Jasmine Birtch was on the telephone, with Sam Roberts. "So, bad news. My parents got hurt in an accident, and I have to go and take care of them. my girls and I will probably be staying with them for a while."
"Oh," he said. "Sorry. Maybe, Alison and I could come and visit?"
"I don't think that's a very good idea. We could write to each other though."
"Oh, okay."
"Well, bye. I love you."
"I love you too. Bye."
Jasmine hung up the phone and started to cry. She was totally lying to him, but she did not know what else to do. She highly doubted that he knew about the wizarding world. She had not had to lie before though. She recalled when she had explained her older daughter's absence by simply saying that she went to boarding school, and he had asked why, so she told him that it was a special school and he hadn't asked further questions.
She hoped that he did not think that she was trying to push him away again or anything when she told him not to visit. He had been pretty understanding about her trouble moving on from her late husband, but she had been getting better about that.
Augusta was going to go and stay at the Order of the Phoenix headquarters for the summer, and it had special protection around it so they wouldn't have to worry about Voldemort or his death eaters. She invited Jasmine to come and stay with her daughters, and Jasmine said yes because it seemed like the best option.
She had even gotten her parents in on the plan. She was going to send them her letters to him via owl, and they would send them to him via muggle post. He would send them his letters to her to their house, and they would send them with an owl the next time she sent an owl there.
Jasmine heard the doorbell ring. Was Augusta here already? She glanced at the clock. She had been worrying for a long time. "Tracey," she called, grabbing the car keys, "it's almost time to go pick up Jane and Neville."
