IT'S CHANGED (SNILY)
CHAPTER 30 The heartbreaking kiss

It was almost late evening and the weather was really chilly but disregarding all of it, they all were standing beside the lake looking at it. They all had their hands in the robe pockets and their ears covered with woolen caps. Their teeth chattered a little but who cares?

"Isn't it chilly?" Selene said through her chattering teeth.

Shane waved his wand to place the warming charm around her. "Obviously, it is. Only if someone listens to me"

"She won't die here, Shane" Austin rolled his eyes.

Shane flushed. "I was talking about all of us"

Charm snorted. "Yeah, Shane"

Severus was having the wildest ideas. "Wouldn't it be cool to jump up in the lake?"

The eyes of everyone widened with disbelief while Lily's narrowed.

"You just came out of a full-blown fever and again want to do something so stupid!" she yelled.

"First, I was just kidding and next… I had fever? When?"

"You don't remember?"

"How will I remember if you keep making it up" he snorted.

She smacked his hand. "You had a damn fever when you were at home"

He frowned deeply and turned fully to look at her. "I don't remember a single thing. Am I losing my head? W-What if I am about to die…"

"Shush, Severus" Lily laughed. "You had hundred and five Fahrenheit"

"SO MUCH!?" he practically yelled. "Now, I am surely losing my mind"

"Severus, we knew that you were under depression- if that's the right word" Selene shrugged.

"Oh… yes, I forgot…" things came back to his head. Obviously, he was grief-stricken. He turned to Lily again. "I am still amazed by the fact that you all tolerated me"

Lily looked offended. "Do you believe we don't love you enough to have left you?!"

Love. He smiled mentally before shaking it away. "You would not, I know, now"

"Good" she nodded stiffly.

They all stood in silence for a while before a bush that was far from them showed signs of weird movements. They all went extremely stiff for awhile observing the bush before looking at each other.

Selene took a step first before stopping and rolling her eyes by Shane's glare. He had started to be too protective of her and that was driving them bonkers.

Charm waved her wand that cut a part of the bush and fell on the ground. The movement stopped for a fraction of a second before starting again. Someone was definitely there.

The tip of a wand came into view and before thinking Severus whispered. "Expelliarmus" and the wand fell to the ground from an old hand. But as soon as it fell, it came to the hand again. Wandless magic.

They all almost ran to hide before a voice spoke up.

"No need" it was pleasant and cheerful.

A female chuckling voice then. "Kids"

Their jaws fell and they kept staring for a while. Dumbledore and McGonagall.

"Professors…" they breathed.

The professors laughed. "We were just picking up some ingredients for Horace but who knew we'll have the fortune to even meet some of our dear students" Dumbledore smiled and that is when they noticed a bag both in his and McGonagall's hands.

Then Severus noticed, something else too. That as much stealthy, Dumbledore try to be, he'll always remain a Gryffindor. A Gryffindor who does things brashly. He saw him placing something in his pocket. It was greyish-white or whitish-grey. He didn't see that clearly.

It also had some traces of green and brown, which meant it was gotten up from the ground. It was flat, though. It was nothing to do with a potion ingredient. It was something else. Dumbledore had gotten something from the ground of the Forbidden Forest that he deemed as important. Interesting. He had to find out later.

"We were just roaming around, Headmaster" Shane told them.

"Well, we don't accuse you of anything, Mr. Singh" McGonagall teased.

He flushed and looked away.

"Now, as much as it is pleasant here, I believe, you all must be inside" Dumbledore suggested.

"Yes, sir" they all said and ran away to the castle.

*Page Break*

"Didn't you say that Dumbledore is gay?" Selene whispered in his ear before taking a large bite of her chicken.

Severus rolled his eyes. "Eat slowly, Shane's glaring at you" and Shane was actually glaring at her. She took another of the big bites to tease him before eating slowly. "So, yes, Dumbledore is gay. What about it?"

"He was with Professor McGonagall behind the bush. What do you think?"

"You and your stupid theories are moronic. That is what I think"

"You think I am stupid" she said in a broken voice. He turned to her to only see tears swimming in her eyes.

And he knew he mustn't have said that. Damn, this pregnancy. "I am sorry, Selene. It was just a joke, don't pay any heed to it" he tried to dismiss, but the tears spilled from the corners of her eyes.

He placed a hand on her arm and started rubbing it. "I truly am sorry, Selene" he wanted to use the spell but Merlin, Shane would kill him to so, when it was his own mistake. Then he remembered and searched in his pockets. He smirked. Selene's tactic on her own self was great.

"Would you like some chocolate, Selene" he offered a block to her as he flipped one in his own mouth. Lupin bought the best chocolates; he had taken more of them from him after he had loved the first one.

Selene chewed it and then took a deep breath. "Wow… where did you get that one from?"

Severus was amazed to see how quickly her mood changes. She looked absolutely fine now. He smirked. "Lupin"

"I need to get some from him too, then"

"Absolutely"

"They taste even better with chicken" she ate the chicken and chocolate together and Severus kept staring in disbelief.

"You just did not do that" he whispered. "Eww… Selene, disgusting"

She laughed and went back to eating whatever she was. That didn't qualify for food to Severus. Gross.

Selene's eyes widened and her brows furrowed deeply. She made some unintelligible noise.

"What, now?" he asked. She grabbed his hand and lifted her chin only so slightly in a direction ahead of them.

Severus turned and his heart stopped in his chest. Lily and James were standing too close to each other, that even their chests were not apart. Lily's head was a little craned towards the back and her face looked confused. James brought his hands up and grabbed her shoulders lightly. And then their lips met.

Severus took a deep breath and dropped his face in his hands. Why was this happening? Why? He knew someday, but why now? He knew he would never be ready for it but at least not now. Only if he would have told her what he wanted. She perhaps, would have said yes.

The Great Hall gasped while they kissed. Lily pulled her head back and looked at James in his eyes.

"What are you doing?!" she hissed.

James smiled happily and took several steps back. "I wanted an answer and I got it" he said and almost skipped away from the Hall in happiness.

Lily stood there for a while, confused before going behind him.

Severus was feeling as if this was the end of the world. Now, obviously, Lily would go with James and he'll be left alone. Alone. Once more. Fate always shows us what is the most unexpected.

A hand grabbed his and pulled him up to his feet. His vision was so blurred by the tears that he didn't know who took him where.

A hand rubbed his back. "Hush, Severus, it was James who kissed her. She didn't even make a move" it was Selene. She was always there. The place smelled familiar and looked a little similar to him but his head couldn't recognise it. She sat him on somewhere soft and familiar.

He didn't think then, just hugged her tightly and sobbed. She didn't leave him, just kept rubbing his back and say incoherent words to comfort him.

He didn't know when did he fell asleep and she left him there in his dormitory and on his bed.

*Page Break*

She had to find Severus. What if he had seen everything and was making his own perceptions now? He needed to know that she loved him. She would tell him that just then. Waiting had waited for too long now.

She banged into someone.

"I am sorry- Selene!" she exclaimed. "Do you know where Sev is?"

Selene took her by her hand and began walking.

"Are we going to Sev?" Lily asked.

"No" Selene said shortly.

"Then I have to get him, Selene. Please, we can talk later, first, I need to talk with Sev"

"In the Library"

They reached the library soon and went to the corner table where they sat all the time. Sirius, Remus and Peter were there too with the others. But still no traces of Severus.

They all smiled.

"Where is Sev?" she asked worriedly.

"Umm… He had a mild migraine, so, he is in his bed" Austin tried to make an excuse, earning appreciative glances from others.

"What caused that?!" Lily exclaimed. "Don't tell me he truly jumped in the lake?!"

Sirius laughed. "In the lake! Funny, picturing him that way…"

That earned him a glare from Remus and a warning squeeze on his knee. "It was your idea, wasn't it?" Remus hissed to him.

Sirius straightened. "No! Not at all. Why would I give such a stupid idea?" he laughed nervously.

"It was an extremely bad idea!"

"What are you all talking about?!" Lily yelled to get their attention. Couldn't they see how stressed she was?

They all jumped. "Uh… That everything is fine and Sirius gave an extremely bad about a prank" Shane said casually.

"Hey!" Sirius yelled. "I can never give a bad prank idea!"

"Sirius!" Remus glared at him.

"Sorry" Sirius muttered and sat back in his chair.

Then Lily whispered, out of nowhere. "He saw, didn't he?"

All their eyes turned to her.

"No… uh… he left before James could have done anything" Peter tried.

"Don't lie, Peter" she said tiredly.

"No, Lily" Charm came up boldly. "He didn't and now he is in his dorm room resting"

"So, everything is fine" she asked hopefully.

"Yes, he is fine and now, its just better if we don't disturb him" Selene gave an expectant smile and everyone calmed down.

Lily nodded happily, while the others shared guilty looks with each other.

"James is such a fool" Remus muttered.

"It was someone else's brilliant idea though, Moony" Peter rolled his eyes, nodding towards Sirius.

Sirius cleared his throat. "Let's play Exploding Snaps" he said loudly.

*Page Break*

A knocking noise.

He didn't pay heed. The darkness was welcoming and peaceful. He could lay like that forever.

Another knock.

He furrowed a little but didn't open his eyes. He muttered something uncoherent that to him seemed as- Someone, please, open the door.

But no voice answered him back.

The banging noises.

He was irritated now. Who wanted to disturb him? He pulled the pillow over his head.

Then someone even pulled the pillow off.

He almost cried. Cruel world. He pulled the blanket over his head. He wanted to stay in the darkness because somewhere in the back of his head a tiny voice said that something bad had happened and he must stay hidden.

That someone even pulled the covers off!

He turned on his stomach and buried his face in his arms and cried. Why did the person want to destroy the peace? He wanted to stay here. Couldn't they understand?!

"Severus, wake up and stop that crying" a female voice.

"Go away!" he wept.

"Why are you crying? Because I don't let you sleep after entire thirteen hours of you lying dead on this bed?"

"Leave me alone"

"I am not. First, get up and face me" she said commandingly.

He peaked out from his arms and saw a pale face with blonde hair and freezing grey eyes that showed no pity. "Charm…" he breathed.

"I am and now get up" she said coolly.

He sat up straight, sniffling. "W-What h-happened?"

Charm threw the blanket and the pillow on his bed and sat beside him. He clutched on his covers like something that he didn't want to lose.

"Now, what the hell did I do to make you cry?"

He looked at her sadly. "You took the covers away"

Charm rolled her eyes. "Stop being such a jerk, Severus. I was just waking you up because you had been having your beauty sleep for thirteen hours"

"Wasn't I dead?" he frowned. That is how he felt last time he had felt himself.

"No, you have been alive since you were born" she hesitated, then. "Though, you perhaps, would have felt like it"

Then the events of last night came back to him. His eyes filled with tears again. "I-I r-remember, now"

Charm rubbed her face tiredly. "Severus…" she kept a hand on his knee. "Stop crying"

"I-I c-can't" he wept. "I l-love her… I w-would die…"

"Shush… she did not kiss him. It was him-"

"I saw…"

"You can't after hiding your face in your hands… She herself didn't know what was happening" she told him. "Besides, a kiss wouldn't mean an ultimate deletion of you from her life"

"B-But obviously, Potter is better than me in everything… a Pureblood… plays Quidditch… looks good… is rich… even an Animagus… what am I?"

Charm huffed. "Get dressed"

"W-What?" he stammered. That was a ridiculously fast change of topic.

"Get dressed" she said slowly. "And wash your hair"

"Okay" he got up from the bed. She was being unnecessarily mean to him.

He came out of the shower after almost half an hour and found Charm still sitting on his bed, yawning. "What took you so long?"

He flushed. "I was asleep for thirteen hours, Charm"

"Fine" she muttered and waved her wand that dried his wet hair. "Nice. Now, get your robes on. You are not going to roam around in trousers and a shirt everywhere"

He rolled his eyes and threw his robes on his shoulders and buttoned them up. "Done"

"Very good. Now, look in the mirror. Do you seem presentable?"

He frowned, looking at the mirror. According to him, he looked fine. "Yeah…"

"No!" she snapped and he jumped. She came and stood beside him, in front of the mirror. "You are a Slytherin"

"… I am" he said confusedly.

"You seem unsure" she narrowed her eyes.

"I am a Slytherin" he said confidently.

"And am confident" she said. "Chin in the air, Severus"

He lifted his chin. "Am confident"

"Am a Triwizard Tournament Champion who nailed the first task"

"Is that necessary?" he swallowed at her glare. "Am a Triwizard Tournament Champion who nailed the first task"

"Better than Potter"

"Better than Potter"

"He can go fuck himself"

"He can go fuck himself"

"And he would never be able to impregnate anyone"

"Why?"

"Because I will castrate him before with a single spell"

"Hell, Charm, that's absolutely cruel" he gaped.

"Repeat!" she ordered.

He cleared his throat. "He will never be able to impregnate someone because I will castrate him with a single spell"

"Good. Now, I'll head to the Great Hall with Charm"

"Fine, to the Hall"

"And I'll get any girl while Lily can go suck"

"Yes" he deflated then. "But I love her, Charm"

"Severus!" she chided. "No more tears, you have already cleaned yourself"

"But I don't want anyone else" he sniffled.

"Severus, you are ruining it all. No crying!" she glared. "You will come with me now, like a proud… snake"

"Okay" he responded.

"Chin up"

He did and they left for the Great Hall, but Charm held a hand out.

"What?" he asked confusedly.

She looked up and him. "Now, I want you to stay extremely casual and act normal, as if nothing happened"

Just the remembrance was enough to break him apart again. He sniffled and nodded.

"Good. Now walk in"

And so, they did. Everything looked normal, other than people standing in tiny groups, chattering and giggling.

"What are they doing?" he frowned.

"Just preparing for the Yule Ball nonsense" Charm muttered as they took seats on the Slytherin table.

"Yule Ball?!" his eyes widened. "I forgot. Isn't that tomorrow?"

Charm rolled her eyes. "How can you forget the Christmas Eve, Severus?"

Severus shrugged. "My family never celebrated it and every year I just had Lily…" he trailed off and looked in his lap, twirling his fingers.

He forgot he was left with nothing this year. Not his mother and neither Lily. All of it was ending so soon. Perhaps, Merlin had decided to take every single and small joy out f his life, one after the other.

He loved his friends. He could live thinking about them. They were great. And anyways if there was no Lily and no Mum then, there were them. He smiled sadly, hoping Merlin wasn't even more brutal to harm them. He didn't want them to come to any pain. Because they were the ones who helped him out in every small difficulty.

At the time of his and Lily's fallout, in the ending of the last year, Shane was there. Austin told him that they would always be there, unconditionally, time and again. Selene had stayed with him just last evening and as cold as Charm was trying to be, he knew she cared about him and wanted to see that he was fine and… not crying.

"Come on, now, Severus" Charm inclined her face on the side. "We had just established that Lily could go suck and you wouldn't give a single shit"

Severus laughed. He kissed her cheek unexpectedly. "You know, you are great"

Charm's brows furrowed a little before which she understood. "Well, obviously, I know, I am great"

His eyes filled with happy tears. "I love you, Charm"

"Well, do you think you could stay without doing so?" she teased. "Now, if someone ask who your second-best friend is, you know what to say"

He laughed. "Are you competing with Selene?"

"Of course, not" she brushed it away but then whispered. "Perhaps, yes"

He laughed. "Elias is staring at you" he told her and her face went red instantly.

"So, what am I supposed to do?" she shoved a bite of pancake in her mouth.

"He'll probably ask you to the Ball" Severus winked.

"So, what? Let him" she shrugged, though the red blotches on her cheek just deepened.

"Don't act as if you'll not say, yes" he rolled his eyes.

"Oh… I don't even know him" she muttered.

"Oh… and I believed that you both had a long conversation about random things making it seem important" he mocked her.

"Making random things seem important? Why would we have it?" she gave a dismissal snort.

"Because that is what close friends talk like" he gave. "And also backbiting about people who passed by"

Charm went deep red and gasped. "How do you know all this?"

Severus shrugged. "Well, well… my sources"

"What sources?" she narrowed her eyes.

"Obviously, I wouldn't, Charm"

"Even if I say, I love you back"

"Well, you couldn't have remained without doing do for long, could you?" he used her own words.

She laughed. "No, not many people around me are able to accomplish that. So, the sources"

"Selene" he waved a hand to Selene, who stood far behind Charm's back, while Charm huffed, crossing her arms on her chest.

Selene grinned broadly and approached them. "You are here, I see" she turned to Charm and the grin changed into a suspicious one. "And Charm too"

Charm laughed nervously. "Yeah…"

"So, if you both are done with the chattering, we can do something else"

"Oh, every morning I forget that the vacations have started" Severus slapped his forehead lightly.

"You both can at least walk out, couldn't you?" Selene rolled her eyes.

"Oh, yes, come on, Charm"

They reached the Entrance Hall where Austin and Shane joined them.

"Where were you, Austin? I was searching for you?" Charm asked.

Austin who was looking around casually, suddenly looked like a deer caught in headlights. "Uh… Err… Umm… Ah… Oh, yes, I was on the second floor… chilling and… exploring" he smiled nervously.

"Well… there is much to explore… just not the floor" Shane winked and went closer to Selene to kiss her like everyday else.

But she pushed him away, laughing awkwardly and it seemed that a realization glanced at Shane too because he did back off quite quickly. "So, how are your homework going on Austin?"

Severus raised an eyebrow. This was the most awkward question she would have asked in the most awkward way.

Austin scratched the back of his neck and waved his hand weirdly. "Well… fine. And yours…?"

"Absolutely fine" Selene said in mock-confidence. "And, Shane, yours?"

Shane took the lead. "Well… I had been doing the Charms homework that-"

"You all can stop doing it" Severus crossed his arms on the chest.

"What?" Selene quirked an eyebrow and again laughed awkwardly.

"Don't feign ignorance. Last day Lily… kissed… Potter and you all don't want me to feel bad about it"

"You are in love with Lily?!" Shane gasped that wasn't very convincing.

Severus inclined his head and gave him a challenging look to lie again.

"Fine. We were trying to do that, perhaps" Austin shoved his hands in his pockets.

"A full-blown plan can't be perhaps" Severus snorted.

Selene groaned. "Okay, fine. How have Charm kept you looking so dashing till now?"

Severus raised an eyebrow. "Dashing? Yes…" he rolled his eyes.

"Well, just tell him that Potter is about to lose his testicles" Charm whispered to Selene.

"I heard that, Charm" Severus glared at her. "Though, thanks for making me look so dashing"

"Yes… girls are going to be such a mess after looking at you" Selene pulled her collar up in a motion to show heat.

"You can stop that too, Selene. I always look like this" he said in a half-bored tone.

"Then you look so hot everyday" Selene gave a nervous laugh.

"I said stop, Selene"

"Fine"

"Do you think a person crying over the covers that are taken away from him wasn't a mess himself" Charm gave an amused look and Severus flushed.

"Yeah… you don't have to make such a joke of it. I was… distressed" his cheeks turned deep red.

"Yes, obviously, a thirteen hours sleep must be… distressing" Charm gave a mock-sympathetic look.

They all laughed and then the air remained calm until… Lily showed up.

"What is the joke?" she asked emerging from the back of Austin, unexpectedly.

They all turned the air suddenly turned tense. Severus knew they all were side-glancing at him for his broken reaction. But he… merely smiled, hiding whatever he wished to shout and cry about.

"Just that… I like Remus' chocolates" he said casually as the others tried to laugh.

"You just called him Remus?" she pointed out.

"Isn't that his name?" he frowned.

"Yes, but you never called him that"

"Yes, just like we don't go-"

"Severus!" Charm yelled making everyone jump.

"What?" he said in irritation.

"Uh… I- A bug… I don't like them…"

Severus narrowed his eyes. "You are afraid of bugs?"

She flushed deep red. "I-I am"

He chuckled. "Stupid"

"What's so stupid in that?"

Severus shrugged. "Well, bugs aren't even scary"

"Oh, yes, they are" Charm kept her hands on her hips. "Don't tell me you are afraid of nothing?"

"No… perhaps… I am afraid of…" he reddened.

"Injections" Lily completed and rolled her eyes.

"No!" he denied. "I am not"

"Oh, yes you are. I still remember-"

"LILY!" he yelled to cut her. "We are fine without the story"

Lily shook her head in amusement.

"Then let's go to the library" Shane suggested while Selene and Austin gave appreciative nods to Charm.

*Page Break*

The next day in the morning, people were again without dates, though the Yule Ball would start in no more than a few hours. Fin's Hogwarts theory was just proved correct by people not acknowledging their likings for the other. She kept chuckling on their blushing faces who denied to break the brick first.

Though, many people had started the initialization with a very small step of sitting on the tables of their crushes. So, what was left for them was the Ravenclaw table when they arrived. The others were almost whole filled with the mixed students.

"The Yule Ball has taken too seriously by all, hasn't it?" Selene mentioned.

"Oh, obviously" Austin responded, though his eyes kept fixed on the Gryffindor table.

"Looking at Marlene again, isn't she already your date?" Charm rolled her eyes.

Austin flushed. "I haven't asked her yet and unless you ask, you are dateless"

"Yeah…" she snorted.

Lily leaned on Shane's shoulder. "Do you think he'll ask me?" she asked worriedly, her eyes on the dark-haired boy sitting opposite to him, whose entire concentration was on his breakfast.

Shane chuckled. "Well, I don't know… perhaps, he'll" he liked to tease, especially Lily.

"So, what do I do?"

"Ask him yourself"

"He doesn't even know that I am in love with him"

Shane turned entirely to her with his eyes twinkling. "You are?"

Lily blushed. "Umm… kind of… Yes, I am"

"Well, then what are you both waiting for?"

"I don't know… If he doesn't ask me in another five minutes… I'll ask someone else"

Shane gave an impressed look. "That's well… cool. What are you trying to do? Make him fall for you even more?"

"No. That wasn't the initial plan but now that you mention it… the idea isn't that bad"

On the other side of the table, the dilemma wasn't very different.

"Ask her" Selene insisted. "She is waiting"

"But why would she wait?" Severus asked, shrugging. He knew Lily had no feelings other than the platonic ones for him.

"Because… she is waiting"

"Selene, you know, she doesn't like me that way… I mean, why would she?" he tried to snort, but it came more like a sniffle.

"Severus! Collect yourself and ask" she empowered.

"Okay…" he took a deep breath but before he could say a word, Lily stood up.

"Remus!" she called out loudly from the table to the Gryffindor one and the Great Hall went silent as Remus looked at her, prepared to get some notice about the prefect duties.

"Yes?" he asked pleasantly.

"Would you come to the Ball with me?"

Remus flushed red and looked around to take a confirmation. Hell, everyone was looking at him. He couldn't say no. So, he said the thing, he thought was right. "Yes…" though he regretted it. He wanted to go with someone else.

"Good!" she exclaimed and sat down.

Severus still collected had to ask someone. So, he stepped up and held a hand in front of him, without thinking. "Would you come to the Ball with me, Charm?"

Charm gave him and amused look and side-glance to Lily, who seemed to have lost all senses. Charm kept her hand over his and spoke. "Yes" she kissed his hand and they sat down again, giving smug looks to the plate that were meant for the people who were viewing them.

"Fuck yourself, Snape!" Elias yelled out of nowhere. "Fine… Lea, would you join me for ze Yule Ball?"

Lea who was sitting on the Slytherin table, gave him an annoyed look. She was about to ask someone else and now, she couldn't. She couldn't even say no, in front of the entire Great Hall. "I-I will"

Elias nodded and left the Hall, after giving Severus a last angry glance while the Hall kept gasping on every twist in the tale.

Regulus groaned. Now, Lea was going with stupid Elias. He could perhaps, ask someone else to at least get in the dance. So, he stood up. "Fin, would you come with me to the Ball?" he called out from his table.

Fin from the Gryffindor table took a deep breath and gave a fuming glare to him. Damn, idiotic boy. "Fine" she said through her teeth, that went almost unnoticed by Regulus.

Peter seemed disappointed, but before he could say a word, James stood up. He knew what he was supposed to say. "Would you come to the Ball with me, Marlene?" his face twisted in the realization of his stupidity. He had to ask someone else, but he called out the wrong name.

Marlene closed her eyes for the second and then looked at him, warningly. "Yes!" she gritted her teeth and stabbed a spoon in her porridge.

"Damn" James muttered. "Oh, well, good" he raised his glass of milk and sat down disappointedly.

Now, this had gotten on to two people's nerves. One of them stood.

"Austin, would you come to the Ball with me?" Mary called out.

Austin cleared his throat and shot a dirty look to James, who gulped guiltily. "I will"

Mary held her chin high in the air and gave a take-that look to James.

Well… if they were doing it, why not others take a chance too. So, Sara Chang stood up smiling and turned to Shane. "Would you come to the Ball with me, Shane?"

Shane gave her an amused look and then his eyes twinkled after glancing at Selene. "Why not? Of course, I will see it as my pleasure" he smirked.

Sara gave and exaggerated smile to Selene before seating herself.

This had irked Selene. She stood up and called out for the person who came first to her mind. "Black, would you come to the Ball with me?"

Sirius raised an eyebrow and the time to take revenge shot him. "I will" he said confidently, side glancing Remus' twisted face. "By the way, I already warn you"

Selene rolled her eyes on him and returned to her food, without even a single glance to Shane.

Tvora cleared her throat and turned to Peter. Who could resist her? "Do you think you could come to the Ball with me, Peter?" she batted her eyelids.

Peter flushed red. Fin was already going with Regulus. He could at least be in the dance with someone. "I-I well… okay?"

"Good" Tvora smiled sweetly.

Shane's head shot up and he gave Peter a pleading look, willing him to understand that going with her wasn't correct but Peter didn't even look at him.

"I am astonished that no one asked me to the Ball… obviously, no one can compare with beauty" Gilderoy Lockhart muttered a little too loudly, pointing towards himself.

The others could only roll their eyes.
