"How far did we drop?" Ray asked looking up.
"We walked right into that….." Yuzu replied as she stood up.
The three girls had fallen from one of the tunnels leading into the castle and were now in a small dark room. They touched all the walls and felt bricks all around.
"We can blast our way out of this easily." Rin said.
"We don't know where we are though; our better option would be to fly out the same way." Yuzu replied. "Mozarta, check to see if we can escape upwards!"
Sanders
"Do you see that? These Lancers have just been trapped and they're already thinking about all routes of escape. This is the sharp thinking they have gained in this war!" Sanders, the Academia army instructor said.
Saunders was high above the training ground in a podium with a holoscreen of the room on it. Behind him were a five Obelisk Blue students.
"Yes sir!" they all yelled out in unison.
"We have a unique opportunity for you all here! We are on the verge of greatness! Each one of you is one step away from leaving as students and gradating as a role within Academia. Normally we would have you run several final tests and duels but today… you will be able to do that all in one!"
The students looked confused.
"Watch and behold!" Down below in the training ground a vast forest appeared via Real Solid Vision. "This is Predaprimal Jungle! It matches both the physical aspects of the final exam along with the dueling. Each of you will enter and duel a Lancer! It doesn't matter if it's two vs. one or five vs. one! If you all contribute and card each one of them, you'll all pass!"
"Yes sir! We won't let you down!"
Sanders turned around and smirked.
"But what lies beneath is my most important goal!" he thought.
…
"There's no way out." Warrior said as she translated what Mozarta had found from searching up the chute they fell through. "It was sealed shut."
"They won't be keeping us here…. Academia prefers to battle… and I don't want to wait to find out what. We go back to my idea, we blast our way out!" Before Rin could summon something to do just that, the wall in front of them disappeared.
"That wall was…. a hologram with mass…." Ray observed as the three girls stepped out. They entered the huge circular training ground covered in a forest.
"Where…. are we now?" Yuzu questioned.
Before them a large holoscreen appeared with Sanders on it.
"Who are you?!" Rin yelled.
"Yes, I'm sorry for the sudden drop, but I had to get things prepared. My name is Sanders; I am the Academia training instructor. Every warrior you've faced has been approved via me!"
"Training instructor? You're the one who puts the students through such hell…. disgusting." Yuzu replied.
"Each student we've been up against, we've beaten. You don't scare us!" Rin added.
"And we'll keep taking them on!" Ray said.
"I've seen that my Obelisk Blue cannot compete with the Lancers… but that changes today! You're on our own turf now! You're going to provide my five students the ultimate test! Inside this jungle they are waiting!"
"We won't entertain you!" Rin slammed.
"Even if you get through my jungle, you'll reach the exit… and you'll be with your angel counterparts?!"
"We have no choice." Yuzu said. "I'm tired of running around. The only way we'll get to Ciel and the others is to go head on."
"Yuzu…." Ray stuttered.
"We know the others are dealing with Yuya and the other boys…. we have a job to do. I didn't go through the destruction of Standard, Ritual and Xyz… the dictatorship of Synchro…. just to give up at the final hurdle!"
"Very impressive… now won't you enter my jungle?!"
"We have no other choice." Rin said.
"Yeah, let's stay close." Yuzu replied.
Mercy Marina
The two girls had reached the dungeon of the castle. Held down here were the dungeons were Academia would send any troublemaker here while they awaited a decision on their fate.
It was dimly lit and damp with each cell having bars keep in them enclosed with the bricked layout.
"This won't be enough to prove to the people of Fusion what Academia is really like?" Mercy said to Marina.
"That's true; to them these will be people who dared to turn against the saviour of Leo Akaba but by recording the conditions here and then the laboratory… they will see that their loved ones have had a bug put into their brains and-"
Marina stopped as she heard groaning come from a nearby cell. She turned around and saw a chained up male in a black coat.
"Ryo?" Marina went to the bars and saw he was barely conciseness.
"Not just him…. there are other kids over here…." Mercy saw as Slifer Reds were in several of the cages as well.
Jungle
Yuzu and the others trekked further and further in the vast jungle field. They had realized by now that this jungle was much bigger and deep than they first believed.
"What on earth are is going to happen…..?" Ray questioned.
"Whatever it is, we must stay together." Yuzu added. "Mozarta, can you help us out again?"
Yuzu put the card onto her duel disk and the Pendulum Monster failed to appear.
"What now?" Yuzu groaned as Warrior appeared beside her.
"This field…. it must be an active duel arena…. your duel disk is on duel mode… you can't summon a Monster without the requirements…"
"Makes sense… they wouldn't want us cheating our way out…" Rin added.
Yuzu took a few steps to observe a clear path forward.
"This looks clear….." Yuzu stopped and heard no response. "…Guys?"
As she turned she saw Rin and Ray had vanished right before her.
"Rin? Ray?!"
The bushes and trees had moved for Rin and Ray as well. Each was now alone and looking around trying to work out what had happened.
"They can manipulate the Action Field…." Ray said to herself as Samurai appeared.
"We should expect company very soon."
Rin had her Synchro Monster Callistis already beside her.
"You see anything?"
"No, Miss Rin but we should keep moving."
Rin then heard cracks in the bush behind her and she snapped her sight in that direction to see a shadow leap out at her.
Yuzu and Ray both heard the screams from their sections and both cried out her name but she couldn't' answer.
Ray and Yuzu both were going to run in the direction of noise but each of the two girls saw approaching shadows from the same direction. Yuzu had three shadows approach while Ray had two.
"So you're the students…." Yuzu said as two females, one with orange hair and the other blonde. A male in Obelisk Blue also approached.
"Yes and we're ready to graduate!" said one.
"What about my friends?!"
"They're occupied… don't worry about them!" the male said as they activated their duel disks.
"I won't let you block me from my friend!" Yuzu hit back.
….
"What on earth…. are you?" Rin took steps back as snarling continued to approach her.
Approaching her on all fours was a male with ripped shorts and a bare chest. He had a gladiator pauldron on his left arm along with long untamed hair. He crept up to her like a tiger ready to pounce. On his left wrist was a green Academia duel disk.
"Tell me!"
"I'm….. the Battle Beast…. and you're…. in my arena now!"
"Battle….Beast?"
"I've been starved…. and you'll be a fine first meal!" Battle Beast roared as his duel disk activated.
"I don't know who or what this is…. but I won't back down!" Rin replied as she activated her green duel disk with pink blade. "I activate the Action Field Crossover!"
Around the jungle Action Cards disappeared.
"Action Field…. Action Cards? I was taught about those!" BB smirked which threw Rin off guard. "You can only have one in your hand per turn, right?"
"Yes…. now let's get this started!"

"I summon Windwitch - Glacier Bell!" A pink haired female in white witch dress appeared. She was riding a dark blue broom.

"When Normal Summoned you take 400 damage!"
Glacier Bell flew above BB and sprinkles of light hit him as she did.

"You attack me with light?!"
"That's not all! I use Double Chime! This Spell reactivates Glacier's effect!" The witch flew over BB again as he snarled at it.

"If I inflicted more than 500 effect damage to you this turn, Windwitch – Snowstorm can appear!" A black robed witch appeared with a necklace which had a snowball hanging onto it.
Windwitch – Snowstorm ATK: 1000 DEF: 1000 Wind/Spellcaster/LVL 4
"She allows me to return a Spell to my hand from my graveyard when summon. I return Double Chime and now I tune Snowstorm with Glacier Bell!"
High above the forest the two witches performed the Synchro Summon as BB started to get inpatient.

"Appear! Callistis!"
A woman in crystal amour appeared from the sky. Her white hair was so long that it flowed right to her ankles. It looked like a robe. She also had two pointy wings why came from her hip. She held a yellow sword with red handles.

"I set one card and end my turn."

"This duelist…. he is filled with rage." Callistis said in her physical form.
"Yeah… what's his deal?" Rin replied. Rin saw an Action Card near her and grabbed it but BB ignored her.
"I play Gladiator Rejection! This Continuous Spell stops you targeting my Gladiator Beasts with effects except during the Battle Phase!"
"Gladiator Beasts?"
"I use a second Continuous Spell Gladiator Double Armour! Now I summon Gladiator Beast Secutor!" A green lizard in blue armour emerged.
Gladiator Beast Secutor ATK: 400 DEF: 300 Wind/Reptile/LVL 4
"I use a third Spell! Gladiator Comeback allows me to summon a Gladiator Beast from my deck with a different type than the one I already control! I choose the Winged-Beast, Gladiator Beast Bestiari!" A green bird with long thing green wings inside a dark green armour appeared.

"Now I Contact Fusion Summon!"
"Contact Fusion….. he's high up in Academia's standards then…." Rin thought to herself.
"I fuse Bestiari and Secutor! GO FUSION SUMMON! Appear Gladiator Beast Gyzarus!" A bulkier version of Bestiari appeared though this time with thicker blue armour. He had two white cannons on each arm.

"When Special Summoned he can destroy two cards on the field! I choose your Synchro and your face down!"
"Callistis effect! When you use a Monster effect Callistis negates and destroys it while inflicting damage to you equal to your Monster's attack!"
"I said you're in my arena now! Gladiator Beast Double Armour prevents my Fusion Monsters from being affected by any card effects!"
"So why use Gladiator Beast Rejection?"
"You'll see! Now I wipe out your two cards!" Gyzarus fired his two cannons at the cards and wiped both Rin's Synchro and her Lost Wind Trap.
"Sorry Callistis…."
"Now I attack directly!" Gyzarus fired the two cannons again and the blasts sent Rin flying across the ground.
Rin LP: 4000 – 1600
"Now during the end of the Battle Phase my Gyzarus returns to the extra deck and I summon two Gladiator Beast's from my deck!"
Gyzarus fired back into BB's extra deck and two cards popped out of his duel disk.
"I summon Gladiator Beast Ritiari and Equeste!" Ritiari was a green lizard with a white cloth around his neck while holding a trident and Equeste was a centurion.

"Now Rejection's effect! When I summon a Gladiator Beast from my deck I can summon another with a different type than the ones I control! I summon Darius!"

"Ritiari's effect! When summoned via the effect of another Gladiator Beast, it can banish a card from your graveyard. I choose your Synchro!"
Rin heard a scream as her Synchro ace was removed from play.
"Callistis!"
"Next is Equeste! I return a Gladiator Beast to my hand from my graveyard! I return Gladiator Beast Bestiari! Finally! I Fusion Summon again by using my three Monsters! Appear the almighty Gladiator Beast Nerokius!"
This Gladiator Beast was larger than any so far. It was the same size as the trees on the Action Field. It was purple and wore dark amour.

"Then it's our turn!" replied one of the females. "I draw! I summon Ancient Gear Bronze!" A rusted bronze version of an Ancient Gear appeared on a platform.

"Statue's effect! I can play a Continuous Trap from my hand!"
"What?!" Yuzu replied.
"I play Ancient Gear Binding Cable!"
A heavy black cable flew out of the card and wrapped around Mozarta. Before Yuzu could go for an Action Card a second cable formed and captured Yuzu.
"What is this?!"
"This prevents your Monster from attacking or changing positions!" said the orange haired female. "And while Ancient Gear Bronze is on the field, you can't use Spells! I end my turn!"
"Action Cards count as Spells…. great…"
"Then I'm up!" said the second female who also drew.
"I'm guessing you'll summon the same….. Academia tends to do that…"
"You're right. I also summon an Ancient Gear…. Appear Ancient Gear Silver!"
Ancient Gear Sliver ATK: 0 DEF: 0 Earth/Machine/LVL 4
"It allows me to 1000 damage to you each turn as long as your Monster is in attack position!"
Yuzu was zapped by a shot from the sliver Ancient Gear.

"I end my turn!"
"Finally my turn! I draw!" said the male.
"But thanks to Ancient Gear Sliver, you take 1000 more damage!" the blonde female said as Yuzu was zapped again.

Ancient Gear Gold ATK: 0 DEF: 0 Earth/Machine/LVL 4
"While Gold is on the field, each time you draw, a card in your hand is discarded!"
"What?!"
"It's not like you could draw anyway!" said the blonde haired female as the students all laughed.
"I also play the Continuous Spell Ancient Gear Cannon! This hits you with 200 damage per card in my hand!" The cannon fired an electrical bolt which struck Yuzu causing her to scream.
Yuzu LP: 2000 – 1200
Ray
"A second scream? That was Yuzu!" Ray said as she was now stuck in a duel with two males. One with red hair and the other with long purple.
"Worry about yourself!" the red haired male said.
"Fine…. I play Spirit Release! I tribute En Spirit – Musashi and En Spirit – Tengu!"
A blue circle formed around Ray as the Monsters flew into it.
"Ancient mystic warrior rises from your eternal rest and serves me again to fight against our adversary! Ritual Summon! Appear Spiritual Samurai!"
A black samurai emerged with golden edges. It had two swords, one on its back and one stored by its side.
Spiritual Samurai ATK: 2500 DEF: 2200 Light/Warrior/Ritual/LVL 7
"Musashi returns to my hand when used for a Ritual Summon! I set one and end my tun!" Ray ended with three cards in her hand.
"I draw! I play Polymerization to fuse two Ancient Gear Soliders in my hand! I Fusion Summon "Appear Ancient Gear Howitzer in defence!" A black machine with red armoured arms emerged. It had multiple guns connected to its arms.

"This card is unaffected by card effects and once during a Main Phase I can hit you with 1000 damage!" Howitzer locked its guns onto Ray and fired them. Ray shielded her eyes as the blasts hit.

"Samurai gains 300 attack for each level four or higher Monster in your graveyard, so thanks for the boost!"

"It doesn't matter! We can break you with other ways! I play the Field Spell Gearfield!"
The jungle remained but the trees begun to turn to metal.
"This prevents all use of Spells and Traps in our duel except Ancient Gear Cards!"
"You're locking me down?"
"I end my turn!" said the duelist.
"Then I draw!" added the purple haired male. "I use Polymerization and fuse two Ancient Gear Soldiers!"
"Let me guess…. the same Monster?"
"You bet! Appear Howitzer!"
Ancient Gear Howitzer ATK: 1000 DEF: 1800 Earth/Machine/Fusion/LVL 8
"I use his effect!" Ray braced herself again as the blast struck.

"Next I use Ancient Gear Magic Shield! It prevents my Howitzer from being destroyed in battle and it gains 1200 defence!"
Howitzer 2 DEF: 3000
"I also play the Continuous Spell Ancient Gear Mirror! Once per turn by sending an Ancient Gear Monster from my hand, I can take activate a Monster effect on the field…. since this is a Battle Royale, my friend's Howitzer is up for grabs! I send Ancient Gear Statue to reactivate his Howitzer!"

The blast this time was much stronger and this made Ray yell as she was sent flying into a tree.
"I end my turn with a face down!"

"I draw!" Rin said with determination after hearing the screams of both Yuzu and Ray.
"Your friends are suffering!"
"What is going on? Why separate us?!"
"I have a big job to do! My fellow comrades have not got the strength to beat the Lancers so I will finish them off!"
"So you separated us and attacked with the five students while you lurked in the shadows to take me on?!"
"You have it in one guess! I get the chance to duel numerous people as once I'm finished with you, I'll take out the students!"
"But…. you said they were comrades?"
"I know…. but they are also my food! I live only to duel!" BB smirked back.
"You live only to duel… what on earth even are you?"
"I was a student…. I progressed quickly…. by far the best Academia ever had… so Sanders saw my potential!"
"Sanders? What did he do?"
"I wanted to keep dueling… keep fighting! I beat every one of my classmates… even a few Academia higher-ups! I was chosen for this special job! To be Academia's main defence!"
"BB, it's time to change!"
Rin looked up and a giant holoscreen appeared with Sanders.
"But I was having fun?!"
"That's an order; now switch to the Ritual user!"
"Fine…."
"You're really going to take his orders? Why not continue the duel?" Rin said.
"I have… orders…." BB and his Monsters disappeared into the jungle as Rin saw the duelists from Yuzu's duel appear.
"So…. you're all switching… trying out different tactics or something?"
"So you're the Synchro user?"
"And 1600 lifepoints…. Battle Beast did well!"
"What are those Monsters?" Rin took a step back as the three Ancient Gears lined her up.
Yuzu
Yuzu remained trapped as the cards were still in effect from the duelists who were now with Rin. She was now with the two from Ray's field.
"Damnit…. this is just what I expected…. unfair dueling!" Yuzu snapped.
"You're on our turf now, Lancer. You're mission ends here!"
"And you still need to draw and thanks to my fellow student's Ancient Gear Gold… you discard a card in your hand… let's make it easy and discard already remaining card in your hand.
Yuzu's card as Yuzu saw it was a Spell.
"And Ancient Gear Sliver hits you with 1000 damage!" said the purple haired male as Yuzu yelled again as the cables shocked her.
Yuzu LP: 1200 – 200 Hand: 1
"Gearfield also prevents you using Spells and Traps!"
"I can't switch Mozarta's position… I can't attack or use Spells, Traps …. but I'm not giving up on her… right, Warrior?"
"Yes! Had they discarded the newly drawn card… we would've lost. Now get out of this bind!"
"I summon Queens Knight Heart! She can be Normal Summoned if I control a level five or higher Monster!" A long haired blond female wearing white armour while on a horse appeared. She had a shield and sword with the shield having a heart engraved on it.
Queens Knight Heart ATK: 2200 DEF: 1000 Light/Warrior/LVL 6
"I can still use my effects! Heart allows me to return my two Pendulum Cards to destroy two cards on your field!" Yuzu looked at her duel disk. "I don't know what other threats the others are facing… but it won't stop us! I return DuPre and Argerich!"
The two returned to Yuzu's hand and Heart raised her sword.
"I wipe out Ancient Gear Silver and Gearfield!"
Heart raised her sword and two yellow energy beams flew out over the field. One of the beams surrounded the arena and cleansed the jungle of the metal of Gearfield while on Rin's field the Ancient Gear Sliver was destroyed.
Rin
"My Ancient Gear Sliver?!" said the Academia solider.
"And the Gearfield… it's gone!" said the other.
"That light…. that was Yuzu's Monster!"
"But Gearfield also has an effect…. when it's destroyed… we can destroy all cards on our field to summon Ancient Gear Golem!"
"Your friend made it better for us! We each get one!"
"But Yuzu will still be freed from Binding Cable…" Rin sighed as each Ancient Gear fell apart and begun to assemble into two Ancient Gear Golems.
Ancient Gear Golem ATK: 3000 DEF: 3000 Earth/Machine/LV
"Wait… Yuzu could affect the field from another part…. now I can use! My Trap Lost Wind was removed by when Battle Beast summoned a Fusion; I was able to return it! I use it to negate Gladiator Beast Nerokius' effect and halve its attack!"
A black stream blasted from the Trap and over to Ray's field.
Ray
"Samurai's attack only came from one user's graveyard…. our decks aren't designed for this…"
"Does it matter?! Lancers are hard to beat…. so you play by our rules now!" Battle Beast smirked.
Nerokius ATK: 1500
As that moment the black stream hit Battle Beast's Monster and turned it grey.
"What is that?!"
Ray looked at her duel disk and saw Lost Wind had been used.
"Rin… we might not be able to see what the others are doing but we're still protecting each other! And I'll do the same! Since Gearfield is gone… I can use my Trap! Ritual Hurricane! I destroy all Spells and Traps on the field…. I wipe outAncient Gear Mirror and Ancient Gear Magic Shield!"
Yuzu
A strong breeze flew across the jungle and as Yuzu was able to make another move. The wind blasted away her opponent's Ancient Gear Cards.
Howitzer 2 DEF: 1800
"I sense that energy was Ritual…" Warrior said.
"Ray helped me?"
"I also sensed Synchro energy going to another part…. everyone has helped each other."
Yuzu noticed the trees begun to spark.
"What is it now?" she said as she saw the students also looked concerned.
"Commander! What is happening to the Jungle Field?!" said one the soldiers.
The trees then begun to fade away revealing an empty green field with all the duelists now able to see each other.
"What?!" yelled Sanders who appeared on a holoscreen.
"Guys!" Yuzu yelled.
"What happened?!" Rin replied.
"Did our crossing moves… weaken the Action Field?"
"How…. how could my Action Field fall?!" Sanders thought as he clenched his whip up in his gallery.
"Who is that?" Yuzu asked as she saw Battle Beast for the first time.
"I am the defence of Academia! This is my field!"
"Battle Beast! Don't answer her! This is still a duel! We have six VS three!" Sanders yelled. "You have been taught what to do in this situation!"
"Are you that scared you had to separate us?!" Yuzu hit back.
"It's called divide and conquer, young lady!"
"You assume…. I'm too scared to fight you all by myself?!" Battle Beast hit back.
"BB! Cease!"
"We're all working as a one unit! It doesn't matter how you win, it's the result which matters!" said one student.
"We will beat the Lancers and be promoted!"
"You like knowing none of you are stronger than us?" Yuzu prompted.
"We are strong as an army! Together! We listen to our superiors!" they all chanted as one except Battle Beast.
Battle Beast gripped his fists and gritted his teeth.
"I am…. not weak! I could take you all on….!"
"Battle Beast! You will listen to me!" Sanders yelled. Yuzu noticed his behaviour and had an idea.
"You seem to love taking orders…. I guess having a superior brain in charge is exactly what you need…."
"Yuzu?" Rin replied.
"I mean Academia has reached this far thanks to Leo Akaba…. I have yet to see a single other Academia warrior other than Marina who impressed me…."
"You dare talk down me and my army?!" Sanders hit back.
"We've beaten them so many times now…. you admitted it yourself, you can't be us with just these… even other dimensions have beaten your recruits… they're weak!"
The students all gritted their teeth and begun to snarl at Yuzu.
"We will show you!"
"You will obey me!" Sanders yelled.
"And you, Battle Beast….. how weak are you….?!"
"BB!"
"I am not weak!"
"Yeah…. I noticed that as well, Yuzu!" Rin finally realized and joined in.
"What?!"
"You couldn't wipe me out…." Rin said. "I survived despite your deck… a better duelist would've ended me on that one turn."
"We are strong!" yelled one of the students.
"And I could easily destroy you all!" Battle Beast hit back. "Including these weaklings!" Battle Beast pointed to the students.
"We have never been given the chance…. we could easily overthrow them all!" said a female student.
"Why is Battle Beast regarded as the defence of Academia?! Anyone of us could beat him!"
"YOU WILL LISTEN TO ME!" Sanders yelled.
"With respect, sir…. I think you've got this wrong!" yelled another.
"Yeah! We have to use these standard decks… these don't match our play styles!"
"You will conform to what Academia says and does! This is our way of life!"
"I am the defence of Academia as I am the best there is!" Battle Beast hit back to the students.
"Then show us!" said the students.
Sanders' lit up with anger in his gallery.
"The young…. so easily swayed! It doesn't matter as Leo thought ahead about this." Sanders opened up another holoscreen. "Doctor! I need my students coming under your control!"
There was no response.
"Doctor! Answer me!" Sanders saw nothing and knew something had happened. He proceeded to leave his gallery and head to the Doctor's laboratory.
As it was just down the hall he opened the doors and looked in.
"Doctor!"
Sanders looked down and saw the carded Doctor on the floor.
"How…. who did this?!" He looked up at the screen on the wall and went over to the computer console. Sanders knew enough to at least activate what he wanted the Doctor to do.
Field
"Then we shall make our move! We'll take you down the Battle Beast" said a male student. "I use Ancient Gear-"
Each of the students quickly looked downwards, almost like zombies.
"What now…..?" Yuzu asked.
Sanders reappeared on the monitor and looked at his army.
"Now then students…. who do you follow?"
"Only Academia…. only Academia."
"And who is your instructor?"
"You…. sir…."
"Now you will take out the Lancers."
"It's the parasite control…." Ray stated.
"I'm guessing Battle Beast was too strong minded… when they've been conditioned this long… it must be easy…" Yuzu said.
"And they were just showing some free will…." Rin added.
"Yes, we will take out the Lancers…."
"I activate the Continuous Trap Gladiator Ambush! I destroy all Continuous Spells or Traps on the field and my Gladiator Beast gains 400 attack for each destroyed! And it can attack directy for each one destroyed! I wipe out my four cards and the Synchro user's Lost Wind!"
Each one was wiped out in a row as Nerokius not only regained its original attack but it increased as well.
Nerokius ATK: 5000
"I can attack five times! Ambush continues the effect despite being destroyed! I attack all those weaklings!"
Neorkius raised his giant palm and a dark ball was created which he fired at the students. Each one didn't notice as they were now mindless drones. The blast sent them flying high into the air.
Academia Students LP: 4000 – 0
"Now my reward!" Battle Beast hit his duel disk and all were turned into cards before they could even land.
"NO!" yelled Sanders.
"Now it's just you and me, Lancers!"
