Hello everyone! Well here it is part 1 of the finale for the first season. I am so happy with how much everyone is enjoying the story so far and I'll do my best to keep the story going. Now, one last thing depending on how many views this chapter gets will help me decide how soon I post part 2 of the Finale.

Alright Well, that's about it. Let's get on with the story!

Disclaimer: I do not own Avatar: the last Air-bender or it's associated properties.

The Gaang was currently flying on Appa as they searched for the Northern Water Tribe. They were so close to the North Pole now that they were surrounded by ice burgs and the weather was even colder than it was at the Northern Air Temple.

As they flew Sokka let out a groan before he said sarcastically "I'm not one to complain, but can't Appa fly any higher?" referring to Appa who was flying so low his feet would occasionally dip into the ocean.

Aang a little fed up with Sokka's sarcastic attitude turned around from his spot on Appa's head and growled out "I have an Idea. Why don't we get on your back, and you can fly us to the North Pole."

Sokka just turned around so his back was facing the group as he sarcastically replied "I'd love to. Hop O-"

He was cut off however, by an irritated Dijin who socked him in the stomach and stuttered out due to the cold "Sssshut ttthe hell uuup Sokka. I'm nnnnearly frozen aaaand I've bbbbbbeen flying ffffffor two days ssssssstraight. sssso if yyyyou say oooone more ssssscarstic ttthing, I'm gonnnnnnnna throw yyyou ooooverboard."

Katara who was sitting between the three waved her hands up and down in a calming manner saying "Ok. Ok. Let's calm down guys. Look, I get it. Like Dijin said we've been flying for two days straight and we're all a little irritable." She looked back at Dijin and noticed he wasn't doing very good.

Dijin was curled up into a ball in a corner of the saddle and was trying to wrap the poncho Katara made him around his whole body, he had an icicle forming from one of his nostrils, and the tips of his hair had all been frosted over.

Katara quickly dug into her things grabbing her sleeping bag and turned it into a make-shift blanket before moving over to Dijin and wrapping the warm blanket around him.

Katara looked at him with concern before saying "You okay Dijin? I'm sure we'll find the Northern Water Tribe soon."

Dijin just shivered and said "I should be fine. I'm just used to the warm temperatures of the Earth Kingdom. I've honestly never been this far North before."

Katara nodded her head in understanding before saying "Well, don't worry once we find the Northern Water Tribe, I'm sure they'll have something to warm you up."

Dijin smiled at her before suddenly a huge wave crashed into Appa making him collide with an ice burg and roar in pain. Appa then tried to correct himself but suddenly the water turned to ice and tried to capture one of his six legs.

However, Appa was going so fast he broke the ice but the force of the ice breaking sent Appa into a tail-spin causing the Gaang to hold on for dear life with Dijin screaming "This is my nightmare!"

Finally, Appa landed in the water skipping a few times like a stone before coming to stop but he was soon trapped by the water around him turning into ice as the Gaang got ready for a fight.

The ice burgs that were surrounding them were then suddenly moved to the side and the Gaang was surprised to find that their Attackers were actually Water-benders on boats.

Katara's eyes brightened in happiness as she said "They're Water-benders! We found the Water Tribe."

One of the boats approached them with a team of Water-benders instantly getting into fighting positions with water at the ready. Then a man who appeared to be the leader approached them saying "You have entered Northern waters. Leave now and you will not be harmed."

Katara eyes widened realizing that they thought they were an enemy so she quickly stood up and said "Wait! My name is Katara and this is my brother Sokka." she then motioned to her brother before continuing "We have traveled all the way from the Southern Water Tribe to bring someone very special to train under your masters." She then quickly grabbed Aang and showed his Tattoos to the Water-benders before saying "We have brought the Avatar! Please you must help us."

The leader looked at Aang's tattoos while the other Water-benders murmured to themselves before the leader smiled and shouted "Let it be known throughout the North! The Avatar has returned!"

The Water-benders then all raised their fists and chanted "HAROO! HAROO!"

The Leader smiled at the Gaang and said "Please follow us. we will get you food, shelter, and some warm clothing for your friend there." The leader motioned to Dijin who still looked nearly frozen but was able to give a thumbs up.

Aang smiled at the Water-bender and said "Lead the way."

The Gaang was currently following the Water-benders with Appa choosing to swim instead of flying.

Aang quickly brightened up when he saw a giant wall made of ice that had the Water Tribe symbol on the center of it and shouted "Look, there it is!"

Katara seeing the wall whispered out "The Northern Water Tribe. We're finally here."

The Water-benders led them to the wall and when they were close enough the Water-benders waved their hands in a large circle in front of themselves before pushing their arms down. Then at the same time sections of the Ice wall came down allowing the Water-benders and the Gaang to enter a little canal blocked by another wall.

Next some Water-benders that were posted on the wall itself started to melt the ice by getting into a wide stance and pushing their arms down. Soon the canal filled with enough water for Appa to swim over the wall and enter the Northern Water Tribe City.

The City itself was made entirely out of Ice and instead of sidewalks the city had a network of interconnecting canals where Water-benders transported goods and people with Water-bending on boats.

As Appa followed their guide to their destination Katara excitedly said "I can't believe how many Water-benders live up here."

Aang smiled at his surroundings and said "We'll find a master to teach us no problem."

As they were getting close to their destination a fancy looking boat with white and blue colors was slowly making its way past Appa and Sokka got an instant blush at who he saw on the boat.

On the fancy boat was a young woman who looked to be about sixteen, she had dark skin, she had light blue eyes, she wore no make-up having a natural beauty to her, she had on a dark blue parka that went all the way to her ankles, under her Parka she wore a white fur lined robe that went to her ankles and split at her knees, she had on white leggings, on her feet were fur lined moccasins, she had her hair done up in two loops on top of her head with two long braids going over her shoulders, but the most beautiful thing about her was that her hair was as white as a full moon

Katara looking at all the amazing things the Water-benders had made said "This place is beautiful."

Sokka who had ran down to Appa's tail to get a better look at the girl said dreamily "Yeah, she is."

Dijin and Katara looked at Sokka weirdly and then looked at each other before they shrugged their shoulders together and focused on what looked like their destination.

They had apparently been led to an Ice palace that was surrounded by water with what looked like a training ground and it even had water cascading down its walls. they were soon led inside and were placed at the chiefs table along with his wife before suddenly the room began to fill with entertainers, food, and music of all kinds. It wasn't long before the party was in full swing and everyone was soon enjoying themselves.

Dijin was currently stuffing his face with as much hot food as he could doing a good impression of Sokka while also wearing a dark blue Parka that went to his thighs along with some mittens.

Katara was just laughing at Dijin while also happy he was feeling better.

Aang was watching the entertainers and musicians with excitement

Sokka was just being himself and like Dijin was stuffing his face.

Suddenly the chief stood up then made an announcement saying "Tonight, we celebrate the arrival of our brother and sister from the Southern Tribe." he paused to motion to Katara and Sokka before saying "And they have brought with them someone very special, someone who many of us believed disappeared from this world until now... The Avatar." He then motioned to Aang who was sitting next to him and as the chief talked the Gaang got a good look at him.

He was man who looked to be in his mid-thirties, he had dark skin, he had black hair that went to his upper back but had a small wolf-tail at the back of his head, he had two small braids that went to his neck, he had a black goatee that covered his chin, he wore a blue fur lined parka that went to his shins which had short sleeves, but he had fur and bandages wrapped around his arms, there was a bone necklace around his neck that had tiger-seal teeth and a Water Tribe ornament in the center, he wore blue loose-fitting pants, and on his feet were grey boots.

The chief brightened up as he got ready to make his next announcement as he said "We also celebrate my daughter's sixteenth birthday. Princess Yue is now of marrying age." the chief then stepped aside and Sokka's jaw hit floor along with the food he had been chewing because Princess Yue was actually the same girl he had been staring at on their way to the palace.

Princess Yue smiled at her Father and said "Thank you, Father." she then faced the crowd and said "May the great Ocean and Moon spirits watch over us during these troubled times."

The crowd cheered at her words before the princess walked over and took a seat next to Sokka as the chief spoke up again saying "Now, Master Pakku and his students will perform!"

Dijin stopped eating honestly curious on how master Water-benders actually did their bending and began to watch with rapt attention.

Then as if on cue a Water-bender who appeared to be in his early sixties along with two younger Water-benders began to demonstrate their skill as a unit by moving in sync.

They first raised their hands bending their wrists before crouching slightly and rotating their hands in a circle. they leaned on their dominate legs and spread out the other leg while pushing their right hands forward but bending their wrists at the same time.

While they moved in sync three jars of water came to life. first the water intertwined with one another before separating and making the symbol for the Air Nomads before morphing into the symbol of the Earth Kingdom before finally morphing into the symbol of the Water Tribe. To finish off the display the Water-benders raised their wrists and clenched their hands sending the water into the air before it turned into snow gently falling onto the crowd

The whole room erupted in applause at the skill of the master and his students as the Water-benders took a bow and Sokka tried his hand at flirting with the Princess.

Sokka first tried by saying "Hi there. Sokka, Southern Water Tribe."

The princess smiled at Sokka saying "It's very nice to meet you."

They both then started to look around the room awkwardly unsure of what to say to one another.

After a couple seconds Sokka tried saying "So, uh... You're a princess, Huh?" Sokka then smirked and pointed at himself before saying "You know, back in my tribe, I'm kind of like a prince myself." and while he talked the princess leaned in closer to listen to him with a look of pure interest.

Katara after hearing her brother's statement looked at him like he grew a second head before saying "Ha! The prince of what?!"

Sokka glared at his sister saying "A lot of things! Do you mind? I'm trying to have a conversation here."

Dijin took a bite out of a piece of crab before saying "And failing miserably at it."

Katara giggled at Dijin's statement before she did a mock bow to her brother saying "As you wish prince Sokka. We shall leave you in peace."

Sokka glared at the two for mocking him before turning his attention back to the princess and said "So, it looks like I'm gonna be in town for a while. I'm thinking maybe we could... Do an activity together?"

The princess raised an eyebrow at Sokka before smiling and saying questioningly "Do an activity?"

Sokka after hearing what he said sat straight up before stuffing his face with food awkwardly as Katara and Dijin leaned in close both saying at the same time "Very smooth."

After the awkward conversation with the princess the chief called Aang down to talk with Master Pakku.

Once Aang was in front of the Master the chief spoke up saying "Master Pakku, Meet your newest student. The Avatar." Aang bowed to the master and got a good look at him.

Like most of the people from the Water Tribe he had dark skin, he wore a dark blue parka that went to his thighs and had three fur tassels on the front, he was bald save for some snow-white hair on the back of his head that went to his upper back and the two strands that went over his shoulders, he had a small white fu-man-chu mustache that went to his chin and a white soul patch, he had dark blue eyes, on his lower body were dark blue loose-fitting pants, and on his feet were tai chi shoes.

Master Pakku looked at Aang with a critical eye before saying "Just because you're destined to save the world, don't expect any special treatment."

Aang smiled at the master before saying "My friend and I can't wait to start training with you... after we relax for a couple days."

Master Pakku frowned at Aang's nonchalant attitude towards his training and said irritably "If you want to relax then I suggest you travel to a tropical island otherwise I'll see you both at sunrise. Am I understood?"

Aang instantly stood straight and said "Yes, sir! I understand."

Master Pakku nodded his head before saying "Very well, goodnight." he then turned around and left the festivities with the chief shrugging his shoulders at Aang who looked at him questioningly.

As Master Pakku was leaving Dijin quickly approached him and said "Master Pakku! May I please speak with you a moment."

Master Pakku stopped walking and turned to face Dijin who bowed in respect to the master as Pakku said "You're the Earth-bender who came along with the Avatar if I'm not mistaken." he then stood straight with his arms crossed behind his back as he said "Yes, you may. But be quick about it. I have a class to teach at sunrise."

Dijin bowed his head in respect again before saying "Thank you. My name is Dijin and It's actually about your class that I wanted to speak to you about."

Dijin took second to collect his thoughts before he said "You see, I've spent most of my life in the Earth Kingdom and my knowledge of the other nations is limited but after witnessing your talent as a Master Water-bender I was hoping you would allow me to observe your class so I could learn more about your way of fighting"

Master Pakku raised an eyebrow at Dijin's statement and asked "And why would an Earth-bender want to learn about Water-bending? It won't benefit you in the end."

Dijin just smoothly replied "Someone wise once told me that the Four Nations are strongest as a union and if I'm to help the Avatar on his journey it is best that I learn from the other nations just like he is."

Master Pakku looked at Dijin's face and could instantly tell the young man was wise beyond his years and was serious about learning. So he nodded his head and said "Very well, since you have a valid reason and have showed me respect, I'll allow you to observe my lessons. However, if you do anything to disrupt my class, I'll escort you out personally. Am I clear?"

Dijin just bowed again while placing his right fist into his left palm saying "Thank you, Master Pakku."

The Master just nodded his head and turned around before saying "I'll see you at sunrise with the others. Don't be late." he then walked away and out of the palace leaving behind a trio of excited benders.

At sunrise the next morning Aang, Katara, and Dijin made their way back to palace where Master Pakku said to meet for training.

As the trio walked Katara looked at her two friends and excitedly said "I've waited for this day my whole life. I finally get to learn from a real Water-bending Master."

As Katara finished talking, the trio had just finished climbing some stairs and came across Master Pakku Water-bending a ball of Water in his hands.

Aang seeing the Master instantly shouted out "Good morning, Master Pakku!" Causing the Master to lose his concentration and drop the water he had been bending.

Master Pakku irritated that his training was interrupted said sarcastically "No, please! March right in! I'm not concentrating or anything."

Aang realizing his blunder just awkwardly said "Uh, this is my friend Katara... the one I told you about." he then motioned to her with his right hand.

Master Pakku looked at Katara for second before waving his hand to the side Water-bending a chair made of ice. He then sat down on it as he said "I'm sorry. I think there's been a misunderstanding. You didn't tell me your friend was a girl. In our tribe, it is forbidden for women to learn Water-bending. I cannot teach you."

Katara was instantly infuriated at the sexist Water-bender and shouted "What do you mean you won't teach me?! I didn't travel across the world so you could tell me no!"

Master Pakku just stared at her and blankly said "No."

Katara growled before saying "But there must be female Water-benders in your tribe."

Master Pakku just sighed before saying "Here, the women learn from Yagoda to use their Water-bending to heal. I'm sure she would be happy to take you as her student." He then coughed into his hand before saying "Despite your bad attitude."

Katara just replied angrily "I don't want to heal. I want to fight!"

Master Pakku just raised an eyebrow at her and said "I can see that. But our tribe has customs, rules."

Katara replied with "Well, your rules stink!"

Aang joined her saying "Yeah! They're not fair."

Dijin stepped forward next saying "Master Pakku, I understand your people have traditions but I have personally seen Katara use her Water-bending firsthand and I can promise you she would be your best student if you gave her a chance."

Katara smiled at Aang and Dijin for their support as Master Pakku said "Your right Dijin, my people do have traditions and while I respect you for standing up for your friend, I would appreciate it if you stayed out of my peoples matters."

Dijin bowed his head and said "Yes Master Pakku, I meant no offence."

The Master nodded his head at Dijin while also being a little impressed at how respectful he was towards his tribes' culture as Aang spoke up again saying "If you won't teach Katara, then..."

Master Pakku stood up and said "Then what Avatar?"

Aang just yelled "Then I won't learn from you!" Aang then made his way to leave the training grounds.

As he walked away Master Pakku shouted after him "Well, have fun teaching yourself. I'm sure you'll do a great job."

Katara realizing Aang was making a big mistake quickly said "Wait! Aang didn't mean that." She then ran over to Aang as Dijin waited with Pakku.

Once she was next to Aang she grabbed his arm saying "You can't risk your training for me. You have to learn from Master Pakku, even if he is a big jerk."

Aang just reluctantly nodded his head as Katara left the training area to find Yagoda with a dejected look on her face.

Aang looked at Master Pakku with an angry frown as the Master smirked at him saying "Now, let's get started, shall we?" he then waved both his hands at Aang using water from a nearby fountain to Water-bend a wave of water at Aang which knocked him off his feet and into a pile of snow.

Dijin let out a laugh as he said "Ok. That was pretty good."

Master Pakku just smirked at Dijin saying "If you thought that was good wait till you see what comes next." Master Pakku then turned around in a full circle and waved his arms upwards and bending his wrists turning the snow Aang was stuck inside into ice making Aang look like a pretzel as Pakku and Dijin laughed at Aang's expense.

After the two messed with Aang for a few more minutes Master Pakku started having him do basic bending drills while he made some meat and noodles for himself and Dijin.

Aang began the drills by holding an orb of water between his hands as he tried to make it move back and forth smoothly like Master Pakku had showed him but was having difficulty. While the Master and Dijin were just sitting down across from each other a few feet away.

As Master Pakku stirred the two bowls of soup he was making with Water-bending he didn't even have to look at Aang but could still tell he was doing the exercise wrong and commented "You're moving the water around, but you're not feeling the push and the pull."

Aang just growled and said aggravatingly "I'm trying."

Master Pakku handed Dijin his bowl of noodles while he tipped his own bowl into his mouth and slurped up the meal in one bite.

After he swallowed Master Pakku then looked at Aang and said condescendingly "Maybe that move is too advanced for you. Why don't you try an easier one?"

Dijin at that point had tipped his own bowl of noodles into his mouth getting a generous portion of broth, noodles, and meat and his eyes widened at the taste enjoying it immensely.

He then looked at Pakku after hearing what he said about Aang's training and commented "Have you thought about making him balance on a slab of Ice in the middle of a cold pool of water? I bet that will help him focus."

Aang looked at Dijin with his jaw hanging completely shocked at the suggestion of extreme training. But he then looked at Master Pakku and gained a look of panic because the Master had his hand on his chin considering the idea.

While Dijin slurped another mouthful of noodles Master Pakku shook his head after a couple seconds and said "While that sounds effective, I think I'll save that Idea for another day." Master Pakku then let out a chuckle while Dijin joined him.

Aang just growled at the two bonding benders and threw the water he was bending on the ground with a yell saying "Arrrg."

After training all day the Gaang minus Sokka had gathered at the home given to them during their stay. They were all currently gathered in the den doing their own thing. Dijin had made a pot of tea and was currently drinking a cup, Aang was laying down on his stomach pouting over the day's events while occasionally giving Dijin a slight glare, and Katara was just sitting down with an angry frown on her face.

Suddenly Sokka came storming in with an angry frown on his own face.

Katara thinking it something to do with his own training asked "How's Warrior training going?"

Sokka just kicked a nearby cushion as Katara said "That bad?"

Sokka just growled before saying "It's not training, It's Princess Yue. First, she wants to go out with me, and now she's telling me to get lost." He quickly calmed down as he looked at Aang and Katara while asking "So, how's Water-bending training going?"

Katara just angrily plopped down on a cushion while Aang said "Master poop-head won't teach her because she's a girl."

Dijin then flicked a piece of Ice at Aang's forehead which made him say "Ow! What was that for Dijin?!"

Dijin just sipped his tea and said "Don't disrespect Master Pakku because your mad. He has his reasons and while I don't agree with them, I understand nonetheless."

Aang just frowned at Dijin and said "Says the guy who ate noodles and drank tea with him while making my entire training session a nightmare."

Katara looked at Dijin angrily and said "You what!?"

Dijin started to get a little nervous and said "It's not like I asked him to make me noodles he was just being a good host."

Katara just got in face and grabbed his teacup then pointed at it saying "And the tea?"

Dijin just smiled nervously saying "What's a bowl of noodles without good tea?"

Katara slammed his cup on the table and yelled saying "Ugh! I can't believe you! That jerk of a Water-bender won't teach me because of some sexist bullshit and is giving Aang a hard time during training. So, now here you are getting all buddy-buddy with him? What in the spirits is wrong with you!?"

Katara was leaning over Dijin at this point who was cowering down in slight fear because unbeknownst to Katara in her anger she had made spider-web cracks throughout their Ice house and looked like it would collapse if not repaired soon.

Sokka also seeing the cracks had an idea to calm his sister down and said "Hey Katara, why doesn't Aang teach you Water-bending?"

Katara instantly brightened up and turned to face her brother while saying "That's brilliant! Why didn't I think of that?!" she then turned towards Aang as she said "At night, you can teach me whatever moves you learn from Master Pakku. That way, you have someone to practice with, and I get to learn Water-bending. Everyone's happy."

Sokka just grumbled and said "I'm not happy."

Katara just glared at her brother and said "Yeah, but your never happy." she then looked at Dijin and said "Come on Dijin you're coming with me and Aang as our lookout."

Dijin did a spit take with a stream of tea leaving his mouth as he coughed and said "What?"

Katara frowned at him and put her hands on her hips saying "You heard me. After getting all buddy-buddy with that jerk you owe me and Aang."

Dijin was going to argue but Katara's frown deepened and Dijin noticed the ice tremble slightly so he quickly stood up saying "Yes ma'am, lead the way."

Katara smiled and turned around before she said "Alright guys lets go." The trio then left leaving a grumpy Sokka behind.

The trio had been able to find a secluded spot near a canal and bridge for the two Water-benders to practice. Katara and Aang were down by the water practicing while Dijin was up on the bridge keeping a look-out.

Aang was rotating his arms in a sideways circle while bending his wrists and the water followed his command rotating in a circle as well. Aang then explained the move to Katara while sending the water her way. "Master Pakku said this move is all about sinking and floating."

Katara held her hands out and rotated them mimicking Aang perfectly and getting the move. She quickly brightened up saying "I got it!"

However, suddenly the water came to life rotating around Katara like a snake before separating then turning to ice and falling to the ground in an arc.

Aang blown away by her skill said with his hands on his head "That was amazing! How did you do that?"

Katara looked at the ice curiously and said "That wasn't me."

Suddenly they heard someone clear their throat and they quickly looked up at the bridge where Dijin was keeping a lookout and they both began to panic. Standing up on the bridge was Master Pakku with Dijin frozen in a block ice shrugging his shoulders apologetically.

Aang seeing they were caught tried to explain saying "I was just showing Katara a few moves."

Master Pakku just frowned and spoke in a tone that was cold as ice "You have disrespected me, my teachings, and my entire culture."

Aang still trying to defend himself said "I'm sorry, I-"

Master Pakku just cut him off saying "You are no longer welcome as my student."

He then made to leave but stopped and looked at Dijin before shaking his head in disappointment. He then pushed his right-hand down palm first turning the ice block into water as he left the three benders. Dijin however, just remained slumped on the ground with his head held down in shame.

The next morning Katara, Aang, Sokka, and Dijin were standing in front of the Northern Water Tribe council in the palace. The council consisted of the Chief, his wife, Princess Yue, Master Pakku, and a couple unnamed elders. The trio had just finished pleading their case to the council for Aang to resume his training and were waiting for the Chief's response.

The Chief looked at the trio with a frustrated look and said "What would you have me do? Force Master Pakku to take Aang back as his student?"

Katara didn't hesitate to say "Yes... Please."

The Chief replied with "I suspect he might change his mind if you swallow your pride and apologize to him."

Katara instantly frowned at the prospect of having to apologize to Master Pakku but she looked back at Aang and her gaze softened somewhat before she turned around and faced the council saying "Fine."

Master Pakku gained a smug smirk as he said "I'm waiting little girl."

Katara's frown returned full force as any thoughts of apologizing were out the window now while she shouted "No! No way will I ever apologize to a sexist, sour, bitter old man like you!" as Katara was shouting she had been waving her arms behind herself sending spider-web cracks across the floor before shattering it completely and shocking everyone present.

Katara then pointed at Master Pakku and said in a determined tone "Meet me outside if your man enough to fight me!" Katara then turned around and marched outside the others following after her.

As Katara made her way down the stairs outside Sokka was trying to talk her out of the fight saying "Katara stop this! You're not gonna win this fight."

Katara's answer was to take off her parka and throw it in her brothers face saying "I know. I don't care."

Aang spoke to her next saying "You don't have to do this for me. I can find another teacher."

Katara reached the bottom of the stairs as she replied angrily "I'm not doing it for you! Someone needs to slap some sense into that guy."

Dijin was the final one to speak saying "Katara you're a good Water-bender but I saw Pakku's skill personally yesterday this isn't going to end well for either of you."

Katara just growled saying "Just shut up and watch."

Just then Master Pakku made his way down the stairs and towards Katara as she said "So, you decided to show up?"

However, Master Pakku just ignored her continuing to walk away as he said "Go back to the healing huts where you belong."

Katara pissed at the statement didn't hold back and held her hand to the side turning some snow into a Water-whip. She quickly reeled her arm back and cracked the whip hitting Pakku in the back of his head making him stumble a bit.

Master Pakku stood straight and growled before saying "Fine. You want to learn to fight so bad, study closely." He quickly turned around spreading his arms out and at the same time the water in two fountains on either side of him came to life, creating a ring of water around himself and Katara.

Pakku then waved his hands in front of himself up and down making the ring shrink in size as he mockingly said "Don't worry I'm not going to hurt you."

Katara who was forced to move more inward because of the water just glared at Pakku before she waved both her hands to the side making Pakku's Water-ring disperse and send the water towards a crowd that had gathered but only for Sokka to get wet.

Katara quickly ran towards Pakku who raised his hands with splayed fingers creating a curved Ice-wall but Katara just jumped and slid on the wall fluidly before jumping and landing on a small pillar next to the stairs.

Master Pakku waved his arms behind himself then forward turning the Ice-wall into a large wave and sent it straight for Katara.

Katara seeing the wave twisted her feet making Ice form up to her ankles as the wave hit her. However, she dispersed it with a wave of her hands and she stayed in her position due to the ice.

She then unbent the ice from her feet and jumped down getting in a fighting stance as she said "You can't knock me down!"

Dijin and Aang both cheered for Katara with Aang saying "Go, Katara!" and Dijin saying "Yeah! Show him what your made of!"

Katara then charged Pakku as he waved his arm up creating an Ice-wall but she waved her own arm turning it into water before she tried attacking Pakku with a few well-placed jabs.

However, Pakku just bent his wrist up and down blocking her strikes before turning some of the snow next to him into water and waving his arm at Katara sending the Water at her which knocked her into a nearby fountain.

Katara quickly popped her upper body out of the water before making a small Ice-pillar in front of her. Next, she placed her hands on top of the pillar waving her hands forward sending sharp Ice-disks at Pakku.

Pakku's eyes widened in surprise before they hardened and he quickly bent his wrists left and right breaking the Ice-disks thrown his way. However, one disk came a little too close for comfort as he had to dodge it but caught his struggling expression in the reflection of the Ice.

Pakku then looked at Katara somewhat impressed as she jumped out of the fountain sending a stream of water at Pakku in the process.

Pakku just rotated in a circle waving his arms in a circle as well before turning the stream into two waves as he thrusted his hands forward with his fingers curled while both waves hit Katara dead-on. She was quickly knocked to the ground with some of her hair coming loose including her hair-loops.

Katara got on her hands and knees before exhaling, her breath being seen in the cold air before she quickly stood up with her arms spread and fingers splayed creating two giant Ice-pillars she then clenched her fists before waving her arms downwards making the pillars fall on Pakku.

Pakku however, just waved his arms upward bending his wrists turning the pillars into snow as he got into another stance saying "I have to admit I'm impressed. You are an excellent Water-bender."

Katara got into a stance of her own as she said "But you still won't teach me, will you?"

Master Pakku frowned as he said "No."

Katara just waved her arms up and down sending a wave of Ice at Pakku who waved his arms upwards creating a giant Ice-pillar to stand on before waving his arms backwards turning the pillar into a wave as he surfed it towards Katara.

Katara waved her right arm with a knife-hand jab at Pakku sending a stream of water at him but he jumped and dodged it while waving his left arm in an arc turning his wave into a curved Ice-bridge that he skated on. Then while he skated, he waved his right hand creating a snow-whip that he struck Katara with as he jumped and landed by a fountain.

Katara fell to the ground her necklace coming loose along with the rest of her braid, her hair now loose and spread out behind her back.

Pakku finally having had enough of this fight waved his arms upward and the water in the fountain followed his command as it went upwards as well. He then splayed his fingers turning the water into Ice-spikes before he pointed his fingers at Katara and the spikes fell to the ground around her trapping her in an Ice-prison.

Katara tried to get out but the Ice was too strong and despite her skill as a bender she wasn't skilled enough to melt Ice this thick.

As she struggled Pakku walked away from her saying "This fight is over."

Katara just continued to struggle saying "Come back here. I'm not finished yet!"

Master Pakku just continued to walk away saying "Yes. You are."

However, Master Pakku stopped walking as something glinting caught his eye. He bent down and saw Katara's necklace and his eye's widened in shock as he picked it up saying "This is my necklace."

Katara angry that Pakku was trying to claim her mother's necklace shouted "No, it's not! It's mine. Give it back!"

Pakku looked at Katara with sorrowful eyes as he said "I made this 60 years ago... for the love of my life... for Kana." Pakku then lowered his head as his ice spikes holding Katara melted.

Katara stood up as she looked at Pakku in shock saying "My Gran-Gran was supposed to marry you?"

Pakku looked at Katara again and said "I carved this necklace for your Grandmother when we got engaged." He then looked to the sky as if trying to hold on to the memory he was remembering as he said "I thought we would have a long happy life together. I loved her." he looked down again as a tear escaped his eye.

Katara now understanding Master Pakku a little more said "My Grandmother... She didn't love you back, Did she? It was an arranged marriage." Katara walked forward and placed a comforting hand on Master Pakku's arm and said "Gran-Gran wouldn't let your tribes' customs control her life." Katara then walked away and looked out to the sea saying "That's why she left. It must have taken a lot of courage."

Pakku looked at the necklace fondly one last time as he considered Katara's words before walking over to her and handing the necklace to her as he said "And she has passed on that courage to you Katara. I hope that fierce attitude of yours hasn't left you yet, you're going to need it."

Katara put her necklace back on as she said "What do you mean?"

Master Pakku just smirked and said "It means I'll see you at sunrise, Pupil Katara."

Everyone present gasped in shock as they witnessed Master Pakku accept a woman as his student for the first time.

Katara's eyes widened before she smiled and placed her right fist in her left palm and bowed saying "Thank you, Master."

Master Pakku then made his way through the crowd before stopping next to Dijin and looked at him saying "And I hope to see you there as well Dijin, I could use some more of those training ideas of yours."

Dijin smiled at Master Pakku before gaining a sly smirk saying "Oh, I've got plenty, trust me on that." The two then shared a laugh as Aang got a sudden chill down his spine.

The next morning Master Pakku and Dijin were sharing a couple bowls of noodles again as they watched Master Pakku's students struggle with their new training exercise.

The students were all standing on small slabs Ice that were only big enough to stand on. Next the slabs were floating in the middle Ice-cold water as the students were forced to practice their bending while balancing on the slabs and if they lost focus they would plummet into the icy water.

Katara chose then to show up, her hair back in its normal braid as she ran up to Pakku and Dijin saying "Sorry! Sokka was taking forever in the restroom."

Aang who was balancing on a slab saw her and said "Hi, Katara!" However, due to him losing his focus he ended up slipping on his slab and went straight into the water.

Master Pakku and Dijin just shook their heads at Aang before Pakku set his bowl aside and gave Katara a slight glare and said in a rough voice "What are you doing here!"

Katara gained a shocked look not understanding Pakku's change in attitude.

However, Master Pakku just gave her a friendly smirk before saying "It's past sunrise Katara, your late." He then got into a battle stance as he said "As punishment you're going to have to spar with me. Sound fair?"

Katara gave him a determined smirk of her own as she said "You bet." The two then began their spar as Dijin slurped his noodles enjoying the show and enjoying his time at the North Pole.

However sadly, none were aware that the war was finally going to reach the North pole or of the horrible tragedy that would follow.
