IT'S CHANGED! (SNILY)
CHAPTER 2 Just a little piece of mind

Severus' eyes were fixedly glaring on Potter and Black, those bastards deserved every ill-happening to happen to them. At least he used his own creation- Sectumsempra on Potter, seeing the blood rush out from his cheek gave him some consolation. His own hands were now busy trying to cover his greying underwear, securing it from the prying eyes of the crowd gathered there, laughing at him. His face was already exceedingly red with public embarrassment and anger towards the Marauders. The only other thing blossomed on his face, too evident to a person who knew him was- hurt.

He saw that beautiful face with red flying hair and green eyes, he loved. He loved the smile on that face but a smile for his embarrassment? He couldn't believe Lily would laugh at him in such a compromising situation… caused by Potter. Was she flattered by Potter's attention which caused him pain… Severus pain… her best friend pain? Everyone present there blurred, he had only eyes for Lily at that moment, trying to decipher her. It hurt him so bad that he wanted to sit there and weep like a little boy for something he had experienced. That is when something else arose in him… it was spite. He wanted Lily to feel the same pain she caused to him. He wanted her to feel how much it was hurting to do such a thing to your supposed best friend.

She was nevertheless yelling on Potter to 'leave him alone', was she just joking or was it a genuine to save him from the torments of the Marauders? He would never know. But if it was genuine, wouldn't she had already cursed Potter for doing so to him? Who would know?

The next his head crashed with the ground and a piercing pain shot in his neck, and well… to worsen the situation he was met again by Potter's smug voice.

"You're lucky, Evans was here, Snivellus-"

"I don't need help from filthy little mudblood like her" he growled, he had said it, this would have hurt at the right spot. But why the fucking hell would he say something like that to Lily? She will never talk to him again, only the thought of it was enough to make his throat constrict with tears again.

"Apologise to her!", Potter growled at him.

"I don't want you to make him apologise" she roared at Potter and then gave a hurt but cold stare to Severus. He promised he would never call her that word, hadn't he? "And I wouldn't bother you in future. I'd wash your pants if I were you, Snivellus".

She wouldn't keep behind in hurting Severus if he was doing the same to her. She knew how much he hated the name and she taunted him over his poverty? He wasn't even mistaken for that… yeah … but she wasn't mistaken for her heritage either. Why would he call her that? People called her that everyday… but hearing the same from Severus' mouth- hurt, hurt really bad.

The hurt filled her eyes with tears, but she wiped them furiously, she wouldn't cry on someone like Sev… NO! … Snape. She showed her back to them and began walking, wouldn't even want to see the face of him… this is when…

"Well… Well, I here see the words are worse than actions… Interesting" a confident male voice came from the back of the crowd. Everyone's face tilted backwards and the crowd parted to show who was there.

A girl who was casually blowing on her newly done manicure with mahogany coloured hair and pale blue eyes- a 6th year Slytherin was standing beside the boy whose brown eyes scanned the scene lazily. He had tanned skin and brown hair… Severus remembered him to be a 6th year Ravenclaw. Why were they here? Well, Severus' mind wasn't at the right place now… he could just worry about one thing now- Lily, whose head was also turned to see the courageous pair which came to disturb Marauders fun.

"So, how is it going on… having fun Potter, Black… hmm?" the girl sneered towards them, her eyes suddenly bored too much fire for Pettigrew to take in, he recoiled back. The Ravenclaw boy with her meanwhile went to straighten Severus.

"What do you want Solace? You are not invited…" Black growled at her.

She didn't even budge a centimetre. "You are tormenting my housemate, now isn't that my concern to see for his well-being?" she circled the place to stand just in front of Potter and Black.

"He is just Snivelly, you can remain out of it, we are just giving him a good piece of mind" Potter said stiffly.

"Good piece of mind? I say more like trying to flatter Evans through all this… and I must say tormenting her best friend isn't the best way to do so. And yes, Potter may I ask how old are you… Is it five because the words you use do point towards it?" she said casually, liking the way the conversation was going, when the crowd snickered and Potter blushed under her gaze.

"Get to the point Selene, don't waste their time, now would you like to do that?" the boy said from Severus' side.

"Right, so would you mind to tell me Potter and Black, that why are you doing this whatever fun you are having?" Selene asked.

"It's not like we are answerable to you, Solace, but still, he is just a slimy snake who will be joining His ranks soon, so better have one less Death- Eater." Black stated proudly.

"Oh… choking someone on soap and dropping him from a height which can make the spine crack to make them have nutrients through straw their entire life is just fine, isn't it Black? You'll surely make your mum proud by giving such convincible arguments for your Dark deeds", people still crowded around them.

"Don't compare me with those, Solace, I'm nothing like them, not like you and certainly not like Snivellus… you all crave for Dark arts and I never used it" he hissed while she smirked.

"Dark Arts is not just about using your blood and crushed bones for potions, Black. It reaches out for intent, any spell cast with an intent to kill… just like you portrayed a few moments ago… is Dark. I wonder why are bullies like you still allowed to freely roam around and torment others for merely existing. Is this killing for existence a rule in the purebloods, because the people you are against have the same say… principles?" She glared at them.

"I SAID I'M NOTHING LIKE THEM, SO, YOU SHUT UP!" Black yelled, drawing his wand.

Selene still did not reach for her wand, merely went to tower over Lupin. "I believed you were a Prefect, Lupin but I see how low you lay and how coward you in standing against your own so-called friends." Lupin cringed at that, but she continued "They are here humiliating someone in public and choking them to death perhaps when you seem too much interested in your book?" she sneered at how pathetic he was.

"Don't bring him in this!" Potter hissed to her, but she paid no heed. Instead took her wand out and pointed it towards Pettigrew who in return recoiled even more, now almost trying to hide in the tree behind him.

"Leave him alone, you bigoted belligerent!" Potter shouted this time, pointing his wand at her.

"Oh… now I'm a bigoted belligerent, Potter? A while ago someone else was asking to do the same thing but you never budged, now did you? Anyways we must get to the headmaster for what you do, Potter- and you too Black." she smirked at their slightly shocked faces. She left Pettigrew's side and went towards Severus who was leaning on Shane- the Ravenclaw boy still with a scowl on his face, just because he couldn't properly stand, otherwise he didn't need anyone's help.

"Get moving, Snape, we don't have the entire day. Shane, take him to Hospital- "

"What is going on here?" a thunderous authoritative voice came from behind of the crowd and everyone's faces tilted again to see that it was Frank Longbottom. "Mind to tell me, because some first years are complaining that people are drawing wands on each other?"

"At least the first years have brains, calling a responsible Prefect" Shane muttered under his breath.

Lupin was standing now, "James and Sirius were troubling"- he used a lighter word – "Snape, and Selene was giving a piece of mind to both of them. I believe they must be taken to the headmaster" Lupin stated with more confidence than he felt. He always knew he must stand against them but he never had the courage, and never had anyone pointed it out in public either.

"Moony!" Potter and Black gasped together, but he kept a cold face.

"Right, come with me" Frank ordered them.

"I will be coming there too, Longbottom, the incident had my involvement too." Selene said.

He nodded and gestured them to follow. Potter and Black giving reminiscent confused glances to Lupin who was stoically walking back to the Gryffindor common room with Pettigrew running to catch his pace.

Severus looked at Lily, when their eyes met, Lily swirled around to pick up her dropped bag and began walking towards the castle. Severus' anger was now directed towards himself, now he wanted nothing more than hurting himself. He looked at the tall Ravenclaw beside him and scowled again, why is everyone on this world trying to make his life miserable?

"I don't need your help, I can go by myself" he said trying to free himself from the boy's grip of his arm, but no use, the boy was too strong for him.

"Stop behaving like a five-year-old, Snape, or else Shane even knows how to carry you, you wouldn't weigh much, anyways" Selene said, glaring at him.

"Why don't you all just leave me be to myself" he knew he was soon going to pathetically cry for losing his friendship with Lily.

"Shut up, Snape and walk"

He lowered his head, his hair obscuring his face, when they were in the Great Hall. He had no energy left to face people muttering ill about him.

*Page Break*

"Ah… Mr. Longbottom, what do we have today?" Dumbledore asked pleasantly, no taking in the seriousness on everyone's faces.

"I don't really know what happened but some first-year students came to me and Alice saying that people have drawn their wands on each other" Longbottom answered.

"No, this is wrong… we were just having some fun not duelling…" Potter protested.

"Is that so Mr. Potter, because I was informed something else?" McGonagall said sharply.

"Mr. Longbottom would you please elaborate for us what really happened?" Dumbledore asked.

"Sir… I… um… perhaps Alice can tell you what really happened, she knows it, I was busy bringing them up here to you…"

"Longbottom, you may go, Miss Fortescue has already seen me" McGonagall said.

"Then please continue, Minerva"

"Yes, So, some of my Gryffindors- mainly Misters Potter and Black- has something against a Slytherin which they took high enough to publicly humiliate him beside the lake, or so is was notified by Miss Fortescue." Said the Head of Gryffindor glaring at both of Potter and Black.

Dumbledore looked at them and his smile faltered "May I ask what happened, Misters?"

They opened their mouth but another voice cut them.

"I can give a better answer, Headmaster, excluding the spices they would add in story" Selene said walking in front of the table, ignoring the glares sent in her way by two certain people on her back.

"Certainly, Miss Solace, what do you have to say?"

"Snape was sitting under the tree- "

"Severus Snape?" Dumbledore cut her sharply, wanted to know more about the Slytherin boy.

"Yes, Severus Snape"- she eyed him suspiciously then continued – "So, he was doing nothing wrong to them, merely sitting. When these two, Purebloods"- gesturing towards Potter and Black, earning their snarls- "choked a Half blood on soap, by Scorgify first and then hung him in the air to show his underwear and again humiliate him publicly, giving the reason that his existence bothers them." She rolled her eyes here "While this Snape used a Dark spell to cut the cheek of Potter and called Evans a Mudblood too. Now for Merlin's sake don't let this fool you because both the spells are capable of causing death even though one of them is a mere cleaning charm and the other one to cause supposed harm, which can from my belief also be used for cutting potion ingredients without a knife."

"Miss Solace, mind your tone" McGonagall hissed reprimanding her.

"Sorry, Professor, got a bit carried away" she always had respected McGonagall for her fairness, but she too was a tad biased towards the Slytherins.

"That's fine Minerva. Thank you for relating the incident to us, Miss Solace. Now, Misters Potter and Black, you do understand what you did was wrong?" Dumbledore asked gravely.

"Headmaster, don't listen to her, she of course knows how to point you against us, we were just making Snive… emm… Snape understand that what Dark Arts he practices will not be tolerated in this school." Black defended them.

"This school is governed by some adults, Mr. Black, if you see something out of normal, you complain about it to your professors or the headmaster. Don't go yourself clearing everything up" McGonagall said with a disapproving frown.

"Now, now, Minerva." Dumbledore tried to sooth her.

"Anyways, Snape was doing absolutely nothing when these two decided to attack him" Selene stated with her nose in the air.

"So, do Mr. Snape has interests in the Dark Arts, Miss Solace?"

"Yes, he is poor and a half blood who wants support which he will- as I believe- go to any levels to get. He is a Slytherin till core which encompasses much more than muggle hatred but he does live with those prejudiced Purebloods who teach him only one thing. And standing strongly against Slytherins is difficult so he tries to merge in. And yes, he does have interests in Dark arts but perhaps it is plausible to know what we are going to fight against, and unless he is using it, I don't see and harm."

"You are right, Miss Solace. But still he used an unknown spell on Mr. Potter for which he will be punished. And you also mentioned him calling his friend a name which he shouldn't have?"

Both Potter and Black looked smug listening this.

"Yes, Sir. He did call Evans a Mudblood, which he indeed shouldn't have but if you see, Sir, he was in a very compromising situation, and seeing that I would say the influencers of his life came to life through a word."

"I cannot punish him for that, he must not indulge in such practices" Dumbledore shook his head.

Potter and Black still had their chins in the air as if they own the place. Selene was going to ask about their punishments but before she could Dumbledore was already speaking one more.

"And as for you Mr. Potter and Mr. Black, we are left with two weeks of school, you Mr. Black will be serving a three hours detention everyday with Mr. Filch"- Black groaned- "and Mr. Potter I believe Professor Slughorn would need you for preparation of ingredients or washing cauldrons or preparing for a class, precisely you will be serving 3 hours of detention with him till the end of term as well" HA! Potter groaned too.

"And should I believe you did not have your wand out Miss Solace?"

DAMN! "I had it out, Sir. But I didn't cast a single spell, it was only for showing them that how it would feel to see your friend tormented in front of you and feel helpless." Selene stated.

"You had your wand out, Miss Solace, then I'm afraid you will be serving two detentions Mr. Hagrid for two hours. Then as for Mr. Snape he will be helping Professor Sprout with the green houses till the end of term, every two hours every day."

'Hagrid and Sprout', Potter and Black mouthed 'and we get the gross work, Filch and Slughorn'

"Wait, this is unfai-" their protests were cut short.

"It's fair, serves you right, I'll be informing Mr. Snape about his detentions" McGonagall sniffed. "And I believe you all must leave now"

Selene watched Potter and Black nodding and exiting, then she turned to face Dumbledore again.

"I am a Pureblood too, Headmaster, but I don't believe hating a creed which exist on this planet because my parents instilled that my mind that all have a right to live. Therefore, any mis guidance from the side of some of my housemates doesn't bother me. Just like that, all my housemates who believe in Pureblood prejudice are the results of their parent's constant insistence on that matter. The other Slytherins, like Snape, just pick it up from them and start following because the rest one-third school believes we are blood- purist maniacs and has nothing to do with us. Only if you try and support the Slytherins, mind you not the prejudices, then perhaps we will not go to You-Know-Who for the long-requested support."

"You are right Miss Solace, and I will certainly follow your advice" Dumbledore smiled ducking his head in approval.

"Good that you noticed it now, Sir. It's always late than never. By the way, you, yourself will be benefited because our house holds many talented witches and wizards, even Merlin belonged to Slytherin, you may know that." She smiled knowingly.

"Of course, Miss Solace, otherwise I don't want them to use it for the wrong cause now." He said looking her in the eye, and both knew the statement held more than the meaning it showed.

"So, Thank you, Sir, for listening. I'll take my leave now"

"Yes, Good day, Miss Solace"

"You too, Sir"

Dumbledore sat back in his chair in thought. Perhaps this girl Selene Solace can show Severus the road of Light… and he has to see who this Gryffindor Lily Evans was to Severus… maybe she will help him out of Darkness.
