"What's your take on this exercise, Jaune?"

Yang said as her eyes eyed a stray grimm. Its body of a bird, flame in its eyes, and gripping the ground with its sharp talons. In addition to that, it had an imposing size of a full-grown tree.

"Honestly? Really stupid."

Yang stiffled her laugh, trying not to alert the grimm. "Took the word right outta my mouth!"

Around the grimm were countless crags, with the bird itself staying motionlessly in its middle. The grimm was mimicking a bird, something it conceptually was known to do, and by extension an exploit team JY (Jay) could take advantage of.

"I'll match your timing, Yang!"

Coming out of the woods, Yang entered the crags and zeroed-in from the bird's blindspot; due to its apparent biology it was unable to see behind it. With quick execution, Yang exploted it by dashing in a straight line and slamming her right gauntlet against its hind.

Even as Jaune was far away from the grimm, he could hear the sound of pulverized bones.

With one magnificent impact, the bird was struck motionless in a recoiling posture.

To capitulate, Yang unlocked her shell trigger and popped all of them in its left gauntlet.

Spinning for added momentum, Yang swerved under the immobilized bird and launched a left uppercut at the same place she had hit before. These chains of event made her knuckle sent the bird flailing helplessly in the sky.

"Slam it down, shield boy!"

"You got it, boss!" Jaune said as he took his position in the air. "One incoming bird spike, coming right… DOWN!"

Wielding his sword like a racket, Jaune slammed the bird from overhead and sending it back down into the earth.

Spinning her arm in a counter-clockwise windmill motion, she waited until the bird came close. Within a few inch before her, Yang mustered a bountiful strength in her arm and hammered the bird grimm from above.

As they made a crater in the crags, the grimm disappeared into nothingness.

Watching the whole bird three times her size disappear into thin air, she let her bullet shells flew out of her gauntlet. Her other hand, meanwhile, was busy cracking the muscle beside her neck. "These creatures just won't give us a break, huh?"

Jaune, who had landed safely on the ground, couldn't help but agree. "I've read a few bits and pieces about them, but even their accounts were sketchy at best."

"Something about how grimms immitate wild floras and faunas just give me the creeps," Yang shivered, truly meaning what she said. "The good thing is I can pummel their body and cave their faces in, so it's all good in my book."

Jaune couldn't help but snicker.

A second later, Yang joined in. "Aha, pun definitely intended. I like your sense of humor, Jaune."

"Yours aren't bad too, fist girl," Jaune laughed.

Resuming their journey, they calmly walked toward a cliffside opposite of the temple. All the while, Yang was giving a playful noogie on Jaune's head.

Somewhere their opposite, Pyrrha was carrying Weiss on her back.

It seemed her sense of vision was still rattled by experiencing Ruby's power at a raw distance.

"The impact point is here, girls," Ruby said as the scout of team PWR (Power). "Looks like Jaune hit something equally powerful here."

Weiss, in her delirious moment, took a look at where Ruby was pointing and mumbled. "Looks like… something unstoppable had hit something as immovable."

Ruby quickly gave Weiss a thumbs up. "That's it! That word was at the tip of my tongue!"

Weiss, too weak to care anymore, rested her head on Pyrrha's shoulder once more.

At least the shoulder of her hero figure was as conforting and warm as she had thought before.
