The massive armada of republic cruisers moved swiftly through hyperspace heading toward robotnik's capitol for the main invasion, but aboard every cruiser everyone was silent as they physically and mentally prepared for what lay ahead and questioned if they were ready to invade the capitol or not. Brian stood on the bridge looking over the intel reports as well as the maps he had of the capitol trying to develop a strategy to best take the planet in a quick and timely matter, so far it looked as if they didn't get inside the walls of robotnik's capitol city then the siege would last many months with hundreds of casualties. As brian started to formulate a new plan hiccup and sonic walked onto the bridge both silent and solemn prepared for the grizzly news of an even longer war.
"So what's the news brian?" sonic asked as he looked at the holomap
"The plan is to split our forces into a 4 pronged attack from the LZ that will consist of the main forces as the capitol is the most important piece that has to fall quickly and swiftly for this to work. Sonic you will hit the left flank with the support of jet troopers and task force 1, hiccup you're going to take the dragon riders and some other jet troopers along with task force 2, po will head around the rear to pressure them there and thorner will lead some of the men up the middle, overwhelming there forces and breaching the capitol. Now they have converged many of there forces inside the capitol it'll be tough house to house fighting but we had to work quickly through the houses until we reach the main building which is defended by rapid fire cannons here, here and here they also have anti tank weapons but we have been unable to locate the exact position of it." brian said demonstrating everything on the map
"Where is robotnik held up at? Some underground bunker?" hiccup said looking at the map then brian
"No he is actually in his main office on the top floor, the security of the building is unknown but im guessing auto turrets, security droids the whole works."
Sonic and hiccup stayed silent as they looked over the entire map before sonic broke the silence
"Well it's as good of a plan as any but i gotta ask, we know where everyone is going but you so where are you going to be during this?" sonic asked
"As soon as you're on the ground I'm taking a group of gunships right over the capitol city center to airdrop ourselves inside to provide an interior foot hold." brian said, showing this as well on the holo map.
"So that's the set plan then?" hiccup asked
"Yes that's the set plan i'll assemble the unit leaders and begin the briefing." brian said as the 3 started walking off the bridge
In the war room the the unit leaders sat in the war room conversing when brian walked in
"ATTEN-HUT!" a soldier said as the stood at attention
"At ease" brian said standing in front of the holo board as the lights dimmed "alright gentlemen this is it we are finally attacking the last and final objective to win over robotnik. The plan is a 5 pronged attack against the capitol city. Task force 1 and jet troopers will go with sonic around the left flank while hiccup with task force 2 and the rest of the jet troopers will hit the right flank. Tango company echo tango and nevada company will go around the rear with po and cut the enemy reinforcements off as well as block a counter attack, thorner will then go up the middle with task force 3 and hit the center as well. They have rapid fire cannons on the wall here, here and here as well as an anti tank weapon that we have been unable to pinpoint the location of yet. When we have boots on the ground we will have to be quick and fast with fire and maneuver, do not dig in, push forward and get through the walls quickly."
"Sir you said a 5 pronged attack but that's only 4." a clone sergeant pointed out
"That is correct. I will be dropping in the middle of the city here, with alpha, bravo and ghost platoons to keep the enemy busy and distracted while you all swarm in from all sides. Check your aim, civilians are in play as well. Wheels up in 30 mikes good luck gentlemen and i'll see you all in the city square." brian said as the men got up and filed out of the room.
Inside the hangars the troops loaded into the gunships and pilots prepped their fighters until the alarm rang and everyone prepared for launch. Brian boarded a gunship his helmet held at his side as his admiral stood beside him
"Good luck sir." admiral tuck said as the gunship started to lift off
"You as well admiral." brian said as he put his helmet on and the doors closed the red standby light turned on as the troopers inside the gunship double checked their weapons.
"Alright boys remember we are dropping in behind enemy lines. We need to be on our toes as the enemy will be everywhere then we have to break their lines and link up with the main forces." brian said with several yes sirs and nods as replies over the coms brian could hear the battle rage already on the ground
"Force 1 is receiving heavy fire from enemy tanks we need immediate air support at mark 2 *sounds of blaster fire*"
"Force 2 receiving heavy casualties heavy artillery presence at our position *explosion is heard as well as the spray of dirt* we are pinned down in need of support"
"Force 3 we have engaged infantry droids and are on the receiving end of the heavy fire we are doing our best to push forward"
"Task force 4 we are about through the wall no sign of enemy activity *sounds of doors opening and heavy blaster fire* shit fall back we have been caught out in the open fall back"
Brian quickly got on the comlink to Admiral tuck
"Admiral, we need immediate air support for the troops on the ground." brian said as AA fire started to explode in and around the group of gunships "pilot open the blast doors" brian yelled as the pilot did as instructed. Brian looked down to see even though they were still far from the capitol city the AA fire was coming in and could also see the battle below, using the magnifier on his helmet he zoomed in on thorners group and could see them engaged in heavy combat when suddenly he saw something off to the left of his hud and zoomed out to see a something flying towards thorners group but it was moving too fast to try and make out what it is
"thorner...thorner its brian there is something coming from the left flank at 10 o'clock high idk if its friendly i can't make it out" brian said zooming back in on thorner as they got closer now when brian watched a row of droids seemingly disappear as watched as 2 figures came running out of the forest and attacked the droids "i don't believe it" brian said as he watched clause, the guardian, take down 5 droids and smash 2 more.
"Where did this extra support come from?"
"Doesn't matter we have a hole this is force 3 pushing forward."
"Force 4 is through the rear heading towards the city center"
"Force 2 is pushing forward. Who are these guys?"
"Force 1 pushing forward, whoever they are they arent fucking around." brian heard and then saw a tower of ice to the left flank
"Alright let's get in the fight boys" brian says jumping out of the gunship the men following from his and the other gunships, as they fall towards ground the AA fire exploded around them throwing shrapnel and smoke at and on them. Brian landed first doing the usual superhero pose and ignited his lightsaber looking at the multiple droids through his hud and went at them cutting several in half as the troopers landed and opened fire on several others.
Brian cut 3 droids and dodged blaster fire from a heavy gun and ran at it cutting the gun and its crew to pieces. Looking around he saw most of the droid forces retreating towards the main base and brian, with the troopers behind him, followed.
Across the city
Thorner has his blaster in hand walking slowly flanked by other troopers as well as bunny and claus in a tactical formation as they slowly headed toward the city center knowing that's where general smith had to be while watching everywhere for either civilians or the enemy. The coms chatter had gotten worse as more troopers were caught in either booby traps or ambushes by the enemy as they pushed forward then thorner heard a com that made him wanna double time it to the square
"This is jek i need immediate support, my platoon and I are cut off by enemy fire.*blaster fire and angry screams at the droids as well as several explosions* They are working their way to surround us. I have a visual on the enemy headquarters; it's heavily guarded and has lots of rapid fire emplacements."
"This is thorner im near your position heading towards you jek hang in there all units jek has a small foothold by the enemy headquarters rally on his platoon and engage the enemy headquarters." thorner said into his comlink as he signaled to troopers to follow him and started running in the direction of jek
"This is sev the enemy has the left flank locked up. We can't get to the rally point trying to find another way around."
"This is brian i copy sev ,jek I'm headed towards you. Hang in there as long as you can, we are coming."
"Copy that sir." Thorner heard jek say and as they rounded a corner and were met face to face with a gun turret. Thorner, who had been at the front and somewhat ahead, fell on his ass as he tried to stop quickly. The turret opened fire and thorner scrambled dodging several shots and dove back behind cover until bunny threw his boomerangs destroying the turret and they continued to move forward reaching the building jek is in destroying several of robotnik's soldiers trying to encircle it. Throner ran and took cover next to jek signaling the others to find cover.
"Alright jek what do we have?" thorner asked
"Well sir they have several emplacements here, here and here" jek said pointing at several places on the crude map of the building jek had drawn. "We are looking at well over 100 enemy soldiers dug in what looks like a circle around the building." thorner tried to peer over to take a look but several blaster bolts hit the wall in front of him
"We can't make a mad dash out there. The best thing to do would be to wait for air support as the others are still currently in combat." thorner said
"If we wait, sir, they could strengthen the lines we need to push forward." jek said and thorner got on the coms
"General this is thorner we are with jek and are currently holding our position but the enemies position is heavily fortified we need air and artillery support sir."
"Understand thorner ill contact Admiral Tuck and get us air support we are close i have hiccup with us and i'll have the dragon riders make contact with the enemy as well."
"Copy that sir, alright boys we hold them here until the general gets here and support knocks us an opening fan out into multiple buildings and spread fire and take as many down as you can." Thorner said as the men dispersed. Bunny tapped his foot and suddenly a hole appeared, he and clause jumped in it and the hole closed leaving Thorner speechless for a moment "i'll be honest i don't think today could surprise me more."
Brian was in an almost all out sprint to get to the headquarters as the large group of soldiers behind him kept up the best they could. When they got close enough brian ignited his lightsaber, breaking into a dead sprint cutting several droids in half while giving cover for the troopers to get into a defensive position. After deflecting several blaster bolts brian took cover behind the wall with thorner and jek as blaster bolts hit the lip of the wall scattering debris.
"Thorner, where are the guardians?"
"I don't know sir, bunny and clause were here and then disappeared into a hole i don't know where they went, sir."
As thorner said this sonic and hiccup joined them in the building hiccup had a Dc-15a rifle and fired at the droids several bolts striking the brick by him and brian opened his comlink and tried to get ahold of admiral tuck but the transmissions were either being blocked or the admiral was ignoring his transmissions either way he couldn't get through to call in the air support.
"Thorner I can't get through to get any air support. We need to mark enemy positions with smoke and laser while I get arty on the horn." brian said and the throner took out a smoke grenade throwing it at the enemy position as it exploded covering the droids in smoke. Before brian could call in any coordinates several fighters came in and blasted the droids positions
"Hawk to dagwood red we are in your immediate AO and prepared for more air support mark targets with smoke at your leisure."
"Copy that hawk, all troops mark enemy positions with smoke, the rest of you let's push inside. Hiccup, sonic with me we have to go find robotnik." brian said as they all pushed forward and into the main building. The troopers fanned out and started searching for more enemies while the explosions from outside shook the building. As Hiccup, sonic and brian moved towards the top they cleared several security droids until they stood by robotnik's door. With a nod from brian they entered the room sonic had a blaster aimed at him, hiccup his flame sword drawn and brian had his dual pistols aimed at robotnik who stood at the edge of the window staring at the battle.
From the height they were at they could see the dogfights happening, fighter strafing and explosions as the forces clashed.
"What a waste." robotnik said observing the battle not acknowledging the presence of the 3.
"Robotnik you're under arrest." brian said as the hiccup and sonic moved closer on the 2 sides their weapons still raised. Robotnik still stood there staring out at the battle a pained look on his face
"Surrender robotnik your forces are defeated." hiccup said
"I never thought I would lose, but I guess anything can happen in this big galaxy of ours. I will commend you on your victories though as you have won." robotnik said, turning and looking at the 3. As the 3 cautiously got closer they suddenly heard and felt explosions as the place seemed to shake uncontrollably. "But if I'm going to lose I'm taking you all with me." robotnik said a dagger appeared out of nowhere as he lunged at sonic but brian quickly let off 2 shots both finding there target as robotnik tumbled to the floor lifeless, his dagger sliding until it hit the wall and stopped.
Brian hiccup and sonic stood there for a second and stared at the body each wondering after all the suffering and pain and death it was all ended with 2 shots, but those thoughts were quickly pushed out of their minds as more explosions rocked the building and pieces started to fall
"Robotnik must have had a self-destruct sequence we need to get clear of the building." brian said as the other 2 nodded and ran out of the room with brian hot on their heels "Thorner get everyone out of the main building and get clear from it robotnik started a self-destruct sequence."
"Copy that sir." brian heard as he ran the building starting to collapse around him. Instead of heading towards the stairs brian continued running towards the glass window at the end of the hall shooting several blaster bolts into it and charging through it followed by sonic and hiccup as the building crumbled more and more behind them. Brian landed with ease and used the force to help the others land and took cover behind buildings as the main building collapsed throwing debris and dust in the air.
As the dust started to clear the 3 leaders walked towards the remains of the building as shouts of victory echoed through the city as everyone celebrated the victory. On the side of the rubble po shifted through the rock and saw the glint of something shiny and as he got it out it was revealed to be robotnik's dagger which he quickly put in his waistband and walked towards the group that was talking towards the base of the rubble.
"So is it really over? After all that it's just over?" sonic asked
"The war may have been won but its effects are far from over. We need to assist the planets that were affected by the battles and help reunite families and rebuild." brian said his helmet under his arm as he looked at the rubble that was behind him.
"Sev'ral planets have already started rebuilding, that's how we got onto your trail and found ya." bunny said walking up with the guardians behind him and brain walked over shaking their hands
"It's a pleasure to meet you all, you are all quite famous in the mid rim." brian said
"It's our duty to protect and that's what we do." Claus says while seething his swords.
Behind the group of leaders a clone with a camera took pictures of the city and the aftermath for propaganda
"General sir, would you and all the other leadership want to pose for a picture?" the trooper asked motioning to the camera
"That's actually a good idea trooper but let's have everyone we can." brian says turning to the soldiers around him "everyone in front of the rubble in rows lets get a good picture of officers towards the middle front." brian said the soldiers falling into position many of the troopers still keeping their helmets on which brian didn't like very much
"Helmet off everyone and smile." brian said the troopers looking at him for a moment and then taking off their helmets and looked forward smiling as the trooper took the picture and gave the thumbs up when it was done being taken and the troops all dispersed to look for those in need in the area
2 weeks later
Brian, with shadowmere by his side, walked with Hiccup, who had toothless at his side, through new berk as it was a hustle and bustle to build new buildings and stables. The midday sun shone brightly filling the air with warmth as the riders and dragons flew overhead
"So you're sure you can't stay. I'm sure your help would be much appreciated everywhere." Hiccup said
"As much as I want to stay and help rebuild, I can't. There is still a war going on in the galaxy and I have to go and fight in it." brian said as they walked towards a clearing where Thorner and some troopers stood talking by a gunship. Brian looked at shadowmere and rubbed his head and then looked at hiccup
"When the war is over I'll return but for now take care of shadowmere for me."
"Your not taking him with you?" hiccup asked
"No im not, space is not the place for shadowmere but one day after the war is over i will return and take him with me" brian said as he rubbed shadowmeres head and chin then walked over giving a handshake
"Dont cause too much trouble without me." brian said the put his helmet on, turned and walked to the gunship getting on as the doors closed and it lifted off heading towards the jedi cruiser which shortly there later joined the fleet in orbit and jumped into lightspeed.
So thats a wrap on this chapter, yes i'm not dead and yes the story shall continue I will be honest i hit a major writers block and just didn't have inspiration, tried writing some chapters but they came out sloppy and didn't really have a good story point but now i have a full plan that in the end everyone should like so see you all in the next chapter.
