\A lot of people had been being rather rude to Neville since his name was pulled out of the goblet of fire. Luna told him to just ignore them, but that was easier said than done. At least it was for him. It probably was not for her, seeing as she ignored bullies all the time. He couldn't understand how she did it, but he was admiring that more and more.

Neville's interview with Reeta Skeeter had not gone well. He had repeatedly told her that he had not put his name in the goblet, but she did not seem to believe him. When she brought up his parents, he begged her not to print anything about them.

He cringed when he read her article.

When Neville's parents went insane, it may have affected Neville too. He's basically a reckless idiot, who just entered this tournament for glory. I'm not sure why. It doesn't seem like it would take much to impress his three girlfriends, two of whom are feeble-minded, and younger than him.

Part of the reason he had been worried about her printing something about his parents was that he didn't want other people's pity, but he was also worried that she would say something bad about them. Mentioning that they were insane without at least mentioning why was pretty bad.

The mention of the feeble-minded girls, which obviously referred to Luna and Jane, really bothered him too. They had both been called feebs before, but not very many people heard that. Lots of people probably read this.

Where was she even getting her information?

Twenty-four hours later, she came out with her next article.

I am very sorry, for I have caused some great confusion. Augusta Longbottom, Neville's grandmother, has graciously pointed out that her son and daughter-in-law only went insane because they were tortured for information, by death eaters, and wouldn't give in. It has also been pointed out that some of her grandsons' friends are weird, but apparently they are not feeble.

Neville smiled. He was not sure what his grandmother did, and he doubted that his grandmother had been at all gracious about it, but he was very grateful.

Hagrid had invited Jane, Neville, Hermione, and Luna, for tea at his hut. While they were there, he gave them some unsettling information.

"The reason I invited you all here today was that I found out what the first task is."

"What is it?" Luna asked.

"Dragon."

Jane cringed.

"Don't be too afraid. A dragon's not going to hurt you unless you come off as a threat."

That evening, Jane noticed Cedric, in the Hufflepuff common room. When she saw him, she wondered if he should know about the dragons too, so she started following him. "Cedric, um… could I talk to you for a bit?" she asked.

"Yeah," he said, turning toward her.

Jane nervously fidgeted. Talking to people she barely knew was so scary. "Um… the first task is dragons."

"Thanks for telling me."

Jane, Hermione, and Luna walked Neville to the champion's tent. They stood outside.

"I love you, Neville," she said.

Neville smiled, "I love you too."

"Would you like a hug?"

Neville nodded.

He and Jane hugged, and then he hugged Hermione and Luna

Neville was called into the tent.

"Good luck, Neville," Hermione called.

"Thanks," Neville said, taking Trevor out of his pocket and handing him to Jane.

Jane, Luna, and Hermione all sat together. The three of them, and Neville had all done some research in the library, on possible ways Neville could get the egg, and came up with a plan. Still, being prepared could only take someone so far.

Jane watched as Neville entered the ring, nervously rocking back and forth. He looked at the dragon and then took out his wand. "Accio, beanstalk," he said, summoning a potted beanstalk. He had asked Professor Sport if he could summon it and use it for the task, and she had happily given him permission.

Neville cast a growing charm on it, and it grew super tall. He climbed the beanstalk, going up several feet.

He cast a stunning spell on the dragon. While it was stunned, he pointed his wand at the egg, and said, "wingardium leviosa." He made the egg fly and set it down next to the entrance.

He waited until he was sure that the dragon was paying no attention to him, and then climbed down. Fortunately, the dragon didn't seem to have noticed that he moved the egg.
