Movie Gordon 2004 POV
"This had to be a practical joke. Some payback, for colouring all of Virgil's underwear pink last week. But how did Virgil get the entire family, to go along with it?" Gordon thought as he went back to Thunderbird twos cargo hold, in search of the actors, Virgil had to have hired.
Gordon, to his family's surprise, could be sneaky when he wanted to. He's usually boisterous personality let him be seen and heard in his huge family. He wasn't the most academically gifted, like John who took to getting master's degrees as a fun side hobby. Or artistically talented like Virgil. Gordon wasn't a carbon copy of his dad like Scott, or the baby of the family like Alan. Gordon was very athletically talented and was good at thinking quick on his feet, or fins, as Scott usually teased him about.
Gordon had been a member of WASP (world aquanaut security patrol), before he was honourably discharged, when he broke his back during a hydrofoil accident in his service. His career and independence from his family, was taken from him because of the accident, before it even had time to really begin.
He was told that, he would never walk again after his accident. He stayed in the hospital for four months. The Tracy family was stubborn. Gordon was a Tracy through and through, and did not just walk again after a year, but won an Olympic gold medal in swimming.
Gordon was very competent. He was currently the youngest on the international rescue team, and used that and his loud personality, to let himself be underestimated in some capacity. Of course, only when it suited him. Gordon was very protective of his family. They saved his life after the accident, by pulling him out of the deep depression he had fallen into.
Gordon had helped pulling the boys out of the ocean. He had seen the younger one, pale and lifeless on the floor, before he had to go and help the other victims of the oilrig platform they had saved. Leaving him in Virgil's capable hands.
Gordon logically knew that Virgil would not mess around, just to get revenge on him, during a rescue mission. Virgil would never endanger another person to get revenge on him, for a harmless practical joke. Especially not kids! Even if he tried, the rest of the family would never play along on a rescue. They were professionals.
But the alternative option, that this wasn't a practical joke, was not something Gordon wanted to entertain. Even if he overlooked the science fiction movie plot, that were their working theory with these kids. They were raised to always look for the best in people, but being a son of a famous billionaire, they could not afford to be naïve. Being gullible was dangerous, especially for a Tracy.
But that was not all that kept Gordon on the fence. If this wasn't some elaborate plot, to reveal their family secret. If those kids were a version of him and Alan, it would mean that his alternative little brother almost drowned. That his alternative version wasn't fast enough, good enough, to save his brother from a life and death experience. That was the dilemma, Gordon did not want to think about. No. Just, no.
Instead, it was easier to view them as a potential threat to the family. That, Gordon could do. He snuck into the back to observe them. Scott was flying, and Virgil was still in the front of Thunderbird two after his report on the boys.
Gordon found a good viewpoint, hidden by some equipment, and started his observation on the potential threat to his family.
The younger kid looked awful, unnaturally pale and so very small, lying unconscious on the medical bed. He had a bandage around his head. Hooked up to Thunderbird twos vitals monitoring system, he heard a steady beeping sound that represented the kid's heartbeat. It sounded a little fast. The kid was connected to several cables on his chest for monitoring. He had an oxygen mask on. An IV-line in his arm, provided fluids from the saline drip, hanging over the bed on Thunderbirds twos wall.
Sitting beside the kid was the older teen. His supposed counterpart, if the crazy theory they entertained currently had any merit. He did not look like him. He was younger and blond. There were points against them. The teen was wearing a blue uniform, with a yellow sash across his chest. He was holding his younger brother's hand, looking completely devastated at the sight of his brother. His supposed counterpart hadn't noticed him yet.
Suddenly, his counterpart jumped forward, when he heard a weak and horse "Scotty" from the sick child. The not-him shouted "ALAN! Are you okay!?". When all, the not-him, got in response was a pained groan, he continued with "Alan! Please answer me!".
Scotty was the childhood nickname, for Gordon's oldest brother. You did not use it unless you wanted a slap to the back of your head. If they were imposters, how did they know that?
"Gords? You, okay?" the sick kid asked his brother, in a low raspy voice.
Okay, almost dying and first asking about the family's condition, was Tracy behaviour in a nutshell. One point in their favour, Gordon thought.
"Hey Allie!" The not-him responded, voice thick with emotion "That's my line! Stop stealing them! How are you feeling?".
Deflection, with a weak joke, was something he could see himself do in a situation like this. Fine, another point in their favour.
"Hurts, Gordy! I want Scott! "The younger one answered.
That weak cry, for his older brother, cracked something in Gordon's heart. Smother-hen mode threatening to activate.
"I know Sprout, I know." The not-him said, as he very carefully ran his hand through Alan's golden wet locks. "Something happened, I don't really know what yet, but we are separated from our brothers. I will take care of you until I can get us back to them. I promise, Allie. I know that we are usually partners in crime, but I'm still your older brother. I'll take care of you; you can count on me!".
Sprout, Allie, Gords, Gordy and Scotty. Using their most common nicknames was another point to their benefit.
"What happened, Gords? Who parked a Thunderbird on my chest? Everything hurts. My head is killing me.". The sick kid asked.
"Thunderbird on your chest huh? Sounds painful, Sprout! You were seriously injured on a rescue. There was an explosion, that made you hit your head on a metal railing, and then take a nosedive unconscious into the ocean. You, little brother, have not mastered my fantastic fishy ability to swim while sleeping. All jokes aside, you almost drowned, Allie! You are not allowed to do that ever again! Now rest, you need it. I got you, little bro!" The probable version of him, told his little brother, who sealed the deal with an FAB.
Points, points, points. Gordon didn't need to keep count anymore. This was officially the craziest day on the job ever. The only logical conclusion Gordon could come to, was that those two kids probably were an alternative version of himself and his little brother. He needed some time to wrap his head around it. He stealthily left his probably counterpart with his brother, and went back to his own, Scott and Virgil in the cockpit of Thunderbird two.
