"Found her!"
Shadows were quickly catching up to her but she kept running.
The runaway Academia solider had been found resting by an on patrol guard and now was being chased by several more through the Heartland streets.
"Please…. just stop!" Gloria yelled.
"Give yourself up and then we can talk!" yelled a solider from behind.
"And by talking we mean discuss your punishment!" added another.
Gloria saw some dumpster bins up ahead going into an alleyway. Opposite was another alleyway and Gloria had to think quickly.
Seconds later the soldiers appeared and saw that Gloria's duel disk was on the ground heading away from the bins. The soldiers assumed she had stripped it off to be able to run quicker and went that way, leaving a tired Gloria to rest within.
Ray – Base
Ray finished working on the cards she made for the Resistance. She wiped the sweat from her face and drank the last cup of coffee Haruto gave her before going to sleep.
She smiled when she saw that the boy was asleep. She noticed now that Samurai was looking her.
"Are you okay?" Ray asked.
"You're still building… Maria was just like this."
"My angel-self? I never got a chance to know her."
"Well she was very creative like you… she was always forging new weapons."
"What did she make.?" Ray asked as she kept working.
"Well her inventions were always thought of being slightly crazy by the rest but they all used them to maintain peace."
"And when you say weapons you don't mean….?"
"No of course not. The angels didn't use harmful methods. Weapons were the wrong word… more like tools to maintain the peace."
"That sounds even worse."
"Let me explain. It was never meant to cause harm. At least not against the innocent, fight to protect and at the same time only fight in self-defence."
"The dragons were the ones who used force."
"Yes and that's where the initial disagreement happened."
"What items did she make?"
Maria made the other girls weapons to maintain the peace. Fiona had a sword of light, Linette had a bow, Ciel was able to use a shield to keep trouble away, Elisa had amour made of the toughest metal while Maria herself used a slingshot."
"Wow… she sounds amazing… I will meet her for real!"
Morning
Yuto woke up and saw Ruri was hugging him while she was sleeping. While she was, she was smiling as well.
Yuto tried to pull his arm away but Ruri stopped it.
"Not yet, Yuto."
"But… we can't be like this…."
"Shun isn't here…. I… I just want to enjoy this moment. I…. need a hug, Yuto."
"Of course…." Yuto said with nerves but also some happiness. The two embraced as Yuto stroked her hair.
"It's just…. how many more times will we get this chance?"
"What do you mean?"
"I…. what if…. one of us…. never returns?"
"Don't ever talk like that." Yuto replied. "I mean….. I also have fears…"
"Like?"
"What if Dark Rebellion took control during a night and….. hurt you?"
As Yuto spoke Shun came down the stairs and saw Ruri and Yuto whispering.
"What on earth?! RURI!"
The yells woke up the whole base, Ruri quickly looked at Shun… she didn't expect her brother to see.
"What now?!" Yuzu yelled back as she sat up. Her eyes looked tired.
"I ... I'm sorry ... I ... did not except to see you cuddled ..." Shun stuttered.
"We were not doing anything wrong." Ruri tried to explain himself but Warrior appeared in front of Yuzu.
"My romantic senses have just trembled, something succeeded." Warrior said.
"Seriously?" Yuzu narrowing her eyes to her knight. Rio hit the wall, drawing everyone's attention.
"You two shut up!" Rio yelled. "Well done, Shun, waking everyone up. Why do we need an alarm when you're walking-talking one?! "
Yuya had also gotten up and looked at Yuzu.
"Wow, you look terrible." Yuya said, Yuzu turned on her head with the most annoyed of looks. "It's because of you!" Yuzu grabbed her fan and slapped Yuya around the face. "I'm not an Action Field for you to trample me like that!"
"What did I do?!" Yuya replied with an innocent look.
"You kicked me during the night! All night! And hearing Ray work on the machine... I should've slept upstairs!"
"Well you will be sleeping, in the cages!" Rio shouted. "You're first night, and you've disturbed everyone!"
"No!" Ruri interrupted.
"You can stay, Ruri and Yuto… but enough of these outsiders." Rio slammed them down.
Ray came out of the small room laughing.
"What now?" Rio said.
"You lot…. always arguing! It's so funny!"
"I think she's had too much coffee." Ruri said.
"You know back home… we have a card called Hungry Burger? Imagine that… a burger… that is hungry?! Amazing!"
Ray stumbled over to Yuzu and hugged her.
"You… Yuzu…. Youzu!" Ray said before she fell asleep around Yuzu.
"I think this is what a long night without sleep looks like…." Anna added, face palming. Rio looked furious but around her the rest of the Resistance were laughing including the Lancers. This wasn't a noise she expected to hear. Even Haruto came out with a smile.
"If that makes you laugh, Shun actually told me that sleeping with a boy makes a baby!" Ruri added.
"Wait, what?!" Shun snapped back.
Around the room Yuzu and the others who could see the spirits saw all of them laugh including Warrior, Samurai and Uriel.
Jail
Mina was fully awake and aware of her situation. She clenched the bars of the Resistance prison.
She had had her card with angel and dragon powers removed along with her duel disk and deck.
Ruri was alongside her on the opposite side of the bars.
"You came here to ask me to change… I can't, I won't." Mina calmly said.
"Mina, I wanted to ask about your mother."
"What about her?"
"You've been willing to go as far as possible to bring her back…. even trying to kill Roget… how would you forgive yourself?"
"I don't need to forgive myself!" Mina yelled back.
"How would she cope if she saw you?"
"Well she can't! That's the point!"
"I will save you, Mina. I want you to help me!" Ruri replied.
Before Mina could reply, Ray came in and asked Ruri to follow her. Ruri nodded and looked back at Mina before departing.
….
In the printing room stood the Lancers and Resistance, Ray had given everyone two new Pendulum Cards.
"Pendulums? You want us to use non-Xyz?" Anna said.
"They enhance the deck." Yuzu replied.
"No." Rio sternly interrupted.
"Rio! We have a new weapon." Luna snapped.
"Don't care. We do it with our ways… this whole thing was a mistake."
"Listen!" Shun replied to Rio. "I rejected Pendulums as well back in Standard but now I'll accept these."
"Yes, because you've got soft."
"You sound just like an Academia solider!" Ray added.
"We are soldiers!" Rio barked back. "We have pride in what we do! We don't need offworlders!"
"That's exactly what I was like!" Shun said as he put his hands down firmly onto Rio's shoulders, he was trying to make her see sense. "To win this fight, we need to evolve and adapt! I'm stronger now I have changed… and you need to as well!"
"It's not the cards fault." Yuzu added.
"About that… duel spirits? What on earth do you mean by that?!" Rio argued. "You said that last night… what is a duel spirit?"
"There was an original world before the five dimensions. That world was home to humans and spirits which now reside in cards. The spirit within Yuto is one of five dragons who turned corrupt and attacked the angels who are within me, Ray and Ruri. The dragons merged thanks to the Pendulum energy while the angels used it to seal them away and split the world."
Rio didn't reply, she stood there, just straight-faced.
"Too much?" Yuzu questioned as she looked at Ruri and Ray.
"Maybe a bit." Ray replied
"Wow." Rio replied. Yuzu and the others thought they had got through to Rio. "You're all sleep-deprived!"
"Yeah she didn't get it…." Yuzu sighed.
"I believe you." Luna said.
"Going by the stories Ray said last night, me too." Haruto added.
"I…. well…. saw some weird things when I dueled Ruri… or Yuzu…. they shared a body…" Anna answered to Rio.
"That card Faker took from the prisoner… it was able to create the cages we got caught in." Haruto further explained.
"Nonsense!" Rio shouted.
"Even Kaiba was easier to convince then this…." Yuzu snidely said to herself.
"This is all crazy." Rio hit back. "I'm going."
"Wow, finally she thinks someone else is weird!" Shingo said. The whole room looked at him with contempt.
"Rio!" Shun went after her.
"What is it?!" she snapped.
"You refuse to listen? Fine, I'm going to duel you! If I win, I'll become the leader once more!"
"I don't have to agree to that!"
"True but how will it look if a leader refuses?!"
"Fine! I've had enough of you, Shun… I'll make an exception and turn you into a card!"
Later
"But what about Shun?" Yuzu asked.
"Don't worry, Shun must have an idea." Ruri replied.
Ray, Yuzu, Yuto, Luna and Shingo had been sent on a mission to retrieve food. They were going into homes which had not been raided yet but since the war had been going on for some time, those houses were getting less. Food was getting less and now with the Lancer's arrival, resources were even thinner.
Base
After the missions were set it was time for Rio and Shun to begin their duel. Even though people wished to remain and see who was leader at the end of the duel, jobs still needed to be done. The remaining Resistance and Lancers watched as Rio and Shun dueled outside the Resistance camp.
"Let's go, Rio!" Shun yelled as his duel disk activated.
"I don't need you to tell me that!" Rio replied as she activated hers.
"DUEL!"

"I summon Blizzard Falcon!" A blue and green bird emerged.

"I playBlizzard Jet!" Rio showed a Spell. "Blizzard Falcon gains 1500 attack until the End Phase!"

"Since Falcon has higher attack then its original amount, it inflicts 1500 points of damage!" Falcon shot down icy shards onto Shun.

"Using the same move every time… you never change." Shun said. "Just like your leadership, you fail to change!"
"Be quiet, Shun! I use a Field Spell! Land of Frozen Flames!"
"A Field?!"
Shun and Rio felt rumbling below their feet. Before Shun could say anything blocks of ice shot out from underneath both of them and they rose above the field. The ground became ice which glowed.
"You never expected this! This Field Spell allows me to Xyz Summon with a Water Monster being treated as two materials!"
"One Monster?" Yuya said.
"Rio is going all out… Rio starts quick but normally likes to see what her opposition does but since it's Shun… she knows."
"Go Blizzard Falcon!" A second Blizzard Falconappeared and both fired into the Xyz portal. "AppearNumber 103: Ragnazero!"
"Another Number?!" Yuya yelled
A tall female who wore a long white dress emerged. She had light blue ice shards on her back while holding two double-sided swords with sharp ice blades.

"Lanius' effect! It allows me to summon a Raidraptor monster from my hand! Appear Raidraptor - Sharp Lanius!" A red armoured Raidraptor appeared.

"When summoned Sharp can change your Monster's position!" Shun pointed to Ragnazero and she crouched down, switching to defence. "Next by targeting Sharp, I summon Raidraptor - Pain Lanius from my hand! It gains the same level as Sharp when summoned this way!" The monster was a larger green Raidraptor. It had red under-wings.

"I take damage equal to Booster's attack or defence, whichever is lower." Shun flinched as he lost 1000 lifepoints.

"I overlay my three level fours!" The three birds turned to energy while a vortex appeared on field, they went through it. "Obscured falcon, raise your sharpened talons in front of adversity, spread your wings of rebellion! Xyz Summon! Appear! Rank 4! Raid Raptors - Rise Falcon!

"You absolute idiot!" Rio yelled.
" You know my deck has cards which trigger when attacks change... and you didn't even think for a second! Now my Ragnazero's effect activates!"

"I destroy your Falcon whose attack has changed!"
"What?!" Shun replied in surprise, he know some of Rio's deck but not this card.
Hundreds of icy shards hit Shun's Monster, slicing it apart.
"And now I can draw one card!"
"He walked right into Rio's trap…." Haruto said.
"Shun knows what he's doing... I hope" Yuya replied.
"I use my Quick-Play Spell Rank-Up-Magic Raptor's Force! When a Raidraptor is destroyed this turn I can summon it and rank it up by one! Appear! Rank five! Raid Raptors - Blaze Falcon!" became energy as it rose in the sky to create a new one that had shades of red and black.

"I reuse what is destroyed, that's the philosophy of the Resistance. You've forgotten all aout that, Rio, by shutting yourself away! Falcon can attack directly when it has an overlay unit!"
Falcon's wings extended and yellow missiles fired at Rio, she shielded herself as they exploded all around her.

"I use Falcon's other effect! I use an overlay unit to destroy your Special Summoned Monster and hit you with 500 damage!"

Rio could only watch as herRagnazero was wiped out thanks to more missiles. She flinched as she took damage.

"I could've believed that before…. but I've seen the truth.. liars… traitors! I use my Trap Xyz Reborn! Raganzero returns with this card being attached as an overlay unit!"

Around the icy field shards begun to circle on Rio's field, they formed around a bright white light. From within the light emerged a silver-haired female. The icy merged with her and created her clothes which were light purple. She had a cape and held a sword.

"Water Force is added to my Xyz Monster and now her effect! This card gains 1000 attack for each overlay unit!"

"I'm wiping you out here, Shun!"
"Shun!" Yuya yelled, he along with the others were now fully worried that Shun was going to lose and whatever plan he had, failed.
"Frozen Lady, attack!"
"I don't think so! Go Raptor Recovery!"
"Raptor Recovery…. that's… that's a Trap Ray made for Shun!" Haruto exclaimed.
"I negate damage and I add two Pendulum Raidraptors from my deck to my hand with attack less than the damage!"
"You're using Pendulums?!" Rio yelled as Frozen Lady's attack was blocked by a flock of birds which formed a shield.
"I add Raidraptor Pendulum Lanius and Pendulum Falcon!"
"I fail to see how they will help! I end my turn!"

"They will, I draw!"
"Do it, Shun!" Yuya cheered.
"I set Pendulum Lanius and Falcon!" As Shun placed them on his duel disk the two beacons appeared. Both mechanical birds had the Raidraptor logo on their chests. Lanius was red while Falcon was blue.

"I use Lanius' effect! I bring back a Xyz Monster from my graveyard to the field!"

"And now Falcon's effect! It allows me to rank up my Xyz Monster by one or two and attach this card as an overlay unit! Go!"
Blaze Falcon fired into the portal which formed above the field.
"Rank Up Evolution!" Blaze Falcon shot back into the whirlpool. "Appear rank seven, Raidraptor - Arsenal Falcon!" A golden and black huge Raidraptor emerged. It had green missiles attached.

"You did all that… with an outsider's cards?!"
"Wrong! She's not an outsider, Rio! These are our new allies! If this card has a Raidraptor as an overlay unit it can attack X the amount of overlay units it has!"
"My Monster is still stronger!"
"When has that stopped us! We've stopped Ancient Gear Golems with Monsters with zero attack! You've really lose your way, Rio and I'm going to change that! I equip Raptor's Ultimate Mace to Arsenal!"

"Lanius' other effect! Xyz Monster's can't be destroyed in battle this turn!"
"No!"
"Arsenal, remove Frozen Lady Justice!"
Falcon flew high into the sky and its missiles landed onto the Xyz Monster, wiping her out.
"Now, attack Rio directly!"
Rio looked high into the sky; there was nothing more she could do. A missile landed in front of her and cracked the ice field apart. Rio was sent skidding across the ground.

"Rio!" yelled Haruto and Anna who ran over to her.
"Yes… I'm fine." she replied.
Shun stood there and looked at Rio, Ruri and Yuya could only watch.
"So… you're the leader now." Rio said. "Take it…."
"Do you still not get it?" Shun responded. "You're not the only one missing your brother! You're not the only one who suffers with this war! Isolating yourself will help no one!"
Anna helped Rio up and once she stood she looked more empathic.
"Regardless… I'll follow you as leader."
"Good. And my first choice as leader… is to make you leader." Shun said as he walked away.
"What?!" Rio responded.
"You heard me. I'll follow you as leader, Rio." Shun said. "But just remember what I said… because next time… I'll keep the role."
Other Group
Yuzu and the others were looking in destroyed homes along a street. The area had been marked as safe by the Resistance. Academia had raided this location so there were plenty of empty homes to search.
"What if Academia attack?" Yuzu asked.
"And we will fight them off." Yuto replied.
The two were looking in one home's kitchen. The cupboards were full but the non-tinned food was all damaged from the assaults. Yuzu and Yuto had bags in which they put the food in.
"Sorry…." Yuzu said.
"What for?"
"We arrived in Xyz somehow and now you have more mouths to feed."
"Not at all." Yuto said. "I know Rio is hostile but… she means well."
"I hope you're right but still…. we were heading towards Standard… we were going to recover at home before heading here but… the teleport glitched… or…"
"You think someone else could've done it?"
"I'm sure of it."
Yuzu and Yuto paused as they heard noises come from outside. It was the sound of a fracas.
The two came out of the house and saw Luna pinning a blonde-haired female down on the ground with Shingo and Ray standing back.
"What happened?!" Yuto enquired.
"Academia!" Luna yelled. Yuzu saw the duel disk of the duelist and it confirmed it.
"This girl just jumped out of that dumpster and…. Luna leapt on her like… a tiger!" Shingo stuttered, shocked by how quickly Luna could move.
"Yeah she's a sharp one." Yuto replied.
"Wait…. I know this girl." Ray said as she slowly approached.
"You do?" Luna answered. "Show yourself!"
The female raised her head up and Ray knew it.
"Gloria!"
"Gloria?!" Yuzu snapped.
"You also know this girl?!"
"Yes, she carded an ally back in Ritual!"
As Yuzu spoke, Luna had taken some handcuffs from her waist and put them on Gloria.
"Get up!" Luna ordered as she forced Gloria up and against the wall. Her hands were tied behind her back so she couldn't get to her duel disk which Luna had removed.
"What are you doing here?!" Shingo yelled in a deep voice.
"Shingo… leave it." Yuto said as he stepped ahead of him.
"I'll wait over here if you need bad cop!"
"Why is an Academia commander out here? This is Ryo's turf!" Luna yelled.
"I'm not a commander anymore!" Gloria yelled back.
"Nonsense!"
"I'm being chased by them! I was brainwashed… captured… and now… chased." Gloria replied.
"Yes…. she's telling the truth." Ray interrupted. "When we were being reprogrammed… Gloria was with me."
"And you got free from Academia's control?" Luna continued.
"They freed me but wanted me to go through it again… during the time I was captured, it turns out my sister defected from Academia…. they wanted to hunt her and… I couldn't do it!" Gloria replied in a desperate tone.
"So after you saw…. Marina beat me…. you ran away in Fusion?" Yuzu asked.
"Yes and I came here via my duel disk teleport."
"So you're defected as well?" Ray asked.
"No! I…. I don't know…"
"It doesn't matter." Luna said. "She's going to rot in the jail."
"Luna!" Yuto yelled, the normally calm Luna looked to him.
"She's still Academia. I understand that people defect, I'm not as harsh as the others… but you heard her!"
"We don't know anything about her!" Ray replied.
"Look, we can't turn them into cards as it fuels Academia's goal so… all we can do is throw them in jail. What else do you want?!"
"A fair chance to talk… via duel!" Ray replied.
"A duel?" Yuzu responded.
"Yeah. Duelists talk through their cards and I have a new deck waiting to be used!"
"She will run off if I let her go! I can't do that!" Luna snapped back.
"Academia have honour… it's why they believe in dueling rather than instantly carding a duelist. They believe that have to earn their utopia."
"…. I hope you're right about this." Luna said.
"So then… do you accept, Gloria?" Ray asked.
"Fine! I'll duel you!"
Ray was released from her handcuffs and took her duel disk. She and Ray walked further up the street each way before activating their duel disks.

"Straight away with the Fusion." Ray thought as the two Monsters merged. Appearing was a female wearing green jungle clothes with a red cape. She wore a skull of a animal on her head.

"I set two cards and end my turn."
"You're going straight into your Fusion… so you intend to defeat me quickly and card me?" Ray asked.
"I said… I don't know how I feel! I refuse to be brainwashed again!"
"Gloria, I understand! I was there in that room with you."
"I'm aware and…. I'm sorry you did, I wouldn't wish it on another."
"So why fight?"
"Because brining you back… the Ritual Angel…. I can still belong to Academia and bring Grace back." Gloria replied.
"She's a traitor, she won't be let back!" Yuzu yelled.
"You don't know that!"

"I draw! I set En Spirit – Musashi and En Spirit – Yamauba in my Pendulum Zones!"
"En Spirit? You weren't using that before?!" Gloria replied.
"I changed my deck… no… I made my new deck!"
Above Ray emerged the two pillars. Inside one was a samurai from ancient Japan wearing his ropes and his hair was tied up. In the other was aged lady with long grey hair and leafs who surrounded her body.

"I Pendulum Summon, appear level four En Spirit – Tengu!" A black demon wearing a red jacket with a purple sash emerged.

"So she kept some of her old cards as well." Yuzu added.
"Next I use the Spell En Spirit Shuffle! I send a En Spirit back to my deck to add one more to my hand. I send Mitsuhide to add Kiyohime! And when Kyohime is added to my hand outside of the Draw Phase, she can appear on the field!" A long black-haired female wearing a long gown of many colors appeared.En Spirit – Kiyohime ATK: 800 DEF: 200 Light/Warrior/Spirit/LVL 3
"I use Spirit Release and tribute Kiyohime and Tengu to Ritual Summon!" A blue circle appeared around the field and the two Monsters flew into it, releasing a blue light from within."Ancient mystic warrior rises from your eternal rest and serves me again to fight against our adversary! Ritual Summon!" A black samurai emerged with golden edges. It had two swords, one on its back and one stored by its side.

"Samurai's effect! I return all cards on the field except Samurai whose levels are four or higher!" "No!" Gloria yelled as Samurai slammed his sword into the ground and the pressure of the slam created a major wind which blew it back to Gloria's extra deck. Samurai clashed his sword with Queen who leapt off from her throne. Queen knocked the sword from Samurai and slashed him across the waist, destroying him.

"I use my other Trap! Amazoness Recovery Squad! If I control an Amazoness which is listed on a Fusion Monster as material, I can bring back that Fusion Monster and increase her attack by 800 until the end of the next turn! Empress return!"

Empress slashed away at Ray who took the hit directly. Ray fell down to the ground, holding her stomach.

"I play Spirit Capture!" Ray yelled as she used a Trap.
"What now?!"
"If I took direct damage I can bring a Ritual Monster back from my graveyard and it can't be destroyed this turn and I take no more damage!"
Samurai emerged back onto the field as Gloria looked annoyed.

"Because I understand! I'm missing my friend and will do anything to get him back… same as how you want to be with Grace again! I use the Spell Final Ritual! I destroy my two cards in my Pendulum Summon to Ritual Summon from my deck!"
"You can do that?!"
"Yes I can! I tribute Musashi and Yamuba!" The blue circle appeared and the two Pendulums shot into it. "Emerge! En Spirit - Nobunaga!"
Emerging was a tall figure in bright red amour with yellow plates around its body. It held two swords.

"Nobunaga negates all effects on your field!" Nobunga glowed as the rest of the Amazoness Monsters also did. "Now, attack!"
Samurai launched forward and easily wiped out Amazoness Swords Woman.

"Nobunaga, take out her Queen!"
Nobunaga followed in a similar move and destroyed the female and her throne.

"I use Nobunaga's other effect! If I destroyed two Monsters or more during this battle, I can tribute it and another Ritual Monster can attack directly!"
"No!" Gloria yelled as Samurai leapt high and over her Empress.
Samurai's sword slammed down onto the ground, the power of the blast sent Gloria flying into the rubble of a nearby house.

"Thank goodness." Yuzu said with relief.
"Now what do we do with her?" Shingo added.
"We will put her in the jail…. but I'll make sure she gets a fair hearing." Luna added as she went over and cuffed Gloria again who looked ashamed.
"Now let's get back."
"Why the rush?"
From within the shadows walked out Ancient One Ritual Dragon within Yuzar's body.
"Yu… Yuzar?!" Ray stuttered.
Around the ground numerous Obelisk Blue students leapt from the shadows and surrounded the group.
"An army?!" Yuzu stated.
"Now then, let's get down to business!" Ancient One said with glee.
Standard Dimension – Leo Corp
"Okay then. We're ready to head to Xyz." Reiji said.
Inside Reiji's office was him, Grace, Gongenzaka, Masumi and Reira.
"Final chance for anyone to pull out."
"Not a chance." Grace said.
"We have a vow to bring everyone home." Gongenzaka added.
"Good. We don't have an exact location for them but Grace knows Xyz since she served there, we have to follow her once we arrive." Reiji explained.
"And, Reira, you must stay with us." Masumi said to the young girl.
"Let's go!" Gongenzaka said slamming his fist into his hand.
Reiji hit his duel disk and a black portal formed. Each one walked through it.
