in the water with him and knows CPR. The older brother can only be a couple of years older. They just appeared out of nowhere in the water. Not any connection with the oilrig. There wasn't any trace of a boat around. I have this strange feeling. It was like they just appeared out of the blue, or well stormy black with the typhoon going on and…".
With every sentence Virgil spoke, the pace picked up speed, and made less sense to Jeff. Something had to be done about it. "Virgil! Slow down! Take a deep breath!" Jeff interrupted in his stern commander voice.
Virgil followed his dad's command and took a deep breath. "Try to relax Virgie. It is only us, your family. Can you please try to explain again? Can you try to report through the SBAR-model. Do you remember it? Situation, Background, Assessment and Recommendation. I'm sure that I speak for all of us when I say that we don't really follow you right now. I promise that I and the boys won't interrupt you until the end. Please try again Virgil!" Jeff continued in a calmer voice. Starting to worry about what had happened to his usually calm and collected boy, to make him this frazzled.
"Sure! Thanks dad!" Virgil answered, sounding a bit more composed.
"Situation: I have two teenagers still onboard with me on Thunderbird two. One nearly died from drowning but is currently stabilised.
Background: Two teenagers appeared seemingly out of thin air, a bit off the rescue site at the oilrig during the typhoon. Scott saw their emergency signal, and we picked them up in Thunderbird two. They were wearing blue international rescue uniforms. The younger teenager was in bad shape, due to drowning and a headwound.
Assessment: Provided CPR treatment together with the older teen. We managed to return the younger teen to a normalised heart rhythm and breathing again. I provided further treatment, and he is now stabilised, but still very unwell.
Afterwards, I question the older teen about the situation. Older teen is insisting that he is Gordon Tracy of international rescue, while his younger brother is Alan Tracy. They know about our secret identities. This so-called Gordon Tracy, believe that we are the imposters. Thanked us for helping his little brother. Offered to sweep this under the rug as a thank you if we returned them to their brothers, before and I quote they go full smother hen on us.
Recommendation: I have this gut feeling about them. I don't know what is going on and neither do they, but I believe that they have been honest. I judged their threat level low, with the younger brother unconscious, and the older scared out of his mind with worry. I took off my mask and exposed my identity. I invited them to come to Tracy Island. I recommend that we figure out what the hell is going on together.
Virgil finished his unbelievable report, as he was taught by his father, with inviting any questions.
It was silent for a precious few seconds after the question was asked, before everyone started talking at the same time through the communication systems. No one was able to make out any words through the cacophony of voices. Jeff had to resort to his special "I am meaning business" whistle, to get his boys to settle down.
Jeff sighed deeply and said, "There was quite a bit of information to unpack there, Virgil. Please give me a minute to think boys.".
Jeffs question was answered by a chorus of FAB from his sons. This was a mess. Jeff had a problem of wrapping his head around it.
Two teenagers that might be an alternative version of his sons. One of the teenagers was seriously injured and the other was scared. His paternal instinct wanted to protect them.
The teenagers knew their secret identities. They were more of a potential threat to his family, out in the world, than on their Island if they leaked their identities.
Even if they were dangerous, which Jeff doubted, he was confident that they could handle it.
When Jeff had collected his thoughts, he addressed his boys again "Thanks boys! I agree with you Virgil. The benefit outweighs the risk in this case. I trust your judgement. You are good at reading people. Does anyone disagree with bringing these two boys' home to the island and figuring out this mystery?".
None of the team voiced any disagreements.
"Then let's go home boys!"
