"So, I have good news and bad news."
That was the first thing RJ said when he managed to make his way back to the gang with Verne's shell, missing only the can as well as Ozzie and the Porcupine parents.
"The good news is that Verne, I have your shell and even more, it's not cracked!" RJ spoke, handing the shell to Verne, who very quickly put it back on much to the relief of Stella and Heather. "The bad news is that the can is now on a new journey to the junkyard."
"Great, so this game can stop before it gets out of hand." Verne replied, and immediately Stella, Heather, and Hammy looked at him as if Verne had suddenly decided to slaughter one of the triplets in the most vicious way possible. Speaking of which, they were now playing some fighting game on the gamepad.
"What? It's been out of hand ever since that can went through that hedge." Verne continued. "But it's fun Verne, we all want to try out a can of those spuddies!" Heather replied. "Ever since this game started, we've committed several thousand dollars of property damage, my shell ended up on the roof along with several other things, and Ozzie, Lou, and Penny have been stuck in the backyard. Is the taste of Spuddies really worth it?"
"Yes, it is!" Hammy quickly replied. "Really Hammy?" Verne asked. "I mean, less competition for the rest of us…" Stella chimed in. "Am I the only one who thinks this is going too far?" Verne asked.
"Okay, I have a new idea." RJ spoke. "We're going to put it to a vote, raise your paw if you want to stop the heist, get Ozzie and the others out of the field, and just relax." Verne would be the only one to raise his.
"Okay, now raise your paw if you want to track down the can to wherever it's going, get it back, and then get them out?"
The other three would raise their paws, pretty much confirming that apparently Spuddies were more important than family. It'd be something old RJ would agree with, but nowadays…nope. He still was going to go along with it.
"Okay, so we want to track down the truck." RJ replied, ignoring the groan from Verne. "What we'll need is a computer, and luckily, there's one in the Marshall house."
"Is there anyone inside at these hours?" Verne asked. "Good question, Verne." RJ replied. "From the schedule I've noted from them, there should be only one human inside that house at this time, but they never leave their room whatsoever."
"Why's that?" Heather asked.
"That Heather, is what the humans call, a recluse." RJ replied. "Now then, there's two computers in the house last I checked, one upstairs, one downstairs. The one upstairs will likely be used by the recluse, so the downstairs one is free. We're going to split into two teams, team one will be me and Stella, we're going to keep an eye on the recluse."
"Now hold on, why us two?" Stella asked. "Good question Stella, if that recluse somehow spots us, you'll provide us with a quick getaway." RJ replied. "I'm not doing the cork thing again." Stella said. "Relax, no cork required." RJ replied to which Stella let out a sigh of relief.
"Anyways, team two will be Verne, Heather, and Hammy, you guys will be on that downstairs computer." Heather would then raise a paw. "Hang on, what's the company even called?" She asked.
"Lucky for you, I got the name of the company as the truck was driving off, I even wrote it down for you." RJ spoke and handed them a piece of paper. "Everyone know your positions?" RJ asked, and the others nodded, but before RJ continued, he noticed Tiger strolling by. "Hey, Tiger, could you see if you could get the others out of the laser field?" RJ asked.
Tiger just simply gave RJ a look that RJ couldn't tell was good or bad. All he knew was that Tiger understood.
"Well then, let's go!"
After managing to find their way in, that being a first-floor window, the group would get to work. "Alright, team two, downstairs computer is down the hall to the right, Stella, you and me upstairs, and not in the explorative way." Heather and Hammy had a confused look on their face, while Verne gave RJ a disapproving look…although it was followed by a small snort of amusement. There was no time to revel in realizing Verne had a sense of humor, they had their jobs.
RJ and Stella would sneakily climb up the stairs while the others went to find the computer, and it didn't take long for the two of them to end up in front of an open door. "Hang on." RJ spoke. "Smells like trash."
"The good kind?" Stella asked. "No, the bad, the one that suggests the only bath they get is with something known as deodorant." RJ replied, before sticking his head in the open door briefly, before popping back out to turn to Stella.
"More specifically, way too much Axe Body Spray." He spoke, wheezing a bit, before peeking back in.
Actually, it was quite interesting to see a human up close for this amount of time. More often than not whenever he saw one, he'd have to worry that the human would either get terrified and call for animal control, or they'd pick him up and try to carry him around. Now he could just watch this human scroll around on the computer, looking at…
…muscular skunks.
Yeah, he didn't need to see that.
RJ would pop his head out of the doorway. "They should've been able to track it down, I'm going to check on them." RJ spoke, trying his best to hide how clearly terrified he was. Unfortunately for him, Stella noticed. "What was in there?" Stella asked. "Let's just say if you saw, you might reconsider Tiger as an option." RJ replied, quickly and quietly making his way downstairs as Stella stayed behind…and began to peek.
Arriving downstairs, RJ would hope that the second team would have a location, but upon arriving, he was greeted by Verne.
"Hey RJ, why do you look like you saw Vincent?" Verne asked. "You don't want to know, any luck?" RJ quickly replied, to which Verne shook his head. "We can't find anything on the note you wrote."
"Really, let me see." RJ spoke. The two would head over to the computer, where Hammy and Heather were looking at the note from RJ.
"Is that an O or a zero?" Heather mumbled. "I think it's in the shape of a cookie." Hammy replied. It was then that the two noticed that RJ had returned. "By the way RJ, we need to have a serious talk about your handwriting." Verne spoke.
"Really?" RJ asked. "What's wrong with it?"
"Well for starters RJ, we can't read it." Heather replied. "Hammy and I took a guess on what it could mean, and we just ended up on some dating website."
"Hang on, let me look." RJ replied, before climbing up to look at it. "Guys, it's Harrison Garbage, the first letter is an H."
"That's seriously an H?" Heather asked. "For the longest time we thought that was a S."
"How do you mistake that for an S?"
"Apparently the same way we can mistake an N for a Y." Heather replied, pointing at one of the scribbles that was apparently supposed to be a Y.
"That's not even a N or a Y, that's a G!"
"RJ, please fix your handwriting!" Heather exclaimed.
"Hey guys, we have the company name, let's just type it in." Verne spoke up. "Yeah, good idea." RJ replied. Heather would type in the name, and within a matter of minutes, they would finally have an address.
"That took way more effort than needed, but hey, we got it!" RJ spoke.
Just before leaving however, a sudden grinding sound caught their attention. "What's that?" Hammy asked. "That gang is a printer." RJ replied. "Humans use them if they want to put stuff on the computer into their hands."
"Yeah, but why is it activated?" Verne asked. "We didn't even print anything."
"Uh guys, don't let Hammy look." RJ spoke. Much to his horror, coming out of the printer were…muscular skunks. "Why are their legs so thick?" Heather asked. "Do humans really draw this?" Verne chimed in.
"Hey, did y'all find the place?" A familiar voice called out. The group would slowly turn to face Stella, who had her hands on her sides. "What're y'all staring at?" She asked.
"Nothing, muscular skunks, nothing, let's go, through the garage, there's an RC car I think we can use."
Upon saying that, RJ would lead the other four to the garage, but not before Stella took the time to grab a few of the papers. She wanted that can, but she wasn't going to leave without anything. After getting the garage door open, and the car working, they would speed off onto the road.
"Spuddies can, we're on our way!"
The heist continues...with several shenanigans involving the internet, missing priorities, and RJ's handwriting.
Will the five get the can? Find out next time!
