Hello everybody. I wanted to get started on this chapter as soon as possible. Before continuing with Lincoln and the gang, I think we should visit the other gang. Been a while since we've seen how they are doing. Haven't really seen these guys since the begging of the Four Nations ark.
Lynn: I was starting to think that you forgot about us.
Lola: What she said.
"I didn't forget you guys, it's just that most of what happens to you was either off screen or really spread out in the original story. (AKA, In the original game Riku, while having a big impact, has a lot of stuff happen off screen. Granted it is small things, but it leaves a lot of his time with Maleficent in mystery. I've mentioned before that a lot of what Riku does early in the game doesn't make a lot of since.) I've been actually trying to think of how to add you guys more in the story.
Clyde: I'm just happy to be here.
"See. Why can't you two be more grateful like Clyde?"
Lynn and Lola both summon their keyblades and point them at me about an inch away. Clyde was looking nervous and didn't know what to do.
"Right. Ummm…why don't we get on with the chapter?"
"We better have some longer moments." Lola threatened.
Chapter 15: Days in Darkness.
(This chapter starts right after their training from the last time we saw them, or the day before Lincoln and his friends go to Aang's world.)
"I'm tired after all that training. And to think that was only the first day." Clyde said as he and the girls went back to their room.
"You said it Clydesdale. Even I'm worn out. I can't wait to see what tomorrow will be like." Lynn smiled.
"I hope this doesn't take too long. I want to find Lana and the others as soon as possible." Lola pouted. While it was true that training with these keyblades was a step closer to finding their family, she really didn't like this place. Or their apparently new mentor for that matter. He saved them yes, but even she could tell that man had some kind of ulterior motives that he wasn't telling them.
"Don't worry Lola. We'll find them. We've only been here for what, two weeks now? And we only got these keyblades yesterday." Clyde tried to reason. During their time here he has really used that training with Lincoln on how to be a good older sibling. How he wished they could go back to those days.
"Clyde's right Lola. We have to be patient and hope for the best."
'It's not like we have much of a choice.' Lynn thought to herself. She has been keeping up the tuff act for her sister, but she hasn't been able to keep it up forever. Whenever she was by herself, or even if she was just with Clyde, she would let the mask down. So much had changed. She couldn't stop thinking of what all has happened since arriving in this castle.
"Well let's go get something to eat." Clyde said grabbing Lola's hand. He led her to the dinning area Lynn following close behind watching her friend and sibling. Leaving her to her own thoughts.
Apparently, the day when they lost their home, she disappeared before everyone else. The whole family was looking for her and Ronnie Anne before it was swallowed by the darkness. But she had no memory of the night. Only remembering going to bed after hanging out with everyone in the hotel room. Next thing she knew she woke up with a headache in that waterfall area with Clyde and Lola next to her.
With the exception of Lola all her siblings were gone. They were told that there is a very good chance that many of them may never be found, but she wouldn't give up hope. There have been many nights she couldn't sleep having nightmares of what could have happened to her sisters, brother, and parents.
Speaking of her brother and a specific sister, they both apparently had the keyblades as well. At one point all of them were on the roof of the hotel to see of they could spot her or Ronnie Anne. That was when some giant creature, that they now know is a heartless, came out and attacked them. With Lincoln defending all of them. Clyde excitedly told her how Lincoln looked like a hero out of a video game. Lynn asked how Lana apparently got the keyblade and Clyde went silent. Any excitement in him immediately gone. He looked at Lola who had been quiet the whole time during the retelling of what happened that night. She nodded at Clyde signaling that he was okay to tell Lynn with her in the room. Lynn became very concerned at this. Even more so when he emphasized that Lana was okay the last moment, they saw her. Lynn almost wasn't sure if she wanted to hear what happened. But she told Clyde to just tell her.
She ran to the bathroom feeling like she was going to throw up afterwards. Clyde consoled her and made sure to remind Lynn that the last time they saw her Lana was fighting with Lincoln. Any injury she might have received apparently healed. Lynn took a few deep breaths and thanked Clyde for talking to her. She then proceeded to hug Lola to comfort the both of them.
One of the few good things that was came out of this was Clyde being here. She honestly was not sure if she could have handled everything that has happened without him. Not only did he act a source of comfort for Lola, something she has never been good at, but also for herself. She told herself she would be strong and unafraid for the two off them. She kept herself together for Lola, partially to keep up hope and moral for all of them, but also to not have Lola panic more than she had been in the first few days they were here. She was the protector, defender of her family, their shield. She would not stop now. But like many shields, she would crack. Particularly after some of her more terrifying nightmares. She would wake up in a cold sweat and sometimes scream the name of the sibling that was in danger before waking up. An often one she had was of Lana after hearing how she sacrificed herself to save Lucy and Lily. Yes, she ended up being fine, but it was still hard to imagine. She tried not think about too much less she wanted to get sick.
"Diner actually looks pretty good." Lola commented in an almost sarcastic tone.
"Lola, we talked about the complaining." Clyde chimed. They may be here against their will, more or less, but Clyde knew that they should be polite to the person feeding them. Thankfully he was not in the room.
"I was being polite." The six-year-old princess defended.
"We've talked about being passive aggressive as well." Clyde replied. "Right Lynn?" Clyde asked trying to get the older sister to join him.
"Huh? Oh yeah. Please listen to Clyde Lola. He 's basically the king of table manners." Lynn commented only half paying attention as her thoughts continued to wonder.
Thankfully Lola has always been a heavy sleeper and somehow, she hasn't woken her younger sister up. Unfortunately, at first, Clyde was not, and she accidently woke him up when the first nightmare happened. It was the third night they had been here. Clyde was startled awake by her sudden scream and asked what was wrong. Of course, Lynn tried to lie and downplay what actually happened, but Clyde saw right through her lies. As someone who used to have nightmare all the time and went to therapy, he was able to easily tell what was happening. He offered to listen to Lynn if she wanted to talk. He didn't force it. Lynn, still recovering from the nightmare, said she would consider it. She would have a almost six more nightmares spread out over the next three days and finally caved. She knew she couldn't keep going on like that. So, every night after Lola went to bed, Lynn would talk to Clyde, about her nightmares, fears, how much she missed everyone, how it was harder to go to sleep with out Lucy sighing in the room, even how she felt like she failed as a sister not being there with everyone else. It felt good to talk about it.
"I wonder what the training will be like tomorrow?" Clyde pondered as they got ready for bed.
"Who knows." Lola shrugged. "Maybe I can work more on my magic."
"Only if we can as well." Lynn commented before going silent again.
In turn Clyde would listen and reassure her when he could and talk about similar things as he had nightmares as well but no where near as often. He also had ways of calming himself down, Lynn was starting to think that maybe therapy was not a bad thing. Clyde would also listen to Lola about any problems she had. Which given the circumstances was a lot. There were many nights Lola cried herself to sleep with either Clyde or Lynn, sometimes both, soothing her till sleep did take over. Clyde would listen and reassure the youngest of the three. He would tell her how he often felt the same so that she wasn't alone. Something Lynn would have done the exact opposite of. She would have pulled the whole 'unafraid hero act.' Which she was doing, but with Clyde it was more evened out.
"So, if I'm the fire user what are you two?" Lola joked.
"I feel like I would be ice." Clyde thought,
"Definitely thunder. Or lightning. Are those two different things when it comes to magic?" Lynn asked genuinely unsure. She laughed at how much she sounded like Lincoln.
She wasn't sure why, maybe because of the situation they were in, maybe because she had no one else to turn to, but Lynn was being a lot more open with her feelings. She knows very well that she would normally hide emotions like this, but she had been hit with so much information in one day and spending the next just processing it. After that the days before they were given their keyblades passed by in a daze. The only eventful moments being her talks with Clyde. She's ninety-nine percent certain that if Clyde wasn't here, she would have broken down after the first couple nightmares. While talking to him hasn't stopped them completely, they have gone down drastically in both frequency and intensity. Now there was only about one or two nightmares a night, and if he didn't wake up, Lynn had permission to wake him up to talk to him if it was bad enough. She really hated just crying herself back to sleep. It did nothing to help.
The first week and a half was of learning about other worlds, exploring a little bit of the castle that was currently their own, and eventually learning about the keyblades. The night they were given the power was the first night that all three of them slept peacefully hope filling all of them. They hoped that it would be like that from now on.
It wouldn't be.
(The next day; same day Lincoln's gang show up on the avatar world.)
After waking up from yet another nightmare, this time one of Lola being overrun by Heartless and her and Clyde unable to reach her, Lynn decided to walk around a little bit before waking up Clyde. With how active she usually is walking around helped calm her nerves. Now that she had a weapon to fight with, maybe she could go take some of those heartless out. They were told that this world was attacked by Heartless very often. But their 'hero' was able to keep the majority and the worst from getting in. He would normally deal with any stragglers himself but saw them as the perfect training dummies. He would watch nearby if things got out of hand.
Walking out of the library and into the foyer she summoned her keyblade just as the Darkball heartless appeared.
"AHHHHHHHHHHH!" Lynn screamed in rage slashing through three Darkballs at once taking them out in one hit. She made quick work of the rest in the room, the most challenging being a heartless called a Defender. It was shaped like a feline, apparently having two heads. Except one head was held in front of the other as an impenetrable shield that made attacking it in the front would never work. She would either have to get above or behind. She jumped over just has it fired a fireball at her getting a clear view of it's second, much smaller head.
'Both options work too.' She grinned quickly swopping down for the kill. In a few hits the Defender was gone disappearing to dust. Feeling a little bit better she walked back to the bedroom to wake up Clyde…
Only to find him standing in front of the doorway to the room with a frown on his face. "I thought we agreed you would tell me when you needed to go take a walk?" He asked rhetorically. He seemed to suspect that she may have done more than that based on how worn out she looked.
That was another thing that had changed since coming here. Clyde had gotten a lot more confident in the short time they had ben here. Whether if it was because of the keyblade, his way of coping with the situation, or even a combination of both, she didn't know. But this confident Clyde was not afraid to confront the sport girl like he once was.
"I didn't want to bother you. I was going to wake you up when I got back anyways." She defended making sure not to raise her voice.
"Lynn we barely know anything about this place. You have to tell us when you are heading out on your own." Clyde reasoned.
"Okay, okay. I'm sorry. I promise not to do that again." She knew it was important that the three of them got along and communicated with each other to survive. Sometimes she would forget that she doesn't have to be on her own. That she doesn't have to hide, from at least one person.
"Want to talk about your nightmare?" Clyde asked knowing that was the exact reason she was up.
Lynn sighed but nodded. "It was Lola this time. She was being overrun by heartless and I…we couldn't reach her in time. I saw her get completely swallowed up by darkness and then woke up. Compared to some of the others it was mild, but still scared me."
"That's understandable. So, you decided to go get some of the heartless in the castle as revenge?" Clyde said as a question but with the tone of knowing full well that is what she did.
"Were you planning on becoming a therapist before all this? Cause if not you still should."
"Don't change the subject, but yes it was a possibility for when I got older."
"….Yes. I went to the foyer and took out a small group. I needed to clear my mind."
"Well people do often find being able to take their anger out on something, especially something that can't talk back, very stress relieving. I remember hearing that it can actually be healthy to have a punching bag or go into something like boxing." Clyde thought over.
"So do you think it's fine if I hunt those things?" Lynn asked hopeful. She wanted Clyde to agree. They couldn't afford to argue all the time.
"Well like I said, that was usually with punching bags, which I bet you used to use." Clyde guessed which got a nod from Lynn. Clyde knew that their options were limited and that anyway for Lynn to vent out her anger when she can't talk about it would be better than nothing. "Okay, I think this may actually help. On the terms that you tell me when you are going out to fight heartless." Clyde finally decided.
"That seems fair. And since we are up, I have to ask Clyde, where is all this confidence coming from? I've never seen you like this before."
"Well, I'm stuck in a castle with two of the most intimidating Loud sisters out of your family. No offense. So, It I think it's safe to say that a lot of this newfound confidence comes from you. Your one of the most confident people I know so I kind off started copying that." Clyde quietly explained slightly blushing. He was looking away embarrassed, so he didn't see the blush on Lynn's face that she quickly had disappear.
"So, you're saying that you've been channeling your 'inner Lynn'?" She joked.
"Hehe. That is certainly a way of putting it. The way you have been able to be so strong since we got here, I wanted to not seem so weak. I wanted to be able to help." Clyde explained.
"Clyde, I don't think I need to tell you that you're strong in your own Clydesdale way. The way you've been able to help keep Lola calm, talk to her when she's in trouble, I don't think I could ever do that. You know that before ending up here that I have trouble expressing my emotions." She has told him as much during one of their talks.
"Yeah. But you are getting better. That's what is important. So why don't we head back to bed. We both need a little more sleep. Have to be prepared for any kind of training." Clyde said yawning at the end.
"Careful Clyde, your 'inner Lynn' is showing again." Lynn teased as she would normally be the one to bring up training of any kind. Lynn walked back into the not seeing Clyde blush again as he quickly followed. Both looked over to see Lola still asleep and they went to their respective beds.
(A few hours later)
Waking up once again, this time with out the nightmares, Lynn got ready for the day. She went to the bathroom first and took a warm shower enjoying the peace. One of the perks of being a morning person is that you can get some alone time. Granted she normally doesn't like being alone but the quiet was nice from time to time. After putting on some new cloths she went to the sink and splashed some cold water on her face to wake herself up some more. She reached for a hand towel and dried her face. Looking back at the mirror she almost screamed.
"W-what?!" She exclaimed. Looking at her reflection at first nothing seemed wrong. Her hair obviously needed to be brushed but that wasn't the problem. It was her eyes.
Her eyes, normally brown, were a scary shade of yellow with black in the center. 'What is happening?!' She thought to herself. She rubbed her eyes to check if she was seeing things. When she looked back at the mirror her eyes were their normal brown color. 'That was just my imagination. Eyes can't just change colors like that.' Lynn reassured herself. Deciding to put whatever happened in the back of her mind, she continued on with her morning routine.
After getting ready for the day, she goes back to the room to wake up her sister and Clyde. Despite one being a light sleeper and the other being a heavy sleeper both liked to sleep in. Lynn was actually very surprised to learn that Clyde was not a morning person, regardless they had to keep a somewhat normal schedule. It was the only thing that got them through most of the days.
"Rise and shine sleepy heads!" Lynn yelled. Both to wake them up and to put her mask back up. She can't look weak in front of Lola.
"Five more minutes." Lola complained.
"Come on sis. We need to go get breakfast. Besides you can't sleep all day." Lynn laughed picking up the small girl.
"Nooooo!" Lola dramatically sighed. She wasn't actually upset; she just took a minute or two to fully wake up. And a princess should be allowed as much.
"Come on Lola. The sooner we eat the sooner we can get to training again." Clyde said. It may only be the third day since they got their keyblades, but training was becoming one of their favorite things to do. Mostly because there was not much else to do.
"You have a good point, Clyde." Lola said jumping out of Lynn's arms. She hugged her sisters legs and then proceeded to do the same to Clyde. Something she had been doing for a while now. Neither Clyde nor Lynn questioned it, but they were pretty sure she was just glad to have two people so close to her here with her. And that she didn't want to lose them. They all lost their family, but Lola is only six. Clyde was sure that everything that has happened was the most traumatizing to her than anyone else. The fact that she doesn't seem to have has many nightmares actually worried him. Cause whenever she did, they were bad. Most of them were about Lana when she saved Lucy and Lily. Lola wouldn't always wake up with a scream. Sometimes she would just wake up crying trying not to wake up the others. When Clyde and Lynn found out about that after the first week, they made sure to tell her that she could wake either of them to talk if she needed to. So far, she has done that once to each of them. A couple other times one of them would be waken up by her scream, often waking them up from their own nightmares. But for the most part she seems to be keeping to herself with many of her fears. With the exception of when Clyde would talk to her. But she seemed reluctant at most to talk most of the time.
"So, what is the plan for today?" Lola asked as she took a bite of her food.
"I am glad you asked." Their host said floating into the room. "I believe all of you should start by working on your magic powers today." He said looking at Lola. "You have already accessed fire magic, but there are many elemental attacks you must learn. The stronger you become the more magic you can use. So, finish up so you can start." He spoke.
"Alright you don't have to rush us." Lynn said. She was trying to sound like she was joking but you could still hear the sarcasm in her voice. Despite everything he has done, all three kids had trouble completely trusting this guy. Something just seemed off. But there wasn't much else they could do. And he hasn't done anything to not gain their trust. Everything just seemed to go too well for them ever since they got here.
Minus the trauma and nightmares obviously.
"Have you found anything about our families?" Clyde asked. They made sure to ask him whenever they could.
"Unfortunately, no. There are too many worlds out there. As I said before it could take me a long time to find even one family member." Little did the three know that he has been keeping track of Lincoln and Lana. Not constantly. But enough to know what worlds they were going to. Soon Azula would be facing them and hopefully she would capture them.
"Dang it." Lola pouted knowing that there was not much else to say. Clyde and Lynn both walked over to Lola and gave her a hug and the trio went on to eat their breakfast in silence.
Once they were done, they followed their host to a large circular room. They had to get in through a portal. The room was huge. In both wall to wall and the floor to the ceiling. Clyde's best guess was this must have been the tower of the castle that could be seen from the outside.
"This will be the perfect area for you to practice your magic. I believe a good starting point may be to start with ice magic. It is not much harder than fire."
"Alright!" Clyde cheered. He really wanted to try this magic. Had to have something to look forward too anyways. Lola and Lynn smiled also excited to learn for once.
'We will get stronger. And then we will find all of you.' Lynn thought to herself. That was her promise. What was holding her together. She would find their families, no matter what.
(Two days later. Same day that Lincoln and friends get trapped in the phantom zone)
The next two days were more or less the same. They trained and trained almost non-stop. There was not much else to do. And considering that it was the only way that they could leave, no one was complaining.
Today something else happened. Their host had to go talk to one of his 'associates' while they were training. He wasn't gone for long but when he came back, he seemed to be complementing something. Watching them continue to spar one-on-one. They would take turns switching out. Clyde and Lynn would fight first, one focused on strength and the other focused on defense. It was a surprisingly even match at first. Lynn was able to quickly overwhelm Clyde however because of her natural strength and fighting skills she had before getting the keyblade.
Lola was next. Lynn told herself she would go easy. It was just practice and Lola was really small. Lola however used that to her advantage. The keyblade granted her speed like never before that greatly made up for the lack of height. She was also able to jump pretty high now, just above Lynn's head. Lola's moves were quick but weak since she focused more on magic. Overall, she was pretty balanced but didn't have a particular fighting style. She just looked for any opening on Lynn and went there. Lynn was able to block and counter most of the attacks with a few getting past her because Lola's speed. Lynn would have to teach how to string combos better. Lynn eventually won but she had to put up more of a fight than she thought she would. On the bright side she got to practice blocking magic spells.
While really cool, the three of them found the keyblades really weird. They were strong weapons, apparently made to fight against the heartless or 'darkness' in general. They were effective in that part. But when fighting against other people, they noticed how despite being made of metal, the keyblades were very dull and didn't hurt as much as you would think. Lynn almost thought she knocked Clyde out after accidently hitting in the head, but the boy didn't fall, and barley staggered! They were told this was because the keyblades are magical, and one such benefit from this was that it did not act as a normal sword when fighting an ally or even a human enemy. They could still seriously injure someone, if not worse, but instead of acting like the blunt object they look like, they more or less drain the energy of your opponent until they can not fight anymore. Going beyond that…. was something the three tried not to think about. Epically since they hoped the only think they would have to fight was the heartless.
Clyde couldn't help but think of it has a video game where you have to deplete the HP (Health Points) of bosses. Which Lynn realized was actually a really good comparison.
Their host seemed to decide on something after their sparing matches. He told them that training was done for the day and told them all to leave except for Lynn. He needed to speak to her alone. The three were confused by this but Lynn told Lola and Clyde to go back to the room and that she would meet up shortly.
"So, what do you want?" She asked trying to sound nonsuspicious.
"I only wanted to congratulate you. You are becoming quite the capable fighter."
"Thanks. I'll admit that even I am surprised at how well I'm getting the hang of it." Lynn said accepting the compliment. She may not be as egocentric as she was back home but that doesn't mean she won't accept a compliment.
"Yes, you and the other two are making great strides. Which is why I have a test for you." He said floating to her side.
"A test? What kind of test?" Lynn asked confused. The man walked back in front of her and turned around to meet eye to eye.
"I will tell you. But first, you will listen to every command I say." He said snapping his fingers activating the spell that let him control the three. He could activate on all three or just one of them at will. Lynn, who was giving him an annoyed stare wondering if she could go and tapping her foot against the floor, suddenly stopped her movement and her stare became blank as she waited to be told what to do. After his talk with Plasmius and the sparing matches, he thought that Lynn would be the best one to send to get the princess. The fact it was someone close to her would be a problem, but with the spell it will be fine. She was clearly the strongest of the three and it may require someone with a lot of stamina to do what is needed. After the failure of Azula, he could not afford another.
"Now miss Lynn, I have your first assignment for you. I will be sending you to a new world where a Princess of Heart has taken temporary refuge. You must find and capture her without being spotted. Your target I believe is someone you know very well. You will leave tomorrow to find her. Until then this conversation never happened. Do you understand?" He told the young girl showing her an image of her target.
Lynn stood there, almost hesitant to answer. But any resistance was quickly taken away as the command was finished. She replied with only two words.
"Yes, Aku."
End
Well, that was…something. We had a lot to catch up on with this group. I wanted to really try to capture what these three are going through. Lynn especially. This is by far one of the darkest chapters I have made. Originally this was supposed to be with the next part for Spector Town, but it ended up being longer than I thought it would be and it feels like it should be its own chapter. I also was not a 100% certain with this chapter and how these three would react to being this situation. I know Lynn may have seemed to cave in a little too quickly, but I honestly think that with everything she knew, what she was told, and the looming fear of not finding her family, she would do anything to relieve some of the pressure. And talking to Clyde was her only option besides not talking at all. All three of them are suffering from nightmares and would defiantly have trauma after everything that has happened.
Also finally got the main villain name drop! Aku from Samurai Jack! It felt like with what this chapter tackled and the fact it is chapter 15, it was time. And I'm pretty sure my longest readers already knew who this was or at least suspected it.
With that said let's get to the comments.
RonaldM40196867: Things will get crazy. And yes, the story will have a sequel. I already have worlds picked out for Loud Hearts 2 and other stories.
Von the Unstoppable: I do technically have a Loud Hose superhero story that is a sort of a crossover. Need to start working on that one again. But no not really. Would you like one?
Gundamvid: It does doesn't?
Gamelover41592: Thank you it is good to be back. And uh oh indeed.
Theheroneeded: We will have to wait when they met Danny. And as for other ghost, they may meet some good or bad ones.
jeremiahkelley93: Thank you.
HEROS Central: I think we will meet the Dalmatians during the next Traverse Town visit. I'll look at those shows. Thank you.
Mazipan-3: Yeah, this is definitely going to hit the team hard. I thought I made who hired Skulker obvious. And technically he wasn't supposed to kidnap Star, he was supposed to get Lana. He got them mixed up at first and realized it would be easier to take the already unconcise captive.
Bennyboy20088: I'm glad you like the story overall. I know Ronnie Anne is not everyone's favorite character but that would happen no matter who the character was. I'll have to check out your Wattpad.
Cure Crystal: I already have this story planned out world wise. But there will be plenty of other stories. So, I will gladly listen to any suggestions. Leave them in the comments or DM me.
Monkey D. Conan: I'm glad you really like this story. I try to have effect the world as best as possible. I like the team names. Some of them really do sound like something either Lincoln or Steven would come up with.
There we go. I really hope you guys like this chapter. I know it is a little short compared to some others on this story. But that means I can work on other stories. Have a good spring break for those in school.
