Chapter 8: A Fiery Finale

Still at Mushroom Castle our friends are now cornered with nowhere else to go. Will they fall and let the darkness emerge victorious? It's time to end this battle once and for all. Almost at the finish line with the city nearly destroyed there seems to be only one chance left...

"Quickly koopas surround the castle and block off all the exits!" ordered Kamek. "They have nowhere to run now."

King Toadstool quickly exits the castle alongside with everyone and wait the MARIO FAMILY!? Didn't they disappear? What is going on? With the koopas surrounding every possible escape it looks like its game over for the side of goodness...

"We're trapped with no way out!" said Mrs. Mario. "What can we do?"

"Just run and blast through with every ounce of strength we have left." said Mr. Mario. "Hopefully we escape with all our pieces together."

Using their last chance and strength the two ran as fast as they could to outrun the massive armies of koopas when...

"There you are mushroom brats." said Kamek. "I've got you now!"

The wizard magically invisible with a powerful dark magic spell snuck behind the group capturing both babies in an instant! Oh no! He then used his wand casting another spell strong enough to immobilize everyone in place including the star spirits! Taking the babies back to an airship it is now game over. Unfortunately, the side of evil has won...

"Mario and Luigi, we lost them!" cried Mrs. Mario.

"My sons there gone." said Mr. Mario in complete silence.

Kamek grinning with victory used his wand to teleport him and the koopa clan back to their kingdom...

"There has to be something or someone that can get them back!" cried Mrs. Mario in a flurry of tears.

"I am afraid there's nothing we can do." said Eldstar. "Kamek's dark magic is very powerful and without a doubt he could use it to sense us coming a mile away. I fear for the world and us all."

"We are very sorry friends." said Skolar. "The future had two different paths it could lead to. Unfortunately, the odds didn't turn in our favor."

"The Yoshi's send our deepest condolences to you Mr. and Mrs. Mario." said the chief walking up to the group. "We understand what it's like to lose one of your own."

"Thank for you all your help." said Queen Toadstool. "There is no way we could ever repay the favor.

"It's our honor your highness." said Chief Yoshi. "I still can't believe our greatest enemies have finally bested us."

"The mission had two possible outcomes." said General Toad. "Just not the one we expected."

"The one we expected is the one that happened General Toad." said King Toadstool walking up to the group. "Once again, the koopa stoopas lose. Isn't that right King Toadstool?"

What a shocking turn of events! Do our eyes deceive us or is their two King Toadstools? Coming up to everyone we see another version of the king and queen alongside the star spirits!? Not to mention the Marios as well. What is going on here...?

"My king there is two of all of you!?" said General Toad with a surprise. "How is this possible?"

The Yoshi's and other Toads were all in shock and confusion as well...

"Well, you see we needed a distraction when I split up with the Queen so the stars spirits could teleport the Mario's to safety." said King Toadstool. "Using their combined magic, they cast a spell powerful enough to create decoys of us."

"That way it could seem like we lost and Kamek would have captured the saviors leaving us be in defeat." said Queen Toadstool. "They also shielded us from being detected as to make Kamek not realize he lost until he won."

"That's pretty clever King and Queen Toadstool." said Chief Yoshi.

"The heart of a true soldier your highnesses." said General Toad. "We are dismissed."

The general and his army headed back to their base satisfied with their next mission complete...

"So where did you send them?" said Chief Yoshi.

"A land where none can follow." said King Toadstool. "A land without magic."

"Is that dangerous?" said Chief Yoshi.

"Wherever they are I have hope that they will be fine." said Queen Toadstool. "They are the chosen ones."

"In that case then it is time for us to head on home." said Chief Yoshi. "Until next time your highnesses."

With that said the star spirts teleported the Yoshi clan home to their island...

"We must head back to our home as well." said Eldstar. "Our power will run down fast being away from Star Haven for too long."

"Thank you, star spirts it was an honor." said King Toadstool.

"I second that my love." said Queen Toadstool.

"The honor was all ours." said the stars in unison.

The star spirits teleported back up through the skies to Star Haven restoring Toad Town and the castle in the process. The battle really is now over with good triumphing over evil once again. Let's head on over and see how will the koopa kingdom is taking its defeat.

"SSCCRREEEEECH!" shouted Kamek so loud it almost broke the Koopa Castle. "I've been tricked with fakes!"

Kamek trying to tap into the fake brothers' power realized he got outplayed.

"That's fine I'll just locate them again and this time secretly kidnap them by myself." said Kamek.

Using his crystal ball, he tried to locate the baby brothers only to find that they are not in this world entirely...

"So, the king and queen managed to send the brothers to a whole other world." said Kamek. "One that cannot be seen or traveled to. That's quite alright eventually they will return one day. It is written in the stars. When that day comes forth, I will have trained young Lord Bowser strong enough to defeat them."

The evil magikoopa then let out a loud cackle strong enough to wake the sleeping Baby Bowser...

"Kamek, it's too noisy in here." said Baby Bower waking then jumping on the wizard's head. "I wanna go sweepy-bye!"

In the finale, everything turned out exactly the way it was supposed to be as written in the stars. Before the story truly ends however, let's go see where our heroes' journey back to this land begins...
