Fae was cleaning up around her apartment, while also keeping a close eye on her owl and Dipper making sure the two didn't start another fight. The owl sat high above on a bookcase, looking down at the niffler as it scurried about, curiously as he ventured from room to room exploring the new home. Dipper began stuffing anything shiny, that he could get his paws on into his pouch. Small glass bottles, loose change scattered on the floor or in the couch cushions, a chain from a lamp. Then the tiny niffler went into Fae's bedroom, crawling inside.
The bed was partially made as the covers hanged off the side, clothes sitting in a chair in a corner, some pile of books scattered on the floor, several moving pictures of her friends were placed on a bookcase next to some potion books, a copy of a history of magic, a writing desk with some drops of ink spills on it, small pale blue lights hanging from the curtains and around the ceiling of the room. Dipper set his eyes on a silver belt buckle, hanging off to the side of Fae's bedroom dresser. It crawled over and hopped up, latching the belt's leather into his mouth until he managed to pull it out. Fae walked into her room with her owl on her shoulder wondering where her little friend went until she spotted the creature, starting to stuff the belt into his pouch.
"Dipper, no! I need that!" She ran over and grabbed the other end of the belt. The niffler quickly latched on as he began to pull back, like a dog in a game of tug of war. Fae managed to pry the belt from the niffler's mouth as she tickled Dipper's stomach pouch. She stood up and quickly placed the belt back into the drawer, closing it shut then she turned back to her niffler. She let out a tired sigh and bent down scooping Dipper up into her arms.
"I can't leave you alone for a second, can I." She chuckled. Fae walked over to her desk, placing Merula's wand on it. She pondered on whether or not she should get a new one. It was the only thing that she had left of Merula, she hated to part from it. But the new school term was coming around fast, and she needed something efficient that would work with her. Fae decided that on her next visit, she was going to stop by Ollivanders in Diagon alley to pick one up. Then Fae heard a tap on the window glass and turned to find a dark grey owl, sitting on the other side with a letter in its beak. Strange, she wasn't expecting any letters today. It couldn't be...
She placed Dipper on her bed and walked over to the window, opening it. She took the letter from the owl to see who it was from. The was no address from the sender but it did have hers. It was from Severus. He had finally sent one to her after all. Fae opened it open but was confused when she saw only a blank piece paper inside. She never seen this type of letter before. How was she going to write back to him? Fae felt a pinch and she let out a hiss in pain as the owl bit her fingers then flew off.
"Rude." Fae muttered under her breath. She walked over to her desk and set Severus letter down, pondering. She looked over at her quill and ink and started to write on it, hoping she didn't mess it up.
"Severus?" Fae's eyes widened, seeing the ink disappear and more words appeared.
"I see you got my letter and you've managed to figure it out. Good. Maybe, you're not such a dunderhead after all." Fae frowned. Yep, it was Snape alright, he was the only one who will say or write anything insulting.
"How has your summer been? I've been keeping busy around the house." Fae wrote back.
"It has been...quiet." Fae chuckled.
"I assume you find it peaceful not having to deal with any students."
"Yes."
"So, out of the blue, when is your birthday?" Fae wrote back. She already knew what to get him. For several minutes, she didn't receive a response.
"Why do you want to know?" She saw him wrote back.
"I want to do something for you this year. I felt bad not getting you anything last year. I didn't know. Trust me, it's nothing bad."
"That's not very reassuring." Fae chuckled.
"I promise it is not a prank. But I can't tell you what it is. It'll spoil the surprise." She wrote back to him.
"Very well. It's Jan. 9." Fae smiled. Finally, she had a date to go on. Now she just had to keep Severus from finding out.
"Are you excited about the new school year?" She wrote back to him and waited a few minutes until he responded.
"I suppose. I have to get some more ingredients in Diagon alley for my storage in the classroom." Fae's eyes widened a little.
"I am going there too in a few days. Maybe, we'll see each other!"
"Perhaps, we will."
