Chapter 11 The Meeting
"Whoa! What did I do now?" Bree asks via video call. "You blurted about that I was dating Wyatt and now my mom wants to meet him tonight!" Eliza says. "Oh, right. I said I was sorry I just was so excited for you." Bree says. "I know, I just- this is a lot for me, and my anxiety is through the roof." Eliza says. "Okay Eliza breathe, it will be fine as long as he doesn't have any crazy relatives it should all go great." Bree says. "Yeah, he's got an older sister who is super overprotective, and she really doesn't like me." Eliza says. "Well, that changes things." Bree says with a frown. "Yeah, no kidding." Eliza says. "Well, Wyatt likes you so that's a plus, right?" Bree asks. "True I'm just worried about him meeting my mom." Eliza says. "Why? Your mom doesn't judge too harshly." Bree asks confused. "Forget it I'm overthinking again." Eliza says shaking her head.
"You kinda are, and besides what's the worst that could happen?" Bree asks. "His sister really doesn't like; she might scratch my eyes out." Eliza says. More like claw my eyes out. "I don't think Wyatt would let that happen." Bree says. "I know that." Eliza says. "Good, so how much time do you have?" Bree asks. "Lots of time, and no I don't need help choosing what I'm going to wear." Eliza says. "Fine, I won't interfere this time." Bree says. "I'm going to de-stress and work on my invention for the Science Fair." Eliza says. "I should get started on mine as well thankfully they pushed it back this year." Bree says. "Too far, it's the week before graduation." Eliza says rolling her eyes. "I know but we can do it! I have to go my mom wants my help with her latest craft." Bree says. "Bye Bree." Eliza says Bree waves and ends the call.
Eliza sighs and goes upstairs to her room pulling out all her blueprints she resketches her design until is how she wants it. Then she starts adding color to the different bans all 8 in total. Since she's not a welder she knows she going to have to ask Zed's dad to help make them. Which won't be too hard since he's meeting with Mayor Well's on Monday, and she only know this because Zed told her when she dropped him off.
Happy with what she accomplished she puts her blueprints away and goes downstairs to eat brunch. She watches the news and sees just how close the workers are getting to Wyatt's home. I hope Mayor Wells likes my idea so instead of cutting down these trees we can make more because almost half the forest is destroyed. She turns off the TV, cleans her dish, and goes upstairs to take a nap she sets a timer on her phone, so she'll have plenty of time to shower and change clothes.
Time skip brought to you by Eliza's anxiety
Eliza wakes up sweating and breathing fast. Wow okay I need to calm down I know what I need, a shower. Eliza gets out of bed and grabs her clothes and heads to her shower. The minute she turns the water on she instantly relaxes. When she's done, she changes into her clothes and brushes her teeth. After she fixes her hair, she heads downstairs she finds her mom already sitting on the couch.
"Are you ready to go?" Margret asks. "As ready as I'll ever be." Eliza says. The duo leaves their house and take Eliza's car and they head to the forest. It takes about 20 minutes to get there. She pulls into parking lot and gets out. Margret though confused follows suit.
"I thought you we were going to his house." Margret says. "We are we can't get there by car, but I promise that it's close." Eliza says not lying for once. "Well, alright lead the way." Margret says. Eliza heads to the spot where she always meets Wyatt. When they arrive, Wyatt is sitting on the stump waiting.
"Good evening, Mrs. Zmith Eliza. I'm Wyatt Lykensen." Wyatt greets.
"Good evening." Margret says.
"Hi, Wyatt." Eliza says.
"You both look great; come this way everyone is waiting." Wyatt says leading them both to the den which is lit up just for tonight. Once inside, he leads them over to his mom and sister. "This is my mother Winona and sister Willa." Wyatt says.
"It's nice to meet you please have a seat we are going to be eating soon." Winona says and gestures to the giant long table in the back of the den. As they take their seats Margret looks around nervously.
"Eliza what exactly are they?" Margret asks deathly calm.
"So, to interrupt but were Werewolves!" Wynter yells. Margrets eyes widen in shock. "Too much?" Wynter asks.
"Yes, too much Wynter, mom are you okay?" Eliza asks. "Is what she said true?" Margret asks. "Yes, it is." Eliza says. "How did this happen?" Margret asks.
"I can help with that; I startled your daughter in the forest." Wyatt starts, "I had to make sure she didn't tell anyone because if our secret got out, we would be tested on or worse." Wyatt says.
"And we want to keep it that way." Willa says.
'So, this is why you didn't tell me. For their safety." Margret says.
"Yes, I didn't want to cause them anymore problems then they already had." Eliza says.
"What other problems are there?" Margret asks.
"Our Moonstone is a gift from the heavens given to us and without it we would all perish. Half of our pack is already sick because our Moonstone is starting to lose its light." Winona says, "And with the forest being cut down the chances of us being exposed evening with your daughter knowing is high." Winona says as she sits down.
"I see so where is the rest of your pack or are you all that is left?" Magret asks.
Winona, Willa, Wyatt and Wynter all howl. The rest of the pack emerges from the outside of the den.
"Oh, my." Margret says. "Mom, I know this is a lot to take in, but you really can't tell anyone about this." Eliza says. "Do Addison, Bree, and Zed know?" Margret asks. "Addison and Bree know that Wyatt exists, but not about who or what he is." Eliza says not making eye contact with Wyatt or Willa.
"We'll that is good, but please Margret, I ask you not to tell anyone." Winona
"Mom we can't risk Bucky trying to use them against me for something either." Eliza says, causing her mother to remember that Bucky humiliated her at her own ceremony.
"Your right, if my daughter can keep her promise so can I." Margret says.
"Great! Now let's eat!" Wynter pips in the werepups howl in unison.
"Wynter!" Wyatt yells.
"What the issue is resolved and I'm hungry. We all are." Wynter says.
"Even so, you were raised with better manners." Winona says as the other werewolves bring out the food. Willa rolls her eyes playfully. As the plates of food are placed on the table Eliza and her mother see that they are the only two with silverware. Eliza looks to Wyatt for an answer.
"Sliver burns us that's why there's hardly any here." Wyatt says. Willa huffs.
"You would think since she's so smart she'd know that." Willa muttered.
"Willa, enough." Winona growls softly.
"I'm glad she asked this time instead of making assumptions." Wyatt says looking at Eliza and winking. She playfully slaps his shoulder which he laughs at.
After that they all eat in silence, well as silent as it can get when you're eating with a pack of wolves.
"That was delicious." Margret says then takes the silverware and wraps it in a napkin and puts it in her purse. "This way you don't have to touch them again." Margret says. Winona smiles and the pair talk off to the side. Bonzo and Wynter play with the werepups, and Willa disappears. Wyatt takes Eliza's hand and leads her out of the den.
"So, you friends know a little about me?" Wyatt says wiggling his eyebrows. "Yeah, they do." "Well as long as there all good things then no problem." Wyatt says. "Right." Eliza says then she looks up at the moon.
"Why, did you bring me out here?" Eliza asks. "If there was one thing that Willa is right about, we don't really know each other. And I want to fix that." Wyatt says. "Okay, so we play 20 questions?" Eliza asks. "How does it work?" Wyatt asks. "One of us asks a question and the other answers, very simple." Eliza says. "Okay, you start." Wyatt says.
1) How old are you?
"Wow you don't beat around the bush. I'm 17 Willa is a year older than me. You?" Wyatt says.
"I'm 17 no siblings. Your turn." Eliza says.
2) What is your favorite color?
"It depends on the day, but Teal for sure. And you?" Eliza asks.
"It's gray and on the lighter side." Wyatt says.
3) What's your favorite game?
"Definitely playing hide 'n' seek with the werepups." Wyatt says with a smile.
"Cool. I like playing war it's a card game." Eliza explains.
4) Favorite food?
"You haven't had it yet, Chicken Alfredo." Eliza says.
"I'm torn between pizza and the turkey sandwich." Wyatt says.
5) Favorite hobby?
"Cloud watching, what it's relaxing." Wyatt says.
"Sorry, I didn't expect that. I like star gazing." Eliza says.
6) Day or night?
"I could go either way." Eliza says.
"Same here." Wyatt says.
7) What other supernatural's exist?
"I had a feeling, and if I'm honest I don't know. Bonzo told me he met a mermaid once, but I haven't seen one." Wyatt says.
"Just wondering." Eliza says.
8) Lightsaber or a Phaser?
"Definitely a lightsaber double one white and one green." Eliza says.
"You really put thought into it. I could go with either both are cool." Wyatt says.
9) Favorite animal?
"Hyena their laugh is creepy but cool." Wyatt says.
"Dolphins are mine." Eliza says.
10) Have you ever dated someone before?
"Now look at who's getting personal. No, I haven't. What about you?" Eliza asks.
"Once, it was a wolf from another pack it lasted a few weeks before I ended it." Wyatt says. "What happened?" Eliza asks. "She found out that our Moonstone was dying she wanted me to be with her and her pack, but I wasn't going to leave my family." Wyatt says. "Wow, I'm sorry." Eliza says. "Don't be, besides, it led me to you." Wyatt says then kisses her on the cheek. Eliza blushes.
"Ahem, Eliza it's time to go you have school in the morning." Margret says. Causing the pair to pull away.
"Mrs. Zmith can I see your daughter tomorrow?" Wyatt asks.
"Fine, but her curfew is 10:30 don't you stay a minute later." Margret says.
"Thank you, mom." Eliza says.
"You're welcome, now come on let's go home." Marget says. Wyatt walks them all the way back to her car.
"See you tomorrow." Wyatt says. "See you then." Eliza says.
"It was nice to meet you Mrs. Zmith." Wyatt says.
"It was nice to meet you too, and please use the front door. No more jumping through my daughter's window." Margret says.
"Yes, ma'am." Wyatt says with a wave then leaves.
Eliza pulls out of the lot, and they head back home.
"He's a nice boy." Margret says after a while. "He is." Eliza agrees. "Just be careful, this would be your first real relationship. And I don't want you to get hurt." Margret says. "Mom, it's been two weeks." Eliza groans. "I know just don't get attached too soon." Margret says. "Okay, subject change. What were you and Winona talking about?" Eliza asks. "She was telling me about her late husband and how much of a big help you have been." Margret says. "Really?" Eliza smiles. "Yes, I'm so proud of you." Margret says.
Eliza pulls us into the driveway and parks they both get out of the car and head inside.
"Goodnight, dear. I know that Missy will approve the cleanup." Margret says.
"Thanks mom." Eliza says. The pair go upstairs and to their rooms knowing they have a long day ahead of them.
As always let me know what you think I enjoy hearing from you all! Until next time...
