Chapter 26: The Battle for Beacon Part One
It didn't take that long for Mercury and Batman to begin their fight as Mercury lauched himself to the air and launched a flying kick at Batman. At the same time the dark knight of Atlas has launched for a punch and the two of them clash sending a shockwave creating cracks on the wall. Mercury then flip back and landed on the ground for a moment while Batman stepped back for a bit.
Mercury then went at Batman and threw a couple of jabs st him but the dark crusader had put his arms up and managed to block Mercury quick punches. Mercury then spund around to try to kick Batman but Batman ducked and quickly did a sweeping kick at Mercury causing the silver hair boy to trip and land on the ground hard.
Batman then jumped in the air and tried to kick at Mercury while he was on the ground but the grey haired follower of Cinder rolled out of the way causing Batman to land on where he was standing. Mercury then gained some distance and shot wind dust bullets from his legs at Batman. But the dark crusader turned invisible dodging the attacks.
"Tch that invisibility semblance if his" Mercury said as he looked around trying to find Batman this space was small so he should still be here unless he got away but Mercury doubted that was the case. Mercury felt something and he turned around and kick what he thought was Batman but he saw that nobody was there. He then heard a beeping sound and he looked over and saw something was on his back.
"Ah Shi-" Mercury said as he was electrocuted "AHHHHHH!" Mercury said as he wss shocked he fell onto one knee.
Mmercury tried to get up but he was paralyzed a bit but as he tried to get up Batman was already in front of him and he punched Mercury square in the jaw knocking him back a couple of feet on the ground.
"Last chance Black either you answer my previous questions and have a few bruises once your behind bars or we can do this the hard way" Batman calmly said he was standing in front of Mercury.
Mercury stood back up as he glared at Batman ""screw you" he said.
"Fine have it your way" Batman said as he ran up to Mercury and threw a couple of punches but Mercury kept dodging and blocking the punches he then kneed Batman in the chin and kicked him in the stomach knocking him back. But Mercury didn't let up as he ran up to Batman and tried to kick him in the head but to Mercury surprise Batman managed to block his attack by grabbing his leg.
Batman then narrowed his eyes he then swung Mercury around a bit and threw him, and Mercury crashed back first into the wall.
"So that's how you were able to fool everyone you have prosthetic legs that's made from metal you weren't hurt at all and your partner Emerald she must have use her semblance to create a illusion making everybody think that Yang injured you" Batman said.
"Well look who is being the detective" Mercury said.
"Talking to you would be pointless and since I don't have the time to deal with you I need to end this quickly" Batman said as he took out eight round balls from his tool belt and he threw them on the ground and they exploded creating a huge cloud of smoke in the area.
"A smokescreen!" Mercury said as he started to look around for Batman but Mercury was thrown back as he felt a punch on his face, He then felt like he was being kicked in the back which caused the son of Marcus Black to stumble a bit. He then got uppercutted as he was launched in the air but he felt his arms wad being held and he got punched in the face and he was sent flying and landed roughly on the floor.
Mercury saw the smoke clearing up as he tried to get up but he was pinned down what felt like a foot and he saw Batman turned visible while he was pinning Mercury down with his foot.
"Ah you coward why won't you face me like a man" Mercury said.
"A coward is somebody who runs away and is not cut out for the challenges ahead of them I'm just using my head in battle and using it to outsmart and beat you" Batman said as he stopmed Mercury again causing the young man to scream out in pain.
"Now then are you going to tell me who your boss is and where can I find her also why were you targeting Beacon in the first place" Batman said.
Mercury only laughed "its like I said Bats your already too late!" Mercury said as he disappeared.
"What!" Batman said as he looked around for Mercury but there was no sign of him.
"An illusion Emerald must have help him escape" Batman thought.
As much as he wants to go after Mercury and Emerald he wanted to make sure that Ruby had stopped the match and warn everybody what was going to happen and possibly help her if she couldn't do it. So with that said Batman left the area to head for the arena.
Meanwhile with Ruby with her semblance she was able to speed through towards the arena while Phyrra and Penny was fighting each other. Ruby then jump and flew down in a burst of rose petals as she landed between Phyrra and Penny.
"My word is that Ruby what is she doing?" Oobleck said.
"That is a very good question is it some sort of prank" Port said.
"Ruby?" Phyrra said as she was surprise and confuse that Ruby appeared in front of them right in the middle of hers and Penny's battle.
"Ruby is something the matter why are you interrupting our match?" Penny asked her friend.
"Listen to me something big is about to happen Vale, Beacon the stadium we might be under attack soon everybody needs to leave now!" Ruby yelled causing the crowd to rumble due to Ruby statement.
Meanwhile at the same time Blake Weiss Willow and Whitley was listening to Ruby statement.
Weiss and Blake stood up "mother Whitley find some place to hide" Weiss said.
"Weiss I can't just leave you-" Whitley started to say but Weiss looked at her younger brother.
"Just do as I say Whitley please!...if What Ruby says is true then this place will be s battleground...I'm counting on you to look after mother" Weiss said.
Whitley gritted his teeth in frustration and clinched his fist he knew that he couldn't do anything...and that he would just get in the way but still he never felt this frustrated he wanted to do more he wants to protect and help people including his family in this moment Whitley never felt more useless.
Whitley then sighed and composed himself "alright be careful Weiss and you too Blake" Whitley said.
"Please be careful you two and make sure you make it alive" Willow said to her daughter and Blake.
"We will" Blake and Weiss said at the same time after that Whitley and Willow to find a area to hide in.
Ironwood got up from his seat as he got a call and it was from Batman and he answered it.
"Ironwood you need to order to people to get out of the stadium and hide somewhere safe I think they're about to make their move I just fought Mercury Black and I have no doubt that he is working for the woman in the mask and possibly Salem as well he and Emerald are responsible for sabotaging the tournament" Batman said.
"Damn it I understand I'm on my way to the booth" Ironwood said as he was about to make his way to the booth.
Meanwhile with Ozpin Qrow and Glynda had already entered his office.
"Oz" Qrow said as Ozpin turned to look at his trustworthy allies.
"There isn't any time to waste Batman must have found out their plans and told Ruby you two need to get to the city as fast as possible now!" Ozpin said to Qrow and Glynda.
Qrow and Glynda nodded as they left his office to head towards the city to get ready for the incoming attack.
At another part of the city Cinder was annoyed the plan was to have Phyrra kill Ironwood little toy which would cause the people to panic even more causing a riot and causing more Grimm to sought out the negativity in the area. But that Ruby girl no...it was Batman he must have warned them about what's about to come. Cinder grunted in frustration she knew that Batman is becoming a huge threat soon either she or her allies will have to kill him soon if she is luck he could die today if possible.
But Cinder pushed her thoughts about Batman to the side besides even if he warned them, it doesn't matter he's already too late to do anything. With that said Cinder pressed the button on her speaker as she took over the broadcast as she decided to send a little message to the people of Vale.
Back at the stadium Ironwood managed to get to the booth where Port and Oobleck the two teachers at Beacon turned their heads to look at the general.
"Ironwood what in the world is going on and do you know why Ruby interrupted the match just now!" Port asked the general and the headmaster of Atlas army and academy.
Before Ironwood could say anything the screens all over the stadium had turned red and at the middle of it was a queen chest piece.
"People of Remnant do you really want to put your turst, your safety and your children. to men who claim to be our guardians but in reality are nothing more then men" Cinder said as she began her speech.
"Our headmaster academies wield more power then most armies and one was audacious enough to control both they cling to this power in the name of peace and what do we have here that standing right on front of us a nation attempt at a synthetic army.. Fighting against a star pupil" Cinder said as Penny and Ruby eyes widen in shock that Cinder basically told millions about Penny being a robot and Phyrra was shocked as well.
"What need would Atlas have for a soldier disguise as a innocent little girl I don't think the Grimm could tell the difference" Cinder said before continuing her speech.
"And what I ask you is what Ozpin is teaching his students potentially trying to injure or maybe kill innocent huntsman and huntressesI, I thought huntsman and huntresses were suppose to carry themselves with honor and mercy and yet I have witness neither" Cinder said.
"Perhaps as though defeating Atlas in the tournment would help people forget his colossal failure at protecting Vale while Grimm invaded the streets" Cinder said.
"Or perhaps this was his message to the tyrannical dictator that has occupied an inspecting kingdom with arm forces" Cinder said.
"Honestly I haven't the slightest clue on to who is right and who is wrong but I know that the existence of peace is fragile and the leaders of our kingdom conduct their business with iron gloves" Cinder said.
"As someone who hails from Mistral I can assure that the situation there is equally undesirable, our kingdoms are on the brink of war yet we the citizens are left in the dark" Cinder said at the same time two Atlas soldiers were being attacked by a large number of Grimm.
"So I ask you when the first shot is fire who do you think you can trust" Cinder said with a smirk as static appeared on the screen.
"Damn it" Ironwood said as he grabbed the microphone "everyone please leave the stadiums we are under attack I repeat leave the stadium now do not panic!" Ironwood announced.
Soon everybody started to leave and run away trying to get out of the stadium as fast as they could but at the same time a giant Nevermore appeared and it was trying to break through the top of the barriers of the stadium.
Batman ran, until he was at the front row seats ,as he saw the giant nevermore on top of the stadium.
"A nevermore it got past the kingdom defenses unless, so that was there plan they are using the Grimm from Mountain Glenn to attack the kingdom" Batman said this wasn't good at all he then tried to contact Alfred.
"Alfred how long until the Batplane and the other plane gets here to Vale?" Batman asked his butler.
"It will still take some time sir maybe twenty or twenty five minutes at best what's going on?" Alfred asked.
"I don't have time to explain Alfred but its just like I predicted we're under attack but I didn't think they would use the Grimm from Mountain Glenn to attack the kingdom" Batman clinched his fist in frustration.
"I'm going ahead Alfred make sure to locate Weiss Whillow and Whitley and make sure they are on that plane" Batman said.
"Yes of course...and please be careful sir" Alfred said as Bruce hung up and he went down to join Ruby and the others.
Ironwood then got a call and he answered it "Ozpin I'm sorry with Penny and" Ironwood said but Ozpin interrupted him.
"You brought your army into my kingdom James use it" Ozpin simply said.
At the same time Nevermores were attacking more Atlas ships.
"Dammit this is blue four, blue two and three fall into defensive position.
"Roger blue three in position" a soldier said to the captain.
"Blue two what's your status, blue two come in, someone answer me dammnit!" the captain said but no one did as Neo killed them all while she was wearing a Atlas uniform she had Go man cane and hat and once she found his cell, Neo opened the door and set her boss free.
"Well its about time" Roman said with a smile on his face.
An Atlas ship turned around and fired at one of the ships with lasers and the ship was going down.
"We're hit what's going-" A captain said as the ship exploded.
"Whohohoho haha haha it is good to be back" Roman said with a smile on his face.
At the same time more ships arrived and it was the white fang and a young man with red hair who was carrying a sword and on the plane they brought a group of white fang members.
"Bring them to their knees" the man said.
Meanwhile at the food section Blake and Weiss were dealing with some Grimm with Blake shooting and slashing down multiple Grimm while Weiss using her glyph increased her speed and and mowed down and killed multiple Grimm as well.
"I can't believe this Blake" Weiss said as she stood her ground next to Blake I'm case more Grimm was attacking.
Blake went to her scroll to call Yang "Yang are you ok?" Blake asked her teammate and best friend.
"I'm fine how is Whitley doing and and is Ruby with you she not answering her scroll" Yang said as she left her dorm room and was heading outside.
"Whitley and Mrs .Schnee are currently hiding in a safe place after Ruby warned us about the attack and Ruby isn't with us she might still be at the stadium" Blake said.
While Yang was glad that Willow and especially Whitley was ok she was still worried about Ruby.
"Yang I'm sure she fine, she our leader she can take care of herself" Blake ressaured Yang.
Yang clinched her fist while she was still worried about Ruby, Blake was right Ruby is strong so she can take care if herself without her.
"Right" Yang said as she left to help the others.
"I tried contacting father but he not answering...this can't be happening" Weiss said shocked at the attack and she is worried about her father.
"I'm heading to the docks near the courtyard white fang are releasing Grimm into the school" Yang said.
"The white fang is here!" Blake said as she narrowed her eyes.
Before. she got a reply she was cut off and all she got was static "Yang!" Blake said.
"Got to go be careful" Yang said as she hung up her scroll.
"What do we do Blake do we keep trying to fight the Grimm here?" Weiss asked.
"It pointless to fight the grimm here the best choice is to go to the docks and stop the white fang from releasing more grimm lets go" Blake said.
Weiss looked at Blake and nodded and with that the two of them headed straight for the docks.
Meanwhile at the same time at the stadium Ruby Phyrra and Penny saw Batman approaching them.
"Batman!" Ruby said as she smiled as she was glad to see the dark night of Atlas.
"Stay focus that Nevermore is going to get past the barriers in a minute or so" Batman said as he handed Ruby some metal balls.
"What this?" Ruby asked.
"Explosive when the nevermore lands and attack us use your semblance to get close to it and throw the explosives at it mouth, they are strong enough to weaken it" Batman then turned to look at Penny and Phyrra.
"Once its weaken I want you two to aim at its head and finish it off with your weapons can I count on you" Batman said.
"Of course Batman you can count on us" Penny said.
"Yes you can we won't let you down" Phyrra said as she got over her shock and had a determined look on her face.
"Good here it comes" Batman said as the Nevermore broke through the
The Nevermore then flew into the stadium and landed in the middle of the arena and roared at Batman Penny Ruby and Phyrra causing a gust a wind and the four of them were blown back a bit.
The Never more then flew straight at them "Now!" Batman yelled after that Ruby leaped and turned into rose petals and once she was close enough to its mouth she threw the explosives into the nevermore and Ruby dodge the attack by going to the side.
Once she landed she saw a huge boom and the Nevermore screamed out in pain and landed on the ground but it was slowly trying to get up.
"Do it!" Batman said as Phyrra jumped up into while Penny flew into the air as they were above the Nevermore. Phyrra with Milo which was a short sword and Penny who turned her swords into a shuriken dove down and slash and cut the Nevermore head off and its head and body dissappered in a bunch of smoke.
"we did it" Ruby said.
"Its not over yet look sharp" Batman simply said as Giffrons Grimm appeared on top of the stadium at the same time multiple lockers appeared in front and the students who appeared at the tournament went and grabbed their weapons and joined Batman group.
"Giffrons" Ren said as everyone took out their weapons and aimed at the Giffrons.
"Anybody got a plan of attack" Neptune said.
A Giffron roared in front of everybody as it dove down but it was shot and flew up in the air because of the shot everybody turned and saw it was Port who shot the Giffron and Oobleck was next to him with his weapon.
"Students I think it would be best for you to leave Batman I trust you will lead them out of here" Port said to the dark crusader but Ruby was against the idea.
"But we can fi" Ruby started to say but Oobleck interrupted her.
"Miss Rose this day will surely go down in Remnant history I'd pefer it if my students could live to tell about it" Oobleck said he then looked at Batman and gave him a nod and Batman nodded back
".Lets go" Batman said as he and the students left the arena as Ruby swung Crescent Rose and placed it down Velvet took another picture of her.
"Velvet" Coco said and Velvet left to join up with her leader.
Port laughed "one final match Barty place your bets" Port said as he and Oobleck were back to back as they began to take on the Giffron.
Meanwhile people were running away and were getting on the ships to leave the stadium however more ships arrived and the Grimm landed in the stadium and the Atlas soldiers fired at the Ursa shooting them down.
But a mature Beowolf appeared and slap a robotic soldier away and rip the other robot soldier. He then looked at lronwood, but Iroonwood glared at it.
Both Ironwood and the Grimm ran at each other and the Beowolf jumped up to swipe at Ironwood with its claws but Ironwood slid down and fired at the Beowolf with his gun witch stund it while Ironwood slid around to face the Beowolf again.
The Beowolf charged at Ironwood again who continue to shoot at the Grimm but the gun shots didn't slow it and Ironwood was force to duck under a claw slash. The general of Atlas then blocked another claw swipe with his arm. He then used his gun to shoot at the Beowolf feet causing the Grimm to go up in the air he then slammed it on the ground and brought it up to him he then shot the Beowolf in the head causing it to fall to the ground and disappear into dust.
Once that was done Ironwood left the area at the same time he was met with the students who competed at the vytal festival and Batman.
"Ironwood what's the situation?" Batman said as he wanted to get a read on what's happening in Vale.
Ironwood sighed "Grimm are crawling all over the city, the white fang has invaded Beacon and to make matter worst some...Vagabond has seized one of my ships until we gain command the skies. are out of our control so I'm" Ironwood drew his gun and shot a Ursa down who snuck up on everybody.
"Going to take it back" Ironwood said as he turned around and was about to get on the ship.
"What should we do?" Jaune causing Ironwood to turn back to face them.
"You have two choices defend your kingdom and your school with Batman at your side or save yourselves" Ironwood said causing everybody to look at each other.
"No one will fault you if you leave Penny stay with the group and help them defend the kingdom if they choose to do so, lets move out" Ironwood said as he got on the ship as he and more ships left the stadium.
"Yes sir general you can count on me" Penny said as she did a salute
Batman then turned his head to look at the students "well you heard him your decision" he asked.
"Come on Batman you should know the answer that" Sun said.
"Lets take a ship to Beacon" Jaune said.
Batman nodded "lets move out" the students were going to another ship expect for Ruby who stood there for a minute.
"Ruby what's on your mind" Batman said to his daughter team leader.
"Batman I think" Ruby was about to say but Batman interrupted her.
"I know its highly likely that somebody most likely that Neo girl help Torchwhick escaped and they are controlling the ship it could be bad if he take control of the robots" Batman said.
"Then what do we do then" Ruby asked.
"Nothing for now lets just hope Ironwood stops him if not I have a plan just for you and Penny now come on lets go to the ship" Batman said as he was heading to the ship with Ruby following him.
"Hmm lets see what-does this button do" Roman said as he pressed a button which caused a explosion.
"Oh fun" Roman said.
"How about this one" Roman said as he pressed another button and he sent some robotic soldiers out of the airship.
"Hmph alright nothing" Roman said as he looked up as Neo have him a scroll
"Oh ho no now this one is going to be fun" Roman said as he fully took control of the ship.
Meanwhile with Glynda and Qrow thanks to their efforts of getting to the city early plus with the robot soldiers they managed to clear the Grimm mostly out the area they were in the soldiers were shooting the Grimm down and another Grimm jump down on the roof but Glynda easily swatted it away with her semblance.
The other Grimm went to attack her but before she could do anything Qrow quickly struck the Grimm down with her to Torchwhick he took control of the robot soldiers and they turned their sights on Glynda and Qrow.
"What!" Glynda said as she was surprise at the display.
As they were leaving. Blake and Weiss saw the robot soldiers turn their sights on them.
"Look out" Blake said as she pushed Weiss down on the ground as they dodged the and Blake then stood up as they drew their weapons as they were facing the robotic soldiers.
At the same time Iroonwood was piloting the ship and the robotic soldiers turned and aimed their weapons at him. Ironwood heard the noise and stood and was shock about the soldiers.
"No!" Ironwood said as a explosion happened on the ship causing it to fall out of the sky preparing to crash and Ruby and everybody was shocked.
"No James" Batman thought he then clinched his fists and he looked at Ruby and Penny.
"Ruby Penny stop Torchwhick now" "yes sir!" both Ruby and Penny said as they left the ship and went outside.
"Ruby turned to look at Penny "Penny do you think you can carry me and take us to Torchwhick ship" Ruby said to her friend.
"of course Ruby that will not be a problem at all" Penny said.
"Then we don't have any time to waste lets go" Ruby said as Penny picked her up bridal style and flew away from the ship and headed. towards the ship Torchwhick was piloting about a few seconds later Penny landed on the ship with Ruby and Penny put Ruby down.
"Lets go Penny" Ruby said as he drew Crescent Rose.
"Of course Ruby I'm ready for battle" Penny said as she drew out her swords.
Roman and Neo then heard Ruby and Penny and Roman grunted a bit "go see what that is" Roman said to his partner in crime.
Neo nodded as she went to check on what caused that noise on the ship after that Roman cracked his neck a bit.
Back to Blake and Weiss, Weiss was striking and speed blitzing the robotic soldiers and kicking them back as well destroying them in the process. The then used a glyph on one and used it as a spring board to jump back to Blake location.
Blake with Gambol Shroud managed to send multiple White Fang members flying but they kept coming but Blake kept slashing and knocking them back until the numbers were too great and a member punched her sending her back a few feet.
Once the White Fang surrounded her Weiss appeared in front of her and pushed them back with her then landed right next to they both saw the Atlas soldiers being overwhelmed by their own Paladin.
"Come on" Weiss said as they were going to help the soldiers until they saw Ironwood ship crashed straight toward the ground and they saw an Alpha Beowolf show up.
"Be safe" Weiss said as her and Blake decided to split up
Blake nodded as her and Weiss split up, Blake turn as she was by the mess hall and she looked and saw the Alpha Beowolf jumped and it was on the wall and it roared. Blake her a scream and she looked in shock as she saw her worst nightmare "no" Blake said as she saw the same red haired man who stabbed somebody.
"Adam?" Blake said.
"Hello my darling" Adam said with a smirk on his face.
Back at Beacon the students were busy fighting off the Grimm and Cinder Emerald and Mercury were watching this all go down.
"Beautiful" Cinder said.
"Its almost sad" Emerald said.
"Its horrendous focus on the Atleasin Knights" Cinder said.
"Ho ho I'm getting all of it but you know our plans was almost runied by Batman" Mercury said as Cinder frowned.
"If I crossed paths with Batman he will die just keep rolling and continue the broadcast until the end" Cinder said.
"There was a rumble causing the building they were standing on to shake.
"You do not want to miss what happens next" Cinder said as she was starting to walk away.
Ozpin who was in his office was watching all of the chaos go down not taking any more of this he then walk from his desk and grabbed his cane he then heard a loud rumble as did Glynda and Qrow from the city.
"No" Glynda said as the rumble continued even from Beacon.
Batman heard the rumbling as well "Alfred what's going on" Batman asked.
"Its coming from Mountain Glenn itself sir I think its a huge dragon grimm" Alfred said.
"What!" Batman yelled as the mountain crumbled and the Dragon Grimm flew out of it and it was heading straight towards Vale , Beacon and it was creating more Grimm in the the students were ready to take on the Grimm as did Phyrra until she saw Phyrra.
"Phyrra" Batman said as he appeared.
"Its time" Batman said.
"I understand lets go Batman" Phyrra said as she and Batman were going to Ozpin.
"Phyrra!" Nora said.
"Wait where are you two going" Jaune said.
"Somewhere that can possibly save everybody lives, you guys keep fighting trust us" Batman said
"Everyone its ok I'll be back I know what I know what I have to do" Phyrra said as she had a determined look on her face.
"Be careful" Jaune said.
Phyrra nodded as she left with Batman however there was one thing on Batman mind and if he knew what Ozpin was doing then he has no doubt Amber attacker the one who has the other half of the fall maiden power is around and she will try to get the power but he won't let that happen and to be honest he is angry and not just her for causing this but at himself for not being able to stop all this destruction.
"You want the fall maidens power then come and take it, if this is a fight you want then it is a fight you'll get I will stop you and make you pay for all of this destruction!" Batman thought as the panel showed him and Cinder as if they were facing each other off Cinder who eyes glowed and Batman who had a determined look on his face as if both of them know this is going to be the final battle and whoever left is standing will win.
A/N: Oh boy what a crazy ride that was haha I hope you guys enjoyed the chapter sorry about not updating for so long hope you guys can forgive me. Anyway the battle at Beacon has begun even with Batman effort he couldn't stop Cinder attack on Beacon but he has not giving up hope the dark knight with his fiery determination and anger at Cinder for causing the destruction at Vale and hurting innocent lives he vows to take her down will he be able to do it. Will Ruby and Penny be able to stop Roman and Neo well those questions and more will be answered in the next chapter of my father.
