A/N I recently read a review that said my writing format made it a little hard to read and understand dialogue. So, from now on I'll be writing in a different format and I hope it's an improvement. Enjoy the story guys!
Disclaimer: I do not own Avatar the last Air-bender or it's associated properties.
The Gaang was currently sleeping and camped out by a river. After everything that had happened with Jet, Aang was mad at the trio for a while. However, soon he realized that the world had drastically changed because of his actions so he couldn't stay mad at any of them for long. Right now, Aang was currently dreaming of his friends and him traveling but it soon turned into a Nightmare as a familiar storm showed up from his past. The Next thing you know Aang woke up screaming from his sleeping place on Appa's leg. Dijin then burst out of his Earth-tent door, rocks flying everywhere as he instantly jumped-up Earth-bending some rock gauntlets shouting "What! What! Are we under attack!?"
Katara woke up groggily and said "Calm down Dijin, Aang just had another nightmare."
Dijin turned to his left and saw Aang breathing heavy while sweat poured down his face proving what she said true. Sokka suddenly woke up saying "Huh? What's going on?"
Aang looked at them saying "Sorry guys, it was just a bad dream. Go back to sleep."
Sokka laid back down saying "You don't have to tell me twice."
Dijin dropped his gauntlets saying "Ditto." before crawling back into his Earth-tent and slammed his fist into the ground making a new door. Katara concerned for her friend asked "Aang, are you alright?"
Aang had a depressed look as he said with his back to her "I'm ok."
Katara still concerned said "You seem to be having a lot of nightmares lately. You want to tell me about it?"
Aang closed his eyes and said with finality "I think I need some rest." Aang then stopped talking not wanting to speak further on the matter. Katara just looked concerned before laying back down as well and going back to sleep.
The next morning the Gaang was cleaning up their camp as Aang sat on Appa looking at the sky saying "Look at those clear skies, buddy. Should be some smooth flying."
Katara looked at their food supply and said "Well, we'd better fly ourselves to a market cause we're out of food."
Dijin then said "Luckily we don't have to worry about funds for a while so we can get plenty."
Katara put her things in Appa's saddle as she said "That's true."
she and the others climbed onto Appa while Sokka said "Oh yeah, I almost forgot we got 30 gold pieces now." Sokka then grabbed Momo and put him on his head like a fancy hat saying "We're living large and leading the charge. Eh? Eh?"
They all just had blank looks at Sokka's lame joke before Aang just said "Appa, Yip, yip." Appa then took off making Sokka fall backwards as Dijin held on for dear life as usual.

The Gaang had found a little harbor market and were currently shopping but so far, every stall they've been too had either rotten or bug infested food. Right now, Katara was arguing with a sales woman saying "I'm telling you I don't like this swishing sound I'm hearing."
Katara then shook the melon she was holding a loud swishing sound being made. The sales woman glared at her saying "The swishing means it's ripe! It's the ripe juices swishing around!"
Dijin quickly grabbed the melon from Katara and dropped it on the ground making a swarm of maggots come out of it. Katara started screaming in terror and disgust as the woman looked nervous while Dijin glared at her saying "How about you take your 'ripe melons' and dump them in the ocean, actually let me help."
He then thrusted his arm downwards diagonally, Earth-bending a pillar and launching the horrible sales lady's rotten merchandise in the water. The woman fell to her knees screaming "MY MELONS!"
Dijin and Katara walked away after that with Katara laughing as they met up with Sokka and Aang. Sokka then asked them "Did you guy's find anything?"
Katara sighed saying "No everything here is disgusting."
Sokka's stomach growled as he complained "Oh man, what are we gonna do!"
Suddenly though they overheard an old couple arguing over by a fishing boat. The old woman spoke first saying "We shouldn't go out there. Please the fish can wait. There's going to be a terrible storm."
Sokka perked up after hearing the fish part and listened closely. The old man just stubbornly replied "Aw, you're crazy. It's a nice day."
He threw his arm towards the sun to emphasize his point. He then said "No clouds, no wind, no nothing, so quit your nagging, woman."
Aang looking a little scared said "Maybe we should find some shelter."
Sokka agreeing with the old man said "Are you kidding? Shelter from what?"
The old woman spoke again saying "My joints say there's going to be a storm, a bad one."
The old man just said "Well, it's your joints against my brains."
The old woman crossed her arms saying "Then I hope you can get your brains to haul in all that fish, because I won't!"
The old man just stubbornly said "Fine! See if I care. Anyone of these yahoos around here can haul fish better than you and I'll even pay'em double!"
Sokka seeing an opportunity for them to get some food ran up to the old man saying "I'll help you haul in those fish and you don't even have to pay me just give me a few fish and we'll call it even."
The old man instantly shook Sokka's hand saying "Done!"
Katara walked up to her brother saying "What are doing Sokka?"
He looked at her saying "What? We need food, he's going fishing, and he's gonna give us some in return it's a win-win."
Katara just looked at the water having a bad feeling before saying "Ok. If you think it's a good idea."
After the old man explained the job to Sokka he started helping the old man load his boat. Aang looking at the horizon and seeing dark clouds said "Sokka, maybe this isn't a good idea. Look at the sky."
Sokka looked at Aang determined and said "I said I was gonna do this job. I can't back out just because of a little weather change."
The old woman shouted at the old man saying "The boy with the tattoos has some sense. You should listen to him."
She then marched off to prepare her home for the upcoming storm. The old man suddenly perked up after hearing his wife and said "Boy with tattoos?"
He then turned around and got off the boat while walking up to Aang and said "Air-bender tattoos at that." he then pointed at Aang saying "You're the Avatar ain't ya boy."
Katara and Dijin were standing behind Aang as Katara said with a smile "That's right."
The old man snapped at her saying "Don't be so smiley about it!" Aang and Katara instantly frowned as the old man said "The Avatar disappeared 100 years ago and look what's happened! People are taken from their homes, husbands and sons are forced to fight in a war they had no say in, and there's a whole lot more I could into boy but I won't."
Katara angry at the old man for his harsh words said "That's enough! It's not Aang's fault the Fire Nation started this war! As long as I've known him all he's done is try to help people."
The old man just argued back "But he could have stopped it. Now look at what his actions have done, he left the whole world to suffer."
However, neither of them saw what the argument was doing to Aang as he had an inner battle with himself before opening his glider and flying away. The old man yelled after Aang saying "Yeah, fly away like you always do!"
Katara looked at the old man with hate and snarled out "You're a horrible old man!" she then bent some water onto his face before running to Appa to chase after Aang Dijin hot on her heels.
The old man wiped his face saying "Your friends are pretty rude ain't they?"
Sokka replied with "I know ri-" he was cut off rudely by the old man saying "Yeah, whatever." Sokka just frowned before getting ready to cast off never knowing the danger he was about to face.

Katara and Dijin were flying on Appa, Rain pouring down on them as Katara shouted "Aang! Aang! Where are you!"
She looked back at Dijin who was holding on to Appa's saddle and she asked "Why did he take off Dijin?!"
Dijin just tightened his grip saying "I don't know Katara, my best guess is something that old man said hit some kind of cord within him, like whatever the old man was saying was actually true."
Katara looked shocked saying "You can't possibly think it's Aang's fault for everything?"
Dijin shook his head saying "I'm not saying that, what I'm saying is that Aang for some reason feels responsible for everything that's happened. Now, what that is, I have no idea. So, let's find him and ask him."
Katara nodded her head at Dijin with a determined gaze as she looked at her surroundings before noticing an orange glow in a cave on a mountain. Katara pointed at it screaming "There! I think I found him!"
Dijin sighed in relief saying "Ok, now please land this big buy. I can't take much more of this, especially with the storm."
Katara just rolled her eyes and flew Appa to the cave while landing at the entrance with a thud. Katara and Dijin climbed down while Appa shook himself like a dog. They found Aang sitting by a fire with his knees curled up to his chest and his chin resting in his arms. Without even looking at them he said "Hey guys. I'm sorry for running away."
Katara and Dijin sat next to him as Katara put a hand on his shoulder saying "It's ok. That fisherman was out of line."
Aang just looked away from them in shame saying "Actually, he wasn't. After everything that's happened with us and now with what the fisherman said it's made realize..." he then looked at them both seriously and said "I need to tell you the truth about how I ended up in that ice-burg."
Dijin looked at Aang and asked "Are you sure?"
Aang closed his eyes and nodded his head then opened them saying "Yes, you need to know what really happened."
Dijin and Katara looked at each other before moving so they were front of Aang so he could tell his story properly. Aang then looked at them saying "I'll never forget the day the monks told me I was the Avatar..."
Aang then told them how the monks on his twelfth birthday had summoned him and told him he was the next Avatar. The monks said they tested him as a child by giving him 1,000 toys to choose from and he chose four that belonged to previous Avatars. They told him they would have waited until he was older but they also said a great tragedy was soon on the horizon. So, every day of Aang's life after that was full of hardship, none of the other acolytes wanted to play with him anymore, he was always training, and the only reprieve he had was when Monk Gyatsu would "train" him in Pai-Sho. However, what broke Aang the most was when he overheard the monks say they were going to send him away and Monk Gyatsu wouldn't be going with him.
Aang stood up angry and glared at the wall yelling "It wasn't fair! They wanted to take away everything and everyone I loved!"
Aang in his anger caused wind to blow blowing hot cinders towards Dijin and Katara but Dijin used dirt to put it out as he said "I understand, they wanted to take away your entire childhood."
Dijin then looked away a brief flash of his past going through his mind as Katara said "It really is understandable, especially after they sent you away like that."
Aang looked back at them sadly as they both widened their eyes while Katara said "Unless, they didn't send you away."
Aang then told them how he ran away that very night and accidently flew Appa into a hurricane and were quickly sent into a whirlpool in the ocean. They would have drowned if Aang hadn't gone into the Avatar State and Air-bent a sphere around them while also freezing it. However, what was meant to be only a temporary solution ended up being his prison for 100 years.
After he finished his story he said "So, you see the old man was right. Because I ran away my people were killed and I wasn't there to help."
Katara tried to make him feel better saying "But Aang you didn't-" He cut her off saying "The whole world needed me and I wasn't there to help."
Dijin then knelt down and said "Aang, look at me."
Aang looked at Dijin with his eyes slightly tearing up as Dijin said "An old teacher of mine once told me, everything happens for a reason, be it good, be it bad makes no difference it's how we deal with what happens afterwards that makes the journey worthwhile."
Katara and Aang looked at Dijin Shocked by his wise words but no more so than Aang because for a brief second, he thought he saw Monk Gyatsu where Dijin was. Katara kneeled next to Dijin and grabbed Aang's hands saying "It's like Dijin said Aang what happened 100 years ago doesn't matter. You're here now and I know you can save the world."
Aang smiled at his two friends before suddenly they heard someone shouting from the cave entrance saying "Help! Help! Oh please, someone help!"
Katara ran forward and saw it was the old woman from the harbor. Katara quickly grabbed her saying "It's ok. You're safe."
The woman then said desperately "But my Husband isn't!"
Katara then said worriedly "What do you mean? Where's Sokka?"
The woman replied "They haven't returned. They should have been back now. And this storm is becoming a Typhoon. They're caught out at sea!"
Aang then stood up saying "I'm going to find them."
Katara then said "I'm going with you."
Dijin and the old woman knowing they would have to take Appa and be in the storm shouted at the same time "I'm staying here!"
They both then plopped down by the fire. Until Katara grabbed Dijin's ear and said "Oh no you don't, you're coming wither you like it or not!"
Dijin trying to get away whined "But it's scary out there!" Katara fed up with Dijin thrusted her arm forward and froze him in her water and then used bending to put him in the saddle as he shouted "No fair! That's cheating!"
Katara ignored him as Aang climbed on saying to the woman "Don't worry we'll find them." He then grabbed Appa's reigns saying "Yip, yip." Appa then took off into the sky and into the storm.

The trio were seen flying low over the ocean to find the small fishing boat Sokka and the old man were on. Katara and Aang were shouting over the rain and wind saying "Sokka!"
Dijin who was still frozen was feeling every bump and turn Appa was doing and he was repeatedly saying "I'm gonna throw up, I'm gonna throw up, I'm gonna throw up."
Katara suddenly shouted "Where are they?"
Then a giant wave started to come at them as Aang shouted "Come on Appa!" He then had Appa fly straight through the wave as he used Air-bending to cut a way through, scaring the daylights out of Dijin as he shouted "For spirit's sake Katara, unfreeze me! It's not like I'm going anywhere!"
Katara actually looked a little sheepish forgetting she had frozen him. she then shouted "Sorry!" while unfreezing him allowing him to get a proper hold so he didn't fall.
Dijin then noticed a small speck in the water as he screamed and pointed "What's that a little southwest from here!"
They looked and saw the speck Dijin was looking at Aang and Katara smiled with her saying "It must be them!"
Aang then shouted "let's go get'em Appa." Appa roared in approval as he crashed against another wave to go save Sokka.
Appa flew close to the ship above the deck as Aang jumped down to help the two fishermen get on Appa. However, a lightning bolt struck the deck making the mast collapse. Aang quickly waved his arms upwards multiple times, Water-bending four blades of water that cut the mast in half vertically preventing Sokka and the old man from getting crushed. Dijin then threw Sokka and the old man some rope saying "Tie that on and quickly!"
As soon as they were secure Aang shouted "Hang on to the rope!" he then grabbed it and Air-bent himself and the two others onto Appa's saddle safely.
However, there safety was short lived as a giant wave plus the boat came up behind them and submerged them into the ocean. The Gaang began to sink with everyone passed out from the hit of the wave save for Aang who saw all the people he cared about in horrible trouble. Then through sheer force of will Aang activated the Avatar state, his tattoos and eyes glowing blue, he then grabbed Appa's reigns and slammed his fists together Air-bending a dome of Air around them as he then lifted them upwards to the surface. Once they breached Aang while still in the Avatar State saw the storm and grabbed his staff.
Dijin then coughed up some water as he opened his eyes and once again, he was greeted by an amazing sight. Aang was using his staff as an extension of himself, turning his body in circle while twirling the staff around himself with one hand. He was twirling it so fast he was creating a shield of water to protect everyone as he started bending the storm clouds, the rain, and the waves. The very storm itself listening to his command but soon a bolt of lightning was about to strike them. Aang however, just held two fingers out and let the lightning strike him but he then used his other arm to help the lightning travel through his body as he redirected it into the ocean. He then continued to twirl his staff to bend the wind, clouds and rain until finally the storm had moved away from them and headed another direction the sun and blue sky replacing it. Aang seeing that they were safe now finally deactivated the Avatar State and he was about to collapse until Dijin moved to catch him. Aang instantly passed out in Dijin's arms, the strain of bending an entire storm exhausting him.
Katara woke up next coughing before seeing Aang and rushing over saying "What happened? Is Aang ok?"
Dijin just replied "He's fine just really tired."
Katara just repeated her question asking "What happened?"
He just looked at her saying "You wouldn't believe me if I told you."
She just smirked at him saying "Try me." He then explained what had transpired only a few minutes prior as everyone started to wake-up besides Aang.
Soon after few more minutes of rest Aang woke up but still exhausted, he looked up and was surprised by the blue sky and sun being out along with everyone else. They didn't think on it long though as Aang flew them back to the cave where the old man's wife was. When they arrived, the woman ran up to her husband saying in relief "Oh thank the spirits, Your alive!"
She then hugged him as he hugged her back saying "I'm sorry honey, I should have listened to you."
She just said "As long as your safe that's all that matters."
She then frowned at him and waved her finger at him saying "And you owe this boy an apology Mr!"
The old man looked at Aang and he bowed his head saying "I'm sorry Avatar. Old age has made me bitter, but thank you for bringing me home to my wife."
Sokka chose then to ruin the moment saying "But what about the fish?"
the old man threw a fish a Sokka's face which he somehow caught in his mouth. Dijin then twisted his right foot Earth-bending Sokka up to his neck in the floor saying "Read the room!"
Everyone laughed at Sokka's predicament as Katara grabbed Aang's shoulders and said "See Aang you were meant to be here, and now you know this world can be saved even it's one life at a time."
Aang smiled at Katara and gained a slight blush as he noticed she was still holding onto him and being so close. Dijin smiled as well now happy more than ever that King Bumi sent him on this journey because now he had friends, he wouldn't change for anything.
